File.start in trace directory
Hi,
I see 2 files called file.start and file.end with a future date of Nov 2020 in $ORACLE_BASE/diag/rdbms/<oracle_sid>/<oracle_sid>/trace file. Does anyone have an idea how or why this must have been created?

yes - that would make sense - the user has to accept/trust the certificate the first time they run the applet.

If you do grant the applet (via the whitelist) the ability to access , for example, windows explorer, what is to stop a malicious website from using the same access? (Applet certificate has already been accepted so no security warnings). Is this because the server that the applet is launched from must appear in the whitelist for the app to work?
I was worried by the possibility of a remote install of the whitelist , but seems that there is security around this certificate/key exchange for example? I'm guessing that is what is meant by

So - in NW7.02 we don't have to distribute/update the whitelist, but we still have to install a key in each user's machine that corresponds to a certificate on the system distributing the whitelist.
Hopefully I'm being overly paranoid here - but with some clients we worked with refusing to install Adobe Flash player due to perceived security risks (and therefore ruling out the use of Flash Islands) it would nice to know that the ACFExecute "ui" element shouldn't be put in the same basket.

Start/stop trace between removing trace files
Hi,
I have the following problem.
I put some Oracle session on trace (I use sys.dbms_support.start_trace_in_session). Then I make some test. I close the trace (I use sys.dbms_support.stop_trace_in_session). I analyze the trace files (tkprof) and I make some tuning.
Then I'd like to remove the trace files (*.trc) and start the trace again for checking if the tuning was efficient.
It seems not possible. Event if I start the trace again I can't see and trc files.
In order to solve the problem I must to bounce the application I want to trace (so that the Oracle sessions start again).
Any hint?
Thanks, MaxIn that case, you will need to parse the trace file to identify the start and stop of the trace. Below is an example from a 10gR2 trace. Notice the line starting with the *** that contains the date. It comes between the stop of the trace and the start of another trace. You cannot use this line alone to signify the start of a trace as similar lines are emitted in the trace file when there are long delays between writes to the file.

Identity Management Install: 11g - start Oracle Internet Directory failed
Hello,
I have been struggling for the last couple of days with this installation, I have tried to install Identity Management (6 times) on a fresh VM with an install of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition - SP2 with 4GB RAM. In the server, there is also installed an Oracle database 11g.
No matter what I do, the installation always fails while trying to start Oracle Internet Directory, I need this installation in order to configure SSO with Forms and Reports.
I have also tried to start the services with opmnctl startall, but it only starts EMAGENT.

SAPCL Having more than one DB2 use the same trace directory.

Looking at the DBACOCKPIT SAP Collector settings panel, we have all of the DB2 subsystems that run in a given LPAR use the same trace directory. (HFS path of trace directory.)
In our case, that directory is /usr/sap/saposcol/traces. This means that we have trace files called db2cl* from all of our alert routers running on an LPAR in the same directory. It is a little confusing, but we can handle it. The question I have is that there is a cmds.alr file in that same directory. The contents of that file seem to change occasionally. At times throughout the day, the file seems to be contain information related to the five alert routers using that trace directory. Is it OK for the contents of this file to change?
Another question I have is related to the sapcl file that is in this directory. The timestamp on this file seems to change periodically. Sometimes the file size changes. Note 958252, the SAPCL FAQ says "The trace directory is required to save errors or trace files and to start the alert router. To start the alert router, the system loads the executable SAPCL from the database, saves it temporarily in the trace directory and starts it in USS."
With 5 alert routers, sharing the same trace directory, you could end up with 5 sapcl executables that get changed around based on what a particular alert router needs.
Would it be better to point each alert router to a different trace directory?

There are two configuration parameters in transaction DBACOCKPIT -> u201CSAP Collector Settingsu201D to determine the SAPCL directories.
HFS path of collector:
This is the directory, where the files u201CDBRM.db2cldbu201D and u201Csapdb2clu201D are located. The two files are used during installation of SAPCL and u201Ccopiedu201D into two targets:
A) Linked into DB2 Load library to be used as the stored procedure SAPCL.
B) Stored into a database table to be used as Alert Router.
This directory is accessed during installation only. Not during runtime.
HFS path of trace directory:
This is the directory, where trace files are stored of the stored procedure SAPCL and the Alert Router. In addition, this is used during startup of the Alert Router. Startup of the Alert Router is done by the following steps:
1. Unload the Alert Router executable out of the database table into the file u201Csapclu201D.
2. Creating the Alert Router parameter file u201Ccmds.alru201D. E.g. it contains the SSID.
3. The executable sapcl is started and the name of the Alert Router parameter file is used as the input parameter of sapcl to determine the behavior. E g. /u/sapr3/s12run/trace/sapcl /u/sapr3/s12run/trace/cmds.alr
To keep the input parameters files separate for each SSID, it is recommended to have a trace directory for each SSID. It is also recommended to have a trace directory for each DB2 member of a data sharing group. However, this is just a recommendation. Every time, an Alert Router is stared, the files u201Csapclu201D and u201Ccmds.alru201D are recreated and overwrite the existing files. After startup of the Alert Router, the two files are no more used.
In the case, where you are using different patch levels or versions of SAPCL and you are using the same trace directory for all SSIDs, it is very likely, that you see different sizes of the file u201Csapclu201D. This is because different patch levels or versions of SAPCL have different sizes and you always see the file size of the most recent stared Alert Router.
In case, that two Alert Routers are stared at the exactly same time, it could end up in problems.
Here is an example of the contents of cmds.alr of a two way data sharing group with the SSIDs SGC1 and SGC2 with a shred directory /u/sapr3/jotrun:

You can see, that almost all parameters are the same, except u201Cssidu201D and u201CTRCDIRu201D. TRCDIR come from the SAP Collector Settings parameter u201CHFS path of trace directoryu201D. Please note that there is not slash between u201Ctraceu201D and u201CSGCu201D. The directory name is u201CtraceSGC1u201D and u201CtraceSGC2u201D.

What i get is only the directories and files that in other nodes. But i have also files on the root directory and i never
get them. This is a screenshot of my program after i got the content of my ftp. I'm using treeView to display my ftp content:
You can see two directories from the root but no files on the root it self. And in my ftp server host i have files in the root direcory.

Now the main problem is that when i list the files and directories and display them in the treeView it dosen't get/display
the files in the root directory. Only in the sub nodes.
I will see the files inside hello and stats but i need also to see the files in the root directory.
1. How can i get and list/display the files of the root directory ?
2. For the test i tried to add to a List<string> the items in var files to see if i get the root files at all.
This is what i tried in the CreateDirectoryNode before it i added:

But this is wrong. I just wanted to see in testfiles what items i'm getting in var files in the end of the process.
Both var files and directoryListing are IEnumerable<FTPListDetail> type.

Now this is a screenshot of my program and you can see that in my program i have only the directories hello stats test but i don't have the files in the root: htaccess.config swp txt 1.txt 2.png....all this files i don't have it on my treeView.
What i want it to be is that on my program on the treeView i will also display the files like in my ftp server.
I see in my program only the directories and the files in the directories but i don't see the files on the root directory/node.
I need it to be like in my ftp server i need to see in my program the htaccess 1.txt 2.png and so on.
So what i wrote in my main question is that in the var files i see this files of the root directory i just don't know to add and display them in my treeView(my treeView is treeViewMS1).
I know i checked in my program in the method CreateDirectoryNode i see in the first iteration of the recursive that var files contain this root files i just dont know how to add and display them in my treeView.
On the next iterations when it does the recursive it's adding the directories hello stats test and the files in this directories but i need it to first add the root files. -
I have a 2nd Gen MAc book Air with Lion . The 60GB hard disc has quickly filled up despite me keeping most of my data on a portable hard drive . I used disk inspector to locate the problem but found that it was was in 20 GB of hidden files in my user directory . Is this correct and is there anything i can do about it ? Using disk inspector you can not see individual hudden diretories or files. I did unhide them but there is a mass of diretories etc and so no way i could see if this is one or multiple files using the space. Library System and Applications are at 4 3 and 3 GB respectvely. The data I actually keep on there is 9GB Thanks for any help
I think the problem is Quick Time Player. I am using OS 10.6.8 by the way.
I tried it out again.
I had about 26 GB of space before I played an .avi video.
After the movie started to play (it was slow to load), I got a warning message that my startup disk was full. I opened Disk Utility and it told me I had no space left (about 20 MB or something like that was left).
I watched to the end of the movie.
Then I quit Quicktime Player.
And I shut down the computer.
I turned on the computer and checked Disk Utility. I have about 26 GB of space.
I think for some reason Quicktime Player uses up a lot of the disk space when it runs movies that are problematic. This movie I was watching did not open with vlc.
I normally use vlc to watch movies.
Probably it doesn't use up this much space when the movie is OK.
I think there's a problem with this particular movie. It is about 50 MB so it's not that big a file. I watch .smi subtitles with it. The Quicktime Player automatically loads the subtitle file in this case because the subtitle file has the same name as the movie file.
I watched about 10 movie files from the same series that I downloaded together and did not have any problem watching them. I watched them on vlc. But this latest movie had problems I think (as I repeat). It did not load on vlc even though I waited for a minute, and normally movies load instantly on vlc.
So I think that movie file caused problems. It made QT player use up a lot of hard disk space.
I had better avoid watching that movie in the future. I don't want it to wreck my hard drive.
So to sum up, everything is back to normal. I have the hard disk space that I should have. However, I am scared of damaging my hard drive due to shonky movie files that eat up all the space when they are played using QT player, and so I will not watch those files in the future, as I do not know why the files do that. -
[SOLVED] Files in the /tmp directory are being deleted
Hi,
I've been using Arch Linux for four weeks, but have now come across a problem which I can't fix after trying to search for a solution (and also checking to see if anyone also had the same problem). I would appreciate any help you can give.
A few days ago the web browsers I use (chromium and opera) lost their profile settings, and I had to set the profiles. This kept happening and the indicator of the problem was that I use profile-sync-daemon for both web browsers, which uses the /tmp directory. I then started noticing that a file I created in /tmp disappeared which pointed me to the fact that something was cleaning up the /tmp directory (this seems to happen hourly).
A quick search led me to systemd-tmpfiles and the /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/tmp.conf file. I have not modified the file, and if I have read it correctly only files in the /tmp directory that are more than 10 days old are deleted. I boot every day, so no files should be deleted by systemd-tmpfiles (unless I've misunderstood tmpfiles.d).
Here is the tmp.conf file anyway:

EDIT: journalctl doesn't show me anything interesting, other than the fact that chromium complains when it realizes that its profile data has gone missing.

There was a gnome update earlier in the week. gnome-settings-daemon runs an hourly housekeeping job. I had set the "Automatically Purge Temporary Files" in the Privacy tab when setting up my laptop last month.
gnome-settings-daemon has decided to delete files in the /tmp directory (I can trigger this by clicking "Purge Temporary files" which then deletes my files in the /tmp directory). This does not happen in the previous gnome-settings-daemon. Anyway, I'll mark the thread SOLVED if my file in the /tmp directory survives the hour!

10.1.3.4 - ESB FTP adapter not processing the files in the input directory
I created a process that reads from a logical inputDir. I migrated the ESB service to another box and created the same adapter connection etc. however nothing really happens in this new environment. In the opmn.log i see the following statements and no other info.

The last message "Connection Created" keeps repeating, but no processing occurs. I tried increasing all the loggers to finest. but still nothing happens.
any idea how to troubleshoot this ? the only difference in the environment is that the new environment has 10.1.3.4 MLR2 and the first one is just plain 10.1.3.4Make sure that you modified the oc4j-ra.xml file in the FtpAdapter directory and have put the correct hostname and username and password. Firefox crashes and when attempting to launch after the crash it won't launch; throwing an error msg that " js.3250 can't be found" - but same file is in Mozilla directory.
I must then download new 3.6.8 and lose all tabs and history.I have a similar problem. Recently my FF8 has been crashing a lot. It regularly locks up an entire core of my PC and often just shuts down. It has just done it a moment ago and when it started back up it did the whole "this is embarrassing" thing and asked me if I wanted to reload my tabs. I deselected the one that I was trying to view as I suspected that it may have been the cause (unlikely; it was node4.co.uk) but anyway, let's skip it just in case. Click on the button to restore and up pops my homepage only. So all of my other tabs, which I was using for work incidentally, are gone.
This is not the first time this has happened on FF8. It happened a lot recently on FF6 I think it was (so hard to keep track now, Mozilla) and I switched to Chrome as a result, but it turns out that it crashes even more than FF6 did. FF7 was a vast improvement but FF8 is so unstable/unpredictable for me at the moment that I think I'd rather use IE9 than this. It's driving me mental, clearly! I wish I could kill the process manually and have it retry restoring tabs. Hey, there's an idea Mozilla; give us a menu item that allows us to restore the session to how it started to try again or at the very least get a list of the pages we were looking at. They don't show up in Recently Closed Windows and the Restore Previous Session is greyed out too. Gah! Help! -

I installed ratpoison and started it up successfully.
but I have no ~/.ratpoisonrc file in my home directory.
Where is that?
I also have no /etc/ratpoison dir or file...

ODBC for Rdb files dissolve at root directory now
Late Dec99, I noticed a change in behavior of Oracle Rdb driver installation files.
For a couple years, on a Windows 95 PC, when I run the rdbwin95.exe installation program via Start > Run > and specify the -d qualifier, the installation program would first create a Win95 folder inside the current folder location and then create additional folders inside that new folder. Now, it creates the Win95 folder at the root directory, e.g., c:\ level, instead of inside the temporary installation folder.
Likewise, when I run an older version, rdb32.exe for example, it also dissolves into multiple files, all at the root level, instead of the temporary folder where I had placed it. Rdb16.exe behaves the same way.
Processing these 2 files can get ugly because it can exceed the maximum number of objects permitted on the c: drive, making new folder creation impossible until the install files are deleted.
I wonder if there might be some incompatability between the zip program used to create the install files and my current PC software. Each of the PCs I've tried at my location behave the same way, but some PCs at other locations do not, while some do. I just haven't been able to figure out the common denominator.
The only reason I call this a problem is that I have some s/w installation instructions that walk users thru example screens and it looks like I may need to cover both possible behaviors in my examples.
Has anyone else seen this problem? Or, have any explanation for it?

What i mean is this. This is a screenshot of my ftp server at my host(ipage.com).
Now this is a screenshot of my program and you can see that in my program i have only the directories hello stats test but i don't have the files in the root: htaccess.config swp txt 1.txt 2.png....all this files i don't have it on my treeView.
What i want it to be is that on my program on the treeView i will also display the files like in my ftp server.
I see in my program only the directories and the files in the directories but i don't see the files on the root directory/node.
I need it to be like in my ftp server i need to see in my program the htaccess 1.txt 2.png and so on.
So what i wrote in my main question is that in the var files i see this files of the root directory i just don't know to add and display them in my treeView(my treeView is treeViewMS1).
I know i checked in my program in the method CreateDirectoryNode i see in the first iteration of the recursive that var files contain this root files i just dont know how to add and display them in my treeView.
On the next iterations when it does the recursive it's adding the directories hello stats test and the files in this directories but i need it to first add the root files. -

I'm trying to install Oracle Internet Directory on a RHEL5 64 bit for the first time.
The database (11.2.0.3), Weblogic (10.3.6), and OID (11.1.1.6) have all installed okay, and I'm running the config.sh script.

Thanks in advance.I downloaded the RCU 11.1.1.6 patch (13517109) and it ran fine this way (after a drop/create on the OID schemas).
Obviously running the {Middleware_Home}/Oracle_IDM1/bin/rcu file isn't the way to do it. I'll pay closer attention next time....

I installed informatica 9.0.1 on linux. and created repository from admin console. now I want to change the rep service name and there is no option to do that and created new rep service with name Oracle_BI_DW_Base. service is up but got an issue with code page. I was disables previously created rep service now when I try to enable it it is trying to connect Oracle_BI_DW_Base repository. dont know this repository over written old one.
