Extension Builder 1.0.1 Posted

Hi all,
We've just released a new build of ExtensionBuilder, 1.0.1, to the Eclipse update site at http://cssdk.host.adobe.com/cssdk/update/
If you've already installed Extension Builder, you can get this by selecting Help > Check for Updates and following the prompts. If you do not yet have Extension Builder installed, we will be posting an updated zip version to Partner Portal shortly.
The main enhancements of this release are:
Creative Suite Host Adapter (CSHA) libraries are now available from the properties panel: These add support for events from AS in InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator and Photoshop (for the latter two with a native plug-in).
Localisation supported within the Bundle Manifest Editor: Using a % prefix. More information on this will follow shortly.
SWFs link types supported in the Bundle Manifest Editor: You can now link to a specific MXML application, in the same project or another one (where previously we required the full path).
Happy coding!
James

1) Open Eclipse (Flash Builder) preferences.
2) Under Install/Update, select Available Software Site.
3) In the list, there should be an entry for update site pointing to: http://cssdk.host.adobe.com/cssdk/update if it's not there create it.
4) make sure the update site is enabled.
5) If the update does not start automatically, you go to Help > Software Updates...

  • CS SDK/CS Extension Builder

    Fellow Scripters,
Ten years ago, I started this forum to write about InDesign scripting. These days, the forum pretty much runs itself, thanks to an incredible group of scripters who donate their time to answering questions and posting their discoveries.
Long-time forum denizens have probably noticed that I haven't been around much in the last year or so--it's because I've been working on something new: the cross-application Creative Suite SDK and Creative Suite Extension Builder. These tools provide a bridge between the world of Flash, Flex, and ActionScript and the scripting DOMs available in the CS applications. Extensions built using the CS SDK run as CSXS panels inside Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. These panels are mini-AIR applications, look like any other panel in the user interface. They can contain any controls that you can build with Flash and Flex.
I don't think of the CS SDK/CS Extension Builder as replacements for our existing scripting languages and UI building capabilities--I think of them as a way of extending those capabilities. If you need to build an InDesign panel, they're definitely the way to go. If you're curious, you can find more information at:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/sdk
I've got a blog post up about creating a (fairly) complete InDesign panel at:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/cssdk/2010/08/makesideheads-a-complete-indesign-cs5-panel-2.html
Hope at least some of you find this useful, and keep on scripting!:-)
    Thanks,
    Ole

    Yes, already found solution myself.
Added clode property to Flex app window, and called event removing.
    controller.detach();
    Thanks for help Harbs.

  • Unable to buy Creative Suite Extension Builder

On the site http://www.adobe.com/ch_de/products/cs-extension-builder.html I click on 'buy'.
A pop up appears where I have to chose a Plan and Amout. And whatever I choose there, the button to add the product is always grayed out.
This happens on windows 7 with chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer. (And with opera you don't even get the popup but 'broken link').
The same if you are logged out or logged in.
I'm trying to buy the software since a month and trial will run out somewhen.
    regards

For the love of....did you bother to even look one or two posts above or below this one?
The same argument you use are just as invalid as they are in the other thread.

  • Unable to install Extension Builder 2.1

I'm unable to install the 2.1 trial on a Windows 7 machine.  I get a message saying:
'The setup has detected that no version of the Extension Builder 2.1 is installed. The specified command-line options require that the applicatoin be installed to continue.  The setup will now terminate'
There's nothing showing ig the add remove programs dialog (I thought maybe a half install leaving stuff around.  It's the ful trial install I donwloaded not an update,  Any ideas?

Same problem here, but after I deleted all the "Extension Builder" -related registry keys, it ends me with these popups on any install try onward:
It says about upgrading (or downgrading in this case), tho it's my first time installing EB21, the trial version for now. Atm of the installation, I had eclipse with extension builder 3 (got from labs just a day before), none of them flash builders, and win7 as os. The initial message was the same "The setup has detected that no version of etc..", with that found my way here on these topics. After a full day and a half of trying almost anything adviced about the issue through searching, the message above remains constant. I've tried registry search/delete for keys(&parents), registry clean, installation with the flash builder 4.6 trial preinstalled, and also this solution for the Error: -1625 here, unfortunately no luck on any.
Lastly, I may also have messed up the thing myself... When I rolled the "find..." -command in regedit for the first time, on first match I deleted only the key (not parent) and continued search to the next one. Right after, realized to backup the registry. .. aand just after that, read the post about deleting also the parent of related keys. So with my rather limited knowledge about registry, there could be still this one set left, where only the searchword qualified key is removed and other related keys remains. Could this be the problem? Is there anyway to get through the installation?
I could go with EB3, but I need to make extensions for Photoshop CS6, so they'd benefit me in my job. I understood EB3 lacks support for CS6?.

  • ZXP Not Created in Extension Builder 2.1 for an Extension Created in Extension Builder 1.5

    Hi all,
We originally started creating InDesign extensions "manually" several years ago, as we did not yet want to pay for the original Extenson Builer 1.0. We produced our ZXP files from the contents of the bin-debug folder using Fabien Bizot's Java-based "ZXPPackager" utililty (http://www.lafabrick.com/),
When we finally installed Extension Builder 1.5, we had some problems creating ZXP with the built-in exporter for Abode Application Extension. Since the compiler put all the files into the bin-debug folder still, I could still use ZXPPackager.
We just upgraded to Extension Builder 2.1. For any legacy project, whether it was still "manually created" (i.e., without even Extenson Builder 1.5) and I copied the sources into a new Extension Builder project,  or created in Extenson Builder 1.5 and converted to Extension Bulder 2.1, the Export to ZXP does not work. I see the compiler is creating a bin-release folder, then it disappears, and no ZXP is to be found. Since bin-debug no longer has all files in it like it used to, the ZXPPackager can't find what it's looking for and can't make a ZXP - so I am stuck.
    Please - help!
    mlavie

I have an update, and would greatly appreciate anyone's help:
Upon further investigation, the issue is not the Extension itself (regardless of whether it was created newly in EB2.1, in EB1.5, or created "manually" by building my own manifest, etc.).
The issue is that there are two library projects whose inclusion as project referennce in any Extension Builder project (regardless of whem/how it was created) causes the EB project not to produce a ZXP file using the Export wizard.
I tried deleting the 2 library projects, creating them anew empty - and they could be referenced successfully. I added back all the source files and this solved the problem, as of yesterday. Today, I tried building the ZXPs again, and it stopped working. I should mention that it appears that when the Export did work, it seemed to be changing the referenced project somehow. I noticed that they were given .mxi files, which I thought should not be created for a non EB project.
I should add (i'm about to post a seperate discussion) the Flash Builder error log is giving me a ton of Eclipse errors for many actions. Is this "normal"? By that, I mean is everyone getting those warnings and errors?
    All help greatly appreciated.

  • Questions about migrating Configurator 4 PS panel to Extension Builder 3.

    Hello,
I am in the process of creating a set of Photoshop tools that I'm hoping to release on Adobe Exchange in the very near future. The tools are a set of javascript files that are executed through a simple panel interface consisting of 4 buttons. There is also a logo at the top of the panel that links to a tutorial section on my website (kind of like the Adobe Paper Texture Pro panel if you're familiar with it).
I initially created the panel using Configurator 4 (RIP). Unfortunately, I only recently found out about Adobe's plans to remove Flash based Extension Panel functionality. I've switched over to Extension Builder 3, so I can submit my Extension to Adobe for approval as soon as possible. The main issue is that I am not a programmer. I'm learning, and I'm actually quite pleased with the results so far, but there have been plenty of headaches along the way. As for the migration to Extension Builder 3, I've been able to work around or find solutions to most of the issues, but there are still a few that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on:
How do you create a 'fly-out' menu for a panel? I wasn't sure how to do this in Configurator 4 either, but at least they provided an 'About' menu option above the standard 'Close' and 'Close Tab' menu options.
This is minor, but when dragging the panel around, I noticed that the contents of the panel disappear and you only see the gray background color. The panel from Configurator didn't do this (you could see the contents at all time). Is there a way around this?
As mentioned above, I have a logo that used to link to the tutorial for the tool on my website. I searched around, and it seems like something that is simply not possible to do anymore. This is unfortunate, because I wanted to provide users with easy access to the tutorial page. Is it possible to open a new panel from another panel? That way, I could at least have the tutorial open as a new panel within Photoshop. (I just noticed a potential answer to this in another thread - though it may be slightly over my head)
I took a look at the HTML5, ADOBE authored Adobe Layer Renamer, but that just makes me more nervous because it has the dragging problem AND no additional fly-out menus. Ideally, I'd prefer it if users didn't have to open Adobe Exchange just to see instructions or information about my Extension.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I appreciate any assistance with these issues!
    Lee

    Hello Lee,
My name is Jeff.   I am similar to your situation where I am not really much of a programmer, but using scripts exported to .jsx files from actions in PS, and I was using Configurator to build a really massive (hundreds of buttons/scripts accordians etc) panel in 3.0,  released it publicly, but retracted because of certain issues and then finally realizing I need to migrate it all over to HTML5 and Extension Builder 3.
I am also at about the same point as you... although I've been trying out the jquery frameworks to build my tabs and other GUI elements... figured out last week how to use custom images for the buttons etc.
I don't know if I am going to need a panel-flyout menu option but I am trying to figure out how to put in regular text-box or pull-down menus... in configurator I found a neat trick to drag and drop accordian-containers into each other... then it acts like a pull-down menu when you have buttons in there.     The problem is html5 and extensionbuilder 3 do not work like this... I can't figure out how to make nested tabs yet or have a GUI pull-down or text-box actually send information to my .jsx files and change them.
Let's keep this forum active and help each other, we all have great ideas to contribute to the extensability of these long-cherished tools and it should not be hard... or else we're all just going to go back to using actions, lol.      For now, I have avoided some issues in configurator, still exporting my panels but with the upcoming release of non-flash-support in PS then people won't be able to use them unless they had the previous PS installed already.      However, you can create your own installers to place the extensions into the right folders, you don't need the .ZXP or exchange to publish or sell your extensions, it's only for a pathway that helps us all to legitamize our projects and become producers through the exchange portal or add-ons or whatever it ends up being.   But personally I am using a freeware program that makes simple installers and having it place the folders into the extension panels folders... then when PS opens there is the extension -- that is all that Extension manager is doing... taking your ZIP (ZXP) and unzipping it to the right folders.
What upsets me is how easy they made it with configurator for me to make a very advanced panel... then pulled the rug out and now it is going to take a lot of work and learning for me to understand how to build the same GUI panels you see attached but in HTML 5....  I will try to share and help out especially with people like us where we have built something in configurator and now we need to port/migrate it to html5/extension builder 3.     Easier said than done. :/

  • Can't get Extension Builder 2.0 with Flash Builder 2.6 to run

Can't get Extension Builder 2.0 with Flash Builder 2.6 to run. I installed Flash Builder 4.6 premium then install CSExtensionBuilder_2_Retail_LS1.
When I create a new hello world project and run it I get a CSIDE1 Sign In for my Adobe ID. I sign in I get operation in progress and then back to the previous screen. It just continues to ask for a sign in.
Anyone else have this problem or any advice to get this working?
    Thanks

  • Does CS Extension Builder support CS6?

    Hi,
Is Extension Builder in the current version designed to work with CS6?
From what I can see, Extesion Builder does not recognise Photoshop CS6 installed in my system.
Do I need to cnhange some settings, or is it not supposed to work?
    Thank you,
    Anatoly

That would be very inconvenient as it doesn't give the developers any
chance to make their extensions CS6-ready before the release...
Those people should have paid attention to http://blogs.adobe.com/cssdk/2011/11/cs-extension-builder-prerelease-is-now-live.html back when it was posted in November. The form might still work, but since it was handled by Gabe, who has left Adobe, it might not still work. Dunno.

  • Is update installation possible for inDesign installed Extension built in CS Extension Builder?

    Hi
    Hope everyone is enjoying.
I have built an extention for Adobe Indesing in CS Extension Builder. I installed the .zxp file using CS Extension Manager. But when I reinstall after updating the extension, Extension Manager shows message
"The extension you are about to install conflicts with the following extions. Do you want to remove the following extensions and continue installation?"
I  want to show an "update found" message for this extension instead of the default message.
Can anybody help me doing this?
    Best regards
    Sal

    Hi Sal,
I don't think that's a supported workflow. You might want to think about posting your extension onto Adobe Exchange which can manage updates for you.

  • Photoshop cc 2014 with Extension Builder 3 not working properly.

I can't get even the most basic panel to work in CC 2014. I have created a Default Extension Builder project in eclipse. I then follow this instructions Adobe Extension Builder and Creative Cloud 2014, but when I try to debug it, it doesn't work. The panel shows up (with nothing in it) but says "Cannot complete command because the extension could not be loaded."
I have created an extension for CC, then changing everything according to the link above, tried to start it in CC 2014 I get the same error, even though it worked in CC.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem or what is causing it?
If not, could anyone provide me with an empty panel project made in Extension Builder that works for you, so that I can maybe figure out what the differences are.
    Regards,
    Mattias

  • Having a problem with Flash Builder and Extension Builder - images not apearing on Mac system

Have a panel created in Flash Builder 4.5 with Extension Builder 2.1. Everything is fine when installed on a PC but when installed on a Mac the images in the panel do not show.
Mac and PC both using Adobe Photoshop CC . Both installed from same .ZXP file using Adobe Extension Manager CC.
    Any ideas?

No I used relative path - the path is  images/image name
    example images/cRight.png
tried downloading Extension Builder 2.1 and compiling on Mac but still have same results - images show up fine in design window , but not when running panel in Photoshop
    Created a new project: testImage
added an image component to form
answered yes to add asset to project
    ran project
image did not show up in Photoshop
    went back to project
checked item Embed under Common image properties
ran project and image shows up
Looks like it works if I add @Embed("assets/image name") on Mac to display images
    tried in my real project:
Looks like it works if I add @Embed("images/image name") on Mac to display images
When I change this on PC to @Embed("images/image name") images do not show Up
Don't know if I need to create two versions one for Mac one for PC
Don't know how this would affect product on Adobe Exchange
