Experienced Java developer needed

We are looking for an experienced java developer to assist us with an existing web based applet project. The developer should have expertise in creating web friendly applets designed with JRE compatibility in mind.
The current applet will allow users to compose a custom designed artwork using fonts, uploaded images and backgrounds. The project utilizes a java applet that is controlled by javascript. This applet is controlled by Cold Fusion code that we developed to interface with this applet. The ColdFusion code represents the interface of the applet
We are having issues with JRE computability with the various versions of Java 1.4. We are looking for someone to assist us in correcting these issues. We will provide the existing source code of the applet. The final product should be compatible with the most popular version of Java currently seeded with Internet Explorer.
All interested parties please contact me by email at the following address:

Hi Andrew,
I'm sure there are many ways to achieve this. However, since java is my strong point, my suggestion will be biased towards java.
Have your trigger invoke a java stored procedure. This procedure will send a request to a java servlet. The servlet will use JDBC to invoke your other java stored procedure.
I don't think this forum is a suitable way for me to convey specific details of my suggestion, but I think that it may help you to focus on specific areas within the very broad realm that is considered to be java.
I suggest you concentrate on the following topics:
1. Servlets
2. JDBC
For your information, I think the following resources are good starting points:

Servlets Web Site

Good Luck,
Avi.

    About Brilig
The online advertising industry is in the midst of a disruptive transition from untargeted ad 'space' buys to sophisticated targeted 'audience' buys. While there are many different kinds of data that can be used individually to target consumers, there is currently no way to combine them to get a complete view of a unique consumer.
The problem is compounded by the fact that audience data exists in different forms, in thousands (maybe millions) of unconnected databases. Brilig is in the business of weaving online audience information together from any data source, wherever it is located. Our service provides a seamless way for publishers (audience sellers) to make their segments available for sale to the open market. Using Brilig, marketers, agencies and behavioral targeters (audience buyers) can access, analyze and combine these audience segments to find lift hidden within the intersection of them and transfer that lift to their online advertising campaigns.

  • What does a java developer needs to know?

I'm studying "thinking in java", and trying to learn how to make GUI's with swing.
i feel i'm progressing, specially because this is the first programming language i'm studying seriously. i want to work as a java programmer. i want to learn it very well. I got a class about UML, and we are learning the basics using the book of booch, rumbaugh and jacobson. but only the basics(for now). my question is this:
if i want to be a really good java programmer, what else do i have to study?do i have to know UML very well or not? i think it's not enough knowing the language to be able to work and understand it as a whole.i need your help because here in argentina i don't know many java programmers, and i know that there in the USA you got better(and moore) programmers than us(surely you are some of them).
if you know good books, i hear you suggestions too.
    i apologize for my english.
    Thank you

    Just a couple of thoughts:
Firstly, although huge, Thinking in Java (IMHO) is not a good place to start for Swing - it is very light-weight in this area.
I recently started to teach myself Swing and I haven't yet seen a book that has tempted me to part with cash. I followed all the Swing related tutorials, dredged these forums every day, and did a couple of throwaway projects. I am no expert now, but this approach got me through. You can also search the forum for books that others may recommend.
As for other things you need to know - I would say that kind of depends on what you want to do. Do you want to build web-based apps, desktop apps, apps that run on your TV top or in your hand? Give some thought to that and it will help you narrow down the list of complimentary skills you need.
In ANY case, make sure you have a thorough understanding of OOP, go through the Sun tutorials, and get yourself as well-grounded in the basics as you possibly can. You can then move forward.
    Good Luck,
    Steve

  • Web Dynpro JAVA developer attempting to unravel Environmental Compliance source code seeks guidance from EC NWDS Composition Environment specialist

It frustrates me to have to ask for detailed instruction on this issue, but normal means of importing these Java-based EC software archives just aren't working in our NWDI system. We never moved our production WDJ applications to CE (like so many others we jumped straight from NW7.01 to NW7.3) but I'm doing my part to come up to speed on composition projects. No matter how we create the NWDI track and import the software archives and dependencies, we can't get to a state where we can successfully import a project (product?) from the Development Infrastructure into the Composite Explorer perspective.
I need to know specifically how I, an experienced WDJ developer with no exposure to CE, can take the five .SCA files that contain Environmental Compliance 3.0 and get the project into my NWDS 7.31 workspace in a workable state, on my local system, without NWDI. Actual code modifications can wait for the moment, I just need to analyze the classes and EJB's to identify where we might want to make enhancements, and where/how to use the provided Enhancement Spots. I've followed the links, downloaded the .pdf's, read the online help, stepped thru the tutorials - I've done my due dilligence. It's common knowledge that Composition Environment is no longer recommended for new development, and as the EH&S programs are converted to WDA there are even fewer resources to look to.
These specific types of pleas don't often return results, as I have learned over my years in this community, but nothing ventured-nothing gained, and I am no longer afraid of looking dumb or being scolded. I just need help.
As always, points will be awarded.

    I agree in part Tobias.
Because the source code is in the SCA within the src.zip file within each SDA.
What does not exist within that SCA Standard is the SOURCEARCHIVES folder. In that folder should be a file (the extension .dcsa) for each DC (component) that SCA Standard.
In short, yes it is possible to perform a reverse engineering...
Just import the SCA Standard in NWDS.
Note the name and type of all DCs, its dependencies and its public parts... yes, it's a lot of work, as there are many interdependent DCs.
Done so, create a new workspace in NWDS and create a new SCA in DI (custom), inside it create all DCs with the same names and types (and dependencies)... identical to SCA Standard.
And soon after, entering the SRC folder of each of these projects (DCs) and replace its contents with the contents of src.zip file that is contained within the SDA files within the SCA Standard.
That done, we will have an SCA Custom with all representative of the SCA Standard DCs, but editable.
I agree it is not nearly a good practice, or even that SAP indicate that this is done... however, it is possible yes.
    Att,
    Angelo

  • Good Resource for Finding Java Developer for Startup?

Not sure if this is the appropriate to place to post but we are looking for an interested Java developer to come onboard our very small (2 man) startup to help us with our networked Java application.
I have looked around a little online and not found much so does anybody know where is a good place to scout out such persons? Admittedly we are not flush with $ but we do have some and we would be providing equity along with ongoing cash payment. Of course we also understand we won't be getting the best Java guru out there but then we don't really need that either, just someone capable of simple socket programming, swing and basic SQL stuff. Not rocket science, and we would even consider less experienced developers with a keen interest to learn and use this as an opportunity to develop some new real-world skill so their own. We are very laid back.
    Any help appreciated.

    I'd try one of:
    Your local Entrepreneurs meetup
    - there's bound to be one, and people who go along to this sort of thing will either be able to recommend someone or you might even meet the right sort of Java dev there.
The Joel On Software jobs board
    - because the right sort of people read Joel On Software
    Personal recommendations
    - because that's always best; if you're not asking around like crazy, you should be.

  • Java Development issue/differences between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo (??)

    Hi Everyone,
I am a Java developer that uses my 17" MBP Core Duo for all of my development. Lately, I've been trying to use both the Glassfish Application Server V2 (from Sun) and Maven 2.09 from the Apache project. I have configured identical scenarios on my MBP Core Duo and on a 15" MBP Core 2 Duo.
The scenario involves compiling and running some webservices (at least on the Core 2 Duo) in a local development environment. Both machines use the default JDK 1.5.0_13 installed on the machine.
On the 17" Core Duo, issuing a "mvn install" command produces the following error:

Is this an issue between the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo? I can't see that it is since I don't believe the hardware influences the software to that degree. However, I am at a loss for what is causing the issue and the Apache Maven list insists that there are developers that are using Maven successfully on OS X.
I really need to get past this issue, but I am at a loss. Please help.

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide??

I posted in the JDeveloper forum, as well as sending email via your feedback link found on the tutorial but I am a little disappointed by this:
The Oracle® Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide has some errors in it.
in Windows, I simply chose, start
-> programs -> Oracle Database Express Edition -> Go To Database Home Page -> click documentation from the link -> and run the Oracle® Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide tutorial.
the problem is there are mistake(s) in the tutorial, for example: section 4-19 is this:
"The complete code for the method should now be as follows:
public boolean authenticateUser(String userid, String password,
HttpSession session) throws SQLException { "
    it needs to be this:
public boolean authenticateUser(String jdbcURL, String userid, String password,
    HttpSession session) throws SQLException {
    Also:
there is no mention that :
the port and SID must also be passed in the
ds.setURL(jdbcUrl) found in the authenticateUser() method, or an exception is thrown. This differs from value of the jdbcUrl string found in the getDBConnection() , which makes it hard to figure out
The tutorial is great even if it doesn't work out of the box, but I am disappointed that errata or completed code for this project is not available, especially when you explicitely point to it via the steps mentioned above.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

The tutorial seems to be using the old JDeveloper 10.1.2.
If you are aiming to learn JDeveloper then just use the tutorials linked from the JDeveloper home page.

  • Issue with create user and issue with Java Development tab

I have two issues with EP,
    1. When i login with Super Admin user, i am unable to Create any user from User Admin tab. Do i have to change the settings of the Super Admin? or is there any criteria for creating the user?
    2. How to assign any user the Java Development tab. Though i login with a super admin user i am unable to see the Java Development role and when tried to assign the role, there were no searches for that Java....

    Hi Adi,
by default the super administrater has got all permissions. Thus you should be able to create portal users when using a user assigned to the portal group Administrators.
In order to help you with your first question we need more information. Please describe the malfunction in detail. Have a look into the log files and post related error messages.
Regarding your second question: You will find the java development role in PCD
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.pct.pdk/Roles/com.sap.pct.pdk.JavaDeveloper.
If not, then you haven't installed the PDK business package in your portal.
Go to service.sap.com, choose downloads and search the package (PDK should do it). Download the package, and deploy on your portal using SDM.
    Best regards,
    Martin

  • Oracle database 11g certification for Java developer

    Hello,
I'm Java developer, OCPJP 6 ( Oracle Certified Professional, Java Programmer +6+ ) and
I decided to pass exams: 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052 to get OCA ( Oracle Database +11g+ Administrator Certified Associate ) certificate,
but I need some advice, maybe i should seek other certificate, that would be more valuable for Java developer, than OCA.
    Thanks for advice.

The answer of whether a particular certification is valuable depends on you, not the tests themselves. The Oracle Certified Master for example is an extremely prestigious certification, and I have considered seeking it at some point in the future to improve my professional credentials. However, the same certification would have absolutely no value to my wife, because she's a homemaker with no interest or intent of ever working with Oracle.
Using an example a little closer to yours, only reversed --- I work as a DBA and PL/SQL developer. On several occasions I have dabbled with Java, and took a couple of classes when I worked for Oracle. I could code in Java if I had to, but wouldn't really be good without a lot of practice. However, I've never really had a sufficient need in my work to dig in and really practice enough to use it. I considered going for the Oracle Java certifications as a means of kick-starting that and getting to the point where it was really a viable option in my development. Ultimately I decided not to because I've been working with Oracle for better than fifteen years and there has never been an occasion where I really felt a need to know Java. If I were to spend a bunch of time improving my Java skills just for the certification, there's no guarantee I would ever use them after that.
Coming back to you -- if you already need SQL and DBA skills in your work, then those certifications should be of value to you immediately. If you think that you might work (or want to work) more with SQL and DBA-level skills in the future, then they should be of value to you in the future. If you won't use the skills now or ever, then the exams do nothing but add a line to your resume (which still has value, but you must determine how much).

  • How to deploy a pure jave development component to server?

i have created a pure java development component.
but i cannot find a way to deploy it to server
    is there any way?

You need to essencially wrap your java development component with a deployable development component.
In order to do that, you need to:
    - Define a public part for your development component of type assembly.
    - Create a deployable DC ( one that results in a SDA or a EAR file ).
    - Reference your DC from the deployable DC. This will include the generated .jar file into the project.
The definitions of the different types can be found here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/93/d5a73f05c4265de10000000a114084/content.htm
I would either create a library component ( results in SDA ) or a web dynpro component ( ear file ).

  • M3G Developer Needed

We are looking for a Java developer to work with our 3D artist to develop a web based real-time 3D application using the JSR 184:Mobile 3D Graphics API for J2ME.
The key application features include the following:
Loading/Unloading 3D objects in real time
    controlling 3D morphing with GUI
loading/unloading skelatal animation in real time
    changing colors of 3D objects
Saving it out as an animated gif

Even for a skilled programmer, porting something from one platform to another is generally a lot more than a few hours work since the application will need to be completely rewritten to work within the SDK framework.

  • Using CE 7.1 ESR with ABAP based web services requires java development?

    Hi All,
When developing a web service in ABAP, what java development must I do to make the web services available in an ESR that is located on CE 7.1?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Mel Calucin
    Bentley Systems, Inc.

    Hi Stefan,
Someone told me that the difference between CE 7.1 ESR and PI 7.1 ESR is that to register the ABAP web service into CE 7.1 ESR you need to create EJBs and that you don't need to do this for PI 7.1 ESR (since ithe PI 7.1 ESR is ABAP based).  I didn't think that this was the case so I put this question in this forum to confirm this.   I am arguing to put in CE 7.1 because we don't need the PI 7.1 functionality.  This someone told me that we are more of an ABAP shop than a Java shop and that we don't want to develop EJBs whenever we develop ABAP based web services.
    Thanks.
