AIS (Audit Information Systems) and Process controls
Dear Experts
Have you seen any customer using AIS (Audit Information Systems) and Process controls, simultaneously for Audit purposes? Can we use the GRC Process Controls for Scheduling regular Audits, inaddition to the Internal Control Assessments?
Thanks & Regards
SwarnaHi Swarna,
Have you seen any customer using AIS (Audit Information Systems) and Process controls, simultaneously for Audit purposes?
Yes. AIS is purely in SAP users and authorizations, and PC can be used at different levels.
Can we use the GRC Process Controls for Scheduling regular Audits, inaddition to the Internal Control Assessments?
The data from the PC is used in the ICAs. So PC itself can't/may not provide all the information that is required by the auditors.

How to test PL/SQL procedures and functions?
What are the proven ways to test pl/sql procedures and functions? Specifically, procedures and functions that take cursor variables as IN OUT parameter, OR procedure and functions that takes an array as IN parameter?
Thx.HI,
One way could by using PL/SQL Develper tool, see Tools/Test Manager...
Also there are others tools, see [Cleaning Up PL/SQL Practices|http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/04-mar/o24tech_plsql.html] and specifically oUnit
Regards,
PS: Your question is very general, could you provide an specific example you are trying?

Executing function inside a procedure
I have a function like fun_a(a varchar) which returns a number
I execute the function in sql prompt by select fun_a('hello') from dual;
Now i have to execute that function inside a procedure and return the output of the function to a variable like the following
create or replace procedure x is
a number;
vsql varchar2(255);
i varchar2(40):='hello';
begin
vsql :='select fun_a('||i||') from dual';
execute immediate VSQL INTO a;
dbms_output.put_line(a);
end;
I am not getting the output . Please help me in thisOr even:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE x
IS
vsql VARCHAR2(255);
i VARCHAR2(40) := 'EMP';
i1 VARCHAR2(40) := 'EMPNO';
a NUMBER := primary_check_fun(i, i1);
BEGIN
dbms_output.put_line(a);
END;or just for fun,
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE x
IS
vsql VARCHAR2(255);
i VARCHAR2(40) := 'EMP';
i1 VARCHAR2(40) := 'EMPNO';
BEGIN
dbms_output.put_line(primary_check_fun(i, i1));
END;
Well if we're going to extremes Will we could look at it and say that the parameters are pre-defined and just have...
exec dbms_output.put_line(primary_check_fun('EMP','EMPNO'));

Urgent: Guided Procedure VS Process Integration
Dear Guru,
I am researching on concept of Guided Procedure and Process Integration. However, I have few questions about those. What is Guided Procedures? What is/are the differences with Process Integration (PI)? In which scenario, PI and GP can be applied for? Thank you very much. Reward point will be given.
Best Regards,
Mr.NOPhi

Audit Procedure and Function Execution
Hello,
Does anyone know if Data Vault is capable of auditing procedure and function execution?
Regards,
HugoData Vault is a vault ... it does not perform auditing.
Audit Vault, the title of this forum, is a vault that stores audit trail information ... it is not an auditing creation tool.
If you want to audit procedure and function execution tell of your version and specifically what metrics you want for your audit trail.

Tuning a procedure and using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions
Hi
I have Procedure that have 3 curosrs which are nested one below with in each other
and it looks as below
it's structure will look some thing look like this
declare
empno_fetch number;
CURSOR deu_process IS
SELECT empno
FROM emp
WHERE flg_process = 'N'
AND ROWNUM <= 5000
ORDER BY empno;
CURSOR dup_all IS --c1 fetch around 400000 records
(select empno
from emp
where empno>l_empno
order by empno
where rownum<=empno_fetch;
CURSOR rules IS --c2
SELECT rule_id, rule_score, name_Of_func
FROM rule;
begin
l_count := 1;
OPEN dedupe_rule_attr;
LOOP
BEGIN
Here one loop is used for fetching 5000 records at time and
Here deu_process cursor is opened ,assume it fetches one record
Here another cursor dup_all is used for fetching the records and assume it fetched 400000 then
Here another cursor is opened name where it fetches 10 rows
Here logic is if first row then
call's stored function which has following functionalty
it compares fields such as address of outer most cursor i.e deu_process with all the address of the other rows i.e 400000 rows and return a number
if second row then
call's another stored function which has
compares other fields such as first name,last name
if third then other field
so on ....
up to 10
and then finally ends
so if i comment all the rules loop then it takes only one min to execute .If it validaes all of them if takes 14 minutes to execute .so there is problem in that 10 procedures to execute
So i found an approach to run all the rules simultaneously using dbms_job .But i face a problem that i can't uderstand how to send the input and out put parameter's to calling procedure.And these parameter's must be passed by variable from called procedure to calling procedure
Please suggest me what is the syntax of dbms_job with input and output parameters with variable's that must be passed as formal parameter's
Regarding DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT I am getting following error
Declare
x number:=1;
b number;
jobnumber number;
BEGIN
DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT(JOB => jobnumber,
WHAT => 'vamsi_proc1('||x||');',
NEXT_DATE => (sysdate+1/(86400)),
INTERVAL => null);
--dbms_output.put_line('value of b is '||b);
COMMIT;
END;

begin

--a:=2;

end;
using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions which returns out and in parameters to calling procedure environment .I can't get this with out using data base table's.
If you have any method for this Plese suggest
And also please suggest me weather using job's is a good idea ,If not than suggest me what ever will the other approach.
Thank's and Regard's
vamsi krishnaHi <br>
I have looked at all sql trace file ,<br>
I found that there is no problem in sql statemens all of them are using proper <br>indexes execpt the folllowing statement<br>
<br>
SELECT nvl(COUNT(ref_appln_no),0)<br>
FROM ci_cust_dedupe_mast<br>
WHERE flg_mnt_status='A'<br>
<br>
This statement executes only once for 1*3,77000*10 times <br>
The function that i had sent previously executes more than 4000000*20 times .<br>
I think all it takes is only for iterations that are caused<br>
<br>
I am also sending sql trace for reference

Use of Procedure and Functions in ADF BC
Hi,
In ADF 11g
1. can I use oracle function and procedures ( having in and OUT parameters) to expose as service interface
2. if yes , How can this be done. and what are the allowed data types as input to procedure/function and can be returned by procedure/function
3. How the transaction control will be achieved using ADF BC service interface.
E.g. one ADF BC creates orders in order details and second creates Order lines in Order lines table. Now if order is created successfully but line creation fails then I want order to be rolled back also.
Thanks.google it out.
How to get two out param which is used in Procedure

Are the Pl/sql procedure and function atomic by themself
i want to ask a question does oracle pl/sql procedure and function support Atomicity for the database by themself , or they became atomic incase we call them using begin -- end;
You appear to be discussing transaction scope which is completely independent of PL/SQL blocks like procedures or how you call procedures. It's all in where commits (or rollbacks) are issued.
If you have a procedure like this
CREATE PROCEDURE p1
AS
BEGIN
INSERT INTO some_table( key, value ) VALUES( 1, 'Foo' );
INSERT INTO some_table( key, value ) VALUES( 1, 'Bar' );
END;where the first statement succeeds and the second statement fails as a result of a duplicate key, there will still be a Foo row in the table but the procedure will have thrown an exception. The caller of the procedure may choose to commit or rollback the change-- that will determine whether the first statement's results are made permanent. If you have a procedure like this,
CREATE PROCEDURE p1
AS
BEGIN
INSERT INTO some_table( key, value ) VALUES( 1, 'Foo' );
commit;
INSERT INTO some_table( key, value ) VALUES( 1, 'Bar' );
END;the commit will make the first insert permanent regardless of whether the second statement fails no matter what the calling code does (that's one reason that putting commits in stored procedures is generally a bad idea-- the caller is in a much better position to know what other uncommitted work has been done and whether it is safe to commit.

You can always shut it down manually via the Task Manager
(CtrlShiftEsc)...

Procedure and Functions from ADF View Layer
Hi,
Before i ask my question ,I would like to mention that I have done lot of googling on this topic before asking this question.
http://adfhowto.blogspot.in/2010/11/call-db-procedure-or-function-from-adf.html
http://adf-tools.blogspot.ca/2010/03/adf-plsql-procedure-or-function-call.html
Lot of threads on otn forum too on this topic.
I m pretty new to ADf too.
Now most of our logic is in procedures and functions ,so on various events on form(view layer) I need to call procedure and function and then return values back to value layer too.
Now the approach mentioned in the link above is good whats best approach to return out parameters to view layer considering i will be using either the DbCall class for all calls to procedures and functions
I am thinking of this approach to Create a view with static fields,and in Model layer set values for these fields and access them in view layer or binding view controls to these fields.
From View layer i will call the methods in AppmodImpl which will be calling procedure( methods will be exposed as Client Interface)
Also in few articles i came across generic CallStoredProcedure and CallStoredFunctions.
But my main concern is how to share out parameters with view layer....can anyone give link of showing application of it on view layer.
Regards,From your subject. am stating that, dont do all those stuff in backing bean. backing bean is 1:1 mapping with your .jpsx or .jsff .
best approach would be call those things your Application Module(model layer) exposed it. access the method over your pagedef. well said by ram. -
How can I compile all functions, procedures and packages with a script?
I need to compile all functions, procedures and packages of 5 schemas (users) with a script.
How can I do it?
Thanks!you can create a script to select all invalid objects in those schemas Since Oracle 8 introduced NDS this approach has struck me as a trifle old fashioned. It's much simpler to loop round the query in PL/SQL and use EXECUTE IMMEDIATE to fire off the DDL statements. No scripts, no muss, no fuss.
Having said that, the problem with this approach and also with using DBMS_UTILITY.COMPILE_SCHEMA is that they do not compile all the invalid objects in dependency order. This may result in programs being invalidated by the subsequent compilation of dependencies. This is due to the introduction of Java into the database.
The UTLRP script is much better, because it (usually) avoids cyclic references. But you still may need to run it more than once.
In general it is better to avoid sledgehammer recompilations (like DBMS_UTILITY.COMPILE_SCHEMA, which starts by invalidating all the objects). If we have twenty invalid objects, nineteen of which are dependencies of the twentieth, we actually only need to recompile the master object, as recompiling it will trigger the recompilation of all the others.

How can I use the procedures and functions in my library
hello, all
I have a pl/sql library MYLIB.pld, MYLIB.pll and MYLIB.plx.
How can I invoke procedures and functions there in JDeveloper?
Thanks.
DamonI am indeed using ADF BC to re-develop the oracle application.
Here is my situation:
We have an oracle form application.
Our objective is to try to re-use the existing sources in the form application as much as possible:
1. tons of procedures and functions in a pl/sql library(a file with extension name portfolioLib.pll or portfolioLib.plx);
2. tons of form-level triggers, data-block triggers and item-triggers;
3. tons of database stored procedures and triggers;
After doing a research on JDeveloper, we decide to use ADF Swing+ADF BC to re-develop the application.
My opinion for the above three kinds of sources in our form application is:
for 1: we try to move most of procedures and functions into database(except Form build-in);
for 2: we try to wrap those triggers in a SQLJ class;
for 3: we try to call database procedures and functions with PreparedStatment or CallableStatement;
I just do a test on a post-query trigger on a data-block:
I created a sqlj file, named testSQLJ.sqlj in the test.view package;
I tried to call it in createInstanceFromResultSet of testDeptVOImpl.java which is test.model package,
I was told that testSQLJ cannot be found there. why?
How can I call some classes from test.view package in some classes of test.model?
I read some documents about how to deal with post-query trigger in JDeveloper: create a view with SQL statement, but it seems that it does not support pl/sql statement there.
Can you give me some opinion about the above stuff?
I really appreciate your help.
Damon
