Finding my trace files
Hi,
When Several users create trace files simultaneously,How to find my trace files?
Thanks
You could try "select userenv('sessionid'),userenv('TERMINAL') from dual;" . Then grep -l value *.trc files to find those relevant.

Find out TRACE file of a session
Hi,
I'm generating trace file of a session (not the session where I'm login into) by the following command..
EXEC DBMS_SUPPORT.start_trace(sid=>123, serial=>1234, waits=>TRUE, binds=>FALSE);
Now, after start tracing I cannot find out the trace file which is generated for SID=123.
Can you help me to find out the trace file? I mean, is there anyway to find out the trace file name for SID=123?
Thanks,
Anjanhi,

Hi,
I am trying to log in, with the user name and password... I am not able to log in to server...
Main issue is the database is not created as per standard path... I want to find the trace files in unix... How it is possible..
Thanks and Regards..If you are able to login to database then check what is the value for these parameters where the trace file is created (user_dump_dest, background_dump_dest, db_recovery_file_dest)
Also use the unix 'find' command to search for the alert log file and .trc files.

Can't find the application trace file
Hi,
I know the xi.log but where will trace statements like TRACE.debugT(...) in our xi module adapter application be written?
We can't find the trace file.
We searched in the log viewer and on the file system by itself.
Did we configure something wrong?
In the log configurator of the visual administrator I selected in advanced mode the MIN, MAX and Severity to DEBUG.
The suggested destination I did't change.
I defined also a relative controller with the controller name 'Debug'.
But after saving the node and testing we can't find the trace file.
Do we have to configure something else beside this?
Does anybody have an idea?
Thanks, regards
SusanneAfter creation of your location-destination-formatter
Go to Visual Administrator Server>Kernel > LogManager and set ForceSingleTraceFile to NO. I think a restart will be required. -
A critical program error has occurred. BEx Analyzer. Cannot find trace file
I have now spent about 20 hours trying to resolve this issue. I receive the following error message when attempting to open any BEx Query: u201CA critical program error has occurred. The program will now terminate. Please refer to the trace for further information()u201D. Iu2019ve provided a video example of the scenario (couple minutes long): http://www.altnetwork.net/misc/Analyzer%20Critical%20Error.html
I cannot find the trace file in the standard C:\DOCUME1\BaldwiJE\LOCALS1\Temp\BexAnalyzerTrace.txt path. I cannot set/change the path/name of the trace file because the Trace File Name text box is grayed out (disabled) in BEx Analyzer > Global Options (see the above flash video link). I know that I am using the same Business Explorer and GUI build as my colleagues and I am able to login with my ID on their machines and not receive an error. We are using SAP BW 7.01 and I am using Excel 2007. I have entirely reinstalled Microsoft Excel, and the SAP Frontend including Business Explorer and SAP GUI. Iu2019ve monitored using both windows process monitor and windows process explorer but nothing is readily apparent as an issue (glad to share the process information if someone thinks it might help). No relevant event logs in the Windows event viewer.
Per the sapbexc.xla file, my system configuration is as follows:
Computer Name: DEN-SSI-SYS-L61
File Location: C:\DOCUME1\BaldwiJE\LOCALS1\Temp\sapBEX_PC_0614_103147.xls
Check done on: 6/14/2011 10:31:47 AM
Excel Version: Excel 2007 (12.0.6535.5002)
Windows Version: Windows 2000 (2195) Theme: %SystemRoot%\resources\Themes\Windows Classic.theme
Default Browser: Internet Explorer (7.0.6000.17093)
SAP GUI: 720 Patch 1Resolved! It actually seemed to be related to my windows profile. I notice that if a co-worker logged into windows on my machine that he was able to run the same BEx queries that I couldn't. I renamed my profile folder at c:\documents and settings\<myaccountname> to ...<myaccountname.bak>. I did this using a local administrator account on my computer. Then I logged back in to windows using my AD credentials. A new profile was created and then I was able to use BEx Analyzer again.
I also went back and tried to reload everything from my .bak profile into the newly created folder under documents and settings and hoped that I could isolate what specifically was causing the issue. However, even after moving everything over to my newly created profile I could not get the error to generate again. Sorry.
Highly recommend to anyone with the same issue that you confirm that a new profile works by a) having someone else login to your computer who has not already logged in before b) if that works, replace your c:\documents and settings\<myaccountname> folder.
Thanks to all who offered support.

I am looking for a sql script or method to find the name of a trace file in udump for trace enabled concurrent programs. I know the trace files show 11i logon (user_name from fnd_user) in the name of the trace file but I am looking for a sql that would give the exact name of the raw trace file with request id as input.
I have 11.5.10.2.

How to get the trace file name for current running application?
Hi, I want to know if it is possible to get the file name directly for current running application instance which is launched by javaws.
There is a property "deployment.user.logdir" tells the log directory, it would be great if a file name property
is available. something like "instance.trace.file".
Our application wants it because we would like our client send use the application log by clicking a "send error"
button, the codes finds the trace file and compress it and send it by using a smtp server.
In 1.5, we can do it by using a shell program.I found other asked it before, but I tried to set both properties, but neither works. my sun JRE version :java version "1.6.0_04"
<property
name="deployment.javaws.traceFileName"
value="abcfefsfdsf"/>
<property
name="deployment.javapi.trace.filename"
value="235235235"/>
But it always write to one trace file with name lik javaws63645.trace -

Could be a problem indication, more likely not. Appears to be Resource Manager trace files, the resource manager doesn't have much effect on the instance until the host is getting starved for resources, then the engine can throttle down resources given to different resource groups.

Trace file not Generated.
Hey Guys,
I am using oracle 10g and trying to generate a trace file.
Using sql_Plus I can see that timed_statistics is set to true, max_dump_file_size is set to unlimited, and user_dump_dest is set to C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ADMIN\ORCL\DUMP.
In Oracle SQL Developer I am running the script:
alter session set sql_trace = true;
... PL/SQL block that I want to trace...
alter session set sql_trace = false;
After this sql runs without error there is no file on my computer at the user_dump_dest. In fact the path under user_dump_dest does not even exist. Do I have to create the path first? Am I looking in the wrong location? Am I doing something wrong when setting sql_trace?
Thanks,
IanIn fact the path under user_dump_dest does not even exist.Perhaps this is the source of the mystery.
If Oracle has no place to actually write the file, how should it proceed?
as a proof of concept do the following
ALTER SESSION SET SQL_TRACE=TRUE;
show parameter dump
SELECT SYSDATE FROM DUAL;
ALTER SESSION SET SQL_TRACE=FALSE;
now find the trace file
post results from session above

Trace file and control files !!
hi,
I have created trace file of the control files by using 'alter database backup controlfile to trace' command. i have two questions..where can i find this trace file and how can i use this trace file to generate the control files.
Waiting for the replies...
Regards,
Saad Bin Khalid1. You can fine the trace in the udump folder ... you can check the file time stamp to check when you created the file as it may be possible that here are other user trace files too
$ sqlplus / as sysdba
SQL> alter database backup controlfile to trace;
Database altered.
SQL> show parameter USER_DUMP_DEST
NAME TYPE VALUE
user_dump_dest string /PROD/udump
SQL> exit
$ cd /PROD/udump
$ mv PROD_ora_30823.trc cr_ctl.sql
$ vi cr_ctl.sql
edit the control file script
Now you have a new control file script to re-create your control file.
2. You can edit the same and execute at nomount stage to generate new controlfiles ... remember controlfiles should be removed before creating the new ones -
Hi All,
Our db is 2 nodes RAC db on window 2003 server. The database version is 10.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition. My question is: we have the following messages in our db alert log but when I tried to look into the trace file I can’t find the trace file in that directory at all. Then I did the search and found this file in Recycle Bin folder. So I restored the file to d:\oracle\admin\avprod\bdump\ directory. The strange thing is that the modify date of the file is 9/26/09 but it contains data from 10/01/09. Can anybody tell me what is going here? Why this trace file can’t be regenerated after deletion?

If not, the of course You will find no trace file, just the possible name will be returned and path.
For first enable tracing, then look at trace directory for particular file.
And / is returned just because script is for unix. In your case you should replace it with \ as it is windows env.
and it's easier to identify trace files just adding some identifier to them with
alter session set tracefile_identifier ="some_name";
then in udump dierctory just search for this name. -
How to find out the Trace file
Hi Dba's
I need to find out the trace file with the Request id. how can i find out it?
ThanksThere are many ways to create a trace file in the apps. Pl provide details on how you enabled trace, as that will determine where the trace file is created.Concurrent requests trace files are always created under USER_DUMP_DEST directory.
