Extract Texture feature output

I'm trying to use the IMAQ Extract Texture Feature VI.  In reading the help file I see that the Texture Feature output "is a 2D array that contains the extracted feature. The number of rows in the array corresponds to the number of windows used in the image."  What this doesn't explain, is what are the columns of the array?  I used all the default inputs and got an output with the expected number of rows and 40 columns.   Can anyone point me to documentation of some kind that can describe what's in these columns?
Thanks!

Ok, I was able to answer my own question.  If you look on the NI website there is a special page for "NI Vision Concepts Help" http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/AA0ADE1B25EC1CD086257B1F00598BB6 .  If you download the zip file on this page there's a description of the texture feature extraction algorithm that says:
"The texture defect detection algorithm extracts five Haralick features—entropy, dissimilarity, contrast, homogeneity, and correlation—from the GLCM calculated at each partition of the subband texture."
"The number of feature vector elements extracted to represent a texture sample is equivalent to the number of selected wavelet subbands multiplied by 5 (the number of Haralick features extracted from each wavelet subband). For example, if an application uses all 8 subbands, the size of the resulting feature vector is 40. "
I'm annoyed that this was so hard to find though.  Buried in a zip file? Really NI?

  • What are the extracted features in the IMAQ Extract Texture Feature VI?

    Hi,
I am new to LabVIEW and are in need of some help. I am moving a feature extraction procedure from MATLAB into LabVIEW, this involved gathering information on textures from a gray level co-occurrence matrix (glcm). I believe that the "IMAQ Extract Texture Feature VI" will include many of the feature I want to extract but it does not seem to be listed anywhere what these features are. When I treat the entire image as one region it outputs a 1-D array of 40 values, it would be great if someone could tell me what each of these values represents or point me in the right direction.
On a side note, the original code uses a glcm that is the average of four glcm with different displacement vectors ([0 1], [-1 1], [-1 0], [-1 -1]) representing 0, 45, 90, 135 degrees. How would this be possible in LabVIEW with only one input parameter for the co-occurrence matrix?
    Cheers
Note: the final results do not need to be exactly the same, but the closer the better.

    Hi Ryan,
Did you find the answer to the extracted features? I am trying to do something to detect textures but I have no idea on how to use the textures VIs

I downloaded firefox 9.0.1 and it won't extract and install on a win7 computer. It says cannot open output file. I had previous versions of firefox for 10 years. I tried disabling AV and firewall also. Please help. Nate

Thank you! My solution was slightly different, but in the end, seeing what was going on in the Help menu in the browser did the trick. Turned out I had been stuck for who knows how long "downloading" a version 3! Also had a toolbar to disable but not the Ask.

  • Where is the extract filter feature?

I used the extract feature frequently with CS2. Then I upgraded to CS5,

That certainly seems like a step backward.

Yes, but the Help Files also said this at the very top of that page:

  • Need to perform robust feature extraction and tracking to determine the motion of the camera with respect to a stationary background ?

i have tried to use intensity thresholding but the variations make this unreliable. I need to determine a way to efficiently extract reliable features within a ROI (which can be determined by the last known speed of the platform) and correspond these between successive images to determine speed ? Are there any image analysis/image processing gurus out there? I have enclosed a typical image from one of my sequences (please note the faint stripe of light moves with the platform - it is not a stationary feature)

I tried equalizing your image (Lookup Table: Equalize) and searched for a horizantal edge (Find Straight Edge: Horizantal Edge) with a very high contrast value (100) inside a very big ROI and that seems to work fairly robust. I'm attaching the Vision Builder Script.

  • So they removed Pattern maker, and the Extract filters from Photoshop CS4

Personally I hardly ever used these, but did occasionally. I was wondering how this is going to affect others?
I don't see how removing two items from the filters menu makes much difference to anything. Maybe its more of a launch time issue, although I'm not sure that taking functionality away just to have fraction of a second faster launch, is a little daft.
They are still included on the CD, but this is going to inconvenience me if I ever need them in a freelance role. There were problems with both of them: When I first saw extract, it was almost as if the engineeers themselves hadn't woken up to non destructive editing. And pattern maker lacks the most obvious features, and doesn't perform particularly well. They are also both slow and cumbersome to use.
    But
they do have other occasional uses beyond what they were (admittedly quite badly) designed for, especially pattern maker for reintroducing sampled texture sourced from the image. I don't see much replacement for this

    Regarding "Extract" and "PatternMaker":
If you really need them right now, just add the CS3 plug-ins into CS4 they will work as they always have.
Actually, John Nack has stated that those old plug-ins will be downloadable from the Adobe site if you need them.
    >We've bitten the bullet with this release and have sent a number of features into retirement. Extract, Pattern Maker, Web Photo Gallery, Contact Sheet, Picture Package, and PDF Presentation have been removed from the default installation.
    >
The latter four have been replaced by the Output module in Bridge CS4, and our intention is to replace Extract with features inside Photoshop (building on Refine Edge & more). All of these except PDF Presentation will remain available as optional installs (to be posted on Adobe.com), but over time they'll be phased out.

  • Excel Output is being displayed as HTML in the browser

    Hi All,
I am using PeopleSoft XML Publisher 5.6.2 to generate an Excel report using RTF template. The report runs successfully.
However, when I click the Output file link in the View Log page of process scheduler, the file is being displayed as a HTML page, though the extension of the file is .xls.
Also when I try to save the file by using 'Save Taget as' option, the browser prompts me to save the file as 'mhtm' file and not 'xls' file.
The following is an extract from the output file.

Workaround described in the above blog post is to update the charset to us-ascii replacing UTF-8. This seems to work. But with limited file processing capabilities of peoplecode, this workaround is not a simple solution.
I also verified the mime-type mapping in the web.xml file in the webserver. Please find below the .xls mime-type mapping in the web.xml file.

    Question:
1.How do I force the browser to open the excel output file using either Excel plugin or Excel Application instead of displaying it as HTML page?
2.If not the above, how can I force the system to promt the user to save the file as Excel file instead of mhtml?

  • Extract First Zero Crossing After Peak

I have a signal that approximates a noisy sine wave which I want to broadly break down into segments of negative and positive slope. As peak detection on the original trace is messy and the section of positive slope is complex, I plan to extract these features by working with the differential (the maximum velocity of the principle waveform is largely invariant and can be easily thresholded from the lower amplitude waveforms). I can easily detect the MIN peaks in the differential and now want to walk forward in the dataset to the first transition across the zero line and extract this timepoint to a new dataset. Does anyone have a script that I can modify for this purpose? Essentially, I want to trigger with an existing timepoint, iterate to the first timepoint where ti times ti+1 is negative and then write ti+1 to a new waveform.  I also want to walk backwards to the the first transition across the zero line and extract this timepoint to a new dataset but this is secondary.
    Thanks!
    Matt
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sorry for not responding earlier about my progess.
I was able to extract the timepoints using your advice but now want to go back to the original data and extract the y-values. For some reason, my for loop below completes but only writes no-values? Extracting the x and y values in parallel won't work because I generated by x-value subset using the differential of the original dataset.
The general question is as follows:
Given a common timepoint, find the y-value associated with that timepoint in another channel.
    FOR i=1 TO InitContrLength
       ChDx(i, InitContrY) = ChDx(ChDx(i,InitContr)/Interval, Filtered)
       Next
InitContr is an array of discontinuous time values which represent a subset of the original time series. My for loop is designed to iterate through the InitContr, converting them to an integer representing the appropriate row in my original dataset (Filtered) by dividing the time value by the step interval, and then writing the value from Filtered (which is an array of y-values) that corresponds to that row to InitContrY.
Definitions in case the above is confusing
InitContr = Channel containing a subset of time values
Filtered = Channel containing all y-values from the original waveform
Interval = step width of the original waveform
InitContrY = New Channel that I want to write y-values to that correspond to InitContr x-Values
Any ideas or links to a debugging primer would be greatly appreciated. If I could iterate through my for loop and visualize the variables in real time, I think I could figure this out myself.

  • How can i automate .pdf output and organize by color/bw?

how can i "automate" multi-page .pdf output to preflight/imposition software workflow, organized by color/bw?
basically what i'm trying to do is create a simple output function from InDesign that allows the user to just export a multi-page .pdf into a hot folder and on through preflight and imposition software. i want to be able to tell the hot folder which pages are color -so it can separate, rename and direct color pages to a color queue and b/w pages to a b/w queue.
i've researched indesign distiller presets and the Acrobat JDF but the JDF isn't really meant for this exact purpose and doesn't help reduce the number of steps currently necessary to manually output/rename/etc.
is there another way that i can embed information into a .pdf that could be read by a hot folder?

You might check out this third-party plug-in for InDesign. It may or may not help you (I've never used it). I just saw it on the new Adobe Exchange (beta in Adobe Labs). Here's the description:
Output Factory automates printing and exporting from Adobe InDesign. Export as single pages with variable file names, output layer versions, update modified links on the fly, preflight InDesign files before output, output to several format at once and much more.
Just select the documents, adjust settings and Output Factory will do the rest for you. Keep working with other programs while Output Factory processes InDesign files in the background. Or leave it working overnight to output hundreds of documents, and the job will be done when you return in the morning.
    Key features:
    • Output multiple InDesign files automatically
    • Output as single pages
    • Automate printing and exporting to PDF, PostScript, EPS, Flash, IDML, EPUB and several image formats
    • Output files to multiple formats at once
    • Layer versioning: output layer combinations as single files
    • Update modified links automatically
    • Variable output file names
    • Preflight InDesign files and final PDFs
    • Supports books and booklet printing
    • Send output files over Internet and locally
    • Detailed output history
    System Requirements:
    - Adobe InDesign CS3-CS6
    - Mac OS X 10.5 and later, Intel-based Mac

  • How to view Tidal Job output in a query?

How can I translate this output into readable text?
    Thanks.

I was running the REST api command to get the job output and received the same result as you. I found a method in the documentation that allows you to get the output in readable form.
    Here it is:
    JobOutput.getOutputContent/id

  • Insert/import a texture?

    Hello,
I am a new user to Mac’s and have just discovered the wonder of pages 06.
Previously I was attempting all of my work in a Windows machine using MS Word from office 2000. The one item I dearly miss from word and do not know if it is available in Pages is the add ‘Texture’ feature.
Could an experienced Pages user please inform me if it is possible to insert/import a texture into a Pages document? Ideally I would like to import a texture to the whole page or document and not just into a rectangle or other paragraph shape.
It would be wonderful to build a page design on top of a textured or colored background of ones choice and not be limited to the default color of white.
Thank you for any tips or suggestions.

    Good morning MacMisty,
This will really depend on the texture that you are using.
First of all, think of your intended result. Is this going to be something that you will be printing, or something that you will be sending as a pdf?
Secondly, you cannot control the DPI of the actual object you place and tile for a texture. It will always revert to a 72dpi item. (so if you have something which is 300x300, with a dpi of 150, it should be approximately 2 inches wide. If it is 300x300 and 75dpi, it should be a half inch wide.
Sadly, when used as a tile fill, it imports as 72 dpi, which means your nicely sized image is blown way out of proportion.
Save it in such a way that it is comfortable to see on the screen at 100% in whatever program you are using. resize it so it is the size you want it to appear, and save it at 72dpi. Rescale it down if you have to.
This is a small example of what I mean, and how it looks on screen. Your milage may vary.
(hint, right-click to download the file, otherwise it will open in Safari)

  • Extract configuration to replicate an installation

Say I inherit from an undocumented installation of SQL server.  Is there a way to extract all features, configurations and such to apply them on a different installation?
For instance, if the setup was executed multiple times, can I generate a configuration.ini file contains the culmination of every setup executed?

To the best of my knowledge there is no simple way to see, store, or use consolidated configuration information for SQL Server.
Of course the way things are commonly done these days is to create a VM image including SQL Server and clone that as necessary, which is fine if you are using VMs!
