Firefox 3.6.15 keeps stuttering or hanging for a few seconds constantly but its only firefox and nothing else on the computer

I have been using firefox 3.6.15 with no problems since it came out. But just recently it has started to hang or freeze for a few seconds about every 10 seconds. Everything else on the computer still works nothing else is frozen just Firefox. I haven't added anything new to firefox or installed any programs. Adblock Plus and Stumbleupon are the two addons I use.

I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP! Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process. Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal. No flashing yellow screen anymore!!

Firefox hangs for a few seconds when trying to pause videos or skip ads on Youtube.

Hello all!
My problem is that YouTube sort of hangs for a few seconds when I try to pause a video or skip ahead or skip ads. The video freezes while the audio keeps playing until, after say 5 seconds, youtube finally does what I tell it to do.
This doesn't happen if the video is embedded on a different website, nor does it happen on Vimeo, Dailymotion etc. I can play YouTube videos perfectly while using Chrome, IE and a Windows 8 Youtube app I have.
After the initial freeze all commands start working very well, at least until I open a new video.
I noticed that a lot of people are having trouble with youtube while using firefox and I've tried a few things:
- uninstalling and reinstalling flash and java
- starting Firefox in safe mode
- using different antivirus software
- reinstalling Firefox
I read that this might be a problem caused by the whole Google being all buddy-buddy with Adobe thing, but I'm skeptical.
So, is there any way to get YouTube to work properly?

Im using firefox 3.6.18 and when i open website it hangs for a few seconds...

im surfing at myanimelist.net and when i loads the pages, it hangs for a few seconds and stop... then hangs again (not responding).. i disable all the plugins but it still the same.. and ive deleted .dat files of plugins suggested by troubleshoot but the same problem still persist... please fix this bug thanks..

The speed of image searching isn't a problem for me. The trouble is, the automatic zoom function is lightning fast and I find it disturbing to the point that it makes me feel very ill.
I very much want a way of suppressing it.

FF 30.0 hangs for a few seconds when opening new window

It did not start with 30.0 but I upgraded in the hope that it would solve the situation.
Every time I open a new window FF hangs for a few seconds. It does not hang opening a new tab!
I tried the steps described in the above topic but they did not work.
if I open the console and type
gSnippetsMap.clear()
the result is
undefined.
If I type

the result is

Short addition:
After the new window is opened I can type a few characters (max 5) into the searchbar. Only from then the hang begins.

When I open itunes it freezes for a few seconds then says iTunes stopped working and closes down. I have tried downloading the latest version, both repair and remove and it still keeps happening

Tried the un-install and getting the same problem although it takes a bit longer before it crashes this time. Checked the problem report and it looks the same as the previous reports.

Safari 5.1.7 Bookmarks - adding or changing hangs for a few seconds

Hello all -
Safari 5.1.7 - osx 10.7.4 - MBA
Safari hangs when adding a bookmark or deleting/changing order/moving to new folders etc.
Hangs for about 5 seconds and then completes the task.
It will do the first change just fine, then any further bookmarks adds/changes will hang the browser.
I've tried all the suggested steps, clear cache, reset etc.
Problem comes right back.
Suggestions?

Firefox 4 randomly hangs for a few seconds

When im browsing, Firefox 4 randomly hangs for ~10 seconds saying its "Not Responding", then it returns to normal.
I dont seem to see a pattern on when it hangs, sometimes its when i open new pages, sometimes im just scrolling, sometimes i'm not doing anything...
It didnt seem to happen before i updated to FFx 4
My best guess is it happens when its trying to "Sync"?
It's not that bad, but it gets annoying after a while.

It is also possible that Firefox is doing maintenance to places.sqlite (bookmarks and history). If you keep a large history or have a lot of bookmarks then you can check that out as well. Also make sure that security (anti-virus) software isn't blocking access to files in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder].

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

With many open tabs (80+) Firefox regularly (every 10sec) hangs for a few seconds because of session storing where the CPU is at 100%. Btw that is the reason why videos in Firefox are hanging every 10sec, too. Why is this operation so demanding?

When I'm using Firefox for a long time and I'm working with several open windows and many open tabs (80+), Firefox hangs/freezes every 10sec for 1-3sec. This is very annoying. The reason for this seems to be the session store operation, which gets executed every 10sec. In my experience (or rather on my computer) this isn't noticeable when I'm just working with around 40 open tabs.
This also seems to be the reason for hanging videos in firefox (although youtube is quite robust; others are not) because they stop every 10sec, too. For this time (the 1-3sec) the taskmanager tells me that firefox is using all the available cpu power. I'm really wondering why the session store operation has such an influence on Firefox' behaviour.
My computer is a Core 2 Duo E6600 with 3GB RAM and a decent hdd.

Just some additional info:
I just had the problem again, and it even occurred when I did not have any tab open! I did not even use Firefox, but just wanted to start to use it, but it did not respond. There was _nothing_ open, and when I checked the TaskManager, the memory consumption was up to 300 MB, and the CPU was again at 100%. After the CPU was down to 0% again, the memory slowly decreased as well. First, to ~260, then to ~200, now to ~170 MB. Maybe it will decrease even further...

Why does my cursor keep disappearing on Firefox (and nothing else) when it's not being moved?

If I'm not moving the cursor it disappears entirely, which is highly annoying. It only does this on Firefox, nothing else. It went through a permanently flickering period before this, too.

Thanks for the advice, AmazingBeast - I think that probably would have worked. I isolated the problem eventually to a particular web page I'd been using a lot and had kept open. Once I closed it everything was fine again, although it means whenever I want to look at that page I have to put up with the Disappearing Cursor!

T410 hangs for a few seconds

My T410 hangs for ~2 seconds at random intervals from 3 minutes to 30 minutes.
Cursor freezes whether using wired or wireless mouse.
Any ideas of where to start my problem solving?

I would suspect power manager, cpu throttling. Does it happen when using "maximum performance"? Does it happen more often when on battery power?
There are alot of things which cause cause a momentary pause, a poor behaving device driver, an application which is taking too much processor time at too high a priority (again usually device drivers). If this happens with any predictable frequency it may be useful to have your task manager loaded and see what applications/services are taking system time up.

InDesign CS6 hangs for a few seconds when transforming group (OSX 10.8)

I'm testing InDesign CS6 under OS X 10.8. Seems to work without problems - except one thing which I noticed several times while working on a document (that I was working on under 10.7 as well, without problems):
I transform a group of objects (mostly placed Illustrator EPS) by dragging one corner of the group (with one or more modifier keys). After a few moments InDesign gets unresponsive (it freezes, cursore won't move, although you can change apps via Alt+Tab). Activity monitor shows 100% CPU usage (for one CPU core, at least). After a few seconds, everything goes back to normal.
Process analysis looks sth like that (it goes on and on like this):
This might be a problem related to this very document. On the other hand, this worked flawlessly under 10.7. So maybe someone at Adobe wants to look into that?

In the meanwhile, I opened another document that contains the same group of objects. No hangs here. So this might indeed be a problem related to the document itself.

Adobe reader hanging for a few seconds after opening, what's the cause?

Hello, I have the following problem: I open a pdf file in Adobe Reader and initially it woks fine, I can navigate and so on, but after about 20 s it suddenly gets like frozen so that I can do nothing but wait until when after about 15 s it recovers and I can continue reading and moving around. It is just an annoyance since it happens every time I open a document. I have installed several actualizations (icluding the last one) of the program but the problem is still there. It is like if some conflictive process starts shortly after the openning and after it finnishes the program works fine again. I have looked in the tasks administrator to see if I find some parallel process that may start itself but as far as I can see nothing more starts after AcroRd32.exe.
Some idea?

If you have a packet sniffing tool like Fiddler or Wireshark, could just see if Reader is trying to access something on network?

Firefox hangs after a few seconds

When I open a site like Youtube or some livestreams, Firefox quits working after a few seconds. I can only close it with Task Manager.
I've tried all possibilities from Firefox help, nothing works. The problem seems not to depend on any configurations, Add-Ons or Plugins.
I've deleted Malware and also tried de-installation and new installation, but the problem is still on board.
I hope anyone can help me :-(

Firefox freezes every few minutes for a few seconds.

Firefox keeps freezing every few minutes, for a few seconds at a time. It's infuriating. It just happened right now while I was typing "infuriating". It's happened since I installed the Facebook Video Chat Plug-In, but I uninstalled that and it keeps happening.

Probably an over active security or "cleaning" program that's kicking in every few minutes and messing with Firefox.
