FDM 11.1.2.3 issue (32 or 64 Bit Oracle Client) ?

Hi All,
               I have installed FDM 11.1.2.3 under Windows 2008 server using Oracle 11g Database. Its configuration was sucessfull, but I'm not getting create an app and having "connection database" errors. In a previous version (11.1.2.2.) was stated that FDM should use 32-bit Oracle client installed. But at 11.1.2.3 documentation I did not found anything related to this and installed it using 64-Bit Oracle Client.
              Does someone could tell me if FDM 11.1.2.3 requires 32-bit Oracle client installed ?
Thanks

It does still use the 32 bit Oracle CLient.
You would need to test the connection with a 32 bit UDL file (.udl32) and use the following command to test:
1. Create a file to test the 32-bit OLE DB Provider. (Create a new empty file in a easily accessible location with the extension UDL32) a. Launch a command prompt. b. Start notepad and pass in the name of the new file. c:\>start notepad c:\testconn.udl32 c. When prompted to create the file, choose yes then close notepad. 2. Test the 32-bit OLE DB data source using the new file and the following command. a. Launch a command prompt. b. Execute the following command.    c:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Rundll32.exe "c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\Ole DB\oledb32.dll",OpenDSLFile c:\testconn.udl32 - Note, make sure the command line is something appropriate for your Windows Installation. d. Click the Provider Tab, select OLEDB provider you're trying to test (Ie, Oracle Provider for OLE DB) - Note, ODBC connections can also be tested by selecting Microsoft OLEDB Provider for ODBC Drivers. e. Click the Connection Tab. Enter a valid connect string for Data Source. Enter a valid user and password for
he database. f. Click the Test Connection button.

  • Performance issue with Crystal when upgrading Oracle to 11g

    Dear,
    I am facing performance issue in crystal report and oracle 11g as below:
    In ther report server, I have created a ODBC for connect to another Oracle 11g server. also in report server I have created and published a folder to content all of my crystal report. These report can connect to oracle 11g server via ODBC.
    and I have a tomcat server to run my application in my application I refer to report folder in report server.
    This way can work with SQL server and oracle 9 or 10g but it facing performance issue in oracle 11g.
    please let me know the root cause.
    Notes: report server, tomcate server are win 32bit, but oracle is in win 64bit, and i have upgraded DataDirect connect ODBC version 6.1 but the issue can not resolve.
    Please help me to solve it.
    Thanks so much,
    Anh

    Hi Anh,
    Use a third party ODBC test tool now. SQL Plus will be using the Native Oracle client so you can't compare performance.
    Download our old tool called SQLCON: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252882008E/sqlcon32.zip
    Connect and then click on the SQL tab and paste in the SQL from the report and time that test.
    I believe the issue is because the Oracle client is 64 bit, you should install the 32 bit Oracle Client. If using the 64 bit client then the client must thunk ( convert 64 bit data to 32 bit data format ) which is going to take more time.
    If you can use OLE DB or using the Oracle Server driver ( native driver ) should be faster. ODBC puts another layer on top of the Oracle client so it too takes time to communicate between the layers.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Oracle Client 11g R2 sequencing issue with App-V 5.0

    Hi All,
    Can anyone help on a issue that I face while I try to create the ODBC connection after I have published the sequenced application. I get the error message as shown :
    Have already tried sequencing by creating the Dummy ODBC user DSN and system DSN on the base machine  before sequencing and have added the TNSNames.ora path as an environment variable.
    Thank in advance for your help!Installation of 32 bit and 64 bit 11.2.0.1 Oracle client on windows 7

    Akanksha,
    If your application is 64-bit, you need only 64-bit Oracle client software which installs 64-bit ODBC.
    There is no need to install 32-bit Oracle client.
    I am suspecting that some of the required components are missing from your installation.
    1)Are you able to connect to the Database using the the sql*plus ?
    (You need to open the sql*plus session from the machine where ODBC application is running)
    2) Try to run the application as administrator user and see whether it helps.
    3)What is the type of client installation which you performed ? (Administrator/Runtime/Custom)
    If it is custom type, might be you are missing some components.
    Try to install as Administrator and see whether it helps.

    Ravi

    Hi,
    I am trying to install Oracle Client software 11gR2 on RHEL v5.4 64-bit. I have resolved all the libraries dependency as well as Kernel changes as suggested by the installer. The error in the log file is as attached. At present I have "skipped" this error and proceeded with installation.
    While installing the client, the installer fails while configuring the Net CA with error:

    Hi,
    Thet NetCA error occurs during installation and I believe the installer should take care of the ORACLE_HOME variable setting.
    But before invoking sqlplus I have set the ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting in the .bash_profile as mentioned in the installation guide. The snippet of the profile file is:
    export ORACLE_HOME=~/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/client_1
    export JAVA_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME/jdk
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH;
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export TNS_ADMIN=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    export TWO_TASK=mmcoedb
    I am able to tnsping to the server/service name too but when I try to login using the user/password using sqlplus, it simply exits without any error.
    Please let me know how to resolve the error.
    Best regards,
    Vinay

  • 64 bit oracle direver issue in SQLBindCol?

    I have an issue with SQLBindCol when I connect to oracle though 64 bit 11gr1 oracle odbc driver.
    SQLINTEGER nKey;
    SQLLEN nInd = 0;
    status = SQLBindCol(stmt, 1, SQL_C_SLONG, &nKey, 0, &nInd);
    status = SQLFetch(stmt);
    after call SQLFetch, I always get Run-Time Check Failure #2 - Stack around the variable 'nKey' was corrupted
    I also noticed the return value of nInd is 8, but it should be 4. If I change the SQLINTEGER nKey to __int64 nKey, the error go away.
    Why Oracle Odbc Driver required 8 byte for SQL_C_SLONG, and other odbc driver work fine(MSSQL, Sybase)? Is there a bug in Oracle odbc driver, or 64 bit oracle odbc dirver not follow the ODBC specification?
    Thanks

    You don't need reference on x64 version. You can add reference on x86 version. If you would like to run project from VS then you need x86 version Oracle Client because VS is x86 application.
    Both ODAC DLL (x86 and x64) has same signature. If you build project with "any cpu" option then right version ODP.NET is used at the runtime.

  • Issues with different versions of Oracle.DataAccess.dll

    I have a .net web service application which references version 10.2.0.100 of Oracle.DataAccess.dll. A client has setup Oracle 10g database on the server, but I think the server has a patch set installed so it appears that the versions of Oracle.DataAccess.dll in my web service and on the database server do not match. When I issue a query via the web service on my local machine using my oracle 10g client, the web method returns the correct data. If I issue the same query using the same .net web service on the clients database server, I get the following error: Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected. There's nothing wrong with the query syntax, I can run the same query from SQL Plus on the database server and get the correct data. Could it be a compatibility issue between the Oracle.DataAccess.dll referenced in my web service application and the file on the sever. I'm not sure what else to look for, any advice is greatly appreciate, and I can answer any questions if needed.
    Thanks,
    NA

    I would not expect an ORA-923 if your the Oracle client was not installed properly. I would expect an exception or a crash.
    You can run an ODP.NET trace to find out what query is getting the ORA-923 by doing the following:
    1) Shutdown web server on the machine that runs the webservice (middle tier),
    2) In windows registry, on the machine that runs the webservice (middle tier), change registry value \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\ODP.NET\4.112.1.1\TraceLevel to 1
    3) Reproduce the ORA-923 only
    4) shutdown webserver
    5) Undo the registry value (set it back to 0)
    6) In the generated file (c:\odpnet2.0.trc) do a search for "923", hopefully you can find it. Just before that error, you should see the SQL that was executed. This will obviously not be what you expect and will hopefully point you to the cause of the problem.

  • Issue inserting UTF8 data into Oracle in windows environment.

    I have a UTF8 PHP application that is writing a string containing special characters to oracle through a ODBC connection. The Oracle database is setup for UTF8 support.
    Here is the issue. I have a simple string, "louis de funès". When the data manually moved correctly in UTF8 the data comes up correctly. The Oracle dump() shows:
    WORKING DATA:
    String: louis de funès
    select keywords, dump(keywords, 17) from ame_links where keywords like '%louis de %';
    Typ=1 Len=15: l,o,u,i,s, ,d,e, ,f,u,n,c3,a8,s
    However, when the same string is Inserted through the PHP application the data shows up in the db like this.
    NOT - WORKING:
    String: louis de funès
    select keywords, dump(keywords, 17) from ame_links where keywords like '%louis de %';
    Typ=1 Len=17: l,o,u,i,s, ,d,e, ,f,u,n,c3,83,c2,a8,
    (The è character has 4 bytes associated with it)
    Windows Setup:
    Windows Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> ORACLE -> HOME0 ->
    NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
    HTTP headers are set for Content-Type:text/html; charset=UTF-8.
    Anyone know why I would get 2 extra bytes (83,c2) added in the middle of the è character? Is the oracle client doing some other type of character set conversion before I insert it into the database.
    I have also noticed that when I change the NLS_LANG from AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252 that the 4 byte 'è' character works and the 2 byte character doesn't.

    I reproduced the porblem. Only differnce from yours is that it reproduces regardless the NLS_LANG setting.
    Although I cannot be 100% sure, I think what is happening is that Microsoft ODBC Driver Manager converts the insert statement from Windows ACP to Unicode, then calls SQLExecDirectW (WideChar version of SQLExecDirect) of the Oracle ODBC Driver and passes the insert statement in Unicode. Since your PHP code passed the insert statement in UTF-8 encoding, and the Driver Manager converted it from Windows ACP to Unicode, the letter e with grave ("c3,a8" in UTF-8) was wrongly converted to U+00c3, U+00a8 in the Unicode insert statement, then converted to UTF8 ( "c3,83,c2,a8") by Oracle.
    By looking at the PHP source code, apparently PHP odbc_exec() function calls ANSI SQLExecDirect().
    I tried to verify that the Driver Manager calls SQLExecDirectW() of Oracle ODBC Driver by enabling the ODBC Tracing, but I couldn't make it work. It genetates an emply SQL.LOG file. So my investigation stops here.
    IF YOUR METADATA NAMES ARE ASCII ONLY, AND NON-ASCII CHARACTERS APPEAR ONLY IN DATA, you can workaround this problem by binding data. For example,
    $stmt = odbc_prepare($conn, "insert into AME_LINKS (keywords, site_id) values (?, ?)");
    $rs = odbc_execute($stmt, array($invar,77));

    10.2.0.1 is not supported/certified on Win 2008, so expect issues with the install and/or with using the software.
    Why cannot you use a supported version - minimum is 10.2.0.4, which is only available to customers with an Extended Support contract

  • Any compatibility issues for Oracle Client 10.2.0.4.0 and Snow Leopard?

    Now that Snow Leopard is out and in fact in my hands, are there any known compatibility issues relative to the Oracle client software that is available from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10204macsoft.html
    Thanks.
    BTW, it might be worthwhile to know about the following web site:
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
    and for someone from Oracle to post an appropriate listing there as that site is becoming known as a central resource for such queries.
    Marc

    Guys,
    I appreciate all of your replies, but:
    1. Just to be clear, I am talking about running the CLIENT (SQL*Plus) on Snow Leopard, which will connect to Oracle 11g, which is running on RHEL 5. I don't care in the least as to whether or not Oracle 11g will run on Snow Leopard. Today, I run the CLIENT on Leopard from the CLI and can connect to 11g on RHEL 5 just fine. I use the Actual Technologies ODBC driver (http://www.actualtechnologies.com/product_oracle.php) for queries in other applications and I have a similar query regarding Snow Leopard compatibility into them.
    2. @damorgan: Are you telling me that the client software that I can download from Oracle here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10204macsoft.html
    was written by Oracle and certified by Apple to run on Leopard (10.5)? I am curious, because today, it was Microsoft and not Apple that put forth the statement that Office 2008 is fine on Snow Leopard:
    http://www.officeformac.com/blog/Ready-for-Snow-Leopard
    Are you suggesting, as a parallel, that Apple did the certification of Office 2008 for Snow Leopard, not Microsoft? Or that Apple and not Cisco, will certify that Cisco's VPN client will work on Snow Leopard?
    Thanks,
    Marc

    I ran into the issue of the 32-bit file not being recognized in LR 5.6 after it has been saved in PS.
