Filtering with wildcards in af:table

Hello!
We are using af:tables with filter bars. By default, attributes of Java type String are filtered with an additional wildcard at the end, respectively they are using the STARTSWITH operation in the ViewCritieriaItem.
This behaviour is done in class oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUSearchBindingCustomizer in method private static void setViewCriteriaItemDefaultOperation(ViewCriteriaItem vci); Is there a simple workaround to avoid this wildcard search by default?
We are currently using JDev 11.1.1.5.

The definition of the search region binding (which is defined in the PageDef and which is used by the table filter) specifies the class oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUSearchBindingCustomizer as a binding customizer. You can replace it in the PageDef with a custom class of yours (e.g. with a custom subclass of yours that modifies the requested functionality). I am not sure if this is possible for the case you described, because the necessary method is static and private (you may have to replace the whole class with a copy-paste-modify version of the original JUSearchBindingCustomizer class), I am just giving you an idea.

Hi all, I am using BOXI r2 WEBI
when you want to filter a query, can u filter on symbols. Like we have a tool that starts with @xxxxx. I want everything but that tool. So can I filter on DOES NOT MATCH PATTERN @%? i have tried it and it doesnt seem to work. i get no data for my query. Does BO restrict filtering on symbols?

I have never tried filtering special characters.
But I think it should work.
You can use wildcard % or _
I believe you can also use "Match(string;pattern)", this determines wheather string matches a pattern.

please have a look in the source of the executed Web Application. What is inside of the <div> with the id filter?
You should also find a td tag with id hier_xyz with xyz the filter inside of the <div>-Tag with id filter.
Also check whether you have a javascript error.
Have a look on the Javascript function set_style. Perhaps you can paste it here, than I can have a look.

Filters with variables user-exits on queries

Is it possible to define complex selection criteria by using the EXIT_SAPLRRSO_001?. Something similar to what we may do a select for Sap:
Select * from table where ((field1 = value1 and field2 = value2) or (field1 = value3 and field2 = Value4)).
I guess not, it seems that only allows a range for output as a single variable ...
If this is not possible, is there any way to filter the data before the show?. I do not care who is among the infoprovider and Bex, who between Bex and Excel ...

The variable can take any combination that can be specified in a select-option. The criteria used to select these values to be populated for the variable can be as complex as any ABAP program. So all combinations in a select statement are allowed.

Multiple selection with wildcard in WAD

Hello,
How can I do filtering with multiple selection with wildcard in WAD 7 ?
We have this problem in two seperate situation. The first is in the parameter screen where we want to filer the output with two wildcard. The first one we can put on the field and then go to the selection screen but what about the other ????. The second situation is in the report when we want to filter one of the columns with wildcard.
I will appreciate if someone will open my eyes about this.

Filtering works on the principle of selecting values from an existing master set. Hence, as suggested the master set can be your model node and create another value node (exact copy of the model node) to hold the values to be displayed in the table.
Remember it is always better if the backend provides these capabilities rather than implementing filtering and sorting in front end.

Filtering data in data/complex table before showing it under dropdown in Syclo Agentry applications

Hello experts,
I wish to import the data present in a table in ECC and store it in a data/complex table.
The data in this table would look like as follows:

Characteristic2                    Value5
Now, I have to pick up the data from this table and o display the data in a dropdown.
Before I display the data in dropdown, I wish to filter this table so that at any given time, It only displays the data for a particular characteristic.
So, if a text box in my screen has "Characteristic1" set in it, the dropdown below should display following entries:
Value1
Value2
Value3
My question is, is it possible to filter the data table dynamically so that the dropdown values can be adjusted?
as I understand, dropdown fields can ONLY be populated using a data table or a complex table. Is this correct?
Can I use Java side code to manipulate the entries in data/complex table?
What would be the best approach to fulfill this requirement?

This is the classic example of a parent / child filtering relationship in the complex table. You have your Complex table structured perfectly already to fit this use case. This is best done on in the Agentry application and will work exactly as you describe assuming you have the necessary indexes setup.
In your complex table you will want to create two indexes.
An index on Field1 (your parent). I'll call it Field1Idx (you can call it anything you want)
An index on Field2 with a Parent index selection of Field1Idx. I'll call it Field2byField1Idx (the convention is to name it so it indicates what the parent is)
Now on your screen you have your text box field and your drop down field. In the properties of your Complex Table Drop Down you will specify:
Table Index: Field2byField1Idx
Cascade Parent: text box (select your text box field from the screen. Can also be set by a rule)
Display Field: probably Field2 or the description for field two if a code value
Return Field: Field2
Now the complex table drop down will use the value in the text box as a filter to show only those records from the Field2byField1Idx index where the parent value matches the value from your text box field.

I have performance issue with SQL query.
When I am using "where emp_name like '%im%' " query is taking longer time than when I use "where emp_name like 'im%' " .
With former condition query takes 40 sec , with later it takes around 1.5 sec.
Both returns almost same no. of rows. We have function based index created on emp_name column.
With wildcard at both ends query goes for full table scan.
Can any one please suggest way so that query responce time can be reduced.?
I even tried using hints but still it is going for full table scan instead of using index.

(unless you have some weird index reversing the string).
With the double wild-card, the system has to search through the string character by character to see
if there are any letter "i's" and then see if that letter is followed by an "m".
That's using your standard B-tree index (see below).

Here's how to do ALV (OO) with dynamic fcat, int table and editable data

Hi everybody
Here's a more useful approach to ALV grid with OO using dynamic table, data NOT from DDIC, dynamic FCAT and how to get changed lines from the grid when ENTER key is pressed.
It's really not too dificult but I think this is more useful than the ever present SFLIGHT methods from the demos.
This also defines a subclass of cl_gui_alv_grid so you can access the protected attributes / methods of that class.
You don't need to add the class via SE24 -- done fron this ABAP.
When you run it click Edit for the first time.
After editing data press ENTER and the break point should bring you into the relevant method.
Code developed on NW2004S trial version but also works on rel 6.40 on a "Real" system.
The code should work without any changes on any system >=6.40.
All you need to do is to create a blank screen 100 via SE51 with a custom container on it called CCONTAINER1.
The rest of the code can just be uploaded into your system using the SE38 upload facility.
When running the program click on the EDIT button to enable the edit functionality of the grid.
Change your data and when you press ENTER you should get the break-point where you can see the original table and changed rows.
This program is actually quite general as it covers Dynamic tables, building a dynamic fcat where your table fields are NOT in the DDIC, intercepting the ENTER key via using an event, and accessing the protected attributes of the cl_gui_alv_grid by defining a subclass of this class in the abap.
I've seen various questions relating to all these functions but none in my view ever answers the questions in a simple manner. I hope this simple program will answer all these and show how using OO ALV is actually quite easy and people shouldn't be scared of using OO.

IE7 doesn't give me the add new page option and I get 404 error when trying to access the "How to contribute" section.
I'll load up Firefox later (this browser usually works when IE7 doesn't always work properly).

Are there any known performance issues with version enable partitioned tables?
Ive been doing some performance testes with a large version enable partitioned table and it seems that OCB optimiser is choosing very expensive plans during merge operations.

There are currently no known issues with version enabled tables that are partitioned. The merge operation may need to access all of the partitions of a table depending on the data that needs to be moved/copied from the child to the parent. This is the reason for the 'Partition Range All' step in the plan that you provided. The majority of the remaining steps are due to the hints that have been added, since this plan has provided the best performance for us in the past for this particular statement. If this is not the case for you, and you feel that another plan would yield better performance, then please let me know and I will take a look at it.
One suggestion would be to make sure that the table was been recently analyzed so that the optimizer has the most current data about the table.
Performance issues are very hard to fix without a reproducible test case, so it may be advisable to file a TAR if you continue to have significant performance issues with the mergeWorkspace operation.

Steps involved in process
1) Creation of PO(STO) ME21N-
2) Creation of outbound delivery and post goods issue- VL10B
3) Posting of GRN goods receipt - MIGO
4) Creatin of excise invoice path is - User menu---> Logistics --->Materials Management --->Excise Duty --->Tools ---> Limted document selection (/BEV2/EDT7)

Procedure
Check and edit the rejected document items by means of the function Rejected documents.
If we check the Rejected documents you will find the error as -
Error 15 GI posting not yet processed/has been rejected
If we check the sucessful posted document with problem document in table /BEV2/EDMSE you will find the stock ledger number field is blank, may be because of this the tax value is not getting calculated.
Please guide to solve the problem.

How can I create a universe with the BO repository tables?

Hi. I need make a universe with the BO repository tables, in order to get user information .
But, when I try to insert tables in designer, using a new conecction to BO repository. I can't see tables.
Someone can help me?

The CMS repository is organized into both physical and virtual tables. Only the CMS can access the virtual tables, therefore you cannot create a universe on the CMS repository. You can access the CMS repository information through the Enterprise SDK.

Work with data from a table of another SAP R/3 system

Hi,
I want to work with data from a table of another system. I know there's a function called 'RFC_READ_TABLE' but I don't know really how it works. What I want to do is to get data from that system and pass it to the one where I'm working in order I can continue working with this data in the report.
Besides, I'd like to select only the records that have some conditions.
I'd appreciate if someone could tell how to do it, whether with FM 'RFC_READ_TABLE' or in another way.

Yes, you can use RFC_read_table .You can pass the number of columns but I recommend you to bring all results in your internal table after that you can filter the records. Most of the time I have notice when you make RFC call with this FM to another system it works but it may also happen that other system controlling authorization and then it might give you nothing. As I face this problem on my last Project.

Implement check for File Names with data into TRG table

hi,
I am trying to load the Multiple files names & Autonumber to oracle table T1 which is further loaded the auto-number with data to target table TRG. My problem is when the same name file comes again due to size then load it again. & also don't insert Target (TRG) table rows with same data while insert the only those records/rows which are not in Target Table(TRG) .. Is this standard approach. becoz in this way I thing loading Performance speed will b down??
Any other or best recommended approach???/

Hey Jason,
Create a validation of type exists. in expression 1 put:
SELECT 1
FROM DUAL
WHERE UPPER(:P9_FILE) LIKE '%TEST.HTML';
{code}
change P9_FILE to your file browse item name and change '%TEST.HTML' to '%YOUR_FILE_NAME'

Replace words with images, in a table, using the search/replace tool

Hello everybody
I have a question:
Is it possible to replace words with images, in a table, using the search/replace tool?
My case:
I have a table with about 9000 articles on about 400 pages. In this table there are words which I like to replace with Logos.
Example: The word "DM" should be the Logo "DM" (.eps). This word is about 1200 times in this table.
Is it possible to replace it automatically?
