Firefox 3.6 is running in safe mode . How do i change this.

I want to delete Firefox 3.6 and try Firefox 4 beta. Firefox 3.6 is running in safe mode and i am unable to delete i. I do not want to have both Firefox 3.6 and Firefox 4 beta on my computer at the same time.

So irritating when the window is mis-positioned. Two suggestions:
'''-- New window method --'''
(1) With the Firefox icon active, press Alt+Spacebar and then the letter x to maximize. The Firefox window should appear full screen.
(2) Copy the following line of script code to the clipboard:
<br>newwin=window.open(window.location.href);newwin.moveTo(0,0);
(3) Press Ctrl+Shift+k to open the web console.
(4) Press Ctrl+v to paste the line of code then press Enter to run it. A new copy of the same page should open in a window positioned at the top left of the screen.
(5) Switch back to the maximized window and close it. Firefox should remember the new window's position.
'''-- Rename file method --'''
Note: this will reset all your toolbars to their default settings as well as clearing the last window position.
(1) With the Firefox icon active, press Alt+Spacebar and then the letter x to maximize. The Firefox window should appear full screen.
(2) Open your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
(3) Switch back to Firefox and exit the program (e.g., Firefox > Exit or File > Exit)
(4) Wait a few moments for Firefox to finish updating files in your settings folder, then rename '''localstore.rdf''' to something else, like localstore-bad.rdf or localstore.old.
(5) You're done here. You can close this window and restart Firefox.

Not sure what behavior you are exactly looking for, to move the clip and have it stop and the next clip in the direction of travel, drag the clip with the mouse with Snapping turned on in the timeline.

  • I changed Java settings and now Firefox crashes as it opens, even in safe mode; how can I fix this?

I was trying to change settings to access the comments section of Slate.com. Right or wrong, I changed a Java setting from -1 to 2. The setting was in about:config and I believe it involved some sort of max. As I cannot open anything, I am not sure.
When I made the change, firefox crashed immediately, Every time I have tried to reopen, even in safe mode, it immediately crashes again and will not reopen.

    Hi pternagy,
    Sorry you are having problems.
For future reference. Those of us that mess directly with about:config soon learn how to recover from mistakes and what it is sensible to backup. Occasionally backing up your entire profile for instance can be useful and would have probably given you a quick solution of copying over the file from that backup.
*[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
Ok on to the subject of trying to get Firefox back as it was:
Find your profile and the file ''prefs.js'' and rename that. (The renamed file is a potentially useful backup.) Firefox is then forced to regenerate the file and will reset your preferences to the default. You can then re open and use Firefox. Next try to get it back to normal.
Trying to manually edit the file ''prefs.js'' is normally a bad idea. However if it is a single pref change it may be possible to directly edit the prefs.js file (whilst Firefox is closed) to get everything back to how it was before . You have the renamed file to work with. Probably best to test all this out in a new additional profile then you only break additional test profiles not working profiles essential to Firefox.
    These articles should help you:

Please post back with how you get on and whether you need any extra help.

  • Firefox will not start, even in Safe Mode. Evidence suggests that this is due to an incompatibility with the latest update of Java.

Firefox will not start in WinXP. (I am sending this from an alternate browser.)
I believe that this is due to some incompatibility with the latest update of Java. I believe that one of the tabs from my previous session included a Java application, and this is causing the difficulty. In recent days, since the last update of Java, I have had difficulty in loading linked pages with Java applications into Firefox, and have needed to switch to a different browser to do this.
Now I cannot even start the browser, presumably due to the presence of a Java application on one of the restored tabs.
When I now try to start Firefox, my ZoneAlarm security s/w presents the message "Java(TM) Quick Starter binary is trying to access the Internet." I click "Allow", but Firefox will not start. If I click "Deny", the same result. The same thing happens when I try to start Firefox in Safe Mode, I cannot even start Firefox in Safe mode.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== after recent update of Java

You can try to disable the Java Quick starter and the Java Console extension in the Control Panel > Java.
Control Panel > Java > Advanced tab > Miscellaneous >Java Quick Starter (disable)
You can also disable the Java plugin in Firefox: Tools > Add-ons > Plugins
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    See [[Troubleshooting plugins]]

  • When I click on a link, Firefox opens a new window for that link, how do I change this setting?

I am unaware of having made any changes to my settings before this started. The best way I can describe it is that simply clicking on a link causes it to "open link in new window" rather than simply "open"

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Although I have downloaded the English-language version of Firefox, the bookmarks settings appear in Dutch. How do I change this?

I downloaded the Dutch version first, then realized I needed the English-language version. OK, uninstalled then installed the correct ones. All settings now appear in English except that the bookmarking/favorites settings are still in Dutch. Any way to change to English?

You can check the order of the installed Languages.
    *Firefox > Preferences > Content > Languages
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • When I use the printer icon in Firefox, it is preset to 10 copies. How can I change this to only one copy by default. Thanks for any information

When I use the printer icon, in the upper left corner, it is automatically preset to 10 copies. I only want one copy by default. I can change it to one, but when re-opened, it is back to 10.

Number of copies to be printed isn't a setting that Firefox is supposed to be saving, and I have never seen a preference for that in the hidden Firefox prefs panel - about:config.
Try the '''''reset''''' described here and reset all the prefs for that printer: <br />
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages#Reset_printer <br />Make sure to restart Firefox before seeing if doing this '''reset''' fixed your problem.
If that did fix your problem, please click the '''Solved It''' button next to the answer that answered or solved your Firefox support issue, '''''it appears when you are logged in''''', so this thread gets marked as '''Solved''' to help other users who may have this same problem.
If that didn't solve your problem and it still defaults to printing 10 copies of everything thru Firefox, please open '''Help > Troubleshooting Information...''' and use the '''Copy All to Clipboard''' button and then paste that information into the '''''Post a Reply''''' box here.
It is going to be a real long list, but all I really need to see is the ''' print.''' preferences, so you could paste '''All''' that information into a text program like WordPad first, edit out the information that I don't need to see, and then '''copy''' the remaining information and '''paste''' only that information in to the '''''Reply''''' box here.
I wonder if there might be a pref that I have never seen, but I truly doubt it. That "number of copies to be printed" has never been "stuck" for me on any program in Windows, on any PC I have ever used, with any printer / print drivers.
The only time I have ever seen a "print dialog box" default to more than 1 copy was with a work application where the program being used was set to force 2 copies of some specific forms to print 2 copies all the time - one to be given to the "customer" at the end of the job for their records of the service call and one for the "employee" to get a signature upon completion of the job, to fax into the home office for job documentation as completed successfully and for payroll purposes so they would get paid for that service call.

  • When I open a new tap Firefox tries to open a non existant address how can I change this please

When I try to open a new tab I get this:
    Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.[r;;iåvÞyevq¾qîx»òki.com.
Check the address for typing errors such as
    ww.example.com instead of
    www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Hats off to Tylerdowner for sharing such an easy-to-follow solution for this weird issue. Yes, it works greatly. I got rid of that strange thing by following Tylerdowner's kind guidelines. Once again, thanks a million for this real time support. Cheers :)

    > So now my question is, how can i fix this problem?
Use the Toshiba recovery disk or the Toshiba HDD recovery option.
If you dont have the Toshiba Recovery disk try the HDD recovery:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm
This works only if the recovery image files from Toshiba are still on the HDD:
If you installed the system using another disk as Toshiba recovery disk, this recovery option will not work.
