Execute .cmd command file on application server

Hi all,
I have written a dosprogram with .cmd trigger that i want to execute via an ABAP statement. Is there a function module that can execute this specific command file on the server?
If so, can someone send an example of such a coding?

The whole idea of SOA is to run web services located anywhere. So I believe if you can expose the runtime in remote servers as services then you will be able to call those services like any other web service.
Or if you requirement is to execute files on the SOA server itself then you can use the java embedding activity.

Hi,
To read a file from an Application Server to an Object there is a command in ABAP called READ DATASET. After that file is transported to that object you have to do a loop and put that data in an Internal Table.
This statement exports data from the file specified in dset into the data object dobj. For dobj, variables with elementary data types and flat structures can be specified. In Unicode programs, dobj must be character-type if the file was opened as a text file.
For dset, a character-type data object is expected - that is, an object that contains the platform-specific name of the file. The content is read from the file starting from the current file pointer. After the data transfer, the file pointer is positioned after the section that was read. Using the MAXIMUM LENGTH addition, the number of characters or bytes to be read from the file can be limited. Using ACTUAL LENGTH, the number of characters or bytes actually used can be determined.
In a Unicode program, the file must be opened with an arbitrary access type; otherwise, an exception that cannot be handled will be triggered.
If the file has not yet been opened in anon-Unicode program, it will be implicitly opened as a binary file for read access using the statement
OPEN DATASET dset FOR INPUT IN BINARY MODE.
. If a non-existing file is accessed, an exception that can be handled can be triggered.
Influence of Access Type
Files can be read independently of the access type. Whether data can be read or not depends solely on the position of the file pointer. If the latter is at the end of the file or after the file, no data can be read and sy-subrc will be set to 4.
Influence of the Storage Type
The import function will take place irrespective of the storage type in which the file was opened with the statement OPEN DATASET.
If the file was opened as a text file or as a legacy text file, the data is normally read from the current position of the file pointer to the next end-of-line marking, and the file pointer is positioned after the end-of-line marking. If the data object dobj is too short for the number of read characters, the superfluous characters and bytes are cut off. If it is longer, it will be filled with blanks to the right.
If the file was opened as a binary file or as a legacy-binary file, as much data is read that fits into the data object dobj. If the data object dobj is longer than the number of exported characters, it is filled with hexadecimal 0 on the right.
If the specified storage type makes conversion necessary, this is executed before the assignment to the data object dobj. Afterwards, the read data is placed, byte by byte, into the data object.

sy-subrc Meaning
0 Data was read without reaching end of file.
4 Data was read and the end of the file was reached or there was an attempt to read after the end of the file.

How to delete files from application server posted in last 30 days

I have some files in application server posted through ABAP program with the below format
\.\.\.abcd_20110209_111209.csv (with date and time). I need to delete those files which was posted in last 30 days through another program. Could you plaese help me to achieve the requirement?

There are many ways you can delete/archive files in application servers.
1. Depending on the application server, usually administrators setup delete/archive programs. For e.g. if the application server is a UNIX, then the unix admin will write a script to delete/move older files. - this is the most common approach I've seen.
If you have to achieve this through ABAP then,
1. You can get the script from the server admin and then use that script to create an external system command through SM69/49 and use the function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE to execute it.
2. You can also look at FM EPS_DELETE_FILE and see if it fits the bill for you.
There are many other possibilities too and each one has its own pros/cons. So you'll have to choose the right one for your requirement.

Rename the file in application server

I want to change the above file name to '\user\sd\file1_old' in Application Server.

What you want to do is execute a command on the host operating system.
This can be done with function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE.
This module will execute commands that have been predefined in SAP. To see what is available look in SM49.
If you have the autorizations you can create your own or ask for it to be created.

If you want to trigger the file transfer from within SAP then you need to execute an external OS command (transaction SM49, SM69).
At the level of the OS (operating system, e.g. Windows, Linux) you need to be able to transfer files to the Lotus server.
Your task is, for example, to write a report executing the external OS command which will be executed at the OS level where the file transfer happens.

here is an alternative to coding an ABAP program - there is a tool called Compare It that I have used. It can compare fairly large files quickly (>10MB) and the latest version has reporting. It runs on a PC so the user running it will need access to the app server in order to run the comparison. You will have to check the website for pricing but I think it is cheap: http://www.grigsoft.com/wincmp.htm

The fastest file compare is definitely at the operating system level. However, you need to have some shell scripting experience to write such a program. Once you have the shell ready, you can execute it inside an ABAP program as an external command (defined in SM69)with 'SXPG_EXECUTE_COMMAND' function.
Another option is using "open dataset in text mode" to load file into an internal table and then comparing it with .

If you are sending an email, the receiver type should be U (internet mail address type). From your code it appears that you have input it as 'A'. I am not sure if the error message is related to this. Have you checked in transaction SOST, whether an email has been triggered from your program? At what point of execution is this error message triggered?

How to delete the Generated files from application server(open hub)?

hi experts,
when i try to execute process chain the DTP it is giving below dump. Exception CX_RSBK_REQUEST_LOCKED logged.
when i execute the DTP manually and trying to delete the previous request, it is giving for dump ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY.
so to delete the generated file from application server, how to delete it for specific dates?

"START_ROUTINE".
The main program was "RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS ".
In the source code you have the termination point in line 2874
of the (Include) program "GPD6S3OE0BCVGC6L9DBNVYQARZM".
The program "GPD6S3OE0BCVGC6L9DBNVYQARZM" was started as a background job.
and when i check the dump it is point out at below code

We have written start routine to get the storage location text and sending to File located at Application server through OPEN HUB.
here is the code written in the Transformations
In the global section

Move file to application server or delete a file from application server

Hi all
I have one application in which if succeful uploading of BMP file from application server is not done , File has to move to another folder like 'ERROR' Folder
but i am unable to do that.

usr/sap/transyp1/prod/in directory
after that i want to read that file from application server to update database

Problem during retriving file from application Server

open DATASET p_fpath for output in text mode encoding UTF-8 WITH SMART LINEFEED.

Urgent : Download file from Application Server via Process Chain.

Hi Experts,
My requirement is to download the file from Application Server to local work station using an ABAP Program .
I want including the above ABAP program in a process chain to execute the program daily,
I tried to use ARCHIVFILE_SERVER_TO_CLIENT and GUI_DOWNLOAD but unfortunately both the above FM doesn't support to run through Process chain.
Can any one of you help me to send the code which selects a file from application server, downloads to local system and deletes it.

Regarding your case ..
I suggest you to create the program where it run this function: WS_DOWNLOAD.
After it, the program is run by your process chain.
