Fail to search Oracle Application Server while installing EM Grid Control

Fail to search Oracle Application Server while installing EM Grid Control 10.2.0.2 on Windows XP. All the steps are successful except the last step failed.
I uninstalled the previous Oracle 10g database using the stops of the following link:
http://krsethur.wordpress.com/2006/06/13/uninstalling-oracle-10g-manually-from-windows-xp/
Now I install EM Grid Control with a new database.
I don't have any MetaLink account now.

  • Oracle Application server goes sluggish on starting Control Services

    Hi Guys,
I am facing a unique problem.
All services in INFRA and AS are running fine.
But the moment I start "OracleORA_ASASControl" and "OracleORA_InfraASControl" services, application server goes sluggish all processes seems to halt.
Even "Application Web Server for Forms" doesnt respond.
And when I stop these services then rest of all services perform as usual.
Is it happening because of some log getting filled or some cache getting filled?
    Note : Application server - 10g
    Can anyone help in this?
    Thanks!
    Av.

You have Infrastructure and middle tier is running in the same box. please consider the below steps.
Because middle tiers depend on OracleAS Infrastructure services, you need to ensure that the OracleAS Infrastructure services are started first, followed by middle-tier services. You can do this in the following ways:
1.Give the OracleAS Infrastructure an Oracle home name that alphabetically comes before the middle-tier name. (When you restart a computer, Windows typically starts up services in alphabetical order.) For example: name the OracleAS Infrastructure "Infra", and name the middle tier "J2EE".
2.Edit the registry (using the Registry Editor) to delay the start of the middle-tier services by setting up dependencies between the OracleAS Infrastructure and middle-tier services. You do this after installing both OracleAS Infrastructure and middle tier. See Section 16.6, "Service Dependencies" for details.

Can you ensure that your listener is servicing the already existing database.

  • Oracle application server 10.1.3.1.0 install - JAVA error

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to Install Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 on 32 bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.8 (Tikanga)
When running the Installer, I use the -ignoreSysPrereqs option because 10.1.3.1.0 is only supported with Linux Server 4, I believe. But I know people have installed it on Linux 5.7 and 5.8
anyways, Oracle application server gets installed and asks me to run root.sh. I run root.sh and then hit the OK button to proceed,
At this point, it tries to run the configuration assistant and fails right away with the following error:

  • How to find characterSet of Oracle Application Server

How can I find out the character set that was installed when Oracle Application Server was installed?

    - Refer to the OAS Globalization Support Document.
Oracle® Application Server Globalization Support Guide
    10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    B14004-02
    - Read with care these sections:
6.1 Installing Oracle Application Server for Global Deployment
    - Also note that
"The NLS_LANG parameter controls the locale of the runtime environment on which OPMN runs. It should correspond to the default locale of the middle-tier runtime environment, which is the default locale of the operating system. The same NLS_LANG parameter is inherited by the OPMN managed processes, such as Oracle HTTP Server and OC4J, unless it is explicitly specified with a different value in opmn.xml.
For Microsoft Windows platforms, the pre-configured NLS_LANG is automatically registered in the Win32 registry as the NLS_LANG registry key at \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOMEn. The NLS_LANG value in this registry key controls the locale of the runtime environment on which OPMN and its managed processes run. "
    - Also note that the NLS_LANG parameter values will have different requirements for a monolingual and multilingual application architectures.
    - to find the character set of infrastructure db or metadata repository, you may use the db method to find the character set installed.
    SELECT * FROM nls_database_parameters WHERE parameter = 'NLS_CHARACTERSET'
    hope that helps!

  • How Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server linked to each other

    Hi ,
Please let me know what is the relation between a Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server ?
In my application The Oracle Application Server is installed in C drive and there is a Stand alone oC4j .
Please tell me how they are linked to each other .
    Thank you .

It depends on your need and what features and functionality of Oracle Application Server you are interested in. Note that OC4J is a component of Oracle Application Server that can run as a standalone component or within Oracle Application Server. Question #6 in earlier mentioned FAQ document states:
OC4J standalone is J2EE 1.3 compatible (1.4 and 1.5 too in later releases of OC4J) and is able to be used in both development and small scale production environments. OC4J standalone provides its own inbuilt HTTP/S listener to allow clients to execute Web applications that it has deployed. Application deployment and server configuration of OC4J standalone is performed by the manual editing of a simple set of XML files.
For large scale enterprise deployments, the Oracle Application Server product is likely to be more suitable with its comprehensive feature set including Oracle HTTP Server, process monitoring and management capabilities, and its configuration and management console.
So if you are happy with what you see in standalone OC4J and scalability isn't an issue for you, you can stay with standalone OC4J and don't need to move to Oracle Application Server.
PS: If you do decide to use OC4J that's embedded with Oracle Application Server, you can't move your standalone OC4J inside Oracle Application Server. You will have to reconfigure embedded OC4J again (as you might have done with standalone OC4J) and redeploy your applications.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Adding Oracle Application Server to JDeveloper

    Hii,
I want to add Oracle Application Server 10.1.2g to my Application Server list in JDeveloper 10.1.3g.
I am stuck in the point where it asks for the "Remote Server's Oracle Home Directory".
Whenever I supply with the path e.g. "D:\OraHome_1", or "\\node1\OraHome_1", it says "Invalid Directory".
The Oracle Application Server is installed in a different computer in the network.
Actually, I would like to add it to my JDeveloper, so that, I can deploy my applications directly through JDeveloper, without having to use the Oracle application Server Enterprise Manager console.
    Please help...

Log into Oracle Application Server Enterprise Manager and get the correct path from the information of the instance you're intending deploying to (eg. home). You have write the directory path as it is displayed (even UPPER and lower case is important).

    hi,
First check the log files why http is not starting up thro opmnctl cmd.
In order to change the port..
Take the back up of Original httpd.conf file and opmn.xml
    and then in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf file
you will get parameter "port" and "listen"..so enter the desired port no

  • Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.0.0 OPMN Configuration Assistant Fails Due

I'm in the process of installing Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1 on RHEL.
This is where I'm stuck at: having trouble starting OPMN.
While looking up Metalink, I found Doc ID:ID 422562.1 close to solving my issue. However I'm not sure how to use the solution.
    Here's the solution:
    1. Install the 32-bit version of glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.19.i686.rpm.
Where can I download this file and any steps to install it would be great?
Note: To install 32-bit packages on a 64-bit system, you may need to use the force option and the nodeps option of the rpm utility.
    2. The glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.19.i686.rpm installs the crt1.o into /usr/lib; confirm that this file now exists:
    cd /usr/lib
    ls -l crt1.o
    3. Deinstall this failed installation.
Do I have to deinstall the entire EBS install or just the Oracle AS 10.1.3?
    4. Remove contents of /tmp and /var/tmp.
    5. Reinstall Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.0.0
How can I reinstall just the Oracle AS 10.1.3?
    Please help.

I kindly advice you to move this thread to "Application Server" section of this forum...

A little more details on what you are trying to do will help.
Which versions of JDev/OC4J? which technologies? did you install the ADF Runtime on the server?

  • Why did I fail to configure ODBC cartridge of Oracle Application Server 3.0.1 Advance

Firstly, sorry that I don't know if this question is suit for this forum.
Now I want to query oracle8 database through ODBC cartridge of OWAS. My software environment is: Oracle Application Server 3.0.1 Advanced Version, Oracle8 Enterprise Edition 8.0.4. They are installed in a winNT server.
First I installed oracle8 ODBC on this server and configure it successfully(that means I can query Oracle8 through ODBC). Then I configured ODBC cartridge in application server administration. In this process, I don't configure ODBCCartridge specific parameters because I don't known which parameter need to be configured. Last I restart WRB, LISTENER(Admin). I input the URL in Navigator 4.o as the following: Http://tpdcserver.tpdc:8888/odbc/tableprint?database=oracle8&dsn=oracle_data&username=system&password=manager&sql=select+fromALL_USERS
It displayed no correct page but error information: OWB-02002 Driver Failed.
I don't know why. Please tell me. Thank you very much!

    I have the same problem!
    How can i resolve?
    Thanks

  • Install Oracle Application server 10g and Oracle database 10g on same box

    Hi Experts!
i need to install Oracle database and oracle application server on the same machine(windows xp).
when i install both of them and reboot the machine either oracle database or oracle application server fails...
i suspect that the problem might be due to two - ORACLE_HOME
let me know how i can resolve this issue.
Note: Oracle DB and OAS OPMN process run as a windows service.
    after restart opmn fails
    Many thanks in advance

Jacco, in spite of your ace :-) this time I cannot
    completely agree with you:
I hope sincerely that this ace thing doesn't "scare" anyone from challengeing me. I can't know everything, even though this ace sign suggests it.
    - things like ORACLE_HOME are also set in the system
environment settings. This may lead to conflicts; It does, therefore you should set them with the service (I figured the installer of Oracle would actually do that for you, but I hardly ever work with Windows)
    - the database and AS have different versions of the
RSFs. The most recent AS version is using 10.1.0.5
RSFs, where the database uses 10.2.x. This leads to
    conflicts.
    - Port conflicts are common in the ONS area, however
this should not prevent startup and should not be
very likely at this point since all products use the
same inventory and it should have been checked for
ports that are in use.ons port conflics shouldn't precent startup, but other port conflicts can.

With the total of our posts the problem should be
resolved anyway ;)Exactly, as long as the reader has the proper knowledge to understand them ;)
(this feels like a post just to make sure that you know I respect your opinions and advices)
