Filter Table question

Question regarding 'local menu | Filter Table' option.
I have a long sheet (1000+ entries) that has customer names in a column.  There is over 200 distinct customers in this column.  However, when I choose the above option, it only shows 25 names.
Is this a known limit?  If so, is it possible to change the names that show on the list, so the most frequent / common names are shown?
Just looking for a quick on-the-fly quick filtering which I do dozens of times per day.
P.S  Trying to switch from Excel for Mac which does have this capability.
Thanks
Nick

I am just wondering if there is a hard limit of 25 entries that are shown, no matter how many different names there are.
It appears that the maximum number is 25 entries in the dropdown filter list. However, you can filter on any value you want via Edit Table Filters in the dropdown or by clicking the Filter icon upper right.

  • Question on Filter Table button

    Hi,
    I have a matrix with a column 'Price'.
    At the bottom of the form i have a button with a edit text, and when i press the button, i read every row of the matrix and i make the total of the column 'Price' and i put this total in the Edit Text.
    If i use the 'Filter table' standard Sap, i not able to reproduce the same calculation, cause i'm not able to check if the row is visible or no!!
    Have you got any idea??
    Help me...

  • How to filter tables in table browser in designer

    Hello Experts,
    I had a direct connection to SAP ECC database and I want to create an universe (with designer) on top of a database table. Problem is that ECC have a lot of tables and is very time consuming the selection of tables in table browser, question is:
    is there a way to filter tables or to directly select a table provided I know the table name I want to work with?
    note: I want to use aggregate data from logistic information tables because there is no BW system in this landscape
    thank you
    Edited by: Garduño Azael on Jul 29, 2011 6:12 PM

    Hi,
    You should use the external strategy function of the designer (see chapter OPTIMIZING UNIVERSES -> USING EXTERNAL STRATEGIES TO CUSTOMIZE UNIVERSE CREATION)
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/xi31_designer_en.pdf
    you don't need to create a new external strategy. Designer comes with a set of "standard" external strategies.
    For filtering tables use "table strategy".
    In order to make it to work for your environment, check the file *.STG and see which db user is used in the delivered strategy, then, add this user to your RDBMS and set the permissions and tables you wish to select to in designer
    For example in my BO installation the user is named 'USER', so I added it to my DB2 RDBMS of sapecc and added the required tables
    hope it helps

  • Table question/problem

    This is an html table question, but since I am working with
    CF on this, I thought I would post here for help.
    I query and cfoutput the data in a table. The table has ten
    columns. The first five are alpha numeric and the last five are
    numeric. The output displays fine.
    What the want to do now is to put a black border around the
    number columns, the last five.
    I tried to make each column its own table, but that just puts
    a box around each value, the columns are not connected.
    How can I do this ?
    Thanks for helping.

    Put a thin black left border in the sixth column and a
    similar right border in the tenth (last) column.
    It is neater and advisable to use CSS.
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    .bdrLft {
    border-left-color:#000000;
    border-left-width:thin;
    -->
    </style>
    <td class="bdrLft">
    The inline formatting will look like:
    <td style="border-left-color:##000000;
    border-left-width:thin;">
    Do the same for the top border (last 5 column headers). The
    bottom border may be trickier. The idea is to apply bottom border
    at the last query count. One can do without the top and bottom
    borders, however.

  • DB2 on AS/400.  SQL0418 error from Filter tables, advanced search.

    We're using ADF 11g against an AS/400 Database.
    When using a filter table, or using any advanced search with starts with , .... we are getting an SQL error SQL0418 -- "A statement contains a use of parameter marker that is not valid ..."
    The generated SQL looks something like:
    SELECT Customer.CGVMSTCST,
    Customer.PARENTCUSTOMER, ...
    FROM CSTTBLMP Customer,
    NADADRMP Address
    WHERE Customer.CGVADRLOC = Address.NADADRLOC
    AND ( ( (Customer.CGVADRSTE LIKE ( ? || '%') ) ) )
    Running this query in test tools confirms that this is not acceptable SQL. However, this is
    SELECT Customer.CGVMSTCST,
    Customer.PARENTCUSTOMER, ...
    FROM CSTTBLMP Customer,
    NADADRMP Address
    WHERE Customer.CGVADRLOC = Address.NADADRLOC
    AND ( ( (Customer.CGVADRSTE LIKE ( cast(? as varchar(255)) || '%' ) ) ) );
    DB2 needs the parameter marker to be typed.
    We've created CustomerViewImpll.java (view for above examples) and overridden buildWhereClause() to replace
    with
    cast(? as varchar(255)).
    In debug, we verify that the buffer passed to buildWhereClause (1st param) is being changed,
    but when the query runs, it is not reflecting the changed value.
    Is there anything else we need to change?
    CustomerViewImpl.java:
    @Override
    protected boolean buildWhereClause(java.lang.StringBuffer sqlBuffer, int noBindVars) {
    // call ViewObjectImpl's buildWhereClause() to allow the framework to do its processing
    boolean hasWhereClause = super.buildWhereClause(sqlBuffer, noBindVars);
    if (hasWhereClause) { // framework added a WHERE clause
    sqlBuffer = replace(sqlBuffer, "?", "cast(? as varchar(255))");
    else { // framework did not add a WHERE clause, so we need to add it ourselves
    hasWhereClause = true; // ensure that is set to notify the framework
    return hasWhereClause; // return true/false to indicate whether a WHERE clause was added
    public StringBuffer replace (StringBuffer strBuffer, String searchString, String newString) {
    String str = strBuffer.toString();
    // Need to use Regex functionality, or the '?' replacement parm is construed as a regex instead of a literal
    String newStr = str.replaceFirst(Pattern.quote(searchString), Matcher.quoteReplacement(newString));
    return new StringBuffer(newStr);
    ...

    Thanks Nick -- as you suggested, the problem was in my code.
    For anyone who runs into this, here's my working example:
    (in CustomerViewImpl.java -- the view object implementation)
    @Override
    protected boolean buildWhereClause(java.lang.StringBuffer sqlBuffer, int noBindVars) {
    // call ViewObjectImpl's buildWhereClause() to allow the framework to do its processing
    StringBuffer sqlADF = new StringBuffer();
    boolean hasWhereClause = super.buildWhereClause(sqlADF, noBindVars);
    if (hasWhereClause) {
    String str = sqlADF.toString();
    String strInit = "?";
    String strReplace = "cast(? as varchar(255))";
    str = str.replaceFirst(Pattern.quote(strInit), Matcher.quoteReplacement(strReplace));
    sqlBuffer.append(str);
    else {
    hasWhereClause = false; // ensure that is set to notify the framework
    return hasWhereClause; // return true/false to indicate whether a WHERE clause was added
    Should probably override the View Object base classes and set up project defaults to use overridden versions.

  • Basic table question - include empty rows

    Hi msdn,
    I create SSRS reports for MS CRM 2011 in Visual Studio Shell 2010 (SQL Server 2012).
    For
    my Dataset, i use fetch xml from the crm.
    I'm currently creating a report which  should list all the lost opportunities from one year grouped by the reason(statuscode)
    of their loss.
    The table below is working but it doesn't include "empty statuscodes"(Reasons with no opportunities attached to
    it)
    (Stückzahl 2013 = number of opportunities) (Angebotssumme 2013= Sum of all opportunities in CUR)
    I have a list in my crm with all the possible reasons, a number of  25 Statuscodes.
    I want them all to appear in the table and when there is no lost opportunity linked to it, just display a 0.
    Below is my dataset query and as you see, i select the opportunity first and statuscode is a field in it
    <fetch version="1.0" output-format="xml-platform" mapping="logical" distinct="true">
    <entity name="opportunity">
    <attribute name="name" />
    <attribute name="customerid" />
    <attribute name="estimatedvalue" />
    <attribute name="statuscode" />
    <attribute name="opportunityid" />
    <order attribute="name" descending="false" />
    <filter type="and">
    <condition attribute="statecode" operator="eq" value="2" />
    <condition attribute="statuscode" operator="not-null" />
    <condition attribute="estimatedvalue" operator="not-null" />
    <condition attribute="actualclosedate" operator="not-null" />
    </filter>
    <link-entity name="new_automatisierung" from="new_verkaufschance" to="opportunityid" alias="ae"></link-entity>
    </entity>
    </fetch>
    So my question is which possibilities i have to achive my goal?
    Is it even possbile with this dataset?
    I hope i made it clear enouth for you guys to understand. As you can see, im fairly new to SSRS.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi there,
    You may need two queries to do this, #1 to retrieve status codes & opportunities and #2 above query to get details.  Bind the table to #1 query.  Then use lookup or lookupset function to retrieve results from #2.

    You might have more luck in Dynamics forum.

  • SQL and External table question

    Hello averyone,
    I have a file to be read as an external table part of it is below:
    ISO-10303-21;
    HEADER;
    FILE_DESCRIPTION((''),'2;1');
    FILE_NAME('BRACKET','2005-07-08T',('broilo'),(''),
    'PRO/ENGINEER BY PARAMETRIC TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION, 2004400',
    'PRO/ENGINEER BY PARAMETRIC TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION, 2004400','');
    FILE_SCHEMA(('CONFIG_CONTROL_DESIGN'));
    ENDSEC;
    DATA;
    #5=CARTESIAN_POINT('',(5.5E0,5.5E0,-5.1E1));
    #6=DIRECTION('',(0.E0,0.E0,1.E0));
    #7=DIRECTION('',(-1.E0,0.E0,0.E0));
    #8=AXIS2_PLACEMENT_3D('',#5,#6,#7);
    The first question is: how to ignore the lines until the DATA; line or SQL already does it for me?
    The second question is: since the fields of interest are separated by commas and the first field does not interest me (it is solved with a varchar2) how can I read the following fields as numbers ignoring the (,# and ) characters please?
    Thanks for any help.
    Sincerely yours,
    André Luiz

    The SKIP option can be used with SQL*Loader to skip a certain number of lines before starting to load. Off hand I cannot see any easy way to load the data in the format given. The format does not resemble a typical CVS format. You can look at the test cases provided for SQ*Loader in the Oracle® Database Utilities guide - or simply write PL/SQL code to load this data manually using UTL_FILE.

  • Parent child table question

    HI i have some questions which iam unclear please help me
    1) in a parent child relationship.. is it always 1-m relation from parent to child?
    2) can a parent table be on many side? i.e can a child - parent be 1- m?
    3) if i itake employee as child table and department as parent table then dept_id will be the foreigh key in employee table ...
    Now if i want to add a new employee who is not assigned to any department can i add it ?
    4) In an identifying relationship ... a child table has concatenated primary key (pk of child,pk of parent)
    should we still add any other primary key to the table....in addition to this concatenated key?
    thanks in advance
    raj

    Hi!
    1) in a parent child relationship.. is it always 1-m relation from parent to child?
    yes unless you create a unique index on the foreign key column
    2) can a parent table be on many side? i.e can a child - parent be 1- m?
    no, if you need an n-m you will need an intersection table
    e.g. employees - emp_dept - departments
    in this case the emp_dept table would contain the foreign keys of employees and departments
    3) if i itake employee as child table and department as parent table then dept_id will be the foreigh key in employee table ...
    Now if i want to add a new employee who is not assigned to any department can i add it ?
    no, you will have to insert the master first
    Best regards,

  • Rich Client Query Filter Pane question

    I've browsed through various forums without finding an answer to my problem. I'm frustrated and hope someone else has been there/done that and can offer a suggestion to ease my pain.
    We're using BOXI 3.0, and my question is specifically about deciphering/maintaining the contents of the query filter pane in InfoView and/or Web Intelligence Rich Client.
    We have some complicated reports with numerous optional prompts. We realize this is not optimal, but need to maintain this reports until we can replace them.
    The filter panes are very complicated, since there are so many prompts, ANDs, and ORs and nested statements.
    Is there a way to see which universe component a query filter field is connected to? In the query results pane (on top), I can click on a field and it's source is highlighted in the universe tree view on the left. That doesn't happen when you click a field in the query filter pane.
    Is there some way I've not found yet, or is this an enhancement request for BOE? Thanks in advance.

    I guess this an enhancement request for BOE because I've never seen an option like that.  And I really wish that option existed.
    The only way I could think of to solve this problem is renaming all the objects of your universe.  This way you may know what class any object is related to when using the query filter panel.
    For example: You have 3 classes in the universe: Users, Quotes, Invoices.  Rename them with a prefix, let's say:
    U-Users
    Q-Quotes
    I-Invoices
    Then all the objects belonging to Users must be renamed with the U- prefix:
    U-User name
    U-User id
    And the same applies for the other classes objects:
    Q-Quotes:
        Q-quote id
        Q-User id
         Q-Amount
    I-Invoices:
       I-Invoice id
       I-Quote id
       I-Amount
    So if in one query filter panel you have a filter using the object Quote id, you'll see if this Quote id comes from Quotes or Invoices, because of the prefix Q- or I-.
    I don't know if it is a good practice but I hope it helps.

  • How to sort/filter tables and lists like in Excel?

    Hi.
    I used to keep track of my expenses in Excel and had a nice table or list (I forget what it's officially called) with a header row where when I clicked on the header of a particular column it would let me sort and filter- for example, I have a column called "category" and I could click on the header for that column and select a filter so that I only saw travel expenses and then the sum below would only reflect how much I spent on travel. I could also click on the "date" column header and "sort ascending" to put everything in chronological order. That was awesome.
    I got a new mac and thought I could keep updating and using this file in Numbers and wouldn't have to buy MS Office. But when I opened the file and saved it as a numbers file, I find that I've lost the ability to sort or filter. The cell at the bottom that has the SUM still works but the header row does nothing. I've seen some other threads about this but I don't really understand them so please forgive me if this is repetitive. Someone suggested hovering the cursor over a column header and a triangle pops up- that is not happening- I think that's in an old version of Numbers. How can I do those things I listed above- sort and filter my entire table? Right now I can only see the total sum of everything in the table but I often need to just add up one category of expenses.
    I don't really know all the math stuff, like formulas. My brain has trouble following that stuff. It was so simple in Excel. Is there anyway to get my header row back to how it was in Excel? If not, if you are able to guide me through some more complicated way to do it I would really appreciate it and I hope I can follow it.
    Thank you for your time.

    I want to understand how to make the sum cell only show the total of visible rows...
    I don't think you can do that directly.  SUM will include hidden rows. But you can use SUMIF and SUMIFS.
    An example using SUMIF:
    An example using SUMIFS:
    Instead of putting SUMIF and SUMIFS in a separate summary table, you could also put them in Footer Rows of your data table.
