Execute Multiple Queries on Screen Load: ADF Swings

how can i execute multiple queries and populate each query value to corresponding combo box .assume i what to execute 5 different query and populate it into 5 different combo box.
Prakash

Hi,
if you work with ADF then all iterators are accessible through the panelBinding object
DCIteratorBinding dciter = (DCIteratorBinding) panelBinding.get("Iterator Name");
dciter.execute();
If you need to add query parameters like bind parameters then a call to the execute with params method (if available in the binding) could be perfomed as an OperationBinding
OperatioNBinding oper= (OperatioNBinding ) panelBinding.get("ExecuteWithParams");
oper.getParamMap().put("bind variable name", <value>);
oper.execute();

  • How to execute multiple queries in one stored procedure.

    Hi,
    I am Kumar,
    How to execute multiple queries in one stored procedure.
    here is the my requirements,
    1. get the max value from one table and sum of the that value.
    2. insert the values and also sum of the max value.
    using stored procedure
    I am using SQL server 2000 database.
    Please help me.
    Advance thanks
    by,
    Kumar

    This is not a java question and it is not even a problem: your only problem is
    1) lack of knowledge
    2) lack of interest to find a manual
    But you are going to have to change both by actually reading a book or a manual that explains the stored procedure language of SQL Server. It is the same as Sybase I think, so you could also look for a manual for that DBMS.

  • SQL Developer cannot execute multiple queries in one connection

    Hi,
    Using : SQL Developer 1.2.29.98, Oracle Database 9i on Windows XP.
    Currently I have TOAD and PL/SQL Developer to handle things related to Oracle Database.
    I found this SQL Developer tools as an interesting tool which might replace PL/SQL Developer (I assume).
    I opened two SQL Worksheets and tried to execute 2 queries (time consuming one) simultanously, suddenly it freezes (the window become grayed). Just like TOAD, we cannot smoothly execute multiple queries on single connection on SQL Developer
    I can monitor the query process using TOAD (Session Browser) and found both queries are running while SQL Developer window become grayed and seems not functioning. After the queries have been finished, I mean both of them, the SQL Developer window become normal and "alive" again showing the expected results.
    Well, however PL/SQL Developer could handle this. Executing multiple queries in single application is just its unbeatable features.
    We can view the query result once its finished instead of until the others being processed, by just only switch the SQL Windows.
    Is it true that SQL Developer doesn't support executing multiple queries?
    Or is it a feature which we should request?
    Or we have to activate this feature by doing some changes on configuration / preferences?
    (Do we need to open two SQL Developer instances? what a memory consuming solution).
    Regards,
    Buntoro

    SQLDeveloper connections are single threaded and also rather single minded (in that you can't do much else while a long query is running.)
    There is an existing feature request http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:3685254426061901::NO::P39_ID:4202 for which you can vote.
    The workaround is to have multiple connections. Not brilliant but it works.

  • Delete multiple rows in a JTable ADF Swing.

    hi guys,
    Would anyone know tell me how do I delete multiple rows in a JTable ADF Swing?
    JDeveloper.

    Hi,
    I would configure the table for multi row selection. Then get the selected row index, access the iterator in the PageDef file (through the panelBinding reference you have in ADF Swing) and then iterate over the selected row indexes, make an index to become the current row and call remove() on it

    NULL INSERT INTO [dbo].[TableF] SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET ('Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0'…
    I wrote 4 queries to execute the scripts for table A to D as following:
    DECLARE @A varchar(500)
    SET @A = (SELECT Script FROM TABLE WHERE [Table] = 'TABLE A')
    EXECUTE (@A)
    DECLARE @B varchar(500)
    SET @B = (SELECT Script FROM TABLE WHERE [Table] = 'TABLE B')

    DECLARE @C varchar(500)

    EXECUTE (@C)
    DECLARE @D varchar(500)
    SET @D = (SELECT Script FROM TABLE WHERE [Table] = 'TABLE D')
    EXECUTE (@D)
    Now I also wish to execute the script from Table E, but only for the Month of May so I decided to write this query
    DECLARE @E varchar(500)
    SET @E = (SELECT Script FROM TABLE WHERE [Table] = 'TABLE E' AND [Date] BETWEEN '2013-05-01' AND '2013-05-31)
    EXECUTE (@E)
    I guess this query can't execute because my statement selects more than one script. Now I have data going back to two years and I don't want to write close to 700 statements. Is there a way around it?
    Thank you very much in advance!
    Cheers

    I guess this query can't execute because my statement selects more than one script. Now I have data going back to two years and I don't want to write close to 700 statements. Is there a way around it?
    what do you mean by "my statement select more that one script" ?
    why do you want to exec all select statement separately ?
    you can combine select statement with UNION ALL,
    and do you want to specify the date range dynamically , first you specified may and two year is there related to data
    Well, if ever i would write
    SELECT Script FROM TABLE WHERE [Table] = 'TABLE E' AND [Date] BETWEEN '2013-05-01' AND '2013-05-31'
    I would get this as an answer
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[TableE] SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET ('Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0'… Script for 5/28/2013
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[TableE] SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET ('Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0'… Script for 5/29/2013
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[TableE] SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET ('Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0'… Script for 5/30/2013
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[TableE] SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET ('Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0'… Script for 5/31/2013
    Now I want to dynamicaly be able to execute multiple scripts based on a where function. I could also write something saying
    WHERE [Table] = 'TABLE E' AND [Date] BETWEEN '2010-01-01' AND GETDATE()
    In any case, I would need it to first execute script for 5/28/2013, then script for 5/29/2013, etc..
    Thank you in advance,
    Cheers

  • Multiple queries with 1 connection

    Can I execute multiple queries with one connection?
    //Example -
    <%
    String firstconn;
    Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver");
    // create connection string
    firstconn = "jdbc:mysql://localhost/profile?user=mark&password=mstringham";
    // pass database parameters to JDBC driver
    Connection aConn = DriverManager.getConnection(firstconn);
    // query statement
    Statement firstSQLStatement = aConn.createStatement();
    String firstquery = "UPDATE auth_users SET last_log='" + rightnow + "'WHERE name='" + username + "' ";
    // get result code
    int firstSQLStatus = firstSQLStatement.executeUpdate(firstquery);
    // close connection
    firstSQLStatement.close();
    %>
    Now, instead of building a new connection for each query, can I use the same connection info for another query?
    if so - how do you do this?
    thanks for any help.
    Mark

    Create multiple statement objects from your connection. It's a good idea to close these in a finally block after you're done with them
    Connection conn = null;
    Statement stmt1 = null;
    Statement stmt2 = null;
    try {
        conn = DriverManager.getConnection();
        stmt1 = conn.createStatement();
        // some sql here
        stmt2 = conn.createStatement();
        // some more sql here
    } finally {
        if ( stmt1 != null ) stmt1.close();
        if ( stmt2 != null ) stmt2.close();

  • Multiple Queries in Workbook - Refresh Screen Shows Up for Every Query

    We have multiple queries in a workbook.  All of these queries have the exact same selections for the variable selection screen.  When all the queries are refreshed once, the selection screen used to show up once and all the queries are refreshed with the same selections.
    We were on BI 7.0 and SP10.  We recently moved to SP12.  Since the SP12 installation, the multiple query refresh pops-up the selection screen for every query.  It is nothing like "multiple query refresh" at once since the user has to click "execute" button for every single query.  It is interesting to note that the selection screen only contains hierarchy variables and hierarchy node variables.  The other variables of selection screen do not show up.  I couldn't find any OSS note on this topic.  Please let me know if anyone has any comments on this issue.  I will assign points to useful posts.

  • ADF how to display a processing page when executing large queries

    ADF how to display a processing page when executing large queries
    The ADF application that I have written currently has the following structure:
    DataPage (search.jsp) that contains a form that the user enters their search criteria --> forward action (doSearch) --> DataAction (validate) that validates the inputted values --> forward action (success) --> DataAction (performSearch) that has a refresh method dragged on it, and an action that manually sets the itterator for the collection to -1 --> forward action (success) --> DataPage (results.jsp) that displays the results of the then (hopefully) populated collection.
    I am not using a database, I am using a java collection to hold the data and the refresh method executes a query against an Autonomy Server that retrieves results in XML format.
    The problem that I am experiencing is that sometimes a user may submit a query that is very large and this creates problems because the browser times out whilst waiting for results to be displayed, and as a result a JBO-29000 null pointer error is displayed.
    I have previously got round this using Java Servlets where by when a processing servlet is called, it automatically redirects the browser to a processing page with an animation on it so that the user knows something is being processed. The processing page then recalls the servlet every 3seconds to see if the processing has been completed and if it has the forward to the appropriate results page.
    Unfortunately I can not stop users entering large queries as the system requires users to be able to search in excess of 5 million documents on a regular basis.
    I'd appreciate any help/suggestions that you may have regarding this matter as soon as possible so I can make the necessary amendments to the application prior to its pilot in a few weeks time.

    Hi Steve,
    After a few attempts - yes I have a hit a few snags.
    I'll send you a copy of the example application that I am working on but this is what I have done so far.
    I've taken a standard application that populates a simple java collection (not database driven) with the following structure:
    DataPage --> DataAction (refresh Collection) -->DataPage
    I have then added this code to the (refreshCollectionAction) DataAction
    protected void invokeCustomMethod(DataActionContext ctx)
    super.invokeCustomMethod(ctx);
    HttpSession session = ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getSession();
    Thread nominalSearch = (Thread)session.getAttribute("nominalSearch") ;
    if (nominalSearch == null)
    synchronized(this)
    //create new instance of the thread
    nominalSearch = new ns(ctx);
    } //end of sychronized wrapper
    session.setAttribute("nominalSearch", nominalSearch);
    session.setAttribute("action", "nominalSearch");
    nominalSearch.start();
    System.err.println("started thread calling loading page");
    ctx.setActionForward("loading.jsp");
    else
    if (nominalSearch.isAlive())
    System.err.println("trying to call loading page");
    ctx.setActionForward("loading.jsp");
    else
    System.err.println("trying to call results page");
    ctx.setActionForward("success");
    Created another class called ns.java:
    package view;
    import oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionContext;
    import oracle.adf.model.binding.DCIteratorBinding;
    import oracle.adf.model.generic.DCRowSetIteratorImpl;
    public class ns extends Thread
    private DataActionContext ctx;
    public ns(DataActionContext ctx)
    this.ctx = ctx;
    public void run()
    System.err.println("START");
    DCIteratorBinding b = ctx.getBindingContainer().findIteratorBinding("currentNominalCollectionIterator");
    ((DCRowSetIteratorImpl)b.getRowSetIterator()).rebuildIteratorUpto(-1);
    //b.executeQuery();
    System.err.println("END");
    and added a loading.jsp page that calls a new dataAction called processing every second. The processing dataAction has the following code within it:
    package view;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpSession;
    import oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataForwardAction;
    import oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionContext;
    public class ProcessingAction extends DataForwardAction
    protected void invokeCustomMethod(DataActionContext actionContext)
    // TODO: Override this oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataAction method
    super.invokeCustomMethod(actionContext);
    HttpSession session = actionContext.getHttpServletRequest().getSession();
    String action = (String)session.getAttribute("action");
    if (action.equalsIgnoreCase("nominalSearch"))
    actionContext.setActionForward("refreshCollection.do");
    I'd appreciate any help or guidance that you may have on this as I really need to implement a generic loading page that can be called by a number of actions within my application as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance for your help
    David.

  • Help required building ADF-Swing/ADF-Faces using ADF Business Components

    My question is in regards to how you can go about building a light swing application to an ADF model?
    In particular if I were to say that we were developing a 3-tier project whereby we had a database tier, a series of EJB-ADF façade session beans to the database (middle-tier), and a swing client communicating with the session beans (view-controller tier), how would you go about developing these screens?
    In particular can we develop these screens using ADF-Faces and also ADF-Swing?
    The EJB session façade beans of course are ADF app modules with customised methods. The methods would return back customised DTO objects. These DTO objects are wrappers to row objects ADF would create. This would be mainly due to making these facade beans web service enabled (Oracle state that these methods cannot return oracle.jbo objects if they are to be web service enabled).
    This would be typically deployed to an app server, like Oracle App Server 10G.
    Could you please have a look at this, as I am doing a lot of research into this.
    eg. Taking example from oracle magazine sept/oct 2006
    with slight enhancements
    package oramag.frameworks.example.common;
    import oracle.jbo.ApplicationModule;
    import oramag.frameworks.customdto.EmployeeDTO;
    public interface HRService extends ApplicationModule {
    void deleteCurrentEmpAndCommit();
    EmployeeDTO findEmployee(int employeeId); // new method
    import oramag.frameworks.customdto.EmployeeDTO;
    public class HRServiceImpl extends ApplicationModuleImpl {
    public void deleteCurrentEmpAndCommit() {
    Row empRow = getEmpView().getCurrentRow();
    if (empRow != null) {
    empRow.remove();
    getDBTransaction().commit();
    public EmployeeDTO findEmployee(int employeeId)() {
    EmployeeDTO employeeDTO = null;
    EmployeesImpl employees = getEmployees();
    employees.setNamedWhereClauseParam("EmployeeId", employeeId);
    employees.executeQuery();
    if(employees.hasNext()) {
    EmployeesRowImpl employee = (EmployeesRowImpl)employees.next();
    employeeDTO = new EmployeeDTO(employee);
    return employeeDTO;
    public EmployeesImpl getEmployees() {
    return (EmployeesImpl)findViewObject("Employees");
    Now given the above code snippet, how could you turn this into an ADF-Swing/ADF Faces application so that if a user using the swing application enters an employee id, then the application will execute the query on the app server, the app server in turn returns the results to the client, and the client finally display the results. Typical MVC example.
    Cheers
    Rodney

    The tutorial is for ADF BC used with JavaServer Faces.
    While the tutorial doesn't cover it, we also support drag and drop development for Swing and visual WYSIWYG layout for Swing panels and windows, too. For a very simple example, watch screencast #4 on my blog here:
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2005/06/24/jdeveloperAdfScreencasts.html
    One thing I have noticed is that when using ADF business components, when the app module returns a custom DTO object like the above example, it returns the data in a element structure according to the data control palette.
    You don't generally ever need to create your own custom DTO's when working with ADF for use by client UI's. The only situation where can be necessary -- until we simplify this in the JDeveloper/ADF 11g release -- is when you desire to expose custom methods that can return sets/arrays of typed row structures through a web service. However, web services are not involved/required in building 3-tier Swing applications.
    When dropping onto a page it does so like a string and doesnt give option to display the data in a read only form etc. Is there anything we need to do, to get the functionality.
    It's more of what you don't need to do :-)
    Just leverage the active data model that the ADF application module provides. You can read more about it in section 4.5 "Understanding the Active Data Model" of the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers on the ADF Learning Center at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html). Your UI's bind to view object instances in the data model, and your UI's are automatically kept up to date without needing to write methods that return data. I short article I wrote that preceeded my writing the ADF Developer Guide content on this topis is here:
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2006/01/26/theAdfBusinessComponentsActiveDataModel.html
    I know that when dropping a view object you get this functionality. Also was wondering if we were to pass an object of thios type back to the model it might not give us the rich functionality like input forms, like what Oracle provides if we were to drop a enitity view object.
    Just use the active data model and everything becomes totally easy, with no changes required to switch between local or three-tier deployment configurations.
    Trying to do everything with hand-coded DTO beans is really going the hard way.
    Could you help us regarding this?

  • JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 ADF Swing - Images not rendering after deployment

    Hi,
    I have deployed my ADF Swing application in production in very simple 2 tiers architecture.
    One executal jar on my desktop and
    The database running on a Linux server.
    When I run MyApp.jar from my desktop, none of my images is rendered and LOV buttons do NOT work.
    The same application runs against the same dabase from Jedev environment shows images and LOVs work fine.
    Thank for your your help.

    I suppose that you use Java WebStart to deploy your application.
    The issue might be that you're using absolute path to load images into the application (c:\something\something.jpg). When you start your app in webstart, it doesn't allow the application the acces to the disk using absolute path. Even if it did, you wouldn't find your images in the same folder as they are on your disk.
    You should load images like this:
    ImageIcon icon=new ImageIcon(this.getClass().getResource("images/something.jpg"));
    This presumes that you store all your images in "images" package (folder).

  • Inserting Multiple queries into a workbook

    Hi Friends,
    I have to insert multiple queries into a workbook and each query should be in a different worksheet of the work book.
    I have gone thru some of the SAP documentation, for example http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3a/89883989676778e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
    In above link under the fatures section it says
    If you want to insert a query into the active workbook:
    Open a workbook and, from the BEx toolbar, choose Tools ® Insert Query.... The query is then inserted into the current worksheet starting at the active cell
    But when i chech in the tools under desig tools, i have lot of options like insert grid,insert checbox, radio button extc, but i dont have "Insert query".
    I am using BI7 Bex analyazer, The Only way i am able to insert a new query into a work sheet using BI7 is that first i have to design the work sheet but including design elemenst in my case i am using Grid. But this is not giving the correct display.
    Did anyone insert multiple queries in the same workbook? if you can you please let me know how did u acheive this?.
    Thanks in adv.
    Regards
    BN

    Hi Rajesh,
    Thanks for your response, but in BI7 Bex analyser you dont have the option of insert query from tools.
    Rather what i did is (maynot be the correct way), i have executed the query and saved it as work book and in the tools there is an option "copy Sheet". If you select this the same layout is copied to the 2nd sheet, there just change the assignment of design items to a new Dataprovider. Attach the new query to the new Dataprovider.
    It works for me, as of now
    But i have  questions regarding selection screen.
    1. In this work book i am embbeding 6 queries and each query individually has variables. When i execute the workbook i get the selection screen, in the selection screen all the common variables are shown in one grouping and other in a different grouping. Is this correct way of selection screen display?.
    2. I want to see the variable screen every time i open the work book, how can i acheive this?.

  • ADF Swing - Moving bound components to another panel (actually JFrame)

    We have an old(er) application developed on ADF Swing connecting to an Oracle Lite database using jdev 10.1.3.5. Everything works fine, but we want to reduce some screen clutter and move some fields off the main panel to be revealed in a separate "window" if the user presses a button. I created a JFrame (obviously not with the jdev designer as it doesn't seem to know what a JFrame is) and a JPanel where I move the "Address" fields (some fields that are only occasionally used). I drop the JPanel into the JFrame, make sure all of the code is in the jbInit section, add a button to do the setVisible and voila! As I scroll through the records in the main screen after a Find Execute, the address information changes along with it. However, if I try to enter Find mode and use one of the Address fields (like City), these fields do NOT become part of the find conditions. And yes, they are query-able in the BC4J component and yes, it did work when they were all on one pane.
    I suspect its the fact that the components don't identify themselves as being part of the panel that is bound to the iterator. So, how SHOULD I have done this so that I can use these fields in a Find AND in the results?

    Hi,
    try
    jTable1.setModel((TableModel)panelBinding.bindUIControl("JobHistoryView1",jTable1));
    jTable1.setColumnSelectionAllowed(true);
    jTable1.setRowSelectionAllowed(true);
    jTable1.getColumnModel().addColumnModelListener(new TableColumnModelListener(){
    public void columnAdded(TableColumnModelEvent e) {}
    public void columnRemoved(TableColumnModelEvent e){}
    public void columnMoved(TableColumnModelEvent e) {}
    public void columnMarginChanged(ChangeEvent e) {}
    public void columnSelectionChanged(ListSelectionEvent e) {
    boolean editMode = jTable1.editCellAt(jTable1.getSelectedRow(),jTable1.getSelectedColumn());
    if (editMode){
    jTable1.changeSelection(jTable1.getSelectedRow(),jTable1.getSelectedColumn(), false, true);
    Note that this works not 100% on row change, so make sure the select boxes are not on the first column

  • Multiple Queries with JDBC

    Hello. I'm somewhat new to all of this, so forgive me if this is something really basic.
    I'm developing an application which must interact with my MySQL database pretty frequently, however it seems to me that I am unable to, essentially, have multiple ResultSets open at a given time, which as a result prevents me from making multiple queries simultaneously. The essential problem is...
    ResultSet rs = statement.execute( "SELECT * FROM table");
    if (rs.next())
        ResultSet srs = statement.execute( "SELECT * FROM table2");
        rs.getInt("id");
    }...Yields a NullPointerException on line 5. If I am correct in my understanding, this is due to a ResultSet closing when it's statement is used a second time.
    My best guess to solving this problem is to create a pool of statement objects (which would essentially be a number of connections to the DB), and then use the first open statement object (or a newly created one) to run a particular query... however this seems rather sloppy. Not to mention that, offhand, I'm not even sure if I can have multiple connections open to the DB at the same time. Is there any better way to run multiple queries at the same time with JDBC?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    That's actually what I thought at first as well... given that a NPE is generally thrown along the lines of null.getMethod() however there is no null anywhere in my code, only a closed ResultSet... which returns an NPE on using a get method. For example:
    //our import
    import java.util.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import javax.swing.JComponent.*;
    public class Server
            public static void main( String args[] ) throws Exception
                    try
                            //register driver
                            Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
                            //location of database (including string to register unicode as utf-8
                            String dbUrl = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:1111/db_name?requireSSL=false&useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=UTF-8";
                            //create connection object
                            Connection mysqlConnection = DriverManager.getConnection(dbUrl,"username","password");
                            //autocommit
                            mysqlConnection.setAutoCommit(true);
                            //log information
                            System.out.println("Connected. Connection=" + mysqlConnection);
                            Statement mysqlStatement = mysqlConnection.createStatement();
                            mysqlStatement.execute("SELECT * FROM mud_index_players");
                            ResultSet rs = mysqlStatement.getResultSet();
                            if (rs.next())
                                    System.out.prinlnt("getInt() is " + rs.getInt("id"));
                                    mysqlStatement.execute("SELECT * FROM mud_table_stats");
                                    ResultSet rs2 = mysqlStatement.getResultSet();
                                    System.out.println("Now it's " + rs.getInt("id"));
                    catch ( ClassNotFoundException cnfe )
                            cnfe.printStackTrace();
                    catch ( Exception e )
                            e.printStackTrace();
    }Yields:
    Connected. Connection=com.mysql.jdbc.Connection@329f3d
    getInt() is 1

  • Report with Multiple queries too slow in BI Publisher 11g

    Hi, I have a report in 11g where i need to create multiple queries to show them in report. I tried to combine everything in one query, but i found that the query is too huge and hard to understand and maintain. I created 3 data sets and linked them together. In SQL dev, the main query is returning about 315 records and first detail query returns less than 100 records and second detail query is returning one record which is BLOB. Each query returns data within a couple of seconds from SQL Developer. The entire report from BI Publisher should be just 21 page PDF output. Did anyone face performance issues while running reports with multiple queries in 11g? I ran reports that have single query which returned 10K pages PDF and never had an issue while everthing is in one query. This is the first time Iam attempting to create multiple queries. Can someone help me understand what i might be doing wrong or missing here. Thank you.

    Isn't there a way for you to do this via a Package/Procedure versus having multiple queries?
    Per the BI Publisher guide,
    Following are recommended guidelines for building data models:
    Reduce the number of data sets or queries in your data model as much as possible. In general, the fewer data sets and queries you have, the faster your data model will run. While multiquery data models are often easier to understand, single-query data models tend to execute more quickly. It is important to understand that in parent-child queries, for every parent, the child query is executed.
    You should only use multiquery data models in the following scenarios:
    To perform functions that the query type, such as a SQL query, does not support directly.
    To support complex views (for example, distributed queries or GROUP BY queries).
    To simulate a view when you do not have or want to use a view.
    Thanks,
