How many tables Exact Contain in Info cube?

Hi Mahesh,
For Basis InfoCubes in SAP BW, there are two fact tables for
including transaction data: The F and the E fact table.
Unlike the E fact table, the F fact table contains the information
about the request from where the transaction data originates
When loading data (when receiving requests), the system writes data
into the F fact table.
During "compression", the system summarizes data from different
requests and writes it to the E fact table.
To ensure good reporting performance, it is important that you only
keep data from a few requests in the F fact table, which means that you
should compress requests as soon as possible.
Also bear in mind that deleting transaction data according to the
request is only possible from the F fact table, as only this table
contains the information regarding which data belongs to which
request.
You should therefore compress a request as soon as you are certain
that the data loaded is correct. When you install BW on an ORACLE database, BITMAP indexes are created on the fact tables to improve the reporting performance of the system

Key figure units in fact tables of InfoCube are blank

I run RSRV - Key figure units in fact tables for my cube and found the following error message. I found one SAP note 941895 - RSRV test fails with unknown error, but our system status is SAPKW70020, so this note is not useful to our case. Pls advise!
System message:
The test Unit of key figures in fact tables for InfoCube XXX initial had to be terminated due to an unknown error (RSRV320).

Hi Raja,
Check that in your transformation you have mapped Unit from source system to this key figure. If not then you will have to do the mapping and reload the data. If you are not able to get unit from source system then atleast you will have to assign some constant Unit if possible.

Dimension ids are 0 in fact table of infocube

Hi ,
We have cube in which we have have dimension A which has two chars stocktype (non masterdata).
and stock category(non masterdata).
When I checked the fact table of the same cube I could see that the DIM ID for A is maintained as 0 for all values.
In this case how does the DIM IDs get linked to the fact table.
Please explain.

DIM ids are combination of SIDs. Please check whether those two InfoObject have "Attribute Only" option checked in InfoObject maintenance.
If that is the case , then there will be no SID table generated for these two InfoObjects and if no SID is there, there can not be any DIM id.
But I was wondering why this if these are Attribute Only then why did system allow you to add them in dimension.
Another possibility, you did not get any data for these two field in this cube , so it did not check SIDs and generated DIM ids.
Do you have value for these two fields in the cube?

The fact table of InfoCube 0OPA_C11 is missing 2 secondary indexes

Hello experts,
in RSRV i got the above mentioned message for my InfoCube 0OPA_C11. Before I tried to delete, repair and build up my indices in performance tab of the InfoCube.
I followed SAP Note '401242 - Problems with InfoCube or aggregate indexes'.
-> SAP_INFOCUBE_INDEXES_REPAIR repaired indexes and show no further problem, but problem still exists, in performance tab light is red and RSRV brings same message.
Does someone have any idea what further I can do?

Peter, refer to note 928037, it's FAQ about MaxDB indexes. I gave it a quick reading and I believe the answer to this issue lies beneath this doc! There are ways to check consistency of individual index, bad indexes and ways of eliminating them.
Also, refer to the below blog. Check the status of the secondary index in this case. I suspect they are bad or missing. There are ways to recreate them. Keep your basis guys in the loop.

Key Figure units in Fact Table - Error

All -
When a run a report off of a cube, some row display 0 when there are corresponding values in my cube. The report doesn't agree with LISTCUBE. I have ran transaction RSRV on my cube and tested the "Key figure units in fact tables of Infocube" and I get an error saying that 1380 units are missing from fact table.
<b>Diagnosis
In the fact table /BIC/FEU_FRCTS records have been found that contain values other than zero for key figures that have units, but that have no value for the unit of the key figure. Since the value of the unit has to correspond to the value of the key figure, this inidicates an error when the data was loaded. The values of the units have not been loaded into BW correctly. Choose Details to display the incorrect records.</b>
Does anyone know what this error means? How do I solve this problem?

hi Nyrvole,
as the message said, you have keyfigures with unit but the unit value not filled, click 'detail' as suggested to check which keyfigure(s) involved, that go to rsd2 type in that keyfigure and see which infoobject unit is used, then check transfer/update rules how this unit infoobject mapped, try correct the values and upload again.
there is option 'repair' in rsrv but think in this case it can't fix the error, just try.

Problem Facing while analyzing Dim/Fact Table % using RSRV

Hi All,
When we analyzing the infocube in RSRV to see percentage of Dimension tables, system is showing 0% for all the dimensions and also for Fact tables.
But data is existing in fact table of infocube and also in dimensions tables, when we see in SE11.we also executed report SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS in SE38, in their also we are not able to find any entry for particular infocube.Please advice on this ASAP.

Hi,
Check whethere the statistics for the cube is run. If not refresh the stats ans then chk in RSRV or in SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS you will get the ratio betwene ur dim and fact table

Fact Table and the InfoCube

Hi All,
When I search for Inventory quantity in an InfoCube, it is giving me all zero values. I had verified and found correct values in the Fact Table for that InfoCube. The Update Rules applied is a direct InfoObject to InfoObject mapping(Source Key Figure). But I am getting all zero values for Inventory quantity in the InfoCube. Why???

Fact table contains only KeyFigures and foreign keys of dim ids.
Infocube conatin fact table sorrounded by dimension tables.dimension table contain primary keys of dim ids and SIDs which link to master data.

Ratio between Fact table and Dimention table for a Infocube

How can we reduce the Ratio between Fact table and Dimention table for a Infocube below 20%.??

The Ratios are dependent on the Fact Table, and the Dimension table that is modeled for your Cube.
You cannot change ratio individually, but can set the Line Item Dimension , provided you have only one char object is taking much space and bulky with much percentage, based on your requirement. You can always use fine tuning objects.
Please be more specific while posting, to get right help from sdn.

Problems with Fact Table in an Infocube

In IC 0CCA_C11 we've seen almost a 50% increase in the row count on the F fact table from about 100 million rows to about 150 million rows. However we are very certain that we really havent had that much growth.
We have a process chain that does a full load of 12 million rows to the cube and then deletes the previous full load. Because this PC is conflicting with a more important PC that loads to the cube, we've been cancelling the step in the PC and manually deleting the previous request out of the cube via the IC "Manage" screen.
Is it possible that what we've been doing has been leaving rows in the cube that we thought were deleted?
If so, is there an Analysis and Repair function in RSRV that will get rid of all these extra rows?
There's no way this cube could have truly grown by 50 million rows in 2 weeks!

Check the data in RSA3 for the extractor that you use to bring data .
You must be using the data source 0CO_OM_CCA_09. Check the data and reconcile and you will get it.

No Message: Write to Fact table.

Target: BI 7.3
We are Transferring 2LIS_13_VDITM Datasource---->> 0SD_CO3 Infocube .
After Data Replication ,
1. Data Transferred to PSA .
2. During Transformation Creation Manuel Mapping is performed . Activated .
3. During DTP Creation Only Following Warning Messages Occur , Status s not Transferred to Green .
Data is not coming Cube , No Error Messages. (Totally 29000 Records have to transfer to BI Cube)
Warning Messages are,
1.No Message: Write to Fact table.
2.No Message:Infocube Update Completed .

Fields BWGEO, BWGEOO, BWGVP, BWGVO, BWNETWR, BWMNG, etc. of DataSources 2LIS_02_SCL, 2LIS_02_ITM, 2LIS_03_BF, 2LIS_03_UM, 2LIS_40_REVAL are not filled.
This may lead to the following:
The system does not perform any update into an InfoCube (for example: 0RT_C*, 0PUR_C01, 0CP_PURC1 and so on), even though data arrives in BW.
This occurs with the following InfoSources:
2LIS_02_SCL, 2LIS_02_ITM
2LIS_03_BF, 2LIS_03_UM
2LIS_40_REVAL
With some restriction, this symptom also occurs with the following InfoSources if they are used in connection with retail or consumer products. (InfoCube: 0RT_* or 0CP_* ).

Reason and Prerequisites
The process key (0PROCESSKEY and 0BWAPPLNM) of the InfoSources has not been filled. As a result, no key figures are updated because of the update routine of the participating InfoCube and along with it no records are inserted into the InfoCube. In each update routine, the system checks the content of the PROCESSKEY. If this field has no contents, then no data is written into the InfoCube because of the IF condition in the update rules.
Solution
So that you can work in the above mentioned InfoSources, you MUST activate the determination of the process key. This is done with the help of Transaction MCB_ which you can find in the OLTP IMG for BW (Transaction SBIW) in your attached R/3 source system.
Here you can choose your industry sector. 'Standard' and 'Consumer products' are for R/3 standard customers, whereas 'Retail' is intended for customers with R/3 Retail only.
You can display the characteristics of the process key (R/3 field BWVORG, BW field 0PROCESSKEY) by using Transaction MCB0.
If you have already set up historical data (for example for testing purposes) by using the setup transactions (Statistical Setup Programs) (for example: Purchasing: Tx OLI3BW, material movements: OLI1BW) into the provided setup tables (for example: MC02M_0SCLSETUP, MC03BF0SETUP), you unfortunately have to delete this data (Tx LBWG). After you have chosen the industry sector by using MCB_, perform the setup again, so that the system fills a valid transaction key for each data record generated. Then load this data into your connected BW by using 'Full update' or 'Initialization of the delta process'. Check, whether the system updates data into the involved InfoCubes now.
If all this is not successful, please see Note 315880, and set the application indicator 'BW' to active using Transaction 'BF11'.

Fact Table index vs BIA Index

BIA gurus..
Prior to our BIA implementation we had the drop and rebuild index process variants in our process chains.
Now after the BIA implementation we have the BIA index roll-up process variant included in the process chain.
Is it still required to have the drop and rebuilt index process variants during data load ?
Do the infocube fact table indexes ever get hit after the BIA implementation ?

I think you still need the delete/create Index variants as it not only helps in query performance but also speeds up the load to your cubes.
Documentation in Perfomance tab:
"Indices can be deleted before the load process and after the loading is finished be recreated. This accelerates the data loading. However, simultaneous read processes to a cube are negatively influenced: they slow down dramatically. Therefore, this method should only be used if no read processes take place during the data loading."

Can't load data to cubes - same error for all DTPs "exception in substep write to fact table"

Hi Experts,
This initial DTP error is:
Data package processing terminated Message no. RSBK229
Error while updating to target <cubename> (type INFOCUBE) Message no. RSBK241
If I drill down to the specific package in the process monitor the error is: "exception in substep write to fact table" .
No more details for why the error is being generated.
SAP BW 307 service pack 8.
I have run the debugger without success, an ABAPer also ran debug mode to get more details on the error without success
We checked teh termination point and the ABAP stack
No error stack is available
No short dumps
I have reactivated the DTP
The data looks fine
The server crashed the day before the DTPs started to fail
One cube is standard content and the other is a Z version of the same cube.
Please let me know if anyone has resolved this issue before and what steps were necessary.

We have got the similar situation and we later found that it was a data issue only.
We tried to enable the error stack, but as the data issue was due to a lookup which is bringing the invalid data, its not captured in the error stack and throwing short dump with the message u mentioned.
so my suggestion, just put a break point if there are any lookups and check the data in internal tables if everything is as expected.

Regarding Dimension Table and Fact table

I am having basic doubts regarding the star schema.
Let me explain first regarding star schema.
Fact table containes Key fiigures and Dim IDs,Ok,
These DIm ids will be connected to my dimension tables.The Dimension table contains Characterstics and these Dim ids ,Ok.
Then My basic doubt
1.How does DIm id will be linked to SID tables
2.If I have not maintained any master data or text or Heirachies then SID tables will it be generated or not?
3.If it is generated I think there is use of This SID now..as we have not maintained Master data.
4.I am haing 18 characterstic which are no way related to each other in that scnerio how does Dimensions have to identified.?or we need to inclued whole chracterstics in one dimensions or we need to create seprate dimesnions for each of them..?(max is 13 dimensions)
5.If Dimension table contains dim ids and characterstics then where does the values for characterstics will be stored...?
( for ex..sales rep is characterstics for this we will be giving values some names where does these values will be stored..)

Fact Table and Dimension Tables

Hi Experts, I'm creating custom InfoCubes for data coming from non-SAP source systems. I have two InfoCubes. Tha data is coming from like 10 tables. I have 10 DataSources created fo this and the data will be consolidated in Standard DSO before it will flow into 2 InfoCubes.
Now client wants to know before how much data will be there in InfoCubes in Fact table nad Dimension tables in both the InfoCubes. I have the total size of all the 10 tables from the sources given to me by the DBA. I wan not sure how I can convert that info for Fact table and Dimension table as I have not yet created these Infocubes.
Please help me with this on how I should address this.

The exact data will be hard to give however you can reach at a round figure in your case.
You are consolidating the data from the tables that means that there is relation between the tables. Arrive at a rough figure based on the relation and the activity you are performing while consolidating the data of the tables.
For example, let us say we want to combine data for sales order and deliveries in a DSO.
Let Sales order has 1000 records and Delivery has 2000 records. Both the tables have a common link (Sales Order).In DSO you are combining the data that means the data will be at the most granular level consist of Delivery data, so the maximum no of records which the consolidated DSO can have is 2000.
