Hello Experts,
When i put the following SQL statment in the Univesre i am getting the error.
Exception: DBD, MicrosoftODBC SQL Server DriverSQL ServerStatement(s) could not be prepared.State:42000
Code.
QAS.qas.CRMD_ORDERADM_I.ORDERED_PROD = QAS.qas.ZCOMV_PR_CAT.PRODUCT_ID AND
QAS.qas.CRMD_PARTNER.PARTNER_FCT= CASE QAS.qas.ZCOMV_PR_CAT.CATEGORY_ID_MAST WHEN 'ZUCORD' THEN 'ZCRMBY' ELSE '00000001 ' END
Regards,
Shiva Kumar G.C
The correct syntax for case statements is:
CASE WHEN condition = outcome then result WHEN condition2 = outcome2 then result2 ELSE result3 END
I think the first bit is a touch disjointed.
What is the logic that you are trying to represent?

Hi All,
I have this technical environment:
-BOXIR3.1.
-DB: SQL server 2005.
-OS: Windows server 2003.
When i try to create a report under Deski, with 2 objects, i get this error:
"Exception: DBD, [ ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Impossible

Note : I have tried all the tests(under the server, with administrator account.. ) but i get the same problem under Deski, but under Webi when i create the same Query nothings happen, in other words it works.
I have copied the SQL query:

Edited by: Aimen Akriche on Apr 24, 2009 10:36 AMHi Aimen,
Following solution might be helpful in resolving the issue.
SQL statement is case sensitive in Business Objects.
Follow these steps:
Test the connection in your universe and click Details.
From Details, copy and run the path for the PRM file used by your connection which will open the relevant PRM file in Notepad.
Modify the following parameter (or add to the PRM file if it does not exist) as follows:
<Parameter Name="CASE_SENSITIVE">N</Parameter>
Save the PRM file.
Close and relaunch Designer.

Unable to catch raiseerror exception from MS SQL Server Exception in hibernate
I am using raiseerror in MS SQL Server exception to throw customized error and it is working fine in database.
But, I am unable to catch MS SQL Server Exception in hibernate. Please find the database & java syntax below.
SQL Server Syntax:-

@ErrorLine = ERROR_LINE(),
@ErrorProcedure = ISNULL(ERROR_PROCEDURE(), '-'),
@ErrorMessage = @ERRMSG

Query callStoredProcedure = session.createSQLQuery("{PROCEDUR_NAME(?,?)}");
callStoredProcedure.setInteger(0, prj);
callStoredProcedure.setString(1, status);
callStoredProcedure.executeUpdate();
}catch (HibernateException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
HibernateUtil.commitTxn(shouldCommit);
Thanks in advanceHI! We have the same problem. Have you manage to resolve it?

Unhandled exception when installing SQL Server 2008 R2
I tried to download SQL Server 2008 R2 Express it ran for about 30 minutes and then gave a Net Framework error stating that "an Unhandled exception has occurred in your
application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue....." Once I clicked Continue and it did continue to run and then brought up an info screen with no semblance of the download having worked. I had successfully
installed SQL Server 2005 Express previously. I uninstalled it along with the Studio Manager. Do I need to uninstall .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 4 Client Profile which are still currently installed before I can install 2008?Sorry I have to reopen this. But I have a similar, but not the same problem.
I have Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, with VS 2010 professional on my notebook, quad core processor with 8gb of ram and plenty of disk space. I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer edition on my computer. .Net 4.0 was installed, as was .Net 3.5.1
(from the "Turn Windows Features On/Off" of Programs and Features Control Panel applet).
When I try to install, I get a Dialog labelled "Microsoft .NET Framework", then the error is "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click on Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit,
the application will close immediately. <p> An error occurred create the configuration section handler for userSettings/Microsoft.SqlServer. Configuration.LandingPage.Properties.Settings: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Version=4.0.0.0.Culture-neutral.

I have removed .Net 4, I have removed .Net 3.5.1 and readded it, rebooting after each step.
any help on this would be appreciated.

Hmmm. Is this a new driver version, or just coincidence? -- The same problem
was posted in this newsgroup last week. I'm beginning to suspect
there is a bug in the MS driver.
Anyhow, please contact BEA customer support. Meanwhile, the work-around is
to use WebLogic's driver.

Summary
Symptom
During the lifetime of a database (any db not only SAP Business One) and due to insert\update\delete of data, the information in indexes is fragmented. Fragmentation exists when indexes have pages in which the logical ordering, based on the key value, does not match the physical ordering inside the data file. Heavily fragmented indexes can cause slow performance.

Troble configuring Hyperion Shared Services with SQL Server 2005
I recently installed SQL server (SQL SERVER 2005) in my machine and then am trying to install Hyperion (9.3.1) products. I started with Shared services. It was installed successfully. Problem is occuring when am trying to configure Shared service with SQL database using Hyperion Configuration utility (9.3.1)
The error which is popping up is
Unable to connect to the database for the product Hyperion Shared Services.
Things which I tried from my end
1. Made sure TCP IP Protocol was enabled in SQL server configuration server.
2. hypuser was created in SQl server.
3. hypdb was created in SQL server.
4. Was having dynamic IP address so install Loopback adapter to obtain Static IP address and port.
5. Port and IP address was correct.
Let me know where I am going wrong.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.Finally got it fixed firewall settings needed to be change : This document helped me a lot to troubleshoot the issue
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)
This problem may occur when SQL Server 2005 is not configured to accept incoming local and remote connections, which is disabled by default in SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and also SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. To solve the connection forbidden problem, SQL Server 2005 needs to configure to allow incoming local and remote connections.
Firstly, ensure that SQL Server 2005 is configured properly to allow incoming connections on the instance of database server, else enable and turn on the local and remote connections setting.
Click Start button, then go to Programs or All Programs, then select Microsoft SQL Server 2005, followed by Configuration Tools. Click and run the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.
On the “SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration” page, click Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections.
On the “Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections” page, expand Database Engine tree, click Remote Connections.
Select Local and remote connections, or Local connections only which applicable only if there is no remote system tries to connect to the SQL Server, useful when you just trying to connect and authenticate with the server after installing.
Select the appropriate protocol to enable to local and/or remote connections environment. To ensure maximum compatibility, select Using both TCP/IP and named pipes.
Click Apply button when done.
Click OK button when prompted with the message saying that “Changes to Connection Settings will not take effect until you restart the Database Engine service.”
On the “Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections” page, expand Database Engine, then click Service.
Click Stop button to stop the SQL Server service.
Wait until the MSSQLSERVER service stops, and then click Start button to restart the MSSQLSERVER service.
Secondly, SQL Server Browser service has to be enabled to allow for local and remote connections if SQL Server 2005 is running by using an instance name and users are not using a specific TCP/IP port number in the connection string.
On the “Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections” page, click SQL Server Browser.
Select Automatic as the Startup type to start SQL Server Browser service automatically every time system starts.
Click Apply button.
Click on Start button to start the service immediately.
Click OK button.
Finally, if remote computer needs to connect and access SQL Server, an exceptions in Windows Firewall included in Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2), Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista needs to be created. If you’re using third-party firewall system, the exception rules also needed to be created to allow external remote connections to the SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Browser Service to communicate through the firewall, else connections will be blocked. Consult the firewall manual for more details. Each instance of SQL Server 2005 must have its own exception, together with an exclusion for SQL Server Browser service.
SQL Server 2005 uses an instance ID as part of the path when you install its program files. To create an exception for each instance of SQL Server, you must identify the correct instance ID. To obtain an instance ID, follow these steps:
Click Start button, then go to Programs or All Programs, then select Microsoft SQL Server 2005, followed by Configuration Tools. Click and run the SQL Server Configuration Manager.
In “SQL Server Configuration Manager”, click the SQL Server Browser service in the right pane, right-click the instance name in the main window, and then click Properties.
On the “SQL Server Browser Properties” page, click the Advanced tab, locate the instance ID in the property list.
Click OK button.
Then create an exception for SQL Server 2005 in Windows Firewall.
Click on Start button, the click on Run and type firewall.cpl, and then click OK. For Windows Vista, type firewall.cpl in Start Search box and press Enter key, then click on Allow a program through Windows Firewall link on left tasks pane.
In “Windows Firewall”, click the Exceptions tab, and then click Add Program.
In the “Add a Program” window, click Browse button.
Click the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe executable program, click Open button. MSSQL.1 with is a placeholder for the instance ID that is obtained from previous procedure. Note that the path may be different depending on where SQL Server 2005 is installed.
Click OK button.
Repeat steps 1 through 5 for each instance of SQL Server 2005 that needs an exception.
For SQL Server Browser service, locate the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlbrowser.exe executable program, and click Open button.
Click OK button. -

Can you guys please help me.
RegardsHello,
Try the following commands from your computer and
from the local server:
SQLCMD -E -S mymachinen_name\MSSQLSERVER
SQLCMD -E -S mymachinen_name
Use SQL Server Management Studio and connect
to the SQL server with the SA account
and password. If this does not work,
your SA account is disabled or the SQL
server is configured for Windows authentication.
If MSSQLSERVER is the default instance
of your SQL Server, do not use it in your
command line SQLCMD
Check on your SQL server
remote connections are enabled
If you are using TCP / IP, add an inbound
TCP exception in the firewall of your SQL
server on port used by your SQL Server instance
+ an inbound UDP 1434
exception for the SQL Server Browser service

I received the following error when I gave the following statement in select:
case when {fn_year(FINANCE_PERIOD.FP_START)} @prompt('Enter Year','N',,mono,free)
then 1 else 0
end
Parse failed: Exception: DBD, [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Syntax Error or access violationState: 42000
I looked at differnt forums but could not fnd the error.Sams Latin
then try this:
CASE
WHEN YEAR(FINANCE_PERIOD.FP_START) = @Prompt('Enter Year','N',here give class/object or LOV's,mono,free) THEN 1 ELSE 0
END
Note: In case of Date , you can make it blank (3rd parameter), which gives you calendar at runtime.
I suggest you try it in step by step like:
>> @Prompt('Enter Year','N',here give class/object or LOV's,mono,free)
Parse it, succeed. Then
>> YEAR(FINANCE_PERIOD.FP_START)

SP 2013 Server + Dec 2013 CU. Upgrading from SharePoint 2010.
We have a web application that is distributed over 7-8 content databases from SharePoint 2010. All but one database are upgradable. However, one database gives:
Invalid object name 'Webs'.
while running Test-SPContentDatabase or Mount-SPContentDatabase.
EventViewer has the following reporting 5586 event Id:
Unknown SQL Exception 208 occurred. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.Invalid object name 'Webs'.
After searching a bit, these links do not help:

we are trying PowerShell only.
http://blog.thefullcircle.com/2013/06/mount-spcontentdatabase-and-test-spcontentdatabase-fail-with-either-invalid-object-name-sites-or-webs/
In our case, these are content databases. This is validated from Central Admin.

Our's is SharePoint 2013
http://zimmergren.net/technical/findbestcontentdatabaseforsitecreation-problem-after-upgrading-to-sharepoint-2013-solution
Does not seem like the same exact problem.
Any additional input?
Thanks, Soumya | MCITP, SharePoint 2010Hi,
“All but one database are upgradable. However, one database gives:
Invalid object name 'Webs'.”
Did the sentence you mean only one database not upgrade to SharePoint 2013 and given the error?
One or more of the following might be the cause:
Insufficient SQL Server database permissions
SQL Server database is full
Incorrect MDAC version
SQL Server database not found
Incorrect version of SQL Server
SQL Server collation is not supported
Database is read-only
To resolve the issue, you can refer to the following article which contains the causes and resolutions.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee513056(v=office.14).aspx
Thanks,
Jason

Exceptions thrown while importing tables from SQL Server 2000
Hi all,
<MyProblem:
I cannot import the tables defined in my local SQL Server. An exception is thrown --oracle.jdeveloper.cm.ds.db.ValidationException: Columns of type varchar cannot have a size specified.
/>
<What I have done:
In Oracle JDev 10g, Created a new DB connection called "SQLServerConnection" to connect to the SQL Server and it works fine. I am able to see all tables by expanding the connection.
During the creation of a new partner link named "DBAdapter", I use the adapter wizard to select DB Adapter and then select the "SQLServerConnection" DB connection I have created. I select Perform an Operation on a Table and then check Select. After I pressed OK button on the[i] Import Tables dialog, a Error messege box emmerged indicating the Exception: Columns of type varchar cannot have a size specified.
I try to change the data type of the columns of the tables to char, there is still similar exception (Columns of type char cannot have a size specified).
/>
I got the stack trace from the prompt by using jdev.exe.

Thank you.
I followed the steps and the there were no exceptions then.
However, new runtime error emerged.

Can't access SQL Server from a library [SMO Server throws exception]
I have code that creates a SMO server object and then creates a set of tables in the target database. It works fine, if the code is in the main executable. If the code's in a library, it invariably throws an exception. The code's bog simple,
SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(connectionStringTarget);
Server server = new Server(new ServerConnection(connection));
I can open the connection, so I know that there's nothing wonky there. (There's also the fact that it works if compiled into the exe.)
Here's the error:
Message: "Connection type is not valid."
Source: "Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlEnum"
Stack: " at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ExecuteSql.InitConnection(Object con)\r\n at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ExecuteSql..ctor(Object con)\r\n at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ExecuteSql.GetServerVersion(Object con)\r\n at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.SqlServer.GetServerVersion(Object conn)\r\n at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Environment.GetServerVersion(Urn urn, Object ci)\r\n at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Environment.GetObjectsFromCache(Urn urn, Object ci)\r\n at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Environment.GetData(Request req, Object ci)\r\n at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Enumerator.GetData(Object connectionInfo, Request request)\r\n at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Enumerator.Process(Object connectionInfo, Request request)"
Target: {Void InitConnection(System.Object)}
I'm developing using Visual Studio 2008, on Windows XP. The database that I'm trying to connect to is SQL Server 2005, and I'm pretty sure that it's current on its patches. I haven't been able to find any help on the "connection type is not valid" error, or why it doesn't work in a library. Any pointers would be appreciated.I received the same error message when using the following code:
using System.Data.SqlClient;
using Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo;
using Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common;
sqlConnection = new SqlConnection(DatabaseConnectionString);
ServerConnection serverConnection = new ServerConnection(sqlConnection);
svr = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server(serverConnection);
db = svr.Databases["master"];
The "Connection type is not valid" exception would be thrown when trying to execute the last line of code above. In my case, the problem turned out to be with the references I had added to my project. I was using the following references in my project:
Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo
Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo
Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum
Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlEnum
On closer inspection I found that I had inadvertently added version 10.0.0.0 of Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo instead of version 9.0.242.0. The references for Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo, Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum and Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlEnum were all using version 9.0.242.0. After removing version 10.0.0.0 of Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo and replacing it with a reference to version 9.0.242.0 everything worked fine.
For other people also experiencing this issue I would recommend checking the properties of the Microsoft.SqlServer.* references in your project to make sure they all have matching version numbers. -
I am getting below exception while clicking on new query button in SSMS of SQL server 2008 R2 SP2.
I am thinking to reinstall Complete Management Tools. is it worth to give a try on production server? What can be the fix?

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.Hi,
How many SQL Server instances were installed on the server?
Have you tried to connect this instance from another machine using SQL Server Management Studio?
1. Try the solution by Zack1223 in the link below. Delete the shell folder in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\ and check the result.

2. Try to download and install shared management objects to fix this issue. Download here:
