Excel Services and User Specific Data

Hello,
I am new to Excel Services.
I want to retrieve data to Excel Services (at this phase, to prevent it in Excel Web Part) from SQL Server.
The SQL might hold big amount of data so I think about fetching only the data relevant to each user.
I configured a pivot table over a data connection with Windows Authentication, and when I refresh it I get the following message "The data connection uses windows authentication and user credentials could not be delegated". I think the Windows
Authentication is required in order to pass information about the user to the SQL query so it can filter for the relevant data.
My questions are as follows:
Can I pass user information from the Excel model file to the SQL server in a way different from Windows Authentication?
Alternatively, if I retrieve the data unfiltered to Excel Services, and filter only the pivot, will I get the same performance?
Would the answers change if Excel and/or SharePoint version is changed from 2010 to 2013 or Online/365?
Any other idea?

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to filter Excel Services Data.
You can you can connect the Excel Web Access Web Part to a Current User Web Part or a Filter Web Part to pass user information. Please refer to:
Personalized Data in Excel Services
You will get the same performance.
You can connect the Excel Web Access Web Part to a Current User Web Part in all versions.

Hi Everyone,
This is My req: I m going to display pie chart and Bar chart in share point 2013.
Steps I have follwed:
1. Export the list to excel.
2.Using the Power Pivot table I have done the chart.
3. Uploaded into document Library.
4. Added into the web part.
Chart are displaying. But When ever user added the data into the list chart is refreshing.
Is there any option to refresh the data in chart? Waiting for valuable replies.

SharePoint lists as data sources in Excel Services is not supported.That's the reason refreshing is not working. There are some work around you can use -
Export as Data Feed - Export your SharePoint list as Data Feed , use this data feed to a PowerPivot for Excel workbook and publish this PowerPivot using Excel Services.
User-defined functions - write UDF in C# and extend the Excel Services functionality to work with SharePoint lists.

Excel service and OWA - getting ERROR while trying to open/edit Excel documents

Hi All,
We have configured SharePoint 2013 with Excel Service and OWA (Office Web Apps).
After configuring, we are able to view/edit Word or PowerPoint documents from the browser (as OWA is configured). But we are getting errors while trying to open/edit Excel documents.
We are not able to view/edit the excel workbook from the browser (through OWA).
To open the excel in the browser, decision has to be taken at the farm level on what to be used – Excel Service or OWA Server? Is it possible to do setting at site collection level?

Project Server 2013 Excel Services and Perfomance Point reporting

Is there a way to show Enterprise Fields that consists of multiple values in Excel Services and Performance Point reports. It seems to be a big product limitation that this cant be done out of the box

Segregation of global layout and user Specific for IW38 with Activity 23

Hi All,
We have issue that users are able to change the Global Layout in IW38 transaction codes, which is causing lot of confusion for other users. Please can anyone help me to do some investigation around how the access to Global Layout and User-Specific layout can be segregated.
We would like to achieve below things:
1)     Can we control provision access in such way users can only change layout specific to them?
2)     They should not be able to change Global Layout
3)     List of roles having Authorization object S_ALV_LAYO with activity 23.
If anyone already faced this issue, can you please let me know how they resolved it

It's up to the business, but ours wanted the managers to set a global layout for all other users to display only... as sort of a standard report. I agree with you in the challenge of determining who to give the long-term S_ALV_LAYO w/23 global maintenance access. We used to have this S_ALV_LAYO in every role that contained a report access (honest design mistake), hence that is why we created a separate role contained just S_ALV_LAYO w/ 23 access --> to managers only.
In our generic system role that is given to everyone, we have both S_ALV_LAYO (as blank) and F_IT_ALV (as 01, 02) so all non-manager users are able to create/save local layout & still view global layout.
F_IT_ALV activity 70 gives the authority to overwrite other's local layout (the "Manage Layout" access), so we only gave 01 and 02. Be careful here, as giving 03 (display) will make all other activities inactive.

Master data - it is the data which is used long term in SAP r/3 system such as vendor master , material master, customer master,
there is no such thing like user master data to the best of my knowledge

Excel Services and Excel Web Access Web Part on O365 SharePoint...

I am using O365 E3 w/SharePoint and I have successfully created Pivot Charts via PowerPivot to query oData feeds from a couple of SharePoint lists. I was not able to refresh the data on O365 until I performed
this operation.
I updated the data connections in the report to refresh when the report is opened (which runs when the page with a referenced chart is accessed), but now there is a "Query and Refresh Data" warning that appears when the page is loaded; poor UX.
I have read that there is a way to turn off this warning in SharePoint on-prem, but that doesn't help me with this nagging dialog box. I tried to move the report to a BI site in the collection and changed the report to use data connection files in the Data
Collection Library hoping for enough trust for this message to cease, but ... No joy.
Is there anything That I can do to keep the refresh on page load and lose the warning on O365? Maybe there is a Javascsript workaround someone can help with (I'm not much of a JS Dev).

According to your post, I have done a test in my SharePoint on-line and reappeared your issue.
If the issue occurred at SharePoint on- premise, go to SharePoint Central Administration > Application Management > Service Applications > Manage service applications > Excel Services
application > Trusted File Locations and click on the Address that contains the workbook. In the External Data section, under Warn on Refresh, uncheck Refresh warning enabled and click OK.

Unfortunately, the feature to disable the ‘Data Refresh Warning’ is not available yet in SharePoint Online.
Because the option needs the SharePoint Central Admin level permission that is not opened to the public in Office 365 now.

Hi Abhai,
The class (actually Interface) you're looking for is IUserAccount. You can get this from the IUser by using the method getUserAccounts().
The IUserAccount provides all sort of methods like lockDate(), isLocked(), getLockReason().

How to fetch user specific data from View?

I have a requirement in which I need to display table data specific to Session_user only. Scenario is if user belongs to a specific region he should be able to see data related to that specific region only.
I am thinking of passing session_user name in view query but do not know whether it's possible or not.If possible how to do this.

First thing is that you need to implement security in your application, if you configured security then, Take a session scope bean in your un bounded task flow
inside that session bean , you can get the information from security context, then write a static block inside your session bean and modify the fallowing code according to your requirement

SecurityContext securityContext=adfc.getSecurityContext();// instantiate the SecurityContext
String username=securityContext.getUserName(); // returns the username from the security Context who are currently logged in
Once you written this code just assign this username to session scope variable
Map sessionScope =
(Map)ADFContext.getCurrent().getSessionScope().put("UserName", username);
So that the username with the key UserName will be available throughout your session
and Apply in where clause according to the user logged in, or else you may directly use
adf.context.securityContext.userName at the bind variable what ever you used inside your view criteria.

Excel Upload and moving the data to dynamic itab

I am building a fieldcatalog dynamically based on the table name and then creating a dynamic internal table based on the fieldcatalog.Now I have a excel sheet having the fields in the same structure as the fieldcatalog that I built.I want to upload the data in the excel to an internal table having the structure of the fieldcatalog I built.I am having a problem in moving the data from the excel to the itab (dynamic itab built based on the fieldcatalog)

Retrieve date, time, guid and user id data from IP u2013wrong mapping of fields

I have used the How to guide Line Items in BI Integrated Planning to implement the functionality to save the username, guid, date and time of who is planning. I do not get any errors but the field 0uname is empty and the guid field gets the username of the planner (0uname). The date and time field get populated correctly. Why does the fieldu2019s username and guid populated incorrectly? Do I have to change the code (I just copied the code from the How to document)? To me the abap code looks correct.
We use BI 7.0 and SPS 17.

2012 remote desktop service and users temp folders

in windows server 2012 R2 How I can set TEMP folder configuration (clean at logoff) ? in 2008 R2 it is set on terminal host configuration.
I would like that users when logoff nee dto clean temp folders.

We can configure the temporary folders on RDSH server by GPO setting. We can configure the option “Do not delete temp folder upon exit" and the "Do not use temporary folders per session” on below mention
path.
Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Temporary folders
