File content conversion Document offset not working?
hi All,
I have a flat file which i need to convert into an xml using content conversion.
The document consists of 18 lines as shown below:-
#HEADER_ARCDLX3098 OMD.I.170 0000000000000002#HEADERFECHADOC A 8
HEADER A 25
CLAMOVIM A 3

MATERIAL A 18
CANTIDAD N 13
UNMEDIDA A 3
FLAGDEIMPRESION A 1

CHOFERPATENTE A 50

the first 17 lines are to be ignored. And only the 18th line to be taken.
The 18th line however, contains multiple records based on fixed field length.
For example the above example contains 3 records - "10521000 12345678 122" , "10521000 12345678 122" and "10521000 12345678 122".
I tried to do a content conversion with document offset. However, it doesnt seem to work. There is no error and the xml is created without ignoring the first 17 lines.
xml.documentOffset
17
this is what is given in the content conversion.
Please help.
thnx,
Ninu
Hi,
Under Document Offset parameter, specify the number of lines(in ur case its 17) that are to be ignored at the beginning of the document.
This enables you to skip comment lines or column names during processing.
This should work. check the below link:

File content conversion-Document name
Hi frndz,
i am using the file content conversion to upload the sale order details from flat file to r/3, am using the standard bappi for the same. Here my issue is in Content "conversion parameters" there is a parameter "Document name" usually i fill this with the messge type, but now i have not created any messge type for my scenario, i am just imported the bappi and using the same structure so wat i can give in the "Document name" parameter.
Thanks in advance

File Content Conversion Problem of not generating empty file
Hi All,
i have 3 input text files for my BPM to process.
if any of the text file is empty, i need to generate an alert message that the file is empty........but the problem is file adapter does not generate a XML message for the empty text file..........
<b>Can anybody suggest how to generate the alert if any of the 3 text files is empty.</b>
Thanks,
Rajeev GuptaRajeev~
I dont find ur mail Id in ur Business card.Post the same..I will send you across a PDF with steps to write a adapter module.You would need to extend the same to check the payload for empty data and accordingly create a XML payload with checkpointer.
For validating this value in a BPM use the FORK step and check the payload in the condition editor.
Refer to this url for the same.

Module processor enhancement with file content conversion
Hi All,
I have a bean (module processor) that converts the a PDF doc to text. I need to use the same bean with file content conversion. Module processor processing sequence is as follows:
1) My Bean: localejbs/myBean
2) Default: localejbs/CallSapAdapter (Bean for file content conversion).
When I tried the same (myBean + File adapter with file content conversion) , it was not working as expected. But the same bean works fine with normal file adapter (myBean + File adapter without file content conversion).
Couldn't figure out the reason. Please help.
Regards,
Ajay.As the content conversion of the file adapter is done before calling the customer module, it is not possible to use both.
As workaround you can do the file content conversion with help of the MessageTransformBean. In the module chain you put the MessageTransformBean after your module.
Note that the configuration of the MessageTransformBean has to be done like the J2SE sender file adapter:

File Content Conversion Removes Leading Blank/Space
I'm having a problem where file content conversion is trimming leading blanks/space/whitespace from fields when reading in the inbound file. I've seen where people have posted that you need to use fieldContentFormatting to prevent content conversion from stripping the leading/trailing whitespace. I added that parameter to my list (see below example) but it still appears to be trimming the leading whitespace. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Here are the details:
I'm using fixed length file content conversion for Sender File Adapter (SP15). I have the following parameters set:
Document Name = MaterialData
Recordset name = item
Recordset Structure = MaterialLine, 1
I have:
MaterialLine.fieldNames = matno_external, mat_description
MaterialLine.fieldFixedLengths = 40, 40
MaterialLine.fieldContentFormatting = nothing, nothing
The following is the input file (notice spaces prior to second occurrence of material numbers)
ZED00000001 AIMS LIGHT A
ZED00000001 AIMS LIGHT B
ZED00000002 AIMS SWITCH A
ZED00000002 AIMS SWITCH B
ZED00000003 AIMS SEMICONDUCTOR A
ZED00000003 AIMS SEMICONDUCTOR B
The following is the source XML after file content conversion from SXMB_MONI (note spaces no longer exist in matno_external tag).
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
- <ns:MaterialData xmlns:ns="http://xxxxxxx.com/yyy/test">

</ns:MaterialData>Thanks all for your attempts but I figured it out and wasn't this the biggest case of irony.
Here I was trying to prevent leading spaces from being trimmed in the loading of my file and my problem was that when I typed:
MaterialLine.fieldContentFormatting
I actually left a "blank" at the end of the "g" in Formatting. Apparently XI didn't like that and neither gave me a runtime or compile error. Anyway I found this and though I'd share in case anyone else encounters it. I removed the blank and all is working now. -

File Content Conversion doesn't pull file
Hi all,
I have a Comm Channel using File Content Conversion - it does not pick up the file (no message in msg monitor). If I copy the Comm Channel, turn off File Content Conversion, and change the Sender Agreement to use the copied Comm Channel, the file is picked up and a message appears in the message monitor.
Any ideas? Does File Content Conversion expect certain file names/types/etc...?
Also, side question - when I change the sender agreement (or anything else in the CD), SXI_CACHE shows "Unable to refresh cache contents" with various errors, one of them being "LCR_GET_OWN_BUSINESS_SYSTEM - NO_BUSINESS_SYSTEM"; another said something about IF_HTTP_.. HTTP Communication error or something.
I'll do more searching on this on and post a new topic if necessary...
Thanks,

Upload flat file (Content Conversion Parameters)
Hello,
I am still trying to upload a flat text file to XI. Its a non separator file.
Here the error message from the XI adaper engine:
Sender Adapter v1508 for Party '', Service 'IXI_FileSystem_CSV':
Configured at 15:36:12 2005-08-03
Initialization error: Conversion initialization failed with java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: Error(s) in XML conversion parameters found: <b>

Here all my settings:

Document name: CMA_FILEINPUT1
Document namespace: http://www.xyz/ogsd
Recordset name: RECORD
Recordset structure: CONTROL,1,SEGMENT,*
<b>Key Field Name: SEGMENT.DUMMYKEY</b>
Key Field Type: String (cs) -> default
Fields:
CONTROL.fieldNames:TABNAM,MANDT,DOCNUM,DOCREL,....
CONTROL.fieldFixedLengths:10,3,16,4,2,1,1,...
SEGMENT.fieldNames:DUMMYKEY,DUMMY,LOCATIONID,...
SEGMENT.fieldFixedLengths:12,51,10,18,4,10,
SEGMENT.keyFieldValue:E2BPBULOCM03 (string that occurs in the first field DUMMYKEY of SEGMENT)
The message type looks like this:
CMA_MSGTYP1 1:1
RECORD 1:1
CONTROL 1:1
TABNAM
MANDT...
SEGMENT 0:unbounded
DUMMYKEY
DUMMY
LOCATIONID...
Why do i get that error message? How to fill Key field name correctly? In my opinion i dont need key fields for CONTROL because of the occurence of one.
Any idea?Thanks to all. So "Key Field Name" is just symbolic?
Here are my new settings:
Message protocol: File Content Conversion
Document name: CMA_FILEINPUT1
Document namespace: http://www.xyz.de/ogsd
Recordset name: RECORD
Recordset structure: CONTROL,1,SEGMENT,*
<b>Key Field Name: KF</b>

<b>SEGMENT.keyFieldValue:E2BPBULOCM03 (from DUMMYKEY)
CONTROL.keyFieldValue: HRETZU (from TABNAM) </b>
Both key fields are the first entries in the substructures.
Now this error is coming up:

Issue in File Content Conversion
hi all,
I am getting one Flat file which I need to convert in xml before processing it in mapping. Below is the structure of the input file:-
dkghdgk
gkhdggg
ghdgkhdgk
46ffsfsf
:lgjdgdgg
$dfgxvnlkas
vnmvkvas;vasofjsfasfv
vbvgfpwtndfgdjgdgdfv
vnmvlddg jgkl jklk j l;
jhkg; gj klhjg njkdgggpr83jg
nhldggdgdggfgjhgfj
Number of rows in the file is not constant.
My requirment is to convert in such a way that first 3 rows should be assigned to first three fields and forth field should contain rest all data or in other manner. But first 3 rows must be in three seperate fields, rest all rows can be defined in any way.
Please let me know if it is possible in File content conversion. If not please tell the alternate way.
Thanks
JaiHi Jaideep,
But first 3 rows must be in three separate fields, rest all rows can be defined in any way.
Please let me know if it is possible in File content conversion. If not please tell the alternate way.
Is it fine if you read the flat file line by line and a temporary structure is created which will
have a field say Row under a node DATA,
row will repeat as number of times as there are lines in the input file.
later you can keep first three line as different fields and merge the remaining in a single field.
You may have to create two mappings to map it to the actual structure required .
Please refer this blog(see the screenshots in the blog)
/people/sravya.talanki2/blog/2005/08/16/configuring-generic-sender-file-cc-adapter
My requirment is to convert in such a way that first 3 rows should be
assigned to first three fields and forth field should contain rest all data or in
other manner.
so you can merge the 4 th row and onwards into a single field in the mapping

'nl' Not Working for fieldSeparator in File Content Conversion
I have a receiver communication channel where I want to create a file with each field being a new line. The xml (Message Protocol: File) output looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns0:complus_receiver_messageType xmlns:ns0="http://graybar.com/test/complus_rec
eiver"><cp><myrequest>AAFADFASFADFADSFDASFADFAAA</myrequest><myheader>DELADV</myheader></cp></ns0:complus_receiver_messageType>
When I turn on Message Protocol of File Content Conversion, and follow the SAP documentation on the parameters, the 'nl' is getting sent literally.
- I have Recordset Structure of: cp
- I have content conversion parameters of:
cp.fieldSeparator 'nl'
cp.fieldNames myrequest,myheader
cp.addHeaderLine 0
My file output looks like this:
AAFADFASFADFADSFDASFADFAAA'nl'DELADV0001
Note that the 'nl' is not processing as a new line. Ideas?Hi,
Receiver FileContent conversion params dosen't have <b>fieldNames</b>
cp.fieldNames myrequest,myheader
so why don't u remove this and try once again...
Recordset Structure of: cp
cp.addHeaderLine 0
cp.fieldSeparator 'nl'
Hope this weblog helps you...

File is not creating on the Receiver for File Content Conversion
Hi,
i have created a scenario with this blog
/people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/02/27/content-conversion-the-key-field-problem
for sender side i am using File Content Conversion to read .txt file and on receiver side i need xml file i have done that.
when i placed the file in the sender folder it gets picked up and i checked in Communication Channel monitporing in Runtime WorkBench it is processed Successfully. but no XML File is created on the Receiver side. i am unable to see the messages on SXMB_MONI also.
Please suggest some ideas to solve this.
Thanks,
Giridhar.CHi Giridhar.
unable to see the messages on SXMB_MONI also
If the file got picked and in Communication Channel monitoring RWB you can see that it is processed without any errors ,, then i feel it should come in come.Please check the Audit log in RWB, there you can see the error message if any.
Please check the connection parameters in FTP and make sure that the same sender folder is
not being used by any other scenario.If you have done any recent changes then do a cache refresh .
Please post if you see any error in content conversion.

Thanks a lot for your input.
Actually My requirement is this its file to Multiple idoc scenarios.
Here I am getting flat file HeaderDetails and LinItemdetails. its having Multiple Headerdetail then Line Item Details, I want to create idoc for each HeaderDetail and all the Next LineItemdetails should go to that IDoc. If we can find some solution then it will also work for me.

File Content Conversion -All the input content was not shown in output file
Hi Experts,
In my scenario, I need to send data from .XML file to .txt file, using File Content Conversion at Receiver communication channel. This is File to File scenario.
This is my Input xml file.
<ns:FILEINPUT_MT xmlns:ns="http://File2FileTest">
<RECORD>
<Row>
<FirstName>Susie</FirstName>
<LastName>Tony</LastName>
<City>London</City>
<Country>UK</Country>
</Row>
</RECORD>
</ns:FILEINPUT_MT>
<b>Processing Parameters</b>
Target Directory = C:/Test
File Name Scheme = xi_output.txt
File Construction Mode = Add Time Stamp
File Type = Binary
<b>Content Conversion Parameters</b>
Recordset Structure : RECORD
RECORD.endSeparator = nl
RECORD.fieldSeparator = ;
After Activate and providing the input xml file, xi_output.txt file was generated. But the file content was shown only with Susie i.e. with First Name only. I need xi_output.txt file should have all the four fields (FirstName, LastName, City, Country)
Could some one help me to resolve the issue?
Thanks in advance

Skip field in file content conversion (file adapter)
hy guys,
I have a log file and want to convert it into xml. that works fine.
the problem is: can I skip some fields that I do not need in the xml with file content conversion
the fields I want to skip are the same in every record of the log file.
thanks.Ralf,
You can only ignore lines in the begiining of the file using Document Offset option.
If you have the unwanted field in the end of the record and you are in SPS12 (PI 7.0), you can use the option additionalLasstFields in FCC parameters. have a look into the blog /people/sukumar.natarajan/blog/2007/06/12/content-conversion-in-sender-file-adapter--2-new-useful-parameters
Easier, is to ignore those fields in mapping.
Also, you can try to remove those fields using a shell script which can be called from the File adapter.

Jai Shankar
