Exception thread in "main" java.lang :NoClassDefError Found:

HI all
i am using jdk1.2 version java . when ever i am programming the programs compiled successfully without any errors, but when execute to run or view the output the errors show likr this "Exception thread in main java.lang:No Class Def errror found ...
i hope i will get solution soon ...
thaks
vasi

I am getting this error right after Java auto updated my machine on 7/30/08. I didn't have any problems before. Now I can't run any java applications. No change made to the config of my machine nor the java codes. I uninstall and reinstall jdk. Same error since yeterday. Any ideas? It is not about the classpath for sure. I am running the app at the directory where the class files are. I was able to run java programs before.
Thanks. Sue

    iam getting this erro message when i want to run the
    java program "Hello World"
    "Exception in thread "main" java.lang. No Class Def Found Error: Env"
    I have set environment variable for classpath and path for the jdk1.3.
    It is getting compiled without any error. When i try to run it it spits this error message:
    Help me......

    The problem could be from several reasons.
    If you're trying to run HelloWorld.java, you're class should defined as
    public class HelloWorld {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("Hello World");
    This program must be in a file called HelloWorld.java
    to compile-- javac HelloWorld.java
    fo run--- java HelloWorld
    1. The class has to be public
    2. you must have a main method.
    3. The file must be named the name of your class(HelloWorld) with a .java extension.
    4. After you compile make sure there is a gile called HelloWorld.class in the directory you're working in

    at Driver.main(Driver.java:38)So meaning this line cause the exception:
    String t=bis[1].trim(); // hard-coded int literal 1That happens because, in line 36,
    String[] bis = bit[j].split(":");What will happen if the delimiter ':' is not found? It will return an array with a size of 1, and at this time referencing index 1 is out of bound, remember that the upper bound of an array is its size-1. One workaround is to put a selection structure after line 36.
    if (bis != null && bis.length == 2) {
        String t=bis[1].trim();
        bits[j]=t;
    }Then, recompile your code and try again.

  • How to solve this problem"exception in thread "main" java.lang.noclassdeff"

    I am a tyro of java programming .
    i downloaded the j2sdk-1_4_2_09-windows-i586-p.exe from www.java.sun.com and installed it at the defaulted path C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09,
    then i wrote down my first java program as follow:
    public class hello
    public static void main (String args[])
    System.out.println("hello,!");
    }and stored it at C:\Javasmp\ch01\hello.java.
    after that i opened dos commind window and compiled it :
    c:\javac C:\Javasmp\ch01\hello.java. and obtained file hello.class (C:\Javasmp\ch01\hello.class)
    but when running it (c:\java C:\Javasmp\ch01\hello) there was a mistake:
    exception in thread "main"java.lang.noclassdeffounderror:C:\Javasmp\ch01\hello
    i searched on the internet and found out the solution is set enviroment viriable ,so i set the "CLASSPATH" as".;C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09\lib;C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09\lib\tools.jar" ,"PATH" as"C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09\bin;C:\Windows\system32;c:\windows\system32\Wbem" and "JAVA_HOME" as "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09\bin;C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09\jre\bin"
    afer that, i opened a new dos command window and run it again ,but the problem was still unsolved.
    in addition,my os is "windows xp"

    The class the error message is referring to is defined with a SWC that my project links to. However, I've even tried to define a class with that same name (and location) within my project and it still fails to find it.
    Why am I able to Project->Clean and run this project within the desktop AIR player (or on the device in debug mode) but unable to export it as a release build?
    I have found a couple of threads mentioning a similar error but none of them have been marked as resolved.

    At this point I feel I am talking to myself, but I will share my work-around in case it helps another who may stumble across this post.
    In my particular case, both my main AIR application and my ANE wrapper library were referencing the same external Flex library (same revision). Both projects had the library linkage set to merge. Changing the linkage to "External" on one of the 2 libraries (it doesn't seem to matter which) and leaving the other as "Merged into code" enabled the export to complete without the bizarre "Unable to find named traits" error.

  • SQLJ error: "Exception in thread main java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sqlj/

    Hi,
    I am new to SQLJ. Now, in my PC (with Win98), I have JDK 1.2 and Oracle 8i (personal edition). I have used Java and Oracle in my PC without any problem. Now, I am going to learn SQLJ in order to create a java program to access Oracle database. What I have done is to set up several classpaths in DOS:
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\translator.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime12.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip;
    The code of my program is:
    import java.sql.Date;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import oracle.sqlj.runtime.Oracle;
    import java.util.Date;
    public class Hello{
         public static void main(String[] args){
              java.sql.Date current_date;
              try{
                   // connect to the db
                   Oracle.connect(
                        "C:\ora_program\bin",
                        "system",
                        "manager");
                   // get the current date from the database
                   #sql{SELECT sysdate INTO :current_date FROM dual};
                   // display message
                   System.out.println("Hello, the current date is: "+ current_date);
              catch(SQLException e){
                   System.err.println("sqlException: "+e);
              finally{
                   try{
                        Oracle.close();
                   catch(SQLException e){
                        System.err.println("sqlException: "+e);
    And then I compile my program in DOS with the typing: sqlj Hello.sqlj
    The program cannot be compiled and the error message is:
    "Exception in thread main java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sqlj/tools/Sqlj"
    It indicates that the SQLJ translator class files cannot be found.
    I have set up the classpath in DOS (see above). How does the error come? Please help. Thanks.
    PC

    >
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\translator.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime12.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip;
    The above only sets the classpath to the last value. You need to use the following.
    SET classpath=%classpath%;C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime.zip;

    Any ideas? My CLASSPATH is set to include /opt/oracle/classes12.jar. My ORACLE_HOME is set to /opt/oracle and LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set to ORACLE_HOME (since that's where all the jars are). How can I troubleshoot this further?
    Thanks, - Dave

    You can verify the settings of the path to your libraries with
    System.out.println(System.getProperty("java.library.path"));before you call System.loadLibrary(), so you know if it is correct.
    I also found this information (for Solaris):
    The shared library file name requires a "lib" prefix and a ".so" extension. Do not include the "lib" prefix or the ".so" extension for the argument that you pass to the System.loadLibrary method.
    I don't know if that helps you solving your problem.

  • Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Helloworld

    Hi Java Experts,
    I am at a lost to how Java searches for all the classes when running a program. Below are the following steps I have taken to try a simple basic HelloWorld.java program on the command prompt on Windows XP (SP2) platform:
    ( i ) Installed both jdk1.5.0_09 and Netbeans IDE 5.0 and working properly.
    ( ii ) The source file is located in F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\src\ch11 and the compiled file is in F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes\ch11 which was compiled in Netbeans.
    ( iii ) No problem compiling & running this program in Netbeans.
    ( iv ) The RUN CLASSPATH in Netbeans is F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes.
    ( v ) No CLASSPATH variable has been set.
    ( vi ) The HelloWorld program looks like this:
    package ch11;
    public class HelloWorld {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("Hello World!");
    ( vi ) Got the message
    "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld"
    when running a combination of the following Java commands:
    ( a ) cd F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes
    ( b ) java HelloWorld, or
    java -cp . HelloWorld or java -cp "." HelloWorld, or
    java -cp F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes HelloWorld or "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes" HelloWorld, or
    java -cp F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes;. HelloWorld or "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";. HelloWorld, or
    java -cp "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";. HelloWorld or "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";"." HelloWorld, or
    java -cp "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";. HelloWorld or "F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes";"." ch11\HelloWorld.
    It is the package location which is a subdirectory of F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes which caused Java not to find this program. I had no problem running it if the HelloWorld.java was moved one level up. ie from F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes\ch11 to F:\Documents and Settings\abc\HeadFirstDesignPattern\build\classes.
    I have written Java in the last year mostly on Netbeans without any problem running them.
    The reason for having to learn to run Java on the command line is so that I could add arguments to the program which I couldn't do in Netbeans just yet.
    I have gone through a lot of the articles from Java forums, Google searches but yet to have found a solution.
    Many thanks,
    Netbeans Fan

    I am getting the same problem when running the same program on a Fedora 4.0 (Redhat Linux 10) system, together with Netbeans 5.5 and JDK1.5.0_09. Again, I have no such problem when running the same program in Netbeans.

    It is not clear what You want to run under Linux. Jar under JVM or native code? If You are going to use JVM make it clear for Yourself which one You are going to use and then make sure it is installed properly.

  • "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:"  JNI in Linux

    Hi,
    I am writing a simple program to understand how JNI works so that I can use this concept to develop a project. But after running the simple code,
    It gives the following error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: sum
    at TestJni.main(testJni.java:25)
    My Java code is:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    class TestJni
    // Try to load the native Code library for user Authentication.
    static
    try
    System.loadLibrary( "test" );
    catch( UnsatisfiedLinkError e )
    System.out.println("Could not load native code for user authentication." );
    System.exit(1);
    public static void main( String [] args )
    //TestJni obj = new TestJni();
    System.out.println(TestJni.sum(2, 3));
    public static native int sum( int x, int y );
    TestJni.h looks like:
    /* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - it is machine generated */
    #include <jni.h>
    /* Header for class TestJni */
    #ifndef IncludedTestJni
    #define IncludedTestJni
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    extern "C" {
    #endif
    * Class: TestJni
    * Method: sum
    * Signature: (II)I
    JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL Java_TestJni_sum
    (JNIEnv *, jclass, jint, jint);
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    #endif
    #endif
    and my C++ code is:
    #include <jni.h>
    #include "TestJni.h"
    #include <stdio.h>
    JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL Java_TestJni_sum(JNIEnv *env, jclass obj, jint x, jint y)
    printf("Inside the native function\n");
    return (x + y);
    Then I am generating my .so file as:
    g++ -o libtest.so sum.cpp -shared -fpic -lcrypt -I//usr/lib/j2se/1.4/include -I/usr/lib/j2se/1.4/include/linux
    and copying the libtest.so file into the folder where I have my TestJni.class file. Then running the java code by:
    java TestJni
    but it gives the "UnsatisfiedLinkError". What to do? :( I have spend 2 days now to solve this problem but I am not getting it.
    I am using ubuntu 7.10 as my OS.
    Please let me know if you can help.

    Thanks for your response. I found that, when I copied the shared library to /usr/lib and
    did: ldconfig -n /usr/lib it worked
    But the problem is, this is my computer, but the computers that I am going to run my actual
    JNI application, have restrictive permission. Could anyone please let me know how I can
    do the work without ldconfig. I mean is there anyway I can configure my .so file's path without
    copying it into the /usr/lib folder and without ldconfig?
    I will appreciate any reply. Thanks.

    The class files are automatically into the build/generated/wsclient/project-name file of my project.
    I copied those class files into my source folder to make my program work.When I searched my system I jus found two of these files in build/generated/wsclient/project-name folder and source folder of my project.
    I am running the program directly through NetBeans IDE.
