Export Time column to Excel

I know SSRS doesn't really have a time data type outside of the datetime type, but I'm trying to have a time column which exports to excel as a time data type.  I've tried a few different ways, but the only way that seems to convert over is having the
textbox expression =TimeValue("00:30:00").  The problem is this creates a datetime and displays the date portion.  I've tried using custom formats of hh:mm:ss, and those look fine while running the report, but excel sees it as a negative datetime
which produces a malformed value.
To clarify by example, I have a time 00:30:00 which exists in a textbox on the report that I want to export to excel as 00:30:00 but as a data type of Time so that if someone were to write excel formulas based off of those cells, it would be able to perform
time-based arithmetic on them.
Any ideas?

Bin Long,
I'm wanting to preserve the datatype such that Excel recognizes the column as a Time type.  Formatting the column will make it look right, but it will be recognized as a string in Excel.
Ravi,
This functionality also does not preserve the actual datatype.  It is really just a wrapper for the format function.  What I need is for the data itself in the column to be recognized as a Time datatype in Excel and not just be formatted
like one.
I'm getting the feeling this just isn't possible in SSRS which is disappointing.  I've tried writing custom code for it and creating custom types but neither of these work either.  I have also looked into converting the column into a SQL time type
(newly available in 2008 R2), but that also isn't giving me the desired result.  I feel that SSRS is really lacking in the available datatypes arena.

  • From Time column in Excel to Java Date ?

    Hi there!
After I have read range data from Excel to a Java Object[][]
array/table, one of my excel time columns becomes "floats"
numbers when I try to access them in Java, like this:
from 15:00:00 in Excel to 0.625 in my Java program
How can I avoid this OR transform/parse this 0.625 number
back again to time/Date 15:00:00 inside Java ? hmmm
Is there any setup of jCom that can controll this somehow ?
I have been able to transform:
from 11.15.01 in Excel, becomes "Thu Nov 15 00:00:00 CET 2001"
    with the jCom bridge ...
When I have this "string" on this format, it's easy
to get a Java Date of this with SimpleDateFormat.
... but not with this time of mine :-)
Any clues where to look or a solution for this ?

Excel stores times as decimal fractions (representing portions of a day)
There is no Time data type in VB so is probably represented by a Single
    object.
This object is then converting to a java.lang.float on the Java side.
0.625 can be parsed by multiplying by (24*60*60) to get the number
    of seconds after midnight.
A list of supported COM data types and their java equivalents
can be found in chapter 7 of the jCOMReference pdf file.

  • Getting the Headings and Time Column on Excel Spreadsheet

    Hi,
I am reading a 2-D array of data on an excel spreadsheet. Currently I only have the readings on the spreadsheet. Ideally I would like to have a time column in the spreadsheet as well and also the ability to add column name to each column of data read in the spreadsheet. Is there any way through which I can do this? I have added an image of the wiring I am doing for my interface below.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

Attached is how I save data and time stamp to a csv file.
The header information is on the far left, before the loop.
It's probably considered an  "Old School" way of doing things.
Let me know if this helps.

  • Export more than 253 characters from ALV column to excel

    Hi
I have one problem. In internal table, i have one column which is having 2500 characters. I have to export this column in excel but i am able to export only 253 characters max from alv standard export.  How can i export complete column to excel from ALV?
    Regards
    Manish

Create a new pf status and add a excel button in the menu. While creating new menu, use the standard SAP menu and just change the excel button. SY-UCOMM would &EXCEL. Use GUI_DOWNLOAD to download the excel or the file. It is not achievable using the standard SAP download option.

  • During export from Discover to Excel, Time Format changes to Number Format

    Hi
I have a seconds column which is of number datatype. But in my report, I am converting the number in *0HH:MI:SS* format. For example, I have *4952534 seconds*. So my report is showing *1375:42:14* which is a Time Format. It looks good when I view the data in Discoverer Viewer or Plus. But when I try to export the data to Excel, the time format gets converted to *4952534 seconds*, which is creating problems. So can you suggest on how can I preserve the formatting during export to excel from discoverer.
    Thanks
    Sachin

    Hi,
Excel will not implement the 0HH:MI:SS data format, it just gets the field as a number. You will have to format the field into text using the calculation from my previous post.

  • How can i export the data to excel which has 2 tables with same number of columns & column names?

Hi everyone, again landed up with a problem.
After trying a lot to do it myself, finally decided to post here..
I have created a form in form builder 6i, in which on clicking a button the data gets exported to excel sheet.
It is working fine with a single table. The problem now is that i am unable to do the same with 2 tables.
Because both the tables have same number of columns & column names.
Below are 2 tables with column names:
    Table-1 (MONTHLY_PART_1)
    Table-2 (MONTHLY_PART_2)
    SL_NO
    SL_NO
    COMP
    COMP
    DUE_DATE
    DUE_DATE
    U-1
    U-1
    U-2
    U-2
    U-4
    U-4
    U-20
    U-20
    U-25
    U-25
Since both the tables have same column names, I'm getting the following error :
    Error 402 at line 103, column 4
alias required in SELECT list of cursor to avoid duplicate column names.
So How can i export the data to excel which has 2 tables with same number of columns & column names?
Should i paste the code? Should i post this query in 'SQL and PL/SQL' Forum?
    Help me with this please.
    Thank You.

You'll have to *alias* your columns, not prefix it with the table names:

  • Removing the ID of a lookup column when exporting SharePoint list to Excel

    Hi,
I export a list in Excel and I noticed the lookup column contains an ID together with the name (e.g. John Doe, #12). Is there a way I can avoid exporting the ID in Excel?
    Thanks.

LookUp Field Values have a string representation of “(ID);#(VALUE)”, i.e. “2;#Second Entry”.
If you export the list in excel you could create a formula or macro that split/copy only the value in a
new column and then hide the real one.
Try the following blog post for same samples:

  • How to handle blank time value in excel download in ALV. Please help

    Hi Experts,
I have a ABAP webdynpro report which contains a ALV grid output. The ALV table has a time field (create_time of type tims).
The problem is when the create_time value is initial (00:00:00 by default) it displays 00:00:00 in the ALV.
When I export the contents to excel then there it shows the same value as 12:00:00 AM.
How can I avoid this programmatically? Actually when time is initial then I want to display as blank instead of 00:00:00.
For this if I change the data type of this field to CHAR08 then it displays the value as 0 (if initial) and 140523 (if time has some value or its not initial) instead if 14:05:23.
I don't know if there is any better way to handle this.
    Please help.
    Thanks & Regards
    Gopal

My suggestion is that you make the context attribute a type string. Then when you populate the data into the internal table that is bound to the context you perform a write statement on the date field. Here is some psydo-code.
    if <ls_data>-time is initial.
      clear <ls_output>-time.
    else.
      write <ls_data>-time to <ls_output>-time.
    endif.
This way when the time is inital you can display nothing instead of the 00:00:00.  This should also keep Excel from knowing that this column is a time field. To Excel it will just be a string and it should display whatever text you placed into the field.
Of course this means that filtering and sorting on this field won't work right.  Those operations will be befored without knowledge this is actually a time field.

  • SSIS 2008 R2 Excel Destination Error, "An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.", cannot export to the new Excel (.xlsx) format

    Hello.
I've been attempting to do a very simple task that just isn't working.  For a Data Flow Task action in SSIS, I am trying to export data from a single SQL Server (2008 R2) database table to an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx).  No matter what I do, it
just keeps failing.  The columns in the table match the column header names (in the first row) in the tab I select.  Here is the output I get.
    SSIS package "Package.dtsx" starting.
Information: 0x4004300A at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: Validation phase is beginning.
Warning: 0x80049304 at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: Warning: Could not open global shared memory to communicate with performance DLL; data flow performance counters are not available.  To resolve, run this package as an administrator, or on the system's

    Task failed: Data Flow Task
    SSIS package "Package.dtsx" finished: Success.
I kick-off the action and sometimes is hangs for a few seconds (20+ seconds) and sometimes it doesn't, but either way it fails.  I tried this on a 32-bit machine, 64-bit machine, and still it fails.  I tried an OLE DB connection to Excel and
that doesn't work either.  I made sure that the connection string for the Excel spreadsheet is Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=[filepath\excelfile].xlsx;Extended Properties="EXCEL 12.0 XML;HDR=YES"; and still it doesn't work.
Now, when I switch it over to export to an Excel 2003 spreadsheet (.xls) it works!  But I don't want it to go to the old Excel spreadsheet format, my requirement is to export the data to the new format.  Is there a bug in the Access 2010 Database
Engine that won't allow me to export to the new Excel format?  Otherwise, what can I be doing wrong?  I set the Run64BitRuntime property to False and it still doesn't work.
My solution (so far) is to export it to Excel 2003 and then via the Script Task action use the Excel COM API (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll) for 2010, open the file and save it in the new format (.xlsx) and that works great!  However, the client
doesn't want to install Excel on the database server!  So what can I do when the Excel Destination or OLE DB Destination (to connect to Excel) actions don't work!?  Please help!!!
Like I mentioned, if this is a bug, that would be great to know so I can stop wasting my time.  Thanks again.

Alright, so you mean to say is that the driver is not installed.  Isn't version 12 the 2010 Access Database Engine Driver?  I did install that, and I also tried the 2007 Access DB Engine driver, and both don't work.  What driver am I missing?
The connection string is correctly formatted, yes?
Also, when setting up the OLE DB Destination action and I have it point to the Excel spreadsheet, and I specify as the provider "Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider" and click on Test Connection, the connection is
successful.  Wouldn't that mean the 12.0 version driver is installed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Separator problem after opening a exported CSV file in Excel

    Dear experts,
After exporting a report to .CSV file from BEX browser, I opened this file with Excel. I found that "," is considered as separator, but not ";" which is by default the separator in CSV file exported.
For example, when i open the CSV in Notepad, i have:
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value"
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value, date, time"
When it is opened in Excel, I have
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value"(Column A)
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value(Column A) date(Column B)    time"(Column C)
Is that a problem in Excel configuration? How to solve it (for example, set ; as separator)?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Please try opening your .csv file in excel. I am assuming that all texts are in one column. Select this column, go to Data>Text to Columns. Set the checkbox to Delimited. Click on next. Set the delimeter to ; and the text qualifier to ". Click on next. Click on finish. Then save in another filename. Try opening this new .csv file in notepad and see if it has the format you needed.
    Hope this helps,

  • I saved my Form Central spreadsheet file once as a excel file but it will not allow me to save it a second time as an excel file.  It says that I cannot complete this action because the file me be open in another application, but it is not open in another

I saved my Form Central spreadsheet file once as a excel file but Forms Central will not allow me to save the file a second time as an excel file.  I am informed that I cannot complete this action because the file me be open in another application, but it is not open in another application. What is the problem, and how do I solve the problem.  Thank you. Jeff

First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).
    You can find it here:
    [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File
If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
    CS7 = CC v9
    CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1

  • Problem in exporting ALV Report to excel sheet

    Hi All,
I have developed a Report and now facing problem in exporting the same to excel sheet.
When we click the "Locate File" icon in the report layout, the system will pop up a window with radio buttons. I have opted for 'Spreadsheet'.
When i save the excel sheet into my desktop, the excel file has all the report headers (Title of each column). But no value is exported.
There are around 15 columns in the report and the excel sheet shows value of last 2 columns which has some text.
I have been into ALV report development and developed around 30+ reports in the same fashion.
What might be the reason behind this issue?
When i export other reports into excel sheet, everything is perfect without any flaws......
    Kindly help me out......
    Regards
    Pavan

    Hi,
Here's my suggestion: Install OpenOffice.org and ask SAP to deliver good integration with OpenOffice.org.
Alternative suggestion: re-install SAP Gui on the PC where the integration is not working. If that does not help, re-install Microsoft Office as well.
Here's my comment: I think you should ask this question in a different forum, e.g. in the Duet forum. That may not be the correct forum either, but as it is a Microsoft/SAP integration technology forum, someone there may know the solution.
    Regards,
    Raj.
