  • ORA-22288: file or LOB operation FILEOPEN failed (The data is invalid)

    Dear All,
    I am trying to insert a image file (gif) to one of my field.
    1. Here is my table structure and trying to insert gif image file to PIC file.
    SQL> desc cis2.david_pic
    Name Null? Type
    ID VARCHAR2(5)
    PIC BLOB
    2. I using sql command to create directory and the path is pointing where the DB
    server was installed.
    SQL> create or replace directory MY_FILES as '\\hkqaa-db1\TEXT_IMPORT';
    3. Written a script to insert empty blob first and than trying to use the dbms_lob.fileopen
    to upload the gif file.
    SQL> declare
    2 l_blob blob;
    3 l_bfile bfile;
    4 begin
    5 insert into cis2.david_pic values ( '1', empty_blob())
    6 returning pic into l_blob;
    7 l_bfile := bfilename('MY_FILES', 'bess_signature.gif');
    8 dbms_lob.fileopen(l_bfile);
    9 dbms_lob.loadfromfile(l_blob, l_bfile, dbms_lob.getlength(l_bfile));
    10 dbms_lob.fileclose(l_bfile);
    11 end;
    12 /
    4. After I ran my script I got this error message.
    declare
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-22288: file or LOB operation FILEOPEN failed
    The data is invalid.
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOB", line 475
    ORA-06512: at line 8
    Can any tell me what wrong? is this the way to insert image?
    Thanks

    Know this is an old post: (for sharing sake.)
    Please try avoiding
    1. the 'hyphen' in between the path (hkqaadb1 instead of hkqaa-db1)
    2. Give direct path like 'C:\TEXT_IMPORT' instead of network path.
    create or replace directory MY_FILES as '\\hkqaa-db1\TEXT_IMPORT'; -- Not working.
    create or replace directory MY_FILES as 'C:\hkqaadb1\TEXT_IMPORT'; -- Working.
    and this worked fine.

    Help required with Photoshop Elements 4.0 this has been installed on my new Toshiba laptop with windows 8.1 for some 18 months and operating well. What is the size of your hard disk?  PSE 4 is a very old program and I suspect it is not able to access the entire hard disk on your machine.  Just a thought here.

  • Renaming files with invalid characters in their names on NTFS partitions, introduced by operating systems other than Windows

    Essentially, Linux created some files with colons (:) in the name on a NTFS partition where I have Windows installed. I have since uninstalled Linux, but now I can only view these files in Windows Explorer. I can't open them, I can't even rename them to
    correct the problem. It's as if they don't exist, because of the invalid search paths.
    If I try to rename them in Windows Explorer I get following message.
    The file name you specified is no valid or too long.
    Specify a different file name.
    Well isnt' that something?... isn't that nice? Windows is able to display these files, but it doesn't allow me to open them and it certainly doesn't like me to rename them. So why is it whining about it then, when I'm trying to help? It says "try a different
    file name". Yeah, right! Like I haven't tried that one already! It doesn't matter what file name I input it will never accept it.
    So what am I supposed to do now? Ditch Windows and go back to Linux? Surely, Microsoft doesn't like the sound of that. Sure, I could reinstall Linux or run a Linux live system to correct the problem. But what good is Windows then? I might as well switch to
    Linux altogether.
    After doing some research I now know by fact that it's (kind of) possible to rename files from UNIX and UNIX-like operating systems to those compliant with Windows by using something called file name character translation. To some level this is essential and
    necessary for Windows interoperability with other operating systems (Windows is not the only operating system in the world). But this seems to be very complicated and I can't get my head around it. My brain is in overload. I don't know where to start.

    There's the Windows Services for UNIX (SFU) 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5. The first two versions were based on MKS Toolkit, a package licensed by Microsoft from MKS Inc. The later versions were based on the similar Interix product, after Microsoft purchased the company
    that made it.
    Then there's the new Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA). These are services for UNIX components. They are supposed to have Client for NFS v3 included as well. But the server components from the SFU line is missing (e.g. Server for NFS). These are included
    in Server editions of Windows.
    Then there's the Microsoft Knowledge Base article
    289627: "How to Enable File Name Character Translation". This article seems to describe exactly my situation.
    Windows and UNIX operating systems have restrictions on valid characters that can be used in a file name. The list of illegal characters for each operating system, however, is different. For example, a UNIX file name can use a colon (:), but a Windows
    file name cannot use a colon (:). If a UNIX user attempts to create a file with a Windows illegal character on a Windows Services for UNIX network file system (NFS) share, the attempt is unsuccessful and the UNIX client computer receives an input or output
    error.
    It goes further than that. At first glance, this KB article also seems to offer a solution to this exact problem, with examples as shown below.
    For example, the following maps the UNIX colon (:) to a Windows dash (-):
    0x3a : 0x2d ; replace client : with - on server
    I checked these values in charmap.exe and they are correct. Except for 2D not being a "dash", it's rather a hyphen ("hyphen minus" to be exact), but these two have pretty much the same appearance and they get interchanged a lot, I'm sure
    they are used to it by now. (Yes, the characters! They don't mind.)
    Then there's this registry key.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Server For NFS\CurrentVersion\Mapping
    Well, of course, I don't have Server for NFS. So this is a dead end. Well, actually, it was a dead end from the beginning...
    1. First of all, I'm not working with a network share on a NAS or SAN storage. The files are on the local disk drive where Windows is installed, so that's a DAS for you.
    2. I don't have SFU! Well obviously, I'm on Windows Vista! So that means SUA!
    3. SUA are service components only. No server components. Can you guess what that means? Yeah... no "Server for NFS" since it's a server component.
    4. Windows Vista is a client side operating system! Server for NFS is only offered for use with Windows Server systems.
    5. Back to square one!
    So there you have it. They all lived happy for the rest of their lives...
    I'm stuck here. Can someone tell me what to do? I mean beyond the obvious option to use Linux to fixa a Windows problem? The NTFS file system itself supports colons in file names. It's Windows that doesn't, and so by default it proclaims it invalid character.
    Surely, even a Windows client operating system like Windows Vista should be able to allow the user to at least rename files with invalid characters to something more sensible (from the system point of view) and valid, if not being able to open them as they
    are. Just add some crazy voodoo code to it and it will work. If you can make it possible on Windows Server with UNIX user-mode subsystem on NT kernel, then what's stopping you from giving the Windows client system the same benefit?
    So what now? Purchase a Windows Server 2012 R2 license, copy my invalid files to a NAS share with NFS on a UNIX or Linux system, and have a go at the Windows registry and Server for NFS? Yeah... you're right, it's probably a bit over the top...
    On a second thought... I might as well install Linux again. There are countless situations where Linux has helped me solve problems related to, and more often than not caused by Windows.

    I need validation from genius guys like you
    And as long as you rely on being spoon-fed everything, you will never be confident about your result.
    Try the following:
    >change jre versión (donwload from http:www.sun.com) and declare the new JAVA_HOME variable.
    >try calling this code: Locale.setDefault(Locale.ENGLISH);
        before you open a database connection.
    > The NLS_LANG must be unset in the Windows registry (re-named is best).  Look for the NLS_LANG subkey in the registry at \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE, and rename it.
    And where did you find that solution?

  • Received message "attempting to access, invalid address"

    Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0, Windows Vista
    Program opens to homepage, when I click on Edit and Enhance Photos I receive the following message "attempting to access, invalid address". I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled and I still receive the same message. How do you fix this? Thank you

    Those are definitely the symptoms of the licensing problem. I suggest printing out the instructions and installing the licensing patch again:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3750
    Installation Instructions
    After downloading a ".zip" file, use the operating system or a utility such as WinZip or PKZIP to access the file's contents.
    1. Download the attachment.
    2. Unzip/uncompress the file to a folder on the system.
    3. Make sure Acrobat is not running. If the system has any Adobe Creative Suite® 3/4 applications installed, make sure they are not running.
    4. Click the Vista Start button, enter "taskmgr" in the Start Search field and press Enter.
    5. Click on the Processes tab, then click the button "Show processes from all users".
    6. If the FNPLicensingservice process is running, click on it, then click the "End Process" button and confirm that the process should stopped.
    7. Exit Task Manager.
    8. Right-click the InstAS.exe file and select "Run as administrator." The Command prompt window should appear and display "Trying to install anchor service."
    9. Upon completion, reboot the system and launch.
    Let me know your comments.

  • DataTable Exception: Invalid operation for the current cursor position

    I have a JSF application that lists rows from a view in a SQL Server database. I have set up a commandLinks in an extra columns.
    The data is displayed properly, but when I select one of the commandLinks I get the "Invalid operation for the current cursor position" exception.

    Hi,
    Looks like some inconsistency in the jsp source:
    in the 2nd link the url property is set. I don't think
    you need to set this.
    I couldn't tell what action you want to occur when you
    click. If you want some action to occur such as
    navigating to another page then you can use Page Navigation. Then you would need an action handler
    for the LinkAction component.
    <h:commandLink action="#{Domains.editDomain}" binding="#{Domains.linkAction2}" id="linkAction2">
    <h:graphicImage binding="#{Domains.image2}" id="image2" title="Edit" value="resources/images/edit.gif"/>
    </h:commandLink>
    <h:commandLink binding="#{Domains.linkAction3}" id="linkAction3">
    <h:graphicImage binding="#{Domains.image3}" id="image3" title="View" url="resources/images/view.gif" value="resources/images/view.gif"/>
    </h:commandLink>
    <h:commandLink binding="#{Domains.linkAction4}" id="linkAction4">
    <h:graphicImage binding="#{Domains.image4}" id="image4" title="Delete" value="resources/images/delete.gif"/>
    </h:commandLink>

  • Getting ORA-22288: file or LOB operation FILEOPEN failed in Windows XP

    Hi All,
    I am getting the error message
    ORA-22288: file or LOB operation FILEOPEN failed
    when I attempt to call a stored procedure containing the following code.
    bfile_in := BFILENAME( 'SP_IMPORT_NIF20_DIR', v_filename );
    /* Open the input file */
    DBMS_LOB.FILEOPEN(bfile_in);
    It works fine on UNIX but fails when running on my Windows XP Pro Oracle 9i install. I suspect that it has something do to with the file permissions. I can get this same error on UNIX if the file permissions are not set correctly. I get it every time on Windows XP Pro even though I think that the file permissions are
    set correctly. Perhaps the Windows XP Pro permissions are not as I think! or perhaps the Oracle instance needs to be granted access to the XP directories etc. I am not sure how this would be done.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

    You have EXPLORER set to "Use Simple File Sharing". Uncheck that option for the folders and you will get the security tab.
    I am not sure why you can't run Oracle as a specific user. I do this all the time. In fact, I create an Oracle group and add a user called Oracle and then configure that user/group for all the permissions it needs (and none it doesn't), environment set up, etc. and then run the service as that user. Can you get a specific error message?
    As a side note, I am clueless why Oracle doesn't do this for you. They do on Unix installs.

    I can understand why they have done this, although agree it is not a good idea.
    Apple has made accessing the applications harder than need be, by nesting them inside the iWork folder. Without the manuals.
    The User Guide says nothing about the need to leave the iWork components in the iWork '09 folder.
    Is it difficult to understand that we don't buy three separate applications but one package?
    The soluce of three apps in one package may have several reasons:
    (1) developping Keynote then Pages then Numbers was more efficient in terms of cost than developping them as a single app.
    (2) keeping them as separated items gives the ability to load an item smaller than a treeinone app so it requires less time and use less memory.
    (3)…
    If users are too numerous to break the 'rule', I'm afraid that Apple decide to pack the three apps in a single item so the problem would be definitely solved.
    If someone want to have direct access to iWork components from the Applications menu, the correct soluce is to create aliases of thes apps and store these aliases in the Applications folder. Neat, simple and free of the described oddities.
    as in the +Open With+ in File information,
    The operating system apply a default setting for the "Open with" feature.
    There is a problem for those which want an other setting.
    But, as every user has its own needs, there will always be necessary to make individual choices.
    Which app must open a .doc file ?
    For me it's a moveit_to_thetrash tool
    for some users, it's Word
    for some, it's openOffice
    for some, it's neoOffice
    for some, it's Bean
    for some, it's Pages
    for some, it's TextEdit
    and I know users having all of them installed.
    Automatic link between a kind of doc and an app is an inaccessible dream.
    The user action is required.
    and the +Keyboard Shortcuts+ preferences.
    The decision to apply this or that shortcut to a menu item is part of the design task. I think that it's the designer which must define them, not the user. You don't change the commands of your motorcar, I don't understand why you would change those of an application.
    If you don't like the application GUI, use an other app.

  • BI 4.0 Installation - bootstrap file is invalid

    Hello,
    I did a fresh installation of a BI 4.0 server on a linux x86_64server. There are no errors during the installation. If I try to access the CMC (http://<myserver>:8080/BOE/CMC) I get this error:
    Error: Server <myserver> not found or server may be down (FWM 01003) null
    The following message was written in the latest log files (/*/sap_bobj/logging/):
    Server Intelligence Agent has failed to initialize because the bootstrap file is invalid. Please restore your bootstrap file from your backup.
    Any ideas?
    Thank

    I try a new installation. During the setup there is an error in phase "WaitForCMSForTheFirstTime" at 96%.

  • Hooking file access via a driver

    Hi all,
    I would like to write a driver in such a way that all file access to a media containing a ufs file system goes via my driver.. ie in the NT scenario its a filter driver... how do i do this in solaris 7.. can i write a driver which is just above the disk driver and catch all the i/o operations like read / write....
    gurus any idea how to proceed about this... any help is really appreciated...
    thanks
    azad

    This maybe possible to build a virtual driver which sits to map
    into the actual solaris disk driver layer (sd driver). Start with bp_mapin()
    manpage and DDW (Solaris Device Driver Writing) manual (http://docs.sun.com) and get more info on the bp_mapin() usage.
    Hope this helps.
