Find list of procs & funcs loading a table
Is there a simple way to find out which are all the procedures & functions are inserting or updating data in particular inserting data into a table. Like in sybase we have "sp_depends table_name" which will list out the procs & funcs, like wise do we have similar way in Oracle to find out.
Thanks a lot.
You can try DBA/ALL/USER_DEPENDENCIES view : please read http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e17125/adfns_dependencies.htm#ADFNS99966. Note that the dependency stored in database dictionary is not linked to the type of DML statement.
For example:
SQL>
SQL> create table t1(x1 int);
Table created.
SQL> create table t2(x2 int);
Table created.
SQL> create procedure p1 is
2 begin
3 insert into t1 values(1);
4 end;
5 /
Procedure created.
SQL> show errors
No errors.
SQL> create procedure p2 is
2 begin
3 update t2 set x2=2 where x2=1;
4 end;
5 /
Procedure created.
SQL> show errors
No errors.
SQL> column name format a10
SQL> column r_name format a10
SQL> select name, type, referenced_name r_name, referenced_type r_type
2 from user_dependencies
3 where name in ('P1','P2') and referenced_type = 'TABLE' and type='PROCEDURE
NAME TYPE R_NAME R_TYPE
P1 PROCEDURE T1 TABLE
P2 PROCEDURE T2 TABLEEdited by: P. Forstmann on 8 mars 2011 18:20

Best Practice to load multiple Tables
Hi,
Am trying to load around 9-10 tables in sql server.all these belong to a single project.
table loads are just select * into destination table,using some joins.
Is it good to have 1 stored proc to load all these tables or individual stored procs to load.
All these tables are independent to each other.
Appreciate your help !If you are using SQL Server 2008 and onwards take a look into this link (Minimal logging)

Loading multiple tables with SQL Loader
Hi,
I want to load multiple tables from a single data file using SQL Loader.
Here's the basic idea of what I want. Let's say I have two tables, table =T1
and table T2:
SQL> desc T1;
COL1 VARCHAR2(20)
COL2 VARCHAR2(20)
SQL> desc T2;
COL1 VARCHAR2(20)
COL2 VARCHAR2(20)
COL3 VARCHAR2(20)
My data file, test.dat, looks like this:
AAA|KBA
BBR|BBCC|CCC
NNN|BBBN|NNA
I want to load the first record into T1, and the second and third record load into T2. How do I set up my control file to do that?
Thank!Tough Job
LOAD DATA
truncate
INTO table t1
when col3 = 'dummy'
FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|'
TRAILING NULLCOLS
(col1,col2,col3 filler char nullif col3='dummy')
INTO table t2
when col3 != 'dummy'
FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|'
(col1,col2,col3 nullif col3='dummy')
This will load t2 tbl but not t1.
T1 Filler col3 is not accepting nullif. Its diff to compare columns have null using when condition. If i find something i will let you know.
Can you seperate records into 2 file. Will a UNIX command work for you which will seperate 2col and 3col record types for you. and then you can execute 2 controlfiles on it.
Thanks,

Extract Data from XML and Load into table using SQL*Loader
Hi All,
We have a XML file (sample.xml) which contains credit card transaction information. We have a standard SQL*Loader control file which loads the data from a flat file and the control file code is written as position based method. Our requirement is to use this control file as per our requirement(i.e) load the data into the table from our XML file), But we need help in converting the XML to a flat file or Extract the data from the XML tags and pass the information to the control file and in turn it loads the table.
Your suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advanceHi,
First of all go to PSA maintanance ( Where you will see PSA records ).
Goto list---> Save-> File---> Spreadsheet (Choose Radio Button)
> Give the proper file name where you want to download and then-----> Generate.
You will get ur PSA data in Excel Format.
Thanks

Query Builder - Find WEBI reports that are using a table
I am trying to find list of WEBI reports using a specific table. This specific table is used in only 1 universe.
Though I could successfully find list of reports that use this universe, I am unable to find drill down further and find the subset of reports using this table/object.
SELECT si_name, SI_KIND, si_id, SI_PARENTID,SI_AUTHOR,SI_OWNER FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS, CI_APPOBJECTS
WHERE PARENTS("SI_NAME='WEBI-UNIVERSE'","SI_NAME ='MyUniverse'")
Is it possible to find the information I am looking for using query builder.
Also, for a given WEBI report I am trying to find the list of report names and the folder they reside in:
Select SI_NAME, SI_ID, SI_PATH, SI_KIND, SI_OWNER From CI_INFOOBJECTS, CI_APPOBJECTS WHERE
PARENTS("SI_NAME='Folder Hierarchy'",
"PARENTS('SI_NAME=''WEBI-UNIVERSE'' ', 'SI_NAME=''MyUniverse'' ')" )
The above query just gives me the folder names. I am looking to find the report names as well the the folder (and preferably the path) in a single query. Is that possible.Sri,
With respect to your 1st requirement:
In BusinessObjects 6.5 it was possible. However, post BOXIR2 this information could not be retrieved from CMS via query builder. I agree with Jorge Sosua's comment above.
With respect to your 2nd requirement:
The field 'SI_PATH' will retrieve Filestore path(physical path). If you were referring logical path(Public folder path or psuedo-reference path) will you please refer my respone to Kelly Stone at BusinessObjects Query builder queries - Part II , If this may assist you.

Hi all
I have a fundamental question regarding loading records into the Fact tables. As you know we always load Dimensions before loading Facts. In our data model, for most of the Fact tables we have a special Dimension that has got the basic attributes in it, along with the source key of the records which are valid in terms of our data warehouse. The source of the Fact table includes the source tables which are involved in loading the Dimension as well.
For example for Student Fact table we have a Student Dimension which is loaded before Student Fact, hence has got the most recent changes (source key of the records which are to be loaded into DW). Now my question is that which options below are more appropriate in loading Student Fact table.
Option 1 - Load Student Fact table using the same source tables that are used in loading records into Student Dimension, ignoring the similar logic has been applied already in Dimension to get valid records from Source and do it again in Fact job.
Option 2 - Inner Join the Student Dimension in the Student Fact ETL job, so it limits the number of source records (coming from Source System) to the validated records which we are interested to load into DW. This option makes loading the Fact table faster, as by contributing the Dimension in loading its corresponding Fact, we don't have to get all records from the source and validate them against the rules again (as it has been done in the Dimension job and now we can use the validated record IDs in Fact job).
As we are new building jobs for a dimensional model, I thought it would be good to ask your opinions and your experience
Thanks in advance,
TootiaI don't see any problem with re-using your "which students do we care about?" logic and rules by borrowing the list of students from the dimension table. You can join to it, or do a lookup() into it and then filter-out nulls (assuming you return a null on a no-match), or use a Validation transform with the "Exists in table" option -- which to use is question of style & performance -- any would work. Indeed, when migrating data into SAP using iDocs, I use a similar idea, always joining the iDoc base segment "map" table to the load of any child segment table to "automatically" filter-out any child segment records not present in the base, re-using the selection logic as you suggest, which then only needs to be built in the base segment. Keeps things tidy.
Best wishes,

How to list the JAR files loaded into the Oracle Database ?
How to list the JAR files loaded into the Oracle Database ?
From 11.1 onwards, the below two views are available to identify the jar files loaded into the Database.
JAVAJAR$
JAVAJAROBJECTS$
By querying the JAVAJAR$ view you can know information about the JAR files loaded into the Database and using JAVAJAROBJECTS$ view you can find all the java objects associated with the given JAR file.
These views are populated everytime you use LOADJAVA with "-jarsasdbobjects" option to load your custom java classes.
But unfortunately this feature is available only from 11.1 onwards and there is no clear workaround for above in 10.2 or earlier. -
Oracle tuning: How to find percentage rows being accessed from a table
Oracle recommends that full table scan on a large table is good if the number of rows being accessed is more than 20%. My question is how to I find out how many rows of the table is being accessed if I have a complex SQL which involves 10 other tables.
Hi,
there are two approaches to SQL tuning. One is to list all things that could possibly be wrong with the database, search for typical solutions, and try them all one by one.
The other is to find out what is taking all the time and work on it.
As I'm sure you've already figured by now, the first approach is unreliable, error-prone, inefficient. In one word, wrong. The only reason it's still around is because:
1) 10 years ago Oracle diagnostic tools weren't as advanced as they are now,
2) some people never learn
3) there's no way to stop these people from writing stupid things on the internet.
So forget all about these unreset HWM, low ratios and other dreadful things that could be wrong with your database code, and focus on things that are wrong. Follow instructions in this forum's FAQ to find the root cause of the problem (if you have questions along the way, post them here, we'd be happy to help). If this leads you to HWM, then fix it. If it doesn't, don't waste your time on it.

How to find List of views that material type supports?
Hello Gurus,
How to find List of views ( Basic Data1, Basic Data2, Sales org1, sales org2, etc.. ) for material types.
is there any table or something to find.
Thanks & Regards
RajYou can search the function module SELECTION_VIEWS_FIND in this forum. You will get the sample code.
Apart from that if only you want to know what are all the views assigned to a material type and try to enhance it then it should be from SPRO.
Go to transaction SPRO.
chose Logistics - General>Material Master>Basic Settings>Material Types>Define Attributes of Material Types
execute and you will get the list of material types.
Now dbl click on the desired material type and you will get an area called as User departments. Here what are all the views are selected those views only appear while you are trying to create (or Change/Display) material master.
