File Chooser not returning full path

I have a jsp page with a file chooser on it. Whenever a file is choosen and the form is submitted, it says "file not found". I figured out this was because the file chooser is not returning the full path name of the file, just the name itself. I'm calling it with this line.
<td><input type="file" name="certFile" size="20" value="<%=certFile%>"><td/>
It's weird because this line used to return the correct file name it's preceding path in this very same file. Does anyone know how to force it to get the full path, or why this used to work and now it dosn't. Was there posibly a default change for this in java?

And is your server handling this "upload" by taking the file name from the request and using a java.io.File object to open that file? That's only a viable solution if the server and the client are the same computer, a rather pointless configuration.

You cannot preset input values for input type="file" elements. It's prohibited by HTML specification. It's namely a security hole.
Imagine that one developed a webpage with input type="file" pointing to c:/passwords.txt and added window.onload=form.submit(), what would happen if one opened such a webpage?
That said, get rid of scriptlets and step over to taglibs/EL. This is 2009, not 1999.

How are you getting the full path of the file when you browse, I dont think for security reasons the Flash Player will aloow to do so. You can only get the file name not the full path of the file when you browse.
Are you using Flex4..?? I am not sure whether this is possible in Flex4..However if you are getting full path and if you wanted to show only the filename then you can just use theString class split function to acehive this..

Files do not return to LR from Ps after edit.

Hi. Am using Lightroom CC 5.3 64bit . Send files to Photoshop CC, edit them hit Ctrl S and they do not return to Lightroom but are saved to my catalogue. This does not happen every time, just most of the time. And there does not seem to be a pattern to it, type of file, etc. Been struggling for days now, getting cross.

Have you tried searching for something like IMG_1234.jpg
Or your regular file name format.

File Chooser that returns array of filenames

I'd like to use File Chooser to create an array of file names to be used for further processing with a FileReader. Ideally files could be chosen individually, or by using a Control or Shift select as in the Windows environment. Is this possible, and if so, how?

In CS3, when I'm in code view, why can't I see the full path
for my sources?
I'm coming from Go Live 5 (old, I know), wherein the
Inspector would show the full source path, which I could copy and
paste into other apps.

File Dialog can return incorrect path when selecting Windows special folders

I found an interesting bug when writing an application today. Basically the File Dialog express VI can return the wrong path if selecting special folders in some circumstances. This bug seems especially tough to track down, but I think I managed to figure it out. Steps to reproduce using LabVIEW 8.6.1 on Windows XP:
Use LabVIEW's File > Open... command to open any VI that is not located directly on your desktop. You MUST use the File > Open... command as this will set the working directory for the dialog box.
Close the VI (all we cared about was ensuring the working directory was set).
Create a new VI.
Place the File Dialog express VI onto the diagram (Programming > File I/O > Advanced File Functions > File Dialog).
Configure the express VI to select a folder and an existing item, leave the selection enabled to limit to a single item.
Create an indicator to show the returned path from the dialog.
Run the VI. Navigate to either your Desktop via the large button on the left, or the pull down menu up top.
Click the "Current Folder" button.
Observe how the VI returns whatever the original location of the dialog box was, not the desktop directory.
I have not confirmed this bug on other operating systems but following the steps above reproduces it on my system.

This is a very unusual problem you are having. I tried it on another PC in the office and it did not show the problem you are experiencing. Are you able to replicate this every time, or only occasionally? Are you able to see this on other computers? Do you see this same problem using other software on the computer? Do you have the most recent updates from Microsoft? Perhaps the answer to these questions can help shed some light on the problem at hand.

Issue with UTL FILE, does not read directory path

I have created a procedure using a UTL_File, but when I execute that procedure, it comes with an invalid directory path.

I have edited the r_bmw to varchar (32757 BYTE);
however, the same errors still appear. Would I need to change the select statement to a different table...and not dca additional data?

Oracle SQL Developer - File, Open , File Name Not Accept UNC Path Form

In Oracle SQL Developer, at least the File, Open (Dialog's), the File Name (if not all File / Directory Name) Text Box(es) is (are) not accepting, at least for me, the UNC Path Form of Folders on Network Servers. The same UNC Path (or UNC Paths in general) works in the File / Directory Name Text Box of every other Windows App I've tried (from Windows 95 to Windows 7). Is there a way to do this? If not, was it intentional and where can I suggest this as a fix / enhancement?
I'm using Windows XP w/ SP3.

DUH! I figured out what happened. In my first search, I searched (using "Actions", "Filter", "Column" option) for "Title Contains 'UNC'" which didn't find anything because the single-quotes were considered literals (which isn't consistent with the "Row" option or with the technical SQL syntax one would expect given technical operators like "!=", pffft, "!="??? Really???). Then, all subsequent searches returned nothing, because all previous searches are combined with implied "And" Operators until you select "Actions", "Reset" (which isn't consistent with any Web / Desktop App search feature I've ever seen). Don't get me wrong. The latter is a great feature. It just needs to be documented better.
It probably wouldn't hurt to: a) include easily visible tips on whether single / double quotes are needed and b) show an "And" Operator in front of each previous search listed so people won't mistake it for simply a Search Criteria History vs. Current Search Criteria, oh and add a heading that labels it as, oh, IDK, "Current Search Criteria", maybe? IDK, call me crazy (or just another stupid user posing as a developer with 16 years experience ;).

.dng files do not open full size in PS CC

I've been working with Canon .CR2 files and later Adobe .dng files for years, and could always open them in Photoshop. Now, with PS CC, the files open as small previews (420 x 280 px) instead of the full size. This means I cannot work with my photographs!!!! I haven't found a setting in either Bridge or PS to correct this.

I open pic files by either double-clicking on them in Bridge or on the desktop, or using "Open" from within PS. iPhoto is not involved at all. It's not something funny I'm doing; it's a bug in PS CC (I've been using PS since 1990).

File Chooser--not JFileChooser, but WIndows style

I once saw in a Java program a file opener that didn't use the less-than-perfect JFileChooser, but rather the standard Windows file opener. Anyone know how to do this, what it was?

Error 8 occurred at Open File (will not accept a path constant)

I am trying to have my vi automatically create files with out having a dialog box pop up to ask if it is okay to save the file, but get this error when I wire a constant to the path. I have tried all the suggestions posted. If I leave the File Path unwired the file is written (after the prompt).
I have permission to write files
The advisory dialogue input is wired False on the open/create/replace file.vi

Error message 'Could not save to path /Users/yogasail/Documents/' appeared and cannot save files?

I have an iMac 21.5 running OS X 10.9.4:Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5:Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. I have suddenly got this message every time I try to save a file -'Could not save to path /Users/yogasail/Documents/Emma/xxxx.rtf. Choose a different path.' Unable to save anything now?? Can anybody help?

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
