FDQM varValues

I have not found any good documentation on the varValues and so I'm not sure which one I need to use, or what the exact syntax should be.
I want to create a rule which will load account balances to a different entity than the one specified in the file. For instance...
If varValue(I don't know which one to select) = "account string plus wild card characters" then
Result = "[new entity destination which is different from the one specified in the file]"
Else
Result = "[load to the entity specified in the file]"
End if
Can anyone offer any direction or help? Thanks.

Different maps for every month in FDQM for a single location/Entity

Hi,
Is it possible to have different account maps for each and every month in FDQM for a single entity/location.
The requirement is,client needs to change accounts map each and every month,for eg; if in Jan ,account 1 is mapped to X, in feb same account 1 is mapped to y.
Could any one tell me if this is possible in FDQM,if yes..how can we maintain different account maps for each period for one specific entity.

This is possible with the appropriate business process. FDM will apply the current map that exists to the current dataset. It will not retroactively change prior periods unless you specifically reprocess the maps (wither by reimporting data or by selecting Process Logic/Maps) for historical data.
So as a map is updated monthly, the historical data is maintained and the current data uses the "new" map. If for some reason the prior period does need to be reprocessed with the "old" map, you can use the restore function to bring the map back to what it was during that period.

Not been able to export data from FDQM to target system

Hi,
Am not been able to export data from FDQM to my target system which is Hyperion Enterprise 6.4
I have imported, Validated the mapping but as soon as i click on export after creation of the export file the system throws an error as "*Error: Arguments are of the wrong type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one* *another*". Also am pasting the error log down below

Is it possible that the entity that you are loading to in Enterprise is locked? It appears that it may be per the below error. You can only load to unlocked intersections, so I would start by checking the catagory and entity combination for being locked.

Can HFM & FDQM run on Oracle Database 10.2.0.2 based on a 64bit server?

To enhance performances of HFM and FDQM, my customer would like to upgrade the Oracle DB server (10.2.0.2) that runs on Windows Server 2003, from 32Bit to 64Bit, that supports larger number of connections.
The HFM and FDQM are installed on Windows Server 2003 32Bit and will not move to the new 64Bit server so only the Oracle DB will be installed on the new 64Bit server.
Is it possible? Is there any document that explain it?

I am facing another related problem. I have installed HFM 9.3.1.1 along with Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 in Windows server 2003 SP2. When I try to create udl by choosing Oracle Provider for OLE DB, the test connection succeed. but giving unknown error at the time of Application server configuration indicating to apply working udl file.
When I check the HFM installation guide, it tells to download and install the 'Oracle Provider for OLE DB' file from Oracle.com (as per page 21 of the installation doc).But the problem is that the 'Oracle Provider for OLE DB' file is not available for the aforesaid Oracle 10g version.
Can anybody guide me in the aforesaid problem? Please sent the link from where I can get the file for installation purposes.

Validation report failed in FDQM 11

Hello, I'm trying to get validation rules working in FDQM 11 and made settings according to documentation, but during check stage (4th fish) I'm getting error
could not find validation report with id equal to 87
What's wrong with my settings?

It appears you have not completed the installation of the software as outlined in the Installation Guide.
This error occurrs when you did not import the reports XML.
Keep in mind that there are two report XML's depending on your database vendor (Oracle or Microsoft) and only one need to be imported into each FDM Application.

Two things :
#1 - The tables you need to add data to are : tPOVPartition, tStructPartitionHierarchy, tStructPartitionLinks. The first table is the basic location information. The last two tables define the relationship hierarchy of where the locations belong. I would expect that if the Strcut information is missing, FDM will not be able to place it anywhere on the locations screen.
Additionally, for the tPOVPartition, there is required information and you need to make sure you are including all of that info when you create your record.
#2 - If you are handy at coding, I'm positive there is an API call to create a location. It would make more sense perhaps to write a script that uses the APIs to create the locations so that you can be sure that it is being done right.

Reversal of sign for credit accounts in FDQM

I am using FDQM to load data.
The client requires data to be loaded wherein all his Income and Liability accounts are NEGATIVE in the TB and all Asset and Expense accounts are POSITIVE.
Hence the load file will sum total to zero always.
I am not sure if this can be built in FDQM so that it looks at the account, and for accounts of type Income and Liability it reverses the sign.
Can this be done by using FDM scripts?
ANy help on this feature will be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. But i could not understand which screen you are referring to.
If you are referring to "IMPORT FORMAT" screen and column for EXPRESSION, then this will reverse the signs of all accounts.
We allready have the accounts marked as "ASSET/LIABILITY/EXPENSE/REVENUE" in Dimension properties. It is this property that needs to be used.

i want to know is there any way that FDQM can validate the source records against essbase. say for example i have a a ud dimension member coming from the source i want to compare this member with essbase member in the outline and pass/fail the validation. can we do this?

Are you processing through the web client or as a batch process?
If you are loading manually through the web then it is standard functionality to highlight any source metadata imported that does not get mapped to a target, you then get the opportunity to correct those members at the Validate stage. If you are setting up mapping tables with specific target members then these have to be valid members in the Essbase outline (although I guess there is a risk that those members change over time and do you mappings stay in sync), it also doesn't do that validation if you upload your maps from template files (.xls / .tra / .trn) or if you have a * to * like mapping.
If you are processing in batch then if there are any members that do not have a vliad target member after import (remember mapping is applied during the import stage) then the batch fails. You can use the AutoMapCorrect feature to overcome this and map to a default 'suspense' type member if that gives you an issue.
Ultimately if you get to the load stage and the combination of members is not valid then FDM produces a load error file, this will contain all of the records exported from FDM that have failed to load to Essbase. What this doesn't easily give you is the source metadata that makes up those failed records.
Can you provide any more info as to your current process and then we might be able to provide a few more pointers.

How to create users in/for FDQM mapping maintenace

Client wants to know that is it possible to create users in/for FDQM with different rights. Like for example the admin user will be overall responsible for mapping maintenace and data load but they also want to make a user just for mapping maintenace and it should not have the right to load data. Is this possible and if yes then how?

User maintenance is simply used for assigning location access for users, shared services determines the role to user has i.e. Admistrator or Intermediate 1-9 etc. If you take a look at object maintenance you will see that you can make all the FDM objects listed there only available for certain roles by default most of these are set to All Intermediate or Administartor. What I would do is create a more targetted obect security model and then through the allocation of the appropriate Intermediate roles you should be able to achieve the functionality your client is requesting

FDQM export to Planning fails

I can launch FDQM export in replace mode without any error but if I check Planning cells, no data appears...
Checking out essbase application log I found the following:

When looking for the data are you looking for data at the base level intersections you have loaded in from FDM or at a more summary calculated level? You can only be gaurenteed to see data at the input data points post the FDM load. Only if you run the appropriate post load aggregation in Essbase will you see data at the calculated levels.
If you want better data load performance then use a load rule to load the data at the FDM Export step, it is the optimal method to load data to Essbase and provides better error handling/logging than the native load.

Updating mapping of cost centre dimension in fdqm

The dimension cost center in our actual data source system (oracle r12) has been restructured from 8-digit to 6-digit due to which we have to change the mapping in fdqm. Is there any particular way in which we can create a mapping in fdqm by which the oracle 6-digit cost center is mapped to Hyperion's 8-digit without changing the original mapping.

Your mapping in FDM would need to be updated to map to the new HFM Target 6-Digit Codes.

At is simplest ODI is an enterprise scale ELT tool that can cope with moving very large amounts of data bwteen heteregeneous systems. It requires a fair degree of technical knowledge to use well and that the user is pretty competent with SQL. It is not really an end user tool and the jobs tend to be lights out scheduled processes with a limited user interface for executing these jobs. FDQM is more of a data quaility tool which gives the average end user the out of the box functionality to be able to transform and load data into various target systems. It is not designed to move very large amounts of data efficiently i.e. multi millions of lines of data like ODI. However it does have a rich user interface that provides an easy to use mapping engine, a repeatbale controlled data load process and has a host of in built reporting and audit features which would have to be built from scratch in a tool like ODI

Second, please open a new thread when you have questions. FDQM Target Dimension - connection failed

Hi, I am getting started to FDQM and I am trying to prepare the new environment so I started with the workbench and finished these steps:-
1) Imported the Essbase adapter (ES11XG4-J) to the application then registered it successfully.
2) Edited the two environment variables "ESSBASEPATH" and "PATH" with the right variables specified in oracle docs.
3) Opened the configurations of the Adapter from the workbench and submitted this settings:-
a) Source and Target Machines.
b) Application name, Essbase DB Name
The issue now is that when I view the mapped dimensions at the "Dimensions" tab, It always gives me a 'connection failed" error beside the "Target Dimension" label so I can't complete my work to map the dimensions.
I checked the error log also, and found that the error existing now saying "Essbase AP Procedure: [EsbSetActive] Threw code: 1051032-1051032", I searched for this error in the forum here but the solutions offered not working with me!

we need to update, ARBORPATH and ESSBASEPATH first, then in the PATH add as shown in the below link(If it is 64 bit machine)

Make sure, you have installed Essbase Client in the FDM Machine.
Once the Environmental Variables changes done, restart the Server then try again.
