File Date/Time

Hello,
I am looking for a way to access date/time information for a file. Am I missing something obvious? I can see that the File object provides 'lots' of information about the file -- but no date info (create time, last mod, etc.). Is there a way to do this without creating an external integration project?
Any help is appreciated.

Looks like an R3 feature, call
File.GetUsageTime(accessTime=DateTimeData,modificationTime=DateTimeData).
There is also File.GetFileAttribute(..).
Watch out about the timezone differences at you pick up the date and time.

  • FINDER: File Date & Time Slow to Update

    In finder windows my date and time is slow to "update" when I've changed a file. Viewing by "Date Modified" is worthless sometimes. I change & save a file, view in finder and the date & time has not updated. Update times vary from immediate to minutes...
    Surely this isn't typical? The systme can't handle getting file date&time updated?

    comments?

    Hi, Greg.
    I've seen this happen from time to time myself. In my case it has been very rare and I've been unable to pin down a cause. It appears to be a bit of a glitch in Finder. It's usually seen with server-mounted volumes even though it was supposedly fixed in Tiger after being a regular issue with shared volumes in Panther.
    Some ideas:
    • Temporarily switching the View from say List to Icon and Back often corrects this.
    • You might want to take a look at Nudge.
    • If it's happening at high frequency, purging your Finder preferences may help. See my "Finder Issues? How to delete its preferences" FAQ.
    • You may want to try Path Finder, an alternative Finder. You can use Finder and Path Finder simultaneously.
    Good luck!

  • Update file date/time stamp using java

    Let me explain you what I am going through:-
    I have created a java based installer using Jexpress tool and after I do the installation of my files, the files takes the current date rather then taking the date when it was created or modified.
    Everything goes into JAR and I heard that Jar file do not retain the date/time stamp of the file.
    I would like to know if we can change the date and time stamp of the files using Java.
    Is there any method to do that or can we do this by writing the java class?
    Thank You

  • Can't change master file date/time

    I am unable to change the date/time of any master photos using Aperture 3.3 under OS 10.7.1 (Lion), although I can change the date/time of versions.  This is the case on both my Mac Mini and MacBook Pro.  I have the same version of Aperture on another Mac Mini running OS 10.6.8 and do not have this problem. It makes no difference if the photo is referenced or not, or whether it resides on an internal or external HD.  I have also tried running the Aperture file permission fix and library rebuild "Option-Command" startup options.  When I select "Metadata > Adjust Date and Time..." from the menu and then check the "Also change master file" box the following message appears in a pop-up window:
    Unable to adjust master file
    Aperture was not able to adjust the date and time of
    the master file “P0000001.jpg” because it has a
    format that does not permit date modification.
    This appears to be an issue with Lion.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Better yet, is there a fix?

    Hi Don
    This seems to be a problem with Lion and there is no workaround: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15769485#15769485
    We have to wait for Apple for a fix...

  • Bridge CS4 - keep original file date/time

    Is it possible to set Bridge NOT to change original file modify date/time when editing metadata?
    Something like Irfan can do...
    thanks

    I know what you mean. Since the modified date is the only picture related date that can be used in explorer (and some other tools) for sorting, it's a very valuable field.
    While to my knowledge it's not possible to conserve the modified date in Bridge, it's at least possible to change it back to its original value after you've tagged your pictures in Bridge. For that, you need the free software EXIF Tool GUI:
    http://freeweb.siol.net/hrastni3/foto/exif/exiftoolgui.htm
    There, under "Modify", you can choose "FileModifyDate as in Exif:DateTimeOriginal
    If your only concern is sorting, I would recommend the following strategy:
    Before doing any tagging, use a renaming tool, such as the freeware LupasRenam2000 v.5
    http://rename.lupasfreeware.org/
    In there, sort your files according to the modified date (as long as it's still correct) and then add an increasing AutoNumber in front of your filename. Now, you can always sort by filename and get the correct temporal order.

    I suspect your data fields aren't lining up with your control file the way you expect them to...
    For example, using the first record
    Customer 1|850510|C2117-2972A|2011-07-07 00:00:00|21172972|BA
    response_key = "Customer 1" , overridden by response_seq.NEXTVAL
    response_dt = "850510" , overridden by sysdate
    response_cust = "C2117-2972A"
    response_mcn = "2011"
    response_isc = "-07-07 00:00:00"
    response_id = "21172972", with the function attempted as "to_date('21172971','YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS')",
    response_ordernum = "BA"
    response_too = ???
    You might consider EXPRESSION fields, which let you insert a calculated value, but don't replace a data field in the source record:
    LOAD DATA
    APPEND
    INTO TABLE MYTBL
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY "|"
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    response_key EXPRESSION "response_seq.NEXTVAL",
    response_dt EXPRESSION "sysdate",
    response_cust,
    response_mcn INTEGER,
    response_isc,
    response_id "to_date(:response_id,'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS')",
    response_ordernum INTEGER,
    response_too
    )which results in
    response_key = response_seq.NEXTVAL
    response_dt = sysdate
    response_cust = "Customer 1"
    response_mcn = "850510"
    response_isc = "C2117-2972A"
    response_id = "2011-07-07 00:00:00", with the function interpreted as "to_date('2011-07-07 00:00:00','YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS')",
    response_ordernum = "21172972"
    response_too = "BA"

  • Finding and showing file date/time i'm referencing on

    How can I find and show on page the date and time parameters of file on which i'm referencing with using an JSP? I tried it with java.io.*,
    <%@ page import="java.io.*"%>
    <%@ page import="java.awt.*,javax.swing.text.*"%>
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=windows-1250"%>
    <%
    File u_file=new File("http://oracle1/pn/index.html");
    long dat=u_file.lastModified();
    Date u_date=new Date(dat);
    %>
    <%=u_file.getPath()%>
    <%=u_file.getName()%>
    <%=u_file.isFile()%>
    <%=u_date%>
    but the date was always 0(1.1.1970) ,result of isFile was null, but result of Pathname and Name was correct.
    What is wrong?

    From the JSP, if you say, File file = new File(path);
    It will try to search for the file starting from the bin directory (I am using tomcat). So, you need to give the full path to the file from there.
    For example, if your file is in, webapps/examples/html/ directory, you need to use something like this,
    File file = new File("../webapps/examples/html/index.html");
    You can't give URL as the file name/path. You can't access Oracle's file system!!!
    Hope this helps.

  • Convert date time to file date time

    Hi,
    I have standard delphi function which conver datetime to filedatetime here is the description
    function DateTimeToFileDate(DateTime: TDateTime): Integer;
    Description
    Use DateTimeToFileDate to convert a TDateTime value, which is the representation of date-and-time values used by the VCL, to a DOS date-and-time value.
    For example, use DateTimeToFileDate to convert a TDateTime value to a
    format that can be used as the Age parameter of FileSetDate. You may
    also need to use DateTimeToFileDate to convert a TDateTime so that it
    is compatible with the Time field of the TSearchRec record used by the FindFirst
    and FindNext functions.
    Lo returns the low-order Byte of the argument X as an unsigned value. X is an expression of type Integer.
    Use Hi to obtain the high-order byte of an expression of type Word or Integer.
    Note:     Hi treats Integer as a 16-bit value, even if it is 32-bit.
    This is the delphi code that convert the date
    year=2003
    month=5
    day=28
    sec=57
    min=45
    hr=13
    msec=107
    LongRec(Result).Lo := (Sec shr 1) or (Min shl 5) or (Hour shl 11);
    LongRec(Result).Hi := Day or (Month shl 5) or ((Year - 1980) shl 9);
    output Result is --> 784100796
    Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    You use the java.util.GregorianCalendar to extract month, day, etc from a date.
    Then you use the shift operator ('<<') to construct the number.

  • Sort by EXIF Date/Time

    Would be nice to be able to srt by EXIF Date Time Original or EXIF Date Time Digitized. The existing file based Date Time Create or Date Time Modified may not be accurate. Some of our events (like a wedding) have photographs taken from a number of photographers and some of those files have been copied at some point before getting to editing, so the file Date Time Created is no longer correct. The file Date Time Modified sometimes works for us, but may not be reliable either. Right now we have a program that copies the file Date Time Modifies to the file Date Time Created, which usually works ok. Using the EXIF data would let us sort all of the aggregated shots by their original create date so that they are in the proper shoot sequence, without having to deal with all of this.

    Does anyone know how to sort files in bridge( or any other program0by time created?

  • Edit metadata without changing modified file date

    I'd like to use Bridge (CS4) to edit metadata in both JPEGs and RAW files, without changing the original file date/time stamp.
    Any way I can do this? Thanks.

    Thanks. I'm familiar with the file date utilities available (I've even written such a program myself), but it seems like an awkward solution.
    Since first posting this question, I discovered that I can keep my raw files untouched, by selecting Camera Raw Preferences > Save image settings > Sidecar .xmp files.
    I'd like to see a similar setting for JPEG images as well. Please?

  • HELP!!!!   How to read data from a file at time to time?

    i store temporary string data in a file(the data changes always), and i need to read the data in the file from time to time, so how can i read from the file like every 5 seconds?

    Please i need your help mr. noahw. i have a timer called timer1 inside that timer i am starting a thread to read the data in a file to me, then i have another timer timer 2 in which it takes the data already read from timer 1 and draws them on a GUI. the problem with me is that, i am unable to set a correct time for each of the two timers such that, every time timer one executes that is a new data is generated i need to draw only one figure coreesponding to those data, then when a new set of data is read i need to draw another figure based on the new data read, please help me with this becasue i need it urgently, this is my email, [email protected], and i can offer this reply as many points as you want if this helps you to help me, i am counting on you.

  • The export file from a calc script - naming and date/time stamp

    Here is a simple calc script to export data.
    2 questions:
    1. Is there an easy way to add a date/time stamp on the name of the data file so that it does not overwrite the older ones every time?
    2. I tried to specify the path so that it write to another server. "\\mfldappp011\E:\Exp_AW.txt". It's not working. How should I specify the path ?

    Probably easiest to call the maxl script from a command line script, then rename the exported file to include the tme stamp and copy/move it to a location.

  • Idoc- File with date+time stamp, getting overwritten

    Hi,
    I have a scenario where in am writing Idocs from R3 to a Txt File in 3rd party system.
    For an instance upon running a Tx, am generating 3 idocs. I need all these 3 idocs to be written to a single file. Hence for the file naming i have used "CREDAT_CRETIM.txt" from EDI_DC40(all idocs carry same date+time).
    I have configured the file mode as Create -> using Temporary fileschema of "Ord.xfr". I need this for locking before FTP to the 3rd party system.
    If i check the OVER WRITE EXISTING FILE checkbox, i get only the last idoc written to the file(overwriting previous 2 idocs).
    If i Uncheck the OVER WRITE EXISTING FILE checkbox, i get only the first idoc written to the file(other 2 idocs are not written) they are shown successful in MONI.

    hi BRamchan,
    >>>><i>If i Uncheck the OVER WRITE EXISTING FILE checkbox, i get only the first idoc written to the file(other 2 idocs are not written) they are shown successful in MONI.</i>
    If you can see in moni successfully process, look in the RWB communication channel monitoring of the receiving channel, there you might find error.

  • How do you vary the Date/Time stamp format in File Adapters

    In the receiver channel of the File Adapter where you specify the 'File Name Scheme', you do have the option of specifying a 'File Construction Mode' of 'Add Time Stamp'.  How can you specify a different Date/Time stamp format ( eg MM/DD/YY vs YYYYMMDD vs MMDDYY, etc. ) without changing the Date/Time stamp for the entire SAP system?  Also, can you control where the Date/Time stamp appears in the filename?

    Hi,
    There are many threads discussing the same issue. Go thro the following:
    Dynamic file name (Date) in Receiver File Adapter
    Receiver File Adapter - TimeStamp
    Bhavesh's reply in above thread:
    You can use Adapter Specific Identifiers and then change the file name in the mapping. Append the tiem stamp in the format that you want and so on.
    Just use this code in an UDF,
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    String SourceFileName = conf.get(key);
    java.text.SimpleDateFormat dateformat = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat( "yyyyMMdd" );
    dateformat.format( new java.util.Date() );
    String newfilename=SourceFileName+dateformat;
    // change to new file name
    conf.put(key, newfilename);
    return "";
