Extracting difference is attributes for a given row in two different tables

Hope you are doing great. Below is the problem i am facing. There are two tables
1: employeeinfo (HR maintains this table and we cannot alter the records of this table)
2: cmp_employee_info (i have created this table with limited fields we need to monitor for changes, the records in this table are limited).
Procedure:
1: The second tabel stores the same information as employee info but is not updated by HR, but the first table can at any point be updated by HR.
2: A program checks every day for differences in table employeeinfo and cmp_employee_info. If any changes are found it needs to aletr us via emiail regarding he changes and also it updated the cmp_employee_info table.
I have this query in place.
(SELECT cmp_employeeinfo_rms.logonid,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.firstname,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.lastname,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.emailaddr,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.Locationname,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.termdate,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.persontype,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.jobclass,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.assignmentstatus,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.mgrlogonid FROM cmp_employeeinfo_rms
LEFT OUTER JOIN employeeinfo
ON cmp_employeeinfo_rms.logonid = employeeinfo.logonid
where (cmp_employeeinfo_rms.mgrlogonid != employeeinfo.mgrlogonid or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.lastname != employeeinfo.lastname or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.locationname != employeeinfo.locationname or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.termdate != employeeinfo.termdate or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.persontype != employeeinfo.persontype or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.jobclass != employeeinfo.jobclass or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.assignmentstatus != employeeinfo.assignmentstatus))
UNION
(SELECT employeeinfo.logonid,employeeinfo.firstname,employeeinfo.lastname,employeeinfo.emailaddr,employeeinfo.Locationname,employeeinfo.termdate,employeeinfo.persontype,employeeinfo.jobclass,employeeinfo.assignmentstatus,employeeinfo.mgrlogonid FROM employeeinfo JOIN cmp_employeeinfo_rms on cmp_employeeinfo_rms.logonid=employeeinfo.logonid)
The output to the above query is.

I wish to extract any such change with the field changed. After recording the change i would update the second table as well.

Hi,
I just need a report of what the changes are.As another poster has suggested above, you may want to have a look at using a materialized view log instead of your approach. The MV log approach is better as it
a) is maintained by database
b) is easy to setup
c) is easy to maintain
d) is easy to query.
Following is a demo of how you can use it.

  • Extract the "bind" variables for a given query running in 10g.

    how can we extract the "bind" variables for a given query running in 10g? The performance of a query may vary based on the parameters supplied to it. For example, a query like the following
    SELECT * FROM CUSTOMER_ORDERS WHERE CUSTOMER = :CUST_ID
    .might run differently when the :CUST_ID is "123" who may have very few orders versus "456" who may have tens of thousands of orders.
    So, if we see a spike in the system due to a query, we need visibility into what the exact query syntax and values are for any database session. We're aware of an Oracle view called V$SQL_BIND_CAPTURE, but what we're finding with this view is that it's only a snapshot of variables that are refreshed on an interval. That view does not give us a live view into what values are being used in the various sessions in realtime.
    If someone ould provide us with some SQL (or other means) to do get a realtime view into the SQL and variables currently running in the database, it would be greatly appreciated.

    In addition to what's been said in the other thread, you could add a layer of logging either in the database or out.
    v$sql_bind_capture and the associated ash view dba_hist_sqlbind contain sample data.
    You could up the sample rate but it's not advisable - it's still just a sample.
    If you're on 11g, this is where adaptive cursor sharing might help.
    Not help in finding the values of your binds, but help in using different plans where there is such a skew for different bind values and the plan is perhaps wrong for customer 456.
    The problem when you're got such a skew and you're using bind variables is that the two don't really go together.
    When the query is next parsed and you've got bind variable peeking enabled, you might get the 123 plan is that is the bind value at parse time and then run into problems for 456 or even vice versa.
    See http://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/2009/05/06/philosophy-1/ for a discussion on binds and histograms which reflects the reasons for using either.

  • Resukt:Get number of rows from 3 different table...?

    Hi All,
    I need to find out number of rows from 3 different table for the same conditions. Instead of writing 3 queries, is it possible to get it thru one query?
    For example, i need to find out number of rows in tables where name = 'Ameet' from 3 different table, i will end writing 3 queries.
    1. select count(1) from table_a where name = 'Ameet';
    1. select count(1) from table_b where name = 'Ameet';
    1. select count(1) from table_c where name = 'Ameet';
    Is it possible to write a single query to get result of all above 3 queries?
    result:
    table_a table_b table_c
    34 44 2

    One way:
    SELECT      (SELECT     COUNT(*) AS CNT FROM TABLE_A WHERE name='Ameet') AS TABLE_A
    ,     (SELECT     COUNT(*) AS CNT FROM TABLE_B WHERE name='Ameet') AS TABLE_B
    ,     (SELECT     COUNT(*) AS CNT FROM TABLE_C WHERE name='Ameet') AS TABLE_C
    FROM DUALIf you want the total:
    SELECT     SUM(CNT)
    FROM
         SELECT     COUNT(*) AS CNT FROM TABLE_A WHERE name='Ameet'
         UNION ALL
         SELECT     COUNT(*) FROM TABLE_B WHERE name='Ameet'
         UNION ALL
         SELECT     COUNT(*) FROM TABLE_C WHERE name='Ameet'
    )

    Hi All,
    I have a three table like below. In the below table SAMPLE_CONS_CHECK and SAMPLE_CONS2_CHECK will be having the primary key for NAME column. The same SAMPLE_CONS3_CHECK table also having the primary key for NAME column and forieign key for SAMPLE_CONS_CHECK and SAMPLE_CONS2_CHECK tables. See the below code 2
    code 1:
    CREATE TABLE SAMPLE_CONS_CHECK

    CREATE TABLE SAMPLE_CONS3_CHECK

    alter table SAMPLE_CONS2_CHECK
    add constraint SAMPLE_CONS2_CHECK_pk primary key (NAME)
    alter table SAMPLE_CONS3_CHECK
    add constraint SAMPLE_CONS3_CHECK_pk primary key (NAME)
    ALTER TABLE SAMPLE_CONS3_CHECK ADD
    CONSTRAINT SAMPLE_CONS3_CHECK_FK1 FOREIGN KEY

    ) ON DELETE CASCADE;
    ALTER TABLE SAMPLE_CONS3_CHECK ADD
    CONSTRAINT SAMPLE_CONS3_CHECK_FK2 FOREIGN KEY
         NAME
    ) REFERENCES SAMPLE_CONS2_CHECK
        NAME
    ) ON DELETE CASCADE;From the above schenario i am able to insert the data to SAMPLE_CONS3_CHECK table. But the parent data is already available in the parent table. The problem is here two different constarints from two different tables. While inserting, it is checking from both the tables whether the parent is exist or not.
    How can i solve this problem? Can anyone halp me about this?
    Thanks

    Actually the design is completely incorrect.
    What you say is
    I have
    'foo', 'foo series'
    'foo','foo model'
    'foo',666
    By virtue of table3 referring to both table1 and table2.
    This means you actually need to have 1 (one) table:
    'foo','foo series','foo model', 666
    And the 'problem' disappears.

  • Comparing row values in two different tables

    Hello,
    Does anyone know if it is possible to compare (and possibly highlight - which I know can be done) row values in two different tables?
    I have a ZIP Code column in table A that I want to compare to a ZIP Code column in table B and highlight those ZIP Codes that are present in table B but not in table A etc. Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Kenneth

    To be able to apply conditional formatting, I must edit the formulas this way.
    =IF(ISBLANK(B)," ",IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(B,Tableau 2 :: B,1,0))," ",VLOOKUP(B,Tableau 2 :: B,1,0)))
    =IF(ISBLANK(B)," ",IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(B,Tableau 1 :: B,1,0))," ",VLOOKUP(B,Tableau 1 :: B,1,0)))
    I replaces the four empty strings by strings containing one space character.
    In the field supposed to contain the text which is not contained I just entered a single space character.

  • BAPI to extract from MBEW/MBEWH for a given period

    Hi ABAPpers,
                We have two tables MBEW and MBEWH for Material Valuation. Based on the changes in few fields like VERPR, the record in MBEW will be transferred to MBEWH. Is there any BAPI that helps me to extract the data for a given period of a given fiscal year without asking me to probe from which table we need to fetch data from and which record in MBEWH is valid for that period of that year. Please suggest possible ways to do it.
    Thanks.

    Hi
    Although it's not your question, see SAP Note 193554 - Stock/valuation data of previous periods, I think that it helps you to understand how to understand how to work the history tables.
    I hope this helps you

                   and 0.fac_id = n.fac_id
                   and (ld_brwr != lg_brwr or ld_sic != lg_sic)
    )Hi Experts,
         I've provided sample data where I'm checking for just two columns viz brwr_short_name ,sic_code,but in real time
    I've to check for 8 more columns so please suggest me with a better approach.
    I appreciate your precious suggestions.

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting the CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements; that really helps!
    Here's one wa. Like your 2nd approach, this uses a self-join:
    WITH     got_r_num     AS
         SELECT  ca_id
         ,     ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  ca_id
                                   ,                    fac_id
                             ORDER BY        ca_ver_num
                                 )    AS r_num
         ,     brwr_short_name
         ,     TO_CHAR (sic_code)     AS sic_code
         ,     fac_id
    --     ,     ...     -- Other columns (using TO_CHAR if needed)
         FROM     r_dummy
    ,     unpivoted_data     AS
         SELECT     *
         FROM     got_r_num
         UNPIVOT     INCLUDE NULLS
              (    txt
              FOR  column_name IN ( brwr_short_name          AS 'BRWR_SHORT_NAME'
                            , sic_code               AS 'SIC_CODE'
    --                        , ...     -- Other columns
    SELECT       p.ca_id
    ,       p.fac_id
    ,       p.column_name
    ,       p.txt          AS previous_name
    ,       a.txt          AS after_modification
    FROM       unpivoted_data   p
    JOIN       unpivoted_data   a  ON  p.ca_id     = a.ca_id
                           AND p.fac_id     = a.fac_id
                         AND p.column_name     = a.column_name
                         AND p.r_num      = a.r_num - 1
                         AND p.txt || 'X' != a.txt || 'X'
    ORDER BY  a.r_num
    ;To include other columns, add them in the 2 places where I put the comment "Other columns".
    Ca_ver_num can have any values, not just 2.00 and 3.00.
    This will show cases where a value in one of the columns changed to NULL, or where NULL changed to a value.
    There ought to be a way to do this without a separate sub-query like got_r_num. According to the SQL Language manual, you can put expressions in the UPIVOT ... IN list, but when I tried
    ...     UNPIVOT     INCLUDE NULLS
              (    txt
              FOR  column_name IN ( brwr_short_name          AS 'BRWR_SHORT_NAME'
                                 , TO_CHAR (sic_code)     AS 'SIC_CODE'
              )I got the error "ORA_00917: missing comma" right after TO_CHAR. Perhaps someone else can show how to eliminate one of the sub-queries.

  • How do I copy content from an entire row into a different table?

    How do I copy content from an entire row of one table into a different table?  When I try to copy/paste the selected row into a row of the same size  and configuration in another table in the same document, the cells change width, the formatting and border thicknesses change, and the text gets squeezed.  When I was working with tables in Microsoft Word, there was no problem selecting text from a row in one table and placing it into a similar row and configuration in another table.

    Hi Christopher Morgan
    And welcome to apple discussions. With regard to your main question ....
    Q: Can this be done?
    A: It can but not easily (in that you may take a hit in quality). Apps like MpegStream Clip or DVDXDV may help:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.products.htm
    It converts it back to a QT file for use with iDvd (or iMovie).
    Hope this helps but if not just come on back.

  • Best practice for a same query against 2 different tables

    Hello all,
    I want to extract info about tablespaces storage, both permanent and temporary. For that I use 2 different cursors that do exactly the same query but against a different table (dba_data_files and dba_temp_files).
    CURSOR permanentTBSStorageInfo (tablespaceName VARCHAR2) IS
    SELECT file_name, bytes, autoextensible, maxbytes, increment_by
    FROM dba_data_files
    WHERE tablespace_name = tablespaceName;
    CURSOR temporaryTBSStorageInfo (tablespaceName VARCHAR2) IS
    SELECT file_name, bytes, autoextensible, maxbytes, increment_by
    FROM dba_temp_files
    WHERE tablespace_name = tablespaceName;
    First I'm bothered that I have to use 2 cursors to execute the same query against 2 different tables. Is there no another way around?
    Then I fetch the results of this cursors in 2 different loops because I didn't find a way to dynamically call the cursors. I am looking for best practice here, knowing that I will do the same parsing against the results of the 2 cursors.
    Thank you,

  • How to find difference in amount between two fields in two different tables

    Hi,
    I am new to PL/SQL. I need to write a procedure to calculate the difference between two columns of two seperate tables. For example:
    I have Table a and Table b. Both with two columns Id and Amount. I need to find the difference of Amount between table a and table b value for each record in table b, store it in variable and then do further operations using that difference. Kindly help me with this.

    Something like this?
    INSERT INTO table_c (id, diff, p_or_n)
    SELECT
    a.a_id,
    a.a_value - b.b_value
    DECODE( SIGN(a.a_value - b.b_value),
      1 , 'P',
      0 , 'P',
      -1, 'N'
    FROM table_a a JOIN table_b b
    ON (a.a_id = b.b_id);

  • How can I use create/createInsert for two different tables

    Hi All,
    I am showing different fields in the UI from different tables. I am able to fetch the data from all the tables and able to modify and save the data.
    Now, the problem when I want to create/insert some data into those columns(from different tables) I am facing issues.
    How can I proceed further??

    Hi Shay,
    Thank you very much for your quick response.
    Actually I am totally new in ADF world and I am trying to implement some applications in ADF.
    I created an UI based on some 3 tables(there is foreign key relation between them) and some other tables. I am able to modify and save my application if there is any data in all the tables.
    My Actual issues are
    1) I removed all the data from the tables. There is a submit(CreateInsert) button, what I expected is on click of the button I should see all the fields in editable mode. But I was able to see only few fields and also in readonly mode. So here my issue is how can i create and save these data.
    2) Consider on my landing page I have just CommandLink/CommandButton. After clicking that page I should get the above screen in create mode(I mean to say all fields in editable mode). How can achieve this?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ravi.
