Find locale in Agentry client at client side

Hi
I am working on custom agentry application. In this application I have images which is having English wording. Now I am planning to support multiple language support for my agentry application.
Let me share this idea with you. Currently I am planning to support English and French languages only. I will write a rule on image which will check client locale and depend on that data it will show English or French wording images. Now my problem is I don't find any way (in rules) to find out what is the locale of client. So the other idea is when user first time syn the  data then on server using <<user.*>> data I will able to get the locale of client and capture that data in one of  my object structure may be global variable and then use this locale to show and hide the images.
let me know if there is any other solution and also if above solution is feasible.

You are correct on that you can not use SMDL in rules (the <<user.*>>) instead of a object value, how about overwriting a Global.  The reason why I say this, is because to get it in an object either you have you have a Object Collection under the Main Object to you can fetch to it, or if you have in the Main Object you can't get it by a fetch.
A different option would be to have a complex table with personal information and have that as one of the entries.
Stephen.

    I am writing an Oracle 10g Form to get the path and filename from local PC (Windows XP) by clicking a Command Button, select the folder and files and then pass the full path and the filename to a Text Item.
    Does ORacle10g supports this feature?

  • Why does IE8 running on XP and Win7 Virtual Machine deletes the history while I'm still browsing the same site with client-side hashbang routing?

    Hello,
    I have a asp.net mvc 5 web application running on .net 4.5 hosted on my local windows 8 machine on macbook pro using parallels. I'm running Internet Explorer 8 Version: 8.0.6001.18702 running on XP and Version: 8.0.7601.17514 running on Windows 7 Enterprise.
     I've got both of the virtual machine source from www.modern.ie
    My web application is attempting to provide single page user experience by having some client-side routing by using '#!/xxx' hashbangs in the url so that I can get and post via ajax and change the hash in  the url without causing the page to reload. My
    code works fine in IE9+ and other modern browsers.
    However, I'm facing this strange issue in both of the IE8 versions. When running my demo app in IE8, I can login, view home page and can navigate from this home page to many details page. From the very first login page, all the pages are the result
    of form's post action via ajax which then expects html from server and loads in the DOM. The page structure of my app is like summary form => Details page (can also contain summary forms) => Details...so on.
    The above process works fine for few of the navigation steps. If I keep navigating from one page to another & go back, I have observed that the browser back button is removing the history items slowly. And a time comes when it totally forgets about
    all the history pages that I visited to reach this current page I'm viewing!! It treats like I have just started my browsing session and this current page is the first page I've landed on with no back option. Now if I again try to navigate, I have encountered
    problems like both the back and forward buttons gets disabled.
    Hope, my words above is clear enough to explain this problem. The same application works fine in IE9+ and other browsers.
    Till now, I have tried following steps on both VMs:
    Resetting IE8.
    Increasing disk space to 1024mb for temporary internet files storage.
    Setting 'Never' for Check for newer versions of stored pages.
    Disabling the automatic crash recovery feature didn't helped in this case. Found this on support website.
    Deleted temporary files, history, cache, etc many a times.
    Search many forums, posted question on StackOverflow, ASP.NET
    Forums - but didn't helped.
    Tried 'beforeunload' event of browser to see if any of the page is reloading because of submit or any other reason. But the page doesn't reload at all.
    The issue is browser forgets about the browsing history while I'm still browsing the same site.
    Is there any possible fix for the issue above? Does IE8 have any issues as many ajax form post is happening on every page?

    I have really tried many things to identify any possible reason of the issue above. Even rewrote all my javascript navigation code and checked server-side code.
    But the only place where I got the solution is at site: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/bugs.asp which states that there is a bug in IE8 which reads like:
     IE0012: IE Travellog broken when navigating back/away from a page with
     a large POST form If there is a form input field with a value longer
     than 523,659 characters, when you navigate away from the page, IE may
     clear the current session's travellog (similar to history), disabling
     the back and forward buttons. Repros in IE6 & IE7.
    There are following solutions that you can go for:
    - Check for the input field that has lots of characters as mentioned above and solve your problem.
    - If you have control over the system where IE8 will be used, you can add the following registry key on that machine. There is no existing key, so, you need to add a new one:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TravelLog] "MaxSize"=dword:ffffffff
    I am really relaxed to find this information as I spent really long time to solve this issue. Hope this will help someone.

  • Reporting Services Client-Side Printing

    All my BI users should be able to print SSRS directly from their Local PC. Right now they do not have administrative rights on their PCs.  How do I install  the print- client  SSRS files on the client machines. Also, what and where are the
    files I need to install in order to enable client-side printing. I am using SSRS 2012 SharePoint integrated mode.

    Check out this article...
    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/client-side-printing-silent-deployment-of-rsclientPrint.aspx
    The same concept applies no matter which version of SSRS you are dealing with.  You just need to find the CAB file.  For SSRS 2008 R2 it is in:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin

  • Client-side caching of Javascript (for Google Web Toolkit *.cache.* files

    Hi all,
    I'm trying out the use of Google Web Toolkit (GWT) for AJAX code development, leveraging RPC calling back-end Web Services for a document browser prototype.  When the JavaScript code is generated by GWT, it has the ability to automatically distinguish between cacheable and non-cacheable content via file extensions (.cache. and .nocache.).
    Now when running in a Tomcat environment with appropriate caching settings; the application runs extremely fast even on really poor latency sites (>500ms round trip); however on a NetWeaver stack, I can't find any information on how to set an attribute on .cache. files to set an expiry of 1 year.
    Anyone know how to do this on a NetWeaver J2EE stack?
    Thanks,
    Matt
    PS. For reference, GWT is a very cool open source project worth watching in the Enterprise space for targeted high-usability, high performance apps.  Just the image bundles concept themselves are an awesome approach to minimizing impact of small images on performance.

    Hi again,
    I thought I should post the solution I came up with in case people search on GWT in the future.  In terms of caching, the Portal does a good job of making nearly everything that GWT produces to be cached at the client; and for the life of me, I couldn't get nocache files not cached at the client side.
    So thanks to my friendly local SAP experts in the portal space; I discovered there's not much you can do to get this working except try use standard browser tags like the following to prevent caching on the browser:
    Note - Can't seem to save this post in SDN with Meta tags that I'm trying to display so check out http://www.willmaster.com/library/tutorials/preventing_content_cache.php for more info...
    Unfortunately, the way that GWT creates the nocache files, it is not possible to modify the .js files to do this so I needed an alternative approach.
    Then I thought, well, the html file that includes the JS file is cached, but it's not very big, so how about I just write a script to modify the html file when I deploy to production to point to the nocache file with a date suffix.
    Let me explain in more detail:
    1. The original html file that includes the nocache.js file gets modified to point to nocache.<date>.js.
    2. The original nocache.js file gets changed to nocache.<date>.js
    3. Now produce an external bat file to do this automatically for you before deployment which DevStudio can call as part of an Ant script or similar.
    That's it.  So when you are developing, you can manually delete your cache, but just before you go to production, you do this conversion, and you will never have an issue with clients having the wrong version of javascript files.
    Note - GWT takes care of caching of most of the files by using a GUID equivalenet each time you compile, so it's just a couple of files that really need to not be cached.
    Anyway, I'm not explaining this solution very well, but drop us a line if you need to understand this approach further.
    And lastly, my feedback about GWT - It Rocks!  Everyone loves the result, it's easy to build and maintain, it offers a great user experience, and it's fast.  Not a replacement for transactional apps; but for the occasional user - go for it.

  • Generating feedback messages on server-side vs client-side?

    Hello,
    I am maintening a client/server app (Swing client, no Web pages), basically an order processing system. The biggest part of it is to verify the conformity of orders to a set of business rules.
    As usual, some of the verification can be made early on the client-side, but most of the verification work is done on the server-side. My problem is, I don't find a very satisfactory way to generate the user feedback to be displayed to the user.
    If I generate them as Strings (or HTML Strings) on the server, where the rules are checked, this constrains the way these can be displayed on the client, and makes maintenance of the human-readable strings awkward and risky (e.g. localization, or restructuring the messages, like sorting them by severity vs by affected entity).
    If I generate them on the client, I need a class to vehicle the diagnosis form server to client, and this class and its usage tends to become awkward in itself.
    Concretely:
    The initial version generated human-readable strings on the server, which assumed the messages would be displayed as strings in a JOptionPane.
    Moreover, the logic evolved to distinguish between Info, Warning and Error messages, to be displayed in different colors of course, so the Strings evolved into HTML Strings, still generated on the server.
    Do you think this approach is safe?
    I'm afraid a simple maintenance of the strings (like, sorting the errors by severity vs by affected entity, filtering the strings,...) becomes a server-side development, which is a bit more risky (I would have to review code ownership policies, VCS and code-sharing policies,... to let less experienced staff maintain the darn error Strings).
    Moreover, if the client app evolve to display the errors in complex widgets (colors in a tree/table, with tooltips), the server-side generated HTML strings would be constraining : coloring or tooltipping Tree nodes would now mean parsing the String to extract the "error level" or the "affected entity", which is quite inelegant and inflexible.
    My current idea was then to use a collecting parameter to collect validation messages on the server, and traverse them on the client:
    I designed a naive ErrorList class, with methods such as addInfo(String), addWarning(String), addError(Strin), and the corresponding getErrors() and hasErrors()/hasWarnings() methods. I can then generate the Strings (or whatever widget fits better, such as a table) on the client side. Moreover, I can add the client-side messages to the bag...
    All nice and well, but the customer requested that the error messages be formatted such as "The profile <profile name in bold> does not allow you to order service <service name in italics>".
    To format that on the client, my ErrorList class should evolve so that for a given message, I know that the error is of type ("incompatibility between profile and service", that the service is X and the prodile is Y).
    That forces me to add in some API (shared by the client and server) the list of error types, and the data each error type requires.
    I can evolve my ErrorList API to break up messages into a DTO giving (type, affected entity, arg1, arg2,...), but anyway the server and client have to agree on what is arg1, etc... which is a hidden coupling.
    Do you use and recommend such an approach for server-to-client feedback: a collecting parameter in which the server puts the "errors", and that the client traverses to display the messages)? In particuler, isn't the coupling hard to maintain?
    Thansk in advance,
    J.

    Presumably you are not over-engineering in that you
    know that localization is a problem rather than that
    in all possible worlds in might be.I appreciate your delicate questioning... I definitely have read much ruder ways to say YAGNI to a poster...
    I do know that the customer will knit-pick to reword and reformat the messages. But I won't need to translate the messages to other locales. In that regard, I ackowledge my usage of the term localization is a bit liberal, but I think I should to extract the messages from the code, to be able to maintain them separately - keeping only experienced staff's hand in the server's core.
    That is actually my question 1): from experience, is it worth the trouble to separate code and human-readable text, knowing that the text WILL have to be maintained?
    Question 2 is about how to implement this.
    In particular, the built-in MessageFormat templating engine, though originally introduced for i18n, actually suits my needs (including MessageFormat-built messages) and developing or using any other templating engine would probably be an overkill.
    Given that there are two types of messages.
    1. Fixed
    2. Parameter driven.
    In both cases you need to return an id which
    identifies the message. The client has a locale
    specific resource source which has a matching id.
    From there a string is derived.
    If the error requires parameters then the string has
    formatting values in it and it s written with the
    returned parameters. See java.text.MessageFormat.Yes. In some cases I don't know yet whether parameters will be displayed. I can conservatively assume the message requires a MessageFormat, and give all parameters (in my case, use rname, profile name, command id, service name, order date,...), whether thay are displayed or not in the final message.
    Be warned you MUST deal with the possibility that a
    id does not exist in the client, if so have a default
    message that displays the id and any parameters.Good point.
    "The customer name field can not be longer than 15
    characters".
    In the above the "15" would a parameter.Yes. The trouble is, you have to document somewhere (Sun suggests in the resource bundle file), that for error id #123456, the number of characters in in the '{0}', or in the {6}. I don't feel confident with that (this is the "coupling" part in my question 2).
    Thanks for your advices.

  • Net Use in Script Client Side Extension

    Hi,
    I just rebuild my home Network. In my old home Network I had my loginscripts added to each user in AD. However - now I want to move my Loginscripts to GPO. So I added a batch to User Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Logon
    The script is just a simple net use Batch.
    But after logon and multiple GPUpdates - drives were not mapped. So I started to troubleshoot.
    First I thought the script wasn't started. And yes there were some Problems:
    - Sync Processing,
    - Local Intranet for \\domain.name\sysvol
    But it still didn't work. Executing the script from
    \\domain.name\sysvol... mapped the drives.
    So I changed the script to vbs and added a msgbox now() - and I got a messagebox during logon. But still no drives mapped.
    If I map the drive by Configuration\Preferences\Windows Settings\Drive Maps - the drives will be mapped.
    If I add the script to the user object in AD - I also works.
    So maybe I am wrong - but is there a Problem to map drives in Script Client Side Extensions?
    I searched the web - but didn't find a clear Statement.
    thx in advance

    Hi,
    Since the issue persists when you turned off UAC, I suggest you could try to enable the following policy setting “Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon”
    to see if it works at this time. You could configure it from the following path in GPMC:
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\. For details, please refer to the following article.
    Description of the Windows Fast Logon Optimization feature
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305293
    In addition, I suggest you’d better map these drives via GPP. It will reduce your logon scripts. Here is an article as reference, hope it helps.

  • What permissions are needed on the client side for RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace?

    Hi.
    I am running a remote powershell command from an IIS application to an Exchange server getting the below error. Everything works fine if the IIS application pool identity is in the local administrators group on the IIS server so we can rule out issues with
    firewall or anything on the Exchange server. It is a problem with lack of privileges on the local server.
    So my question is: What permissions are required on the local server for RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace? I find good documentation on the permissions required on the server side, but nothing about the client side.
    The last Win32 error code after failure is 1008.
    An internal error occurred.

    Thanks Daniel.
    I see that the IIS server has a GPO setting 'Allow log on locally' to the local administrators group for this server. I will order add of the IIS app pool identity to this list.
    I tried the process monitor comparing runs with and without the app pool identity as local administrator. The runs are identical up to the point where one does something useful and the other closes 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WSMAN'.
    There are no failures.

  • How to generate rule log on client side

    I am looking for a solution where I could generate a rule log and make it available on client side. I know generating a log during consolidation and save it on server. However, I want to make it available on client side.
    I have created four scenarios in HFM application, namely -
    1. ACTUAL_REPORTING - To capture TB data and use it for reporting
    2. ACTUAL_ICP - To capture ICP data and run custom business rule as per requirement
    3. ACTUAL_ADDINPUT - To capture additional memorandum inputs
    During consolidation,data is copied from ACTUAL_ICP and ACTUAL_ADDINPUT to ACTUAL_REPORTING. However, problem is that user should consolidate ACTUAL_ICP AND ACTUAL_ADDINPUT scenarios first. If they miss executing the consolidation in these scenarios, then the data copied would be wrong. Just as to ensure this, there's a provision is HFM to check calculation status in rule file and looking at that, calcuation could be stopped and a message could be sent to the user. But delimma is, how to report the same on the user side.
    Possible solution that I could have thought are -
    1. To generate a rule log and post the same to the client, but how to do this? As path of the rule log could be of the server only (that is C:\Hyperion\Logs\Rule)
    2. To generate a rule log and pop a web page terminating consolidation, but how to do this?
    3. To raise an error from the rule file and direct it to the system messages, but how to to this?
    Please advice and any further clarification is required please contact me.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mustafa

    You can define the output folder as a share, which has already been mentioned. I strongly advise against implementing any solution that in production will regularly generate an external file.
    1) The output file is generated by the DCOM user. If you want this user to generate a file in a specific location, it must be writeable by the DCOM user, and readable by the intended human user. Make sure both NTFS and share level permissions on the target file and its containing folder consider this. Latency for the file write can degrade performance.
    2) Most HFM implementations have two or more HFM application servers. You have no control over which server will execute the file, and also no control over what happens if two or more servers try to write to the same file. You can create a process which causes HFM to become single threaded if every time Sub Calculate for any entity on any server needs to open a single file. This is because the file object is single threaded. It could be multi-threaded if you write out to a database, but certainly far more complex.
    3) Wait state: while as in #2, this can single thread the process, and you have to consider whether your process will error out during moments when another process has access to the file, or if you will ignore that and simply proceed. This can have a significant impact on performance time if you decide to wait until the file becomes available.
    While I have done implementations where the overall solution required combining data across multiple scenarios, I consistently find this a cumbersome, error-prone, and poorly performing approach. For this reason, I always try to keep all of the data required in a single scenario. This is one key reason why the "DataSource" or "DataType" (or whatever you call it) approach is so popular and successful.
    Finally, you cannot write to the HFM system messages. You can, on the other hand, use Calc Manager to write out to a system log.

  • How can i load file into database from client-side to server-side

    i want to upload file from client-side to server-side, i use the following code to load blob into database.
    if the file is in the server-side, it can work, but if it in the client-side, it said that the system cannot find the file. i think it only will search the file is in the server-side or not, it will not search the client-side.
    how can i solve it without upload the file to the server first, then load it into database??
    try
    ResultSet rset = null;
    PreparedStatement pstmt =
    conn.prepareStatement ("insert into docs values (? , EMPTY_BLOB())");
    pstmt.setInt (1, docId);
    pstmt.execute ();
    // Open the destination blob:
    pstmt.setInt (1, docId);
    rset = pstmt.executeQuery (
    "SELECT content FROM docs WHERE id = ? FOR UPDATE");
    BLOB dest_lob = null;
    if (rset.next()) {
    dest_lob = ((OracleResultSet)rset).getBLOB (1);
    // Declare a file handler for the input file
    File binaryFile = new File (fileName);
    FileInputStream istream = new FileInputStream (binaryFile);
    // Create an OutputStram object to write the BLOB as a stream
    OutputStream ostream = dest_lob.getBinaryOutputStream();
    // Create a tempory buffer
    byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
    int length = 0;
    // Use the read() method to read the file to the byte
    // array buffer, then use the write() method to write it to
    // the BLOB.
    while ((length = istream.read(buffer)) != -1)
    ostream.write(buffer, 0, length);
    pstmt.close();
    // Close all streams and file handles:
    istream.close();
    ostream.flush();
    ostream.close();
    //dest_lob.close();
    // Commit the transaction:
    conn.commit();
    conn.close();

    Hi,
    Without some more details of the configuration, its difficult to know
    what's happening here. For example, what do you mean by client side
    and server side, and where are you running the upload Java application?
    If you always run the application on the database server system, but can't
    open the file on a different machine, then it sounds like a file protection
    problem that isn't really connected with the database at all. That is to
    say, if the new FileInputStream (binaryFile) statement fails, then its not
    really a database problem, but a file protection issue. On the other hand,
    I can't explain what's happening if you run the program on the same machine
    as the document file (client machine), but you can't write the data to the
    server, assuming the JDBC connection string is set correctly to connect to
    the appropriate database server.
    If you can provide some more information, we'll try to help.

  • Print text file to  client side printer

    Hi all,
    I have a character mode report which will print to a client side dot matrix printer in 6i. After converted to 10g, we cannot print to the client side printer (because we don't want to map so many print queue from the AS).
    So, I try to generate the report to a text file, then use webutil to transfer the txt file to the client PC, and then use Client_HOST to call the window PRINT command to print the text file to the client side printer.
    I have test this is successful, however, when I try to do the same thing to a report with Vietnam character, then it is not.
    The print request is sent to the printer, but the printer have no response.
    But that file can be print successfully if I open in Notepad and then print manually.
    I try to use window TYPE command and COPY command, but still have no luck.
    Can anyone give me some suggestions for this....
    Thanks!

  • How to Print Crystal Report without any dialog message on the client side

    Hi!
    I've read too much questions like this, but i can't find any answer.
    How can i print a report on the client side directly?
    I have three buttons, "Generate Report", "Generate PDF", "Print".
    I want when the "Print" button was clicked, automaticaly the report is printed using default printer, like PrintToPrinter function, but in the client side.
    Thanks!

    If you search for previous posts about this, you will see many posts saying not possible.  If this functionality was possible, you could essentially have a page that would send something to a clients printer just by visiting the page, how bad of security hole would that be?
