Expdb using Unix pipe command for max compression

I think the answer to this is NO, but I thought I'd ask the questions anyway, in case some of the Oracle geniuses on this site have figured out a way around this.
We have been using the existing exp/imp commands for years, due to the fact that we can pipe the output through a pre-setup file that will compress the data as it is written. Since we have moved onto the 10g and now the v11 software, we are starting to what to utilize the parallelism that is afforded in expdp, but don't want to deal with the space required for non-fully compressed exports that occurs with expdp.
So the question is, has anyone figured out a way to use expdp and using 'on the fly' compression like you could do with the old exp utility on Unix boxes??
Any help would be appreciated....

Unfortunately, no--it has to do with the parallel nature of the file ops that prevents compression through a pipe. However, if you buy the Compression option in 11--you can compress on the fly.
See this white paper.

    How do I turn off the alt scroll zoom?
    When I'm in Adobe photoshop and illustrator using the pen tool, alt is utilized for another short cut.  I would like to use the alt command for the pen tool instead of zooming into the screen.

    I tend to select things from left to right and every time I am moving in a downward right diagonal motion during lasso selection I am missing a clear view and I am tending to have a more sloppy selection.  All this does is slow me down since I need to go back and hit those areas again.  The big arrowhead just get's in the way.  The original lasso tool with the thin line and small active point at it's lower left was far better for me.
    I don't like turning the cursors to precise because I like to see the active tool icon where my cursor is and as the icon changes as I hold modifier keys down.  If I am forced to get comfortable with using pricise cursors I guess I will, but man, I've never had to do this in my 15 years of photoshop use...
    I would absolutely LOVE to find a way to get the old lasso icon -- without the arrowhead above it.
    Is there any chance this option could be inlcuded in cursor preferences?  I'd give much thanks, Adobe.

  • VIs for using UNIX pipes?

    We're going to start working on an application that will eventually run on
    a UNIX machine, but in the meantime we'll develop on NT, which is what we're
    familiar with. One requirement is to communicate with another process through
    a UNIX pipe. Are there VIs built into the UNIX versions of LabVIEW for this?
    Or do we just use file I/O VIs? Or is there some other way to accomplish
    this?
    If there are VIs built in, where is the documentation? I checked the LabVIEW
    manuals, but I didn't find anything.

    Yes there are VIs for named pipes in UNIX, Open, Close, Read, and Write
    They are under the communication palette. Check the online manual in the comm
    section.

  • Accessing tape device from Terminal program using UNIX tar command

    I am trying to create some tape backups of very large files (.dmg images) using the UNIX tar command.
    I have a 72GB HP 4mm DAT USB drive, which shows up in the system profiler as:
    DAT72 USB Tape:
    Version: 30.30
    Bus Power (mA): 500
    Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Hewlett Packard
    Product ID: 0x0125
    Serial Number: 4855310528334645
    Vendor ID: 0x03f0
    But I do not see the device in the /dev/ directory (see below).
    Is there a way I can determine the UNIX device name?
    Or must I locate and load a driver for this DAT drive?
    Thank you

    I downloaded the BRU LE 30 day evaluation, and my first impression is favorable. I still need to perform a bit of testing. The HP drive I have does 36 GB per tape (72 at 50% hardware compression). My first attempt was to back up a single 22 GB .dmg file. Even with no compression it should have fit on one DAT tape, but after backing up 90% of the 22 GB it asked for a second tape. I still have to do more testing, but I very much appreciate the point in the very promising direction.
    I will reply again to this thread with my results.

  • How can I use custom WLST commands for Oracle SOA Suite in Weblogic

    Hi There,
    I'm trying to view and search the weblogic log files using WLST on a Solaris/Unix system.
    I have come across this "custom WLST commands for Oracle SOA Suite" and thought of using the custom logging commands to get my task done.
    However, my WLST shell is not recognizing the commands and giving me the NameError!
    wls:/devDomain1/domainRuntime> listLogs()
    Traceback (innermost last):
    File "<console>", line 1, in ?
    NameError: listLogs
    I tried the commands listLogs, displayLogs, getLogLevel & setLogLevel but in vain!
    I have followed the instructions as per the oracle recommendation of using Custom WLST commands (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29597_01/core.1111/e10105/getstart.htm#ASADM10692) as below
    - Launched the WLST shell from Oracle Home.
    cd ORACLE_HOME/common/bin
    ./wlst.sh
    - Tried to run the listLogs command from domainRuntime()
    I would like to know if I need to import any additional libraries to run the custom WLST commands for Oracle SOA Suite in my WLST shell?
    I have only weblogic 10.3.1 server installed on my Solaris 10 machine on which I have deployed the OSB application software.
    There is no SOA Suite installed.
    Or is there any other way I can browse the Server Log file and get the list of log messages? Basically I would like to use this feature in my script to customize it according to my requirement of listing specific error logs which I can work it out if I know how to make these commands work.
    Please advise if this is possible and how?
    Cheers.
    Satish

    I have tried on my OSB installation (no SOA Suite here), the command listLogs() works (I was in online mode, after a connect), and the classpath is:

  • Using unix 'diff' command to publish iweb to non .mac server

    It is a common problem that you can't upload incremental changes to a website a web server that is not a .mac. Recently I found that the unix (shell) 'diff -qr' works nicely for this.
    However I can't seem to get this to work in automator. That is where I need some help.
    What I did :
    I have an iweb website in my directory
    Documents/website
    I made a second directory where I store my uploaded version of the website:
    Documents/websiteonserver
    Using a shell script I want to compare the differences between these two directories using the diff command in a shell script. When I run 'diff -qr websiteonserver website' in a terminal window, it gives a nice overview of which files are changed and which ones are new. When workin with iWeb this saves me a lot of time uploading my homepage to a non .mac server. I can only upload the changed files, which is usually only a few. Diff does not look at timestamps (which are useless in the iweb case) but it actually looks into a file and with the -q option it stops when it finds a difference. With the -r added (-qr) it also looks through all subdirectories and compares files with the same name.
    I like to automate this process so that my wife can update our family homepage with just one mouseclick (or as few as possible)
    Unfortunately the diff command in automator gives an error, and there's no info on why it does this.
    The commands I gave:
    cd Documents
    diff -qr websiteonserver website
    (using PWD i verified that the path is correct like this). The only stumbling block for automator seems to be the diff command. Anybody any suggestions on this?
    The next challenge is to take the diff output and use that to upload only changed/new files to a ftp server.
    Any help / ideas are welcome
    Greetings,
    Adriaan

    Dear Cyclosaurus,
    I used a single command as us specified. It really helped to add the path to the directories I wanted to compare. So now at least I got it two work partly:
    It seems to work only if I compare two files. Comparing directories still does not work. Maybe diff generates some kind of error code when doing this??? It does not do that in the shell.
    If I compare all files in directories + subdirectories , the workflow does not work. It seems as if it only accepts a single output line or so from the diff function. If there is more output (or maybe some newline character) the workflow halts. Very peculiar.
    mmm.... I will try to make a shell script which I can run in automator. In the script file I will then generate a txt file. Then the automator can run the script and then it can open the resulting file in a text editor. See if that works.
    mmm nope. I made a script like this:
    #!/bin/bash
    diff -qr ~/Documents/websiteon_theserver/ ~/Documents/website/ > ~/Documents/logfile.txt
    I modified the atributes to executable and I could run it from the command line. The logfile.txt was created and has the correct info. I could not run it from automator...
    I did copy the last line from the script into automator. And also there it does create the logfile, but the automator still says there was an error and stops.
    maybe I should try Applescript, were it not that I am totally clueless on that language...

    I don't look for magician..
    I know that there is terminal command for change setting about song backup count...
    since Logic 8 the Project Backup has been fixed to 10...
    I mentioned defaults in my first post. 'defaults' is the command line utility to set the maximum number of backups, and the key/value is clearly visible in the file, where I see no clearly identified key for the preference setting you seek.
    so you can type 'man defaults' into terminal to read the manual for defaults.
    Also in Logic 6 32bit application... and in Logic 7.2.3 (32bit application)
    there is a setting that allow me to addressing 384Mb to the system core audio... and it is not a 64 bit apps.
    Memory addressing != Memory allocating
    I'm looking for a Terminal command that can rewrite Logic preferences files... in the same way as made for change the Song Backups number...
    Please stay focused I don't need theoretical explaination..
    I'm a Musician... I'm not a Developer...
    BUT I Know.. for sure...I can adress 384Mb for core audio...
    I need to bypass the automatic ram adressing only and strictly focused to achieve 384MB just for CORE AUDIO!!!
    Right right right. I addressed that by typing:
    you'd have insider info to use that utility for the intentions that you have in mind
    If that preference exists, it is not public knowledge (to my knowledge). You would need to know a few things about the preference key/value to set or remove it.
    So, yeah - my original post covered it all, to the best of my knowledge.

  • How to use GPShells open_sc command for a SC02 option 15 Card (J2A, J3A)?

    Hi,
    my cards tell me as response to get-data 0066 command, that they are using SC02 option 15:
    Global Platform version : 2.1.1
    Global Platform Secure Channel Protocol: 02 option 15
    What are the right parameters for GPShells open_sc command?
    h3. GPShell help says:
    open_sc -keyind x -keyver x -key xyz -mac_key xyz -enc_key xyz -kek_key xyz -security x -scp x -scpimpl x -keyDerivation x
    For OpenPlatform 2.0.1' card only -keyind, -keyver, -mac_key and -enc_key are necessary.
    For GlobalPlatform 2.1.1 cards -scp and -scpimpl should be not necessary to supply. But you must also specify -kek_key. If your card supports a Secure Channel Protocol Implementation with only one base key, specify this key with -key and omit the other keys.
    If you have a card which uses key derivation you must enable the derivation mode with the -keyDerivation option and you must specify with -key the master (mother) key. -kek_key, -mac_key and -enc_key are not relevant, because they are calculated from the master key. See the sections #Options and #Key Derivation.
    h3. GP-2.1.1-Spec says for SC Protocol 02 with option 15:
    Initiation mode explicit, C-MAC on modified APDU, ICV set to zero, ICV encryption for CMAC session, 3 Secure Channel Keys,
    h3. So, What are the right parameters for GPShells open_sc command?
    Assumtions:
    1. As my cards support GP 2.1.1 I sould not need to supply -scp and -scpimpl (acc. to GPShell help)
    2. SCP 02 option 15 has three Secure Channel Keys (acc. to GP2.1.1. Spec) and does not support SCPImpl with only one base key (as mentioned in GPShell help).
    Questions:
    1. Are the 3 Secure Channel Keys mentioned in the Spec the keys -mac_key -enc_key -kek_key mentioned in GPShell help?
    2. Where can I look for the correct values of -keyind and -keyver?
    3. How can I check wether my card uses key derivation?
    4. Can I freely choose the -security parameter from [ 0: clear, 1: MAC, 3: MAC+ENC ]
    or is this determined by the SCP 02 option 15 to 1: MAC?
    5. GPShells listgp211.txt uses
    open_sc -security 1 -keyind 0 -keyver 0 -mac_key 404142434445464748494a4b4c4d4e4f -enc_key 404142434445464748494a4b4c4d4e4f // Open secure channel
    But that does not work for me (in fact: how can one open_sc command match for all GP Cards, if they use different
    SCP 02 but with different options (as it is 15 in my case?)
    It is no prob for me to dig into the specs, but I feel like there are some points not too clear there,
    so I need experience too: trial and error.
    That would be fine for me but locking all these cards does not feel so well, I'd be glad to perform some successful auth
    to reset that damn counter ;)
    Cheers,
    Max

    I managed to connect sucessfully to J2A-Card:
    Main insight is that you have to specify 3 keys (can be the same key three times)
    open_sc -security 1 -keyind 0 -keyver 0 -mac_key x -enc_key x -kek_key xh1. GPShell Trace:

  • Using unix host command within plsql on aix

    On an aix platform Im trying to host out of a plsql procedure to
    use mail. I can only get the host command to work inside a blank
    .sql file. ie. first line must have the host command on it. If
    you try to imbed the host command within a procedure, the file

  • Using voice activation commands for Illustrator

    I was searching this forum to see if you can scroll (zoom) with the mouse wheel. I found a couple of short cuts that accomplishes the task (but not as easy as PS CS3 does).
    In PS CS3, I created a whole bunch of Dragon Naturally Speaking commands which, in effect, allowed me to speak the various PS commands (as opposed to clicking, dragging etc) with eh mouse and Wacom Pen.
    WITHOUT A DOUBT, this is the way to fly in PS. Speaking commands and having the program perform the function allows you to concentrate on the creation as opposed to what tool and when etc.
    Just being able (using the scrolling wheel example), to say "zoom" or "zoom out" instead of looking for the zoom icon clicking it and then clicking the work area helps tremendously.
    So, while looking for a way to Scroll in Illustrator, I got to thinking I will do the same thing for this application.
    Therefore, I was wondering if anyone had done the same thing here in Illustrator.
    I also posted this in the Windows forum.
    Anyway, just wondering.
    Bob

    Hi Jean,
    first, I had to let you know, and I am by no means connected in any form shape or manner with Dragon Naturally Speaking software.
    Second, I am actually dictating this message to you utilizing this voice activation software. I have been utilizing the Dragon for many years and this particular version happens to be one of the best that they have ever marketed.
    To give you an idea of the different commands that I utilized when creating very simple voice commands in the Dragon, here are some of the commands I created:
    Adjust color, adjust contrast, adjust curves, adjust hue saturation, adjust levels, auto color, (for the brushes if I wanted to increase them, bigger 1 bigger 2, bigger 5, bigger 7 (as you can see, it would increase the size of the brush dependent upon the number that followed the word bigger)), clone, copy, copy layer, crop, curves, cut, delete layer, deselect, duplicate layer, feather, erasure, eyedropper, etc., etc., etc)
    Once again, I am dictating this message and not typing it.
    Hopefully you can see we have a mouse in your hand, or a pen tablet and you are looking at the screen and reciting commands, and not having to look at the keyboard or the mouse or the walkom pen or what ever, and when you speak a command the application does exactly what you want, this allows you to concentrate on what you are trying to create as opposed to how to create it!
    This is the major differentiator between working manually (and trust me the pros on this forum can work very very fast manually), and working allowing your creativity to come to the front as opposed to your technical specific knowledge of the application and how to maneuver it.
    Anyway, I come out of many many years of information technology and this is probably one of the best combinations of applications that increases the efficiency of the individual working with said applications.
    I probably should go back and correct any recognition errors that the Dragon might have made (which were probably made because of my poor pronunciation were slurring of words), but I would rather not.
    It would be better for you to see (and I guess the other members of the form to see) the voice activation software can do for you.
    In closing, and once again I have to stress I am in no way affiliated with the Dragon, combining these two applications increases your productivity tenfold.
    Good luck, and I hope you shoulder feels better.
    Bob
    ps., ok so i lied, I corrected 5 small errors the Dragon made.... but you would have understood what I was trying to say anyway....

  • Can I install boot camp drivers using an automated command for deploying with sccm

    I would like to include the boot camp installer as part of my SCCM task sequence.  I have imported the drivers but they don't all install and in turn it fails to complete.
    In order to include the installer I need to let the installer run unattended and I cannot find any command line switches for that purpose.

    The Bootcamp setup.exe is a silent Installer. See the following part from AutoUnattend.xml.

  • Command for Max y on scrolling MC?

    Hi guys,
    So I have a movieclip that scrolls via a 'up' and 'down' button on the right, they work fine, however, they don't recognise the top or bottom of the movieclip and as such continue scrolling indefinitely.
    Is there a way to set my max/min scroll height so it doesn't go past y(0) or like y(2000)?
    code:
    onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
    if (scrollDown) {
    _root.ScrollPaneMain.GuruQuestions._y = _root.ScrollPaneMain.GuruQuestions._y-2;
    And the buttons contain the following:
    on (rollOver) {
    scrollDown = 1;
    on (rollOut) {
    scrollDown = 0;

    Add those into your conditionals... if (scrollDown && _root.ScrollPaneMain.GuruQuestions._y > ? ) {  // example only, > <, ??

  • How to write to stdout and read from stdin using unix pipe = '|'

    Hi,
    How can I read the output written by 1 program to stdout as the input
    (from stdin) to another program?
    Example:
    $java pgm1 | pgm2
    pgm1's output is of multiple lines with tab delimited words in each line. I need to know when each line ends as well.
    Thanks,
    -Ambika

    I tried reading from System.in - using a Buffered reader and the readline() method as follows:
    BufferedReader buffIn = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
    while(!(get= buffIn.readLine()).equalsIgnoreCase("")){
    System.out.println("get:<"+get+">");
    but unless I explicitly use the keyboard (type), it doesn't seem to be able to read input.
    I also tried to use
    Properties.load(System.in) - which is really what I'd love to be able to do to reduce processing on my end - but no luck there either!
    Is there anything I need to set the System.in or something?

  • How to send html messages using unix mail ?

    Hi,
    I'm wondering if it's possible to send html formated mail using Unix mail command ?
    Regards,
    Didier.

    It works fine for me right out of the box; I've done zero to configure anything. In my case, I presume the HTML is encoded in a file. Then I invoke a script which adds the following mail headers before the HTML, then calls sendmail:
    <pre class=command>MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1
    To: $address
    From: $MY_EMAIL
    Subject: File: $subject
    </pre>
    In the header, variables $address, $MY_EMAIL, and $subject are filled in by the shell script.
