Firefox can not handle ClickOnce generated publish.htm page.

I've deployed my application with ClickOnce. When I go to the deployed site produced by ClickOnce (..\publish.htm), Firefox displays the site properly. However when I click the "Launch" hyeperlink there, all I get is a page-full of XML listing. What's supposed to happen is that Firefox should launch the application subject to the specified prerequisites.
I have tried three different machines (2 running XP Pro, 1 running Vista Ultimate) and the same thing happens.
If you want to check, the site I'm testing is at www.abbeycontrols.co.uk. Navigate to "Applications & Calculators" and click the application there: http://www.abbeycontrols.co.uk/abbey/applications/IgnitionBox/publish.htm
My machine runs Vista Ultimate SP2 but I have tried it on other machines running XP Pro SP3. Same problem. I had similar problem with Internet Explorer but this has now been fixed by changing the "Compatibility View" settings. I can't find similar setting for Firefox. Google Chrome has the same problem but I'll take this up with Google.

IE's "Compatibility View" usually fixes stuff that doesn't meet current web standards, from the days of IE5 & 6 when IE tried to "enforce" their perception of those "standards" upon the internet. Firefox hasn't needed a "Compatibility View" because it has always followed "web standards" fairly consistently.
Issues with XML is beyond my knowledge, but you could try posting at the Web Development / Standards Evangelism forum at MozillaZine. The helpers over there are more knowledgeable about web page development issues with Firefox. <br />

I think this is one of those strange problems where, when you start up a proxy to watch the traffic, the problem goes away. You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. in Firefox can not see the Downloads window, in the jump in the boot to be seen - the download speed
Downloaded much and now can not see how to fix it?

I hate the new downloads-in-a-tab scheme. This was an unnecessary change in my book (if it aint broke, don't "fix it").
So in order to get it back, I performed the about:config browser.download.useToolkitUI change, but now all I get is a blank download window that pops up every time I download something.
Is there something else that I need to do? I've checked the change and it was saved, but it didn't resolve my issue as much as it just caused me a new issue.

  • Performance issue is most probably caused by the fact that IE can not handle such amount of requests ? is it ?

    Hi,
I'm running web applications and there is performance issue is most probably caused by the fact that IE can not handle such amount of requests that are forwarded to the server at the same time.
    Data:
On IE(10) – search variety 11- it takes a long time (about 25 seconds for response) .
in general, the responding time of "search variety" in IE is much longer than Chrome.
    IE - see:http://screencast.com/t/kSeT3hC2mRfV
    Chrome see:http://screencast.com/t/NYf6fskU
    Why? any solution ?
    Thanks,

without a link to your site (so we can use the same tools mentioned above)... we can only guess.
these are peer to peer support forums... your favorite web search engine will help you to learn about web development.
display the Developer tool console in each browser to view the suppressed error messages.
All modern browsers support the performance api or your can use the Networking tab to view the latency metrics for the site.... commonly you may be using meta directives for caching instead of server headers or you have different settings between browsers
which determine how long resources are cached. Commonly, IE has a different security model to other browsers... ensure that you are using the Default IE security zone settings.... Actions like innerHTML go through a sanitization process to remove script content...
Commonly AJAX calls are made during the onload event...

Firefox can not open:http://www.oslopubguide.com/Templates/FlyFisher.dwt.asp and similar files. I just get the coded text. Int. Explorer show the page. This is a new problem. Happened on Wednesday or Thursday. I have tried this on two computers

Looks like the server is mis-configured. That file is being sent as '''text/plain''' and that is how Firefox is rendering it. Opera 10.63 and Safari 5.0.1 do the same as Firefox, it only displays properly on IE8 for me.

I installed Firefox 6.0.2 on a Windows Server 2003 box. This box is a terminal server with 9 users that are going to use Firefox. The other users are going to use IE. When asked to reboot now or later, I chose Later. After sometime I rebooted, the message "you need to reboot in order to complete the install" reappears. Over and over again. Can not uninstall (same message) Can not open Firefox (same message) Many reboots using various users, the same results.
    Help!

The question appears to relate more to the OS than be a firefox problem, but as I have never used Windows Server 2003, I am unable to help.

I am running firefox 23.0.1. I just upgraded to evernote 5.0+.
When I try to add webclipper 5.7 to firefox I get the error
Firefox can not modify the needed file
I could not locate the files referenced in the answers presented.

Firefox no longer unpacks an extension automatically, but renames the XPI file to the ID of the extension and copies that file to the extensions folder in the Firefox Profile Folder.
If an extension needs to be unpacked then there should be an unpack directive (<nowiki><em:unpack>true</em:unpack></nowiki>) in the install.rdf file of that extension.
    * https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Updating_extensions_for_Firefox_4.0#XPI_unpacking
You can try to set the extensions.alwaysUnpack pref to true on the about:config page.

  • Illutrator Can Not Handle Texture, why?

Hey Folks, not sure if it's me or something I am doing wrong but it seems to me ever since illustrator cs5, the program has real issues when it comes to handling a vector texture. I get that a vector grunge texture has alot o points and etc, but it's never been this pad. I have a simple simple grunge texture and it freezes illustrator, I have tried various kinds of textures and basically the program can not handle it at all. I have tried on other comps as well but it just seems like there is  real issue with ANY kind of texture, even really simple ones. I am really frustrated cause its something that never really used to be an issue.

Have you tried simplifying the grunge with the "Simplify path" option? I use textures quite a bit in CS5. I agree it's not as fast as I'd like.
