File filter removing the All Files option

I am trying to remove the All Files option from the file filter. Someone suggested doing this:
    public FileFilter getAcceptAllFileFilter() {
      return null;
}but I am unsure how to use it. My filechooser is this:
      final JFileChooser fc = new JFileChooser();
fc.setFileFilter(new ExtensionFileFilterClass());ExtensionFileFilterClass is used to filter out some extensions and only keep .txt ones. It works except for the All Files part. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I think my subject is probably misleading. I WANT to remove the All Files option. I only want to have the *.txt option on the filter. And it won't go away. Can I make it go away? I only want the user to have the ability to pick from *.txt files, not any. Thanks.

  • How can I remove the 'all files' pattern in the file dialog?

Is it possible to remove the *.* pattern from the file dialog? I want my users to only see my own made patterns...
    Thx!

    Hi Dennis,
you can add custom patterns with the pattern input, but you cannot remove the "All files (*.*)" pattern. To remove it was the question.
But I'm sorry I have also no solution to this.

  • How to remove the 'all files' option on the file dialog

Hi I was wondering if anyone has a good way to tackle this problem.
In my application the user has the ability to load the contents of a tdms file into an xy graph. I am accomplishing this with a simple file control. I'd like to make sure that they can't load a file that is not a .tdms. I have used the pattern *.tdms on the properties for the control and the default view of the browse popup shows only .tdms files as I would expect but there is still an option for the user to change the file type to 'all files'
What I'd like to do is either remove the ability for the user to choose the 'all files' type. Failing that, I'll probably have to have my VI look at the file extension before loading the file to ensure that it is the right kind to avoid errors.
Are there any other options that I should look at for accomplishing this task?

You must also take care of the fools that "convert" any other file (*.txt, *.xls, *.pdf, etc.)  to tdms by simply changing the extension in explorer.
(There are a few people here that "convert" *.bmp to *.jpg this way because attachments of bitmaps are not allowed. Just because the browser is smart enough to still display it despite the incorrect extension does not make it a jpeg image. Others write to an ASCII formatted txt file but give it an *.xls extension. While this does not make it an excel file, it forces the file to be opened by excel, which does its best to make sense of it. Works most of the time ).
Clearly, you need to check for proper extension after selection, but you should also handle the errors properly if the file is name *.tdms, but actually is something else.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
You can use Home Sharing to import music and other media from one computer to another. Please use the instructions and information located in the attached article for information on how to complete the process.

  • I want to change the default file type in the Open File dialog - e.g. from Word to All Files

I want to change the default file type in the Open File dialog - most recently specifically in Adobe Acrobat, from Adobe Files to All Files, so I don't have to do it again and again manually.  Is this possible?  Is it an OS setting or an app-specific setting?

The Apps set the default to the file type it can open, sort of. However, there normally isn't a type specified. All document types that the app can handle will be offered.
Adobe, and Microsoft, tend to roll their own dialogs, so they may not be standard. I don't have Acrobat, so I can't verify that. If Adobe is puting a file type selector in their open file dialogs, it would be up to them to store the preferences.
EDIT: I checked Reader, and i see what you mean. Not terribly useful.

  • Is there a way to remove the .lock file programmatically?

I'm creating a web app with NetBeans, Tomcat and the H2 Database Engine and am having troubles with database errors that seem to be caused by the .lock file existing in the directory where I am storing the database.
Is there a way to programmatically remove the .lock file? I like for the database to be locked only when it is being accessed by either of two different servers, but so far am having trouble with only one server running.
I have tried calling the close() method from the class that calls my database class when it is done with it, but it is creating an exception stating that the database is already open and tells me to close it. That's what I was trying to do!

Are you closing it this way [http://hsqldb.org/doc/2.0/guide/running-chapt.html#running_closing-sect]? And why are you worried about this? If two servers are going to connect, you should be running in HSQL "server" mode [http://hsqldb.org/doc/2.0/guide/running-chapt.html#running_modes-sect]. You can erase the lock file using java.io.File. But IMO, the fact you want to do this indicates you are not using the right database mode.
    - SaishI started out using HSQLDB, but it was giving me problems when I was trying to add data to my database, so I switched to H2 (as stated above) and it was able to add as much data as I could throw at it without any issues. My problem is that while debugging with NetBeans I occasionally get exceptions from H2 (through JDBC) that the database is locked and access was denied.
I would like to be able to only have the database "open" when I'm actively querying it or manipulating it.

You might post this query on the iPhoto forum and perhaps someone there can provide an answer.
I tried this on my MBP and it seems that you have to restore the entire iPhoto Library.  What I did was put the current library in a separate folder on the desktop and then I restored the library from a prior date.  If you were to do that, you then could extract the desired photos and then delete the restored library.  Then place the current library back to the original location and import the desired photos.
Not tidy but it seems it will work.

  • How do I get the "all floating" option in the "layout" to work?  Something happened that it stopped working.   I like to have several images on the screen at the same time.

I like to work with several images at the same time on the photoshop elements 12 "expert" screen and used to be able to have the "all floating" option in the "layout", thereby altering each image differently on the screen.   I'm an artist and view multiple images while painting.   But now that option doesn't work for some reason.   Help!

Editor preferences>general, turn Allow Floating documents, but then you may need to go to window>images>float all in windows to make it work for currently open files.

  • How can I make a droplet save a modified file next to the original file?

I am having a problem getting a Photoshop Droplet save a modified file next to the original file. That is, when I drag a file "page_6.pdf" from some directory onto my droplet, I want it to do its work and save a modified "page_6.psd" in that same directory.
This isn't working for me on Photoshop CC 2014 on Mac OS 10.10.
I have an Action which has an Open command, with the filename "page_1.pdf". Then it has a bunch of editing commands. Then it has a "Save As... Photoshop format" command, and a Close command. When I run this action within Photoshop, it brings up Open and Save As dialogues, and works fine.
In creating the droplet, I used File... Automate... Create Droplet..., and selected the following options:
    Override Action "Open" commands
    Destination menu value = Folder
Using Choose... button, select an output folder, Directory_1/ .
Check Override Action "Save As Commands" is checked
For File Naming, I use [Document Name] + "_deleteme" + [extension]
When I drag a folder, say "page_5.pdf" from some directory onto the droplet, Photoshop runs the Action on the document. However, it saves the modified document in Directory_1/, regardless of where the original file came from. And it always names the modified document "page_1_deleteme.psd", instead of using the Document Name of the original file.
If I modify the Open command in the Action to mention a different file, then the droplet always names the modified document with that name. It's as if Document Name in the File Naming dialogue always reflects what's in the Open command in the Action.  But -- I asked the droplet to Override Action "Open" commands!
When I set the Destination menu value to "Save and Close", then when I drag a file onto the droplet, the droplet opens a File Save dialogue and forces me to tell it where to store the file.  I don't understand this behaviour, and have a hard time reconciling it with the documentation at Photoshop Help | Processing a batch of files .
(Interestingly, when Destination menu value = None or Save and Close, Photoshop displays an alert about overwriting an existing droplet when I click OK to save. But when Destination menu value = Folder, there is no alert about overwriting existing droplet.)
How can I set up a droplet so that it writes the modified file in the same directory as the original file, and with the same root filename, but a different extension to reflect the different output file format?
Has anyone else made a droplet behave this way on Photoshop CC 2014 on Mac OS X 10.10?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks for your insights.
Does my Action need to include an Open command?  I sure thought so, because of how the Photoshop Help | Processing a batch of files documentation describes 'Override Action “Open” Commands'.
"...If the action contains an Open command that opens a saved file and you don't select this option, the Batch command opens and processes only the file you used to record the Open command..." I don't want to operate only the file I used to record the Open command. However, this sentence doesn't say that an Open command should be part of a droplet Action.
"...Deselect this option if the action was recorded to operate on an open file..."  Maybe I if I rethink my Action as operating on an open file, then the Droplet will take care of the Open for me.  However, I have less control over the options the droplet's Open command uses.
I'll try disabling the Open command, and create a Droplet with that.

I do not have any proble if you have got the answer. BUT this blog says how to exclude the other files from the same folder.
Your Case: For example, Your Sender CC wants to pick up file ABC.txt from /xyz dir, now suppose there are 10 thousand files of same name in the dir and you want ABC.txt should be picked up one by one, So how this blog is going to help you. Can you Plz explain to me and others too?
@Sachin may be you can throw some light on this... may be I am missing something.
