Exception Clarification

HI all
I , am getting following error
javax.microedition.io.ConnectionNotFoundException: The requested protocol does not exist comm:com2
What may be the cause in raising this exception.
try {
                /************Establishing serial port connection****************/
             connection1=Connector.open("comm:com1");
            System.out.println("connection Sucess");
            getDisplay().setCurrent(get_form2());
        } catch (IOException ex) {
            ex.printStackTrace();

hi sunder,
The IP Address we should mention in the URL for the Http connection,and for the Socket we should have the following
Socket:portNo
I am not sure any way,one more thing most of the MobileDevices doesnot support the Socket connection.They will support the HttpConnection.
About the Installation to The CDMA phone --- I don't used upto now.I am using the Nokia6630 and the LG g7100 sets for the testing.
About the CDMA there was so much discussion was going on in the same forum search for that in previous queries

  • Mass output of SD Invoices..?

    Hi,
    I apologize for the newbie question, but I've searched the NW 7.02 IS-U ERP System, the SCN and google up and down for good part of 2 days already... By now I'm reduced to staring blankly at SD70AV3A and WFMC_ function modules. Could you confirm or dispel my fears please: is there really nothing besides VF31 in SAP ERP to do mass output of SD invoices out of the box? Or am I just failing miserably in my searching..?
    And if that's the case, how would you go about trying to organize mass output into something that has identifiable, user scheduled "Output Runs", with protocols stored in application logs - program everything from scratch, program on top of WFMC_ FMs, on top of something else?
    I'm simply looking for opinions of people other than those who help us with the maintenance of this SD thing here...
    Thank you
    Jānis

    Thanks Suneet and Seegal. Yes, I've seen RSNAST00 too, and one can execute SD70AV3A in background too. My main beefs with the offered functionality are:
    - there seems to be nothing persisted anywhere that could be called "SD Invoice Output Run" - something that says: on so and so date and time, with such and such parameters, so and so executed invoice output run, which processed these Invoices;
    - so far as I can see, the NASTy protocols are not persisted as Application Logs, so I think I can't easily set up EMMA/BPEM exception/clarification case processing for these processes (FM WFMC_PROTOCOL_SHOW does transform the protocols to Application Log temporarily, to display popup; FM CM_F_TRANSFER_INTO_APPL_LOG has no static uses in our system)
    And the one thing to expect during mass output in my experience is exceptions and the need for clarification - lots of it. There may perhaps be ways how I could program own logic to get EMMA/BPEM to work on NAST stuff, but then I could of course try to program the whole SD invoice output application from scratch as well...
    I may be too used to IS-U/FI-CA way of doing things and/or too impatient in expectting the results after looking at stuff for couple of days, but I expect any "Mass Activity" to result in an identifyable and persisted "Run", which lets to to see the start parameters, the stuff it processed and the Application Logs (no, SM37 Job is only a poor replacement for that). The self-learning process for SD output processing seems to be very difficult... my initial (and perhaps too hasty impression) of the functionality is - this is "stone-age" . I've reacquired lots of respect for IS-U/FI-CA developers from looking at SD Invoice output and now think that it was a collosal mistake not to try to integrate SD billing documents into IS-U Invoicing...
    Thanks again and cheers

  • A small clarification in Exception handling

    Please find the simpe program given below on Exception handling I have asked my query at the end of the program
    This program is about throwing a user defined exception when Command line arguments satisfieds one of the checked conditions. Thanks in advance:
    class myexcep extends Exception
    class exception
    public static void main(String arg[])
    try
    for(j = arg.length-1;j>=0;j--)
    checkfood(arg[j]);
    catch(myexcep e1)
    System.out.println("Exception " +e1);
    System.out.println("I dont like this ifood");
    e1.printStackTrace();
    public static void checkfood(String a) throws myexcep
    if (a.equals("Pizza") | a.equals("Brocolli") | a.equals("Pasta"))
    throw new myexcep();
    System.out.println("I like this food " +a);
    The program complies and runs succesfully. After compilation if I give
    c:> java exception cabbage Pizza sub
    3rd and 2nd arguments are evaluated sucessfully and a exception is thrown, when argument "Pizza" is encountered which is succesfully caught by catch block. SO program ends there without even looking at my first argument cabbage.
    Can anyone give me a suggestion as of how to evaluate String "cabbage".

    Swtich the for and the try ... like this:
        for(int j = arg.length-1;j>=0;j--) {
          try {
            checkfood(arg[j]);
          } catch(myexcep e1) {
            System.out.println("Exception " +e1);
            System.out.println("I dont like this ifood");
            e1.printStackTrace();
        }

  • Love the X2 except for 3 main issues which I need help or clarification with

    Hi Everyone, I have pretty much copied and pasted my post from the Motorola forums (with a few minor edits) over here as I do need a little bit of help or insight on my issue.
    I have scoured through the Droid X section trying to find solutions to my problems and I haven't been able to get a solid answer anywhere (here or on other Android/X2 forums).
    I have an X2. I really like this phone. It is solid and has crystal clear sound quality. However, ever since I have had it I have seen intermittent issues pop up and I would like to get some feedback on them or get things put into perspective that it is a known glitch in the interface between the Android OS and the hardware. I bought the phone at Best Buy and every time I bring it in (either back to Best Buy or a Verizon store), as the issue is intermittent, they won't replace the phone. The people at Best Buy have told me to "do a battery pull every morning" which completely offends me as I never had to do anything so drastic with my original Droid until it finally decided to reboot on me every 2 hours (this is when I upgraded to the X2). I had to pick it up from Best Buy as I needed a functional phone immediately and no Verizon store in the area had the X2 in stock.
    The first (and most important issue)... Every once in a while, even though I have full signal, when somebody calls me, my phone will not ring or vibrate. It will ring the full six times on their end but does not show up on my phone as ever receiving or missing the call. After the six rings on their end, it goes to voicemail and after they leave the message, only the voicemail indicator shows up. Over the past month this has happened multiple times (once or twice a week). Those who don't leave messages have had to hunt me down because they thought I had left my phone elsewhere as it never rang or notified me of an incoming call.
    The next two issues are still important to me but they are more of an inconvenience than anything else.
    Sometimes (yes, this is intermittent too but it happens daily), when I wake my phone from sleep, all of the antennas seem to be off and it takes a good second or two to show back up in the status bar (3G, Bluetooth, etc). My question is, have all of the non-CDMA antennas "gone to sleep"? The signal bar for the actual cell service are still there, just not the other services (3G/1X) or wireless settings (Bluetooth/WiFi) for a couple seconds.
    Lastly (and this may be a direct link to the previous question), when I use the "Google Talk" application, the messages I send go through very quickly, but sometimes I do not get replies for a long time after they are sent (30 minutes to and hour later). If I wake the phone, sometimes a previously sent message will come through, and when I check the chat log in Gmail itself, the message was sent from quite a while back (15 minutes to an hour).
    I know I am brand new to your community, and I am sorry to have to burden you all with a post like this as my initial post. However, I have always liked and used Motorola phones with Verizon/GTE (all the way back to the MicroTAC series of the early 90s) without issues or incidents for the most part. As my original Droid was starting to act up I decided to jump on the X2 as it was just released. I understood that it was not going to initially come with Gingerbread and I said I would be patient for the update to come and hopefully it would bring a new level to the phone itself as well as solve some (if not all) of the issues. However, now that it is past my return date, and there is no update as of yet, I do require assistance.
    Thanks in advance for any assistance or insight,
    Tuan

    Thanks for the replies everyone.
    The responses I received over at the Moto forums said the same thing about the battery saver mode. However, I have had the same issue with the radios shutting off during the day while it is in "Nighttime savings mode" so I'm just thinking it's an oddball glitch with the phone's power management settings and clock. I have recently changed the battery mode to "Performance Mode" from Nighttime Savings" as I have the phone plugged into the charger at night anyways. I'm hoping that will take care of both my radio and gtalk issues.
    @Wildman: I have heard the same thing about the GB update from a Verizon rep very recently myself. I am still going to hope for an update sometime in the near future, but I do recall the first update for my Original Droid was months down the line from the release day.
    @Droiddude: Are you just cycling the power? Or are you actually doing physical battery pulls? If cycling the power works for you it would lessen the burden of pulling that Incipio case (Verizon Double Cover) off my phone every time to do battery pulls. It's a great case but wow it's a tight/snug fit.
    @vereyezuhn: I understand that there are possible dead areas in which my main issue may occur. I even have a prepaid phone for the times I am in a Verizon dead zone. However, when my issue occurs, I will be in the same spot for a while. I will receive all my calls, miss one in the manner I have spoken, then receive the following calls normally (SMS/MMS does not seem to be affected either as I seem to receive all of those). This is why I have this specific issue. I have recently cleared the phone's cache partition as well as update the PRL using *228 option 2. We will see over time if this eliminates the issue or at least makes it much more rare.

  • A question about ROLLBACK and Unhandled Exceptions in stored subprograms

    Hi,
    Oracle version :   Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit
                      OS :   Linux Fedora Core 17 (X86_64)
    At chapter 11 of the online PL/SQL Reference, here is what oracle says about Unhandled Exceptions :
    If a stored subprogram exits with an unhandled exception, PL/SQL does not roll back database changes made by the subprogram.
    I tried the following code:
    code
    HOST clear;
    SET SQLBLANKLINES ON;
    ALTER SESSION SET PLSQL_WARNINGS='ENABLE:ALL';
    DROP TABLE tmptab;
    CREATE TABLE tmptab(n NUMBER);
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE pkg1_pkg
    AUTHID DEFINER
    AS
        MYEXCEPTION EXCEPTION;
        PRAGMA      EXCEPTION_INIT(MYEXCEPTION, -20001);
    END;
    SHOW ERRORS;
    -- This is a subprogram which exists
    -- with an unhandled exception
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE mytestProc
    AUTHID DEFINER
    IS
    BEGIN
        INSERT INTO tmptab(n) VALUES(100);
        -- So this unhandled exception does a ROLLBACK
        -- which cancels the previous INSERT statement
        RAISE pkg1_pkg.MYEXCEPTION;
    END mytestProc;
    SHOW ERRORS;
    BEGIN
        mytestProc();
    END;
    SELECT * FROM tmptab;
    And here is the output
    BEGIN
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-20001:
    ORA-06512: at "TRAINING.MYTESTPROC", line 6
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    no rows selected
    The fact that SELECT * FROM tmptab gives: no rows selected indicates that the unhandled exception in the stored subprogram myTestProc did in fact a ROLLBACK for the INSERT statement into the tmptab table.
    So I don't understand why in the documentation it has been mentioned that no ROLLBACK is not done.
    Could anyone kindly make some clarification on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Dariyoosh

    Hi,
    If a stored subprogram exits with an unhandled exception, PL/SQL does not roll back database changes made by the subprogram.
    What's going on here is that an anonymous block (which is not stored) exits with an unhandled exception, and that does roll back uncommitted transactions.
    I created a procedure to see how many rows are in tmptab:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE tmptab_cnt (in_txt  IN  VARCHAR2)
    AUTHID DEFINER
    AS
         n    PLS_INTEGER;
    BEGIN
         SELECT  COUNT (*)
         INTO    n
         FROM    tmptab;
        dbms_output.put_line (  n
                             || ' rows in tmptab in '
                             || in_txt
    END  tmptab_cnt;
    and called it from your procedure, and also from your anonymous block:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE mytestProc
    AUTHID DEFINER
    IS
    BEGIN
        INSERT INTO tmptab(n) VALUES(100);
        tmptab_cnt ('mytestProc');
        RAISE pkg1_pkg.MYEXCEPTION;
    END mytestProc;
    SHOW ERRORS;
    BEGIN
        mytestProc();
    EXCEPTION
      WHEN OTHERS THEN
        tmptab_cnt ('anonymous block');
        RAISE;
    END;
    The output from this is:
    Procedure created.
    No errors.
    1 rows in tmptab in mytestProc
    1 rows in tmptab in anonymous block
    BEGIN
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-20001:
    ORA-06512: at line 6
    no rows selected
    As you can see, there was 1 row in the table after the procedure returned to the anonymous block.
    Thanks for posting such a clear and complete test script; that really helps.
    How did you format the code, with the green background and the title?

  • (Class cast Exception)Problem while loading data fro database in java class

    Dear all,
    Please help me...to solve this
    I have a database having two columns of String and Date Types.
    In my java code i was trying to load the data to a UI.
    I am successfull in loading the String type value.
    But while loading date field value,is showing Class cast Exception.
    What i am doing is Getting the values from database to a String[] array.
    So my question is how to
    get the Date field as date field itself,Then convert it to a String..Then put it in to String[] array...
    Any body please help...If any one want more clarification in question i will give......

    Hi,
    I am using GWT to display my data in a Grid.
    So it will accept a Single two dimensional String array....Here i have one as String and other as Date.
    So i was trying to get each row in a sindle dimensional array array[] then store it in a list.
    Iteration goes up to 10 rows.After i am setting it in to a list
    ie list.add(array);
    Now while returning this list i am doing this
    "return (String[][])list.toArray(new String[0][]);"
    When i tried to get the date element to String array it is showing class cast exception. When i tried with toString() method it is showing the same problem.

  • Why is exception not thrown in AseCommand when "Truncation error occurred"?

    In the below SQL, data is written to SOURCE and from there to TARGET.
    The DECIMAL columns in TARGET are deliberately smaller than those in SOURCE (eg a DECIMAL (12, 2) column populated from a DECIMAL (19,11) source).
    When I run this in an Query tool (eg, SqlDbx) I get the messages:
    "Truncation error occurred
    Command has been aborted"
    But when I run this using the .net Client (supplied with the Developer Edition of ASE 16.0) no exception is thrown (the INSERT fails though).  The method is AseCommand.ExecuteNonQuery().
    Is this deliberate?
    Is this believed to be correct?
    How can I tell that a truncation error has been raised?
    Thanks

    Hi Dave,
    I am consulting internally on this. To my understanding, this behavior is based on the ASE severity level, as returned in the TDS_EED token. AseExceptions are thrown when severity level is 11 or higher.
    Our docs are not explanatory in this regard.  Once I get clarification we will provide something in the form of wiki or KBA or doc bug to further explain the detail.  Apologize for the delay and problems this caused. I guess since the command is aborted by ASE, therefore no insertion occurs, even though ASE indicates truncation occurs prior - makes this confusing.
    The message severity, etc is controlled by ASE and the client is just following suit according to the TDS spec. Its just lacking in the client docs. This can be remedied.
    ASE does provide the option to allow truncation and not abort.  It's a set command:
    Enter a query:
    1 > set arithabort numeric_truncation off
    Enter a query:
    1 > INSERT dbo.TARGET (S_Name_NVARCHAR,S_RedComponent_DEC_15_6,S_BlueComponent_DEC_12_2,S_GreenComponent_DEC_18_10) SELECT LEFT( S.Name_NVARCHAR,8000),S.GreenComponent_DEC,S.GreenComponent_DEC,S.GreenComponent_DEC FROM (SELECT * FROM SOURCE
    ) S
    4 rows Affected.
    Notice though ASE does NOT send truncation message. This is when it is well known and accepted to insert and truncate the numeric data.
    Cheers,
    -Paul

  • Exception handling in File to IDoc Scenario

    Hi,
    I have successfully configured File to IDoc Scenario. Now I want to include some exception handling which should be capable of create a mail to recipient when a mapping error occurs.
    Can anybody help me out?

    Hi Suraj,
    A few points while creating ALERTS.
    <b>TESTING YOUR ALERT CONFIGURATIOn</b>
    go to <b>se37 --></b> and <b>execute the report RSALERTTEST</b>. GIve your ALERT CATEGORY in this report. If your ALERTS are configured properly, then your Alert would be triggered and you can see the entry in ALERT INBBOX.
    <b>ALERT RULE</b>
    Make sure that in your Alert Rule, <b>the option Suppress Multiple Alerts of this rule has not been seelcted</b>.
    Finally, if you are on SP14 and above check this note <b>913858</b> for alerts.
    If you are below Sp14, then this blog can help you set the background processes needed.

    No BPMis needed to trigger alerts in either case.
    Do get back for any clarifications,

  • Need a clarification in File to File scenario...

    Hi frens,
    I need a clarification from you allu2026.
    Normally in file to file scenario, the input file will be picked from a directory location and after processing output file and that will be placed in the output directory location specified in the receiver communication channel.
    In the sender communication channel for the scenario mentioned above, if the processing mode is given as delete, the input file will be u201Cdeleteu201D as soon as the file was successfully read by the adapter, but this will not ensure that the file processing is complete and the output file is being created.
    But can we create a scenario which will ensures that the input file is deleted from the input folder only if the complete process is successful and the output is generatedu2026.

  • Return statement in exception and consequences

    Hi,
    Can any one give me the explanation for my doubt?
    Case 1:
    I am having some code throwing some exception lets say arithematic exception in my try block.
    I caught it in the catch block and at last I am having one finally?
    as per normal order try block next catch block and at last finally will execute.
    I execute the above code by putting a return statement inside catch block.I got the same order of execution irrespective of return statement inside catch?
    What is the significance of return inside catch?
    Case 2:
    Lets take the scenario.
    class MyException
         public static void main(String[] args)
              int i=1,j=0;
              try
                   try
                   System.out.println("the value is: "+(i/j));
                   System.out.println("Inside try block");
                   catch(ArithmeticException e)
                   System.out.println("hi in ame");
                   //return;
              finally
              System.out.println("inner finally");
                                            System.out.println("outer try");
              catch(Exception e)
                             e.printStackTrace();
                   System.out.println("in exception");
              finally
                   System.out.println("plz wait");
    If return statement is there inside the inner try and catch the code out of inside outer try not getting executed Why So?
    Any clarifications?
    Thanking you,
    Murthy.

    First, please format your code as per http://forum.java.sun.com/features.jsp#Formatting
    I'm not sure what part you don't understand.
    .    public static void main(String[] args) {
    .        try {
    .            try {
    .                throw new ArithmeticException();
    .                System.out.println("Inside try block"); // #1
    .            catch(ArithmeticException e) {
    .                System.out.println("hi in ame"); // #2
    .                return;
    .            finally {
    .                System.out.println("inner finally"); // #3
    .            System.out.println("outer try"); // #4
    .        catch(Exception e) {
    .            System.out.println("in exception"); // #5
    .        finally {
    .            System.out.println("plz wait"); // #6
    .    }#1 -- You won't get here because you throw AME.
    #2 -- You will get here because you caught the AME you just threw.
    #3 -- You will get here because it's a finally
    #4 -- You won't get here. I think that this is what you're asking about: Why don't we get here? Because we've already done 'return' and this line is NOT inside a finally. The only things that can get executed after a return are finally blocks.
    #5 -- You won't get here because you already caught the AME and didn't rethrow it or any other exception.
    #6 -- You will get here because it's a finally.
    Once you do a return, the only code you can execute before exiting the method are finally blocks. First the one corresponding to the try/cathc block where your return is, then the finally for the try/catch that encloses that one, and so on outward. The code between one finally and the next (#4 here) is NOT executed.
    If you still have a question, please try to clarify exactly what behavior you don't understand.
    Don't return from inside t/c/f.

  • Clarification on tax base amount

    Hello SAP Gurus
    I need some clarification on tax base amount.
    when we make PO, there is a base amount of material and has excise conditions. now when we do MIGO with capture & post excise, one excise tab comes in item details, which shows all the duty values and tax base amount.
    is this base amount & duties in MIGO are coming from PO?
    if i change tax base amount and duties values in MIGO, what will be the impact?
    if i change only duty values not tax base amount in MIGO, what will be the impact?
    when we do MIRO, system proposes amount from PO, when we simulate, from where the excise duty values are flowing from PO or MIGO?
    in MIRO screen, does system calculate the duties based on the amount coming in MIRO or it picks data from MIGO?
    i need above clarification because i am not able to post vendor invoices during MIRO, system shows "The tax amount must not be greater than the tax base". this is happening, when we are posting over value vendor invoices.
    during MIGO, in some case duty values have been changed keeping tax base amount as per PO, in some case tax base amount and duty values both have been changed based on vendor invoice. pl help.
    thanks & regards'

    Hi
    I have already done that in VKOA, accounting document showing tax code, tax amount, GL account except Base amount.

  • Clarification on Character set migration from US7ASCII to UTF8

    Hi,
    I need clarification on the below.
    I need to migrate the database from US7ASCII to UTF8.
    For this I ran csscan for user "TEST" as well as against full database.
    Below log is the csscan output against full database. but my application is depended on TEST schema only. Shall I need to migrate SYS objects data as shown below or it's not required?. If required how to migrate these objects data?
    Looking forward you help.
    USER.TABLE Convertible Exceptional
    SYS.METASTYLESHEET 58 TEST.Table_1 9 0
    TEST.Table_2 11 0
    TEST.Table_3 17 0
    TEST.Table_4 11 0
    [Distribution of Convertible Data per Column]
    USER.TABLE|COLUMN Convertible Exceptional
    SYS.METASTYLESHEET|STYLESHEET 58 0
    Thanks,
    Sankar

    I think you need to migrate all schemas data not only one application schema because
    the database character set is common to all CHAR, VARCHAR2, LONG and CLOB colums
    for any tables in any schema.
    In your case (US7ASCII to UTF8), you need to use export/import because:
    Another restriction of the ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET statement is that it can be used only when the character set migration is between two single-byte character sets or between two multibyte character sets. If the planned character set migration is from a single-byte character set to a multibyte character set, then use the Export and Import utilities.

  • NullPointer Exception

    Hi,
    When I am reading the model node element, it is throwing error since there is no value from model.
    But ! I want read the model node element whether it is having value or not so based on that I can assign the value to value node.  but ! it is throwing error "NullpointerException" when reading itself.
    How can i resolve that ?
    Regards,
    Jyothi

    Hi Jyothi,
    I have refered to the earlier thread from your side:
    Validating the model node
    I think there is some problem in the code mentioned. And as expected there will be a null pointer exception:
    Please try this:
    IWDNode node = wdContext.nodeModelNode();
           int n  = 0;
           if( node!=null && wdContext.nodeModelNode().size()>0){
                n = wdContext.nodeModelNode.size();
           for(int i=0;i<n;i++)
                String name = wdContext.nodeModelNode.get<Model>elementatindex(i).getName();
                if (condition)
    //                 fetch the data from the RFC and set in the value node as
                     IPrivateviewname.Icomponentname ele = wdcontext.node<valenode>.createElement();
                     ele.set(name);
    //                 and so on
                     wdcontext.nodevaluenode.addelement(ele);
    The changes which I have made is:
    1) Check the model node before calculating the size.
    2) Remove the invalidate function for the value node which is there. Invalidating the value node in the for loop will cause the removal of all values from value node and only the last value will persist in the node. Then if you try to access this value node with some index which is > 0 then it will give you a NULL pointer or Array out of Index exception.
    I hope this helps you!  Please revert back in case you need some more clarifications.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Exception while working with Tibco adapter for Tuxedo!!

    Dear friends,:-)
    Greetings!
    I am facing an exception while working with "Tuxedo Adapter".
    I have installed TIBCO Adapter for Tuxedo on my machine which has both bea_Client and Server. I am trying to do a PurchaseOrder POC, which is already given in our TIBCO Adapter directory (C:\TIBCO\adapter\adtuxedo\5.3\examples\AgentBased\PurchaseOrder).
    The scenario goes like this, a request is sent from the Tuxedo client called clt, which invokes the Tuxedo service, which in turn sends a request to the adapter (“PublicationService”) through the adapter agent, and then the adapter publishes the data to the TIBCO environment. TIBCO BW receives the data using “Adapter Subscriber” and writes them to an XML output file named Get_output.xml.
    Problem in starting the Adapter - :(
    When I tried to RUN the make.bat which is placed at the “C:\TIBCO\adapter\adtuxedo\5.3\examples\AgentBased\PurchaseOrder” folder, it throws me the error.
    At the time of executing this script, “buildclient -o clt -f client.c”, it says that I don’t have a valid “TUXEDO SDK LICENSE”. The thrown exception is, "TUXNT_CAT:101: ERROR: You do not have a valid TUXEDO SDK license".
    Please tell me, is license Required to run the tux_client?
    also,please clarify, while configuring “tibco.env.WSNADDR”(i.e., Workstation Address of the Tuxedo server to connect to) I have given my machine IP ADDRESS with a unique port. i.e., //10.103.18.120:4020. I am not sure with this step. Please advice me!
    It would be great if you could please solve this issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Best Regards,

    Hi Venkatesh,
    Please see comments in line.

    Dear Wayne,
    Thanks a ton for your reply.
    Please clarify,
    buildclient is a Tuxedo command which is used to generate the Tuxedo client
    application. It needs Tuxedo SDK license, so you need to make sure the
    license is installed properly.
    Can you please let me know from where i can get the License? Can we download
    it online?
    [W] BEA provide a trial license in the product donwload site, but I am not
    sure Tuxedo 8.0 is provide or not. If you or your customer has Tuxedo
    installation, the license should alread be ready. It is located at
    $TUXDIR/udataobj/lic.txt.
    Running tuxedo client does not require SDK license.
    I am not sure how to start it. I am actually running the BAT file which has
    the following scripts,
    set TUXDIR=C:\bea\tuxedo8.0
    set WSNADDR=//10.103.18.120:4020
    set TUX_ADAPTER_HOME=C:\TIBCO\adapter\adtuxedo\5.3
    set TIBCO_RV_HOME=C:\TIBCO\TIBRV
    set APPDIR=%TUX_ADAPTER_HOME%\examples\AgentBased\PurchaseOrder
    set
    PATH=%TUXDIR%\bin;%APPDIR%;%PATH%;%TUX_ADAPTER_HOME%\hotfix\lib;%TUX_ADAPTER_HOME%\lib;%TIBCO_RV_HOME%/bin
    set TUXCONFIG=%APPDIR%\tuxconfig
    set ULOGPFX=%APPDIR%\ulog
    buildclient -o clt -f client.c
    buildserver -o server -f server.c -s POINFO -l
    %TUX_ADAPTER_HOME%\lib\agent.lib
    tmloadcf -y ubbagent
    tmboot ¨Cy
    Up to my knowledge, I hope TIBCO TUXEDO
    (ie.,TIB_adtuxedo-simple_5.3.0_w32_tuxedo80) acts as a TUXEDO_Server which
    receives the Request from TUX_BEA Client(Ex: C:\bea\tuxedo8.0).
    Or, does Tuxedo have a seperate Server installed on the machine other than
    TIBCO? please clarify.
    [W] I don't know the detail about TIBCO Tuxedo adaptor. Following
    clarifications for your reference,
    1. Tuxedo is an application infrastructure with framework for server and
    client. buildclient is used to generate the client binary and buildserver is
    used for application server linkage.
    2. I guess the TIBCO Tuxedo adaptor is a Tuxedo application client(or
    server?) which acts as a proxy process between TIBCO system and Tuxedo
    applications. So it receives request from TIBCO system and transform the
    requet to native Tuxedo data buffers and make the Tuxedo calls, then relay
    the reply back. So first you have to figure out the exact working model of
    it and check your Tuxedo applications.
    Your reply would be appreciated!
    Thanks a ton in Advance!

  • Reviewed documentation on Reporting: I will appreciate some clarification

    Hi,
    Reviewed documentation on Reporting: I will appreciate some clarification:
    1. Can you help me understand what "Staging" means as used here:
    A data warehouse system serves primarily to stage information from various data source
    The information is staged in various forms including personalized reports, freely definable queries, and predefined reports.
    2. Is RemoteCube the same as Virtual Cubes? if not, what is the difference?
    3. Can you help me understand what "flexible update" means as used here:
    Characteristic InfoObjects have to be included in the InfoProvider tree in the Data Warehousing Workbench to make them available as data targets for flexible updates and as InfoProviders for reporting.
    4. "DataStore Objects are available for transaction data and for master data."
    When do we decide to store master data in a DSO?
    5. Formula Collision vs. "Exception Aggregation"
    I understand what formula collision is about but is it the same as "Exception Aggregation"?
    If not, do you have a real-life example to help me understand the concept of "Exception Aggregation"?
    The documentation/link is not helping.
    6. i. With the followin limitation on Display attribute, why not always make the attribute Navigational?
    "You can show Display Attributes in a report in the drilldown. However, navigation steps are not possible. (For example, you cannot choose values from a display attribute as a filter.)"
    ii. Any example where Nav Attrib does not make sense but it must be Display attrib?
    Thanks

    Hi Amanda,
    2. Is RemoteCube the same as Virtual Cubes? if not, what is the difference?
         Yes, they are one and the same.
    3.Can you help me understand what "flexible update" means as used here:
    Characteristic InfoObjects have to be included in the InfoProvider tree in the Data Warehousing Workbench to make them available as data targets for flexible updates and as InfoProviders for reporting.
    in 3.x, you have infosources and not transformations. So you have basically two types of infosources, direct update and flexible update.
    Direct update infosources do not have any update rules. These are used for master data loading since the format of data is usually fixed as in fields etc.
    Flexible update datasources have update rules, which means that you can use it for loading pretty much anything. You can load master data by changing the update rules and you can use the same infosource for loading transactional data as well. What the statement means is that the infoobject has been set as an infoprovider. and therefore it can be used as a source in a query. The loading is done via flexible updates.
    More info on direct and flexible updates can be found here :[3.x InfoSource Types|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/87/3fdf9587f211d5b2ff0050da4c74dc/frameset.htm]
    5)Formula Collision vs. "Exception Aggregation"
    I understand what formula collision is about but is it the same as "Exception Aggregation"?
    If not, do you have a real-life example to help me understand the concept of "Exception Aggregation"?
    The documentation/link is not helping.
    I'm glad that you understand what formula collision is...since its a difficult concept. Exception aggregation is much simpler.
    For every key figure that is present in BW,  there are two types of aggregations that can be maintained.
    Standard: can be sum etc.
    and exception aggregation like avg etc. When you do this, you need to give a reference characteristic. By default this is time. and usually it is summation. Now when you drilldown in your query based on the ref. characteristic, the exception aggregation is used.
    Eg [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/d2/e0173f5ff48443e10000000a114084/frameset.htm]
    Essentially this is a preference or a personal choice basically. You can have several attributes. but keeping all of them as navigational does not help and degrades system performance as they have to be interlinked. For eg.
    You have an employee ID as your characteristic.
    attributes are as follows
    Date of birth
    division
    salary stack
    *** etc
    now things like division,salary stack and  *** could be used as filters in a query but date of birth would in general not be used as filter and hence would make no sense to use it as a navigational attribute(unless you want to find all employees whose birthday is a certain date ).
    In the end, it just comes down to the requirement. If you are required to put a filter on an attribute of master data, then it needs to be a nav. attribute else a display attribute would suffice.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.
