Finding last update of record

Hello,
Our DBA wants to know which records have been updated since the last backup so that he can back up only those records that have been added/changed on the next backup. He is putting a column called Timestamp in each table he wants to do this for. The field will be filled with sysdate on insert/change by a trigger in order that he can know which to select for back up. My question is, does oracle (8.1.6) have any built in method for tracking the time that records have been updated? Perhaps in the system tables or views?

Hi,
as far as I know, Oracle 8 has a feature to do incremental backups. But I think they perform it on the change og DB Blocks not on DB Rows.

If I have a table with accounts, users and last_on_date, how can I find the user who accessed an account most recently.
Say, the table is as follows:
a/c user c_date
a1 u1 03/04/2007

a2 u3 03/05/2007

a2 u2 03/06/2007
a3 u3 04/05/2007
What query would fetch the following:

The OP asked for the most recent user of a particular account not the most recent access of each user to each account.
so this would do the trick:

I should point out that there are two attributes of all AD objects that can help you track down the correct information in the system logs. These are the whenCreated and whenChanged attributes. This will tell when the object was created and when it was last
modified, which should help when you search the logs. Also, while whenCreated is replicated to all DC's, so they will all have the exact same creation time, the whenChanged attribute is technically not replicated. The date/time on each DC reflects when
the last modification was replicated to that DC. The values will differ slightly on each DC, reflecting how long it took for the change to replicate.

The Personal Hotspot feature is not available on the iPad 2. I have no idea how you could have been using it before as you claim. BTW, your screenshots do not show up.

Since I installed the last update, ITunes no longer finds my iPhone when it is pluged in my laptop. I can longer sync my calander and Outlook!
Why is that and can this be fix?

Since the last update my iphone 5 can no longer find my devices.

Since I last updated my iphone 5 iOS to 6.1.3, airplay on my panasonic HC-57 dock has stopped working. So has my wireless HP photosmart C4380 printer ePrinter app. The iphone can no longer find either of them. I have tried rebooting. I have tried re-loading the drivers and apps. I have tried everything. Before they worked perfectly. I could play music and print whatever I wanted. I have just tried updating to iOS 6.1.4 and this has made no difference either.#
What is more, I have purchased the iphone 5 30-pin to lightning adaptor from the Apple store, and it wont let me play music on my panasonic dock through I direct connection either. It only allows charging.
Please find a solution as this change in software by Apple has rendered my new panasonic dock and printer useless.

For Starters this a user forum no Apple response to complaints on here
I suggest you start by restoring with a back up and if that fails restore as new
especially if you updated over the air rather than iTunes
A restore will install a fresh iOS 6.1.3 rather than a patch update

What is the business requirement you're trying to satisfy?
It doesn't really make sense to talk about DML on a data file. DML is applied to an object. That object resides in one or more tablespaces. Each tablespace has one ore more data files. So if you update table T which has partitions P1 and P2 in tablespaces TS1 and TS2 and each tablespace has two data files DF1 - DF4, are you really looking to determine when there was DML on T? On P1 or P2? On TS1 or TS2? Or do you really care which data file a particular update affected? What are you going to do with that information?
And are you really only concerned with DML? Not DDL? Or checkpoints? Or other things that cause the data file to change?
And does DML in this case include queries? What about SELECT FOR UPDATE statements?

There may be an easier way but if you are trying to get info on something that has already happened look at your redo logs and archived logs. It would be hard but in V$LOGMNR_CONTENTS you could find the max time for a given object. Note to use this you need to set up log miner. Since you did not give a version try the Oracle 9i DBA Guide pg 9-1.
