First Excel Doc Opened to be at the bottom of the List on the Taskbar

When I open multiple excel docs and they combine, I would like them listed in the taskbar with the first doc opened to be at the bottom instead of at the top - how can I do this??

Hi,
Which Windows operation system are you using?
According to your description, my understand is that you want to the first opened file on the bottom not the top of taskbar. Is it right? I tested with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, see this image.
Unfortunately, the first opened file always on the top, it is controlled by Windows operation system, not Office program. We could not change it now.
If I misunderstand something, please feel free let us know.

Please help me with my direct problem. I have been everywhere on the internet and no one has my particular problem that i have found. There are similar ones but those solutions i have already tried. (See Above)

    Hi,
First, try to repair Office 2013 to check the issue.
Second, try to reapply the registry patch:
    reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1

  • How to revert to having Excel docs open with Excel 2004

I recently purchased and installed Office 2008 for the Mac on my MacBook Pro. I have one HUGE problem with Excel 2008 in that if you have a reasonably sized spreadsheet, 700 lines long by about 10 columns wide and have a chart of some of the data showing on the active (visible) screen, then entering any more data slows to a crawl that is unbelievable... It is unusable... I still have Office 2004 installed. I went to the Excel file in the finder, did a "get info", went into the "open with", changed that back to Excel 2004 and closed the get info window... I then double clicked the file and it opened with Excel 2004, what I wanted... However, the next time I save the workbook file (and I have to do that as I add data to it daily), it immediately reverts back to wanting to be opened with Excel 2008... I also tried clicking the "change all" in the get info window and that doesn't work at all.. If I select Excel 2004 and then click "change all", the very next time I try to open it (whether I have saved or not) it opens with Excel 2008... So that is even worse... I do notice when I click on the "open with" there is the word "default" next to Excel 2008... So is there some way, short of removing Excel 2008 from the computer, which I might have to do, to truly change this "open with" deal such that it will ALWAYS open with Excel 2004??? I'm bummed by a number of features in the new Excel but the forever spinning beach ball when a chart is on the active page is truly a killer... So in summary, short of removing Excel 2008, how do I again make Excel 2004 truly the default app for opening .xls spreadsheets???? thanks much... bob..

Hi... You are correct about the xls versus the xlsx... However, what I've observed is that Excel 2008 is more than happy to open an older .xls file, work on it and then save it, still keeping the .xls extension... But now, after having saved it, even though its extension is still .xls, now it is full of whatever overhead they have put into Excel 2008 that is intolerable... Since I posted earlier, I did some reading and downloaded a preference pane program called "RCDefaultApp-2.0.1.X"... It claims to be good at fixing problems just like what I am describing... But not matter what I do in that little app, if I select Excel 2004 to be the app that opens .xls files, I click that choice and it instantly reverts right back to Excel 2008 before I even leave that window... Bottom line is Excel 2008 has taken control at some level deeper than what that utility can do anything about... Again, I can set the "open with" to Excel 2004 and that works but ONLY until I save the file again... The moment I save it, Excel 2008 grabs control again... I'm an early adopter and I sometimes run into these kinds of problems... I'll figure it out eventually... It was my hope they might have made Excel more efficient at running on Mac OS X now that it is native rather than running under Rosetta but my early impressions are that it has gone dramatically the wrong way... Too bad... Anyway, any other thoughts would be much appreciated.. I haven't yet but I will now go read the links you posted... thanks much... bob...

  • At first I could open 2 tabs with the same program but now after upgrading to Forefox 4 I can't anymore! Why not?

I miss it because sometimes I want to open a program twice for example to keep on listening to the music from it.

Place your phone in DFU mode (search google for instructions) and restore as new.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to bring your phone into Apple.

  • Inserting excel doc into word or pdf doc

I'm putting together a business proposal. I'm writing it in word and will then save it as a pdf so that I can email it and not lose changes.
I have two excel documents that fall in the middle of the master document.
Any suggestions on how to make these excel docs a part of the master pdf document so that readers can look at the content seemlessly? I want to be able to include them in my table of contents and have them be found in the correct order instead of emailing separate attachments that the reader would have to put together.
I've tried turning the excel doc into a pdf and inserting that, but the excel doc has multiple pages and needs to be oriented in a landscape way (vs. the rest of the doc which is portrait). Also, when I insert the excel doc as an object (following the help from Microsoft office) I can't properly rotate or size the object.
I hope others have had the same challenge and have a quick solution.
    Thanks for the help!

I was trying to find the appropriate place and these had the closest subjects I could find. Can you tell me where I SHOULD be posting this?
Usually the best place to start is the web site of the company that makes the software. Most will have forums like Microsoft's newgroups.
There are also forums not tied to any specific company such as MacRumors forums.

    Is that possible?

  • FireFox windows open in the taskbar change position

Have 3 or 4 windows open. When working on a window it hangs for a few second, then moves to a different position on the taskbar. Happens on my laptop with Vista and new desktop with Windows 7. The window that hangs will move to the last position after hanging. How do I keep the windows open from moving on the taskbar?

    Hello Nordhaus.
If you rightclick any task in the taskbar you can select to "pin it to the taskbar". That's handy with Firefox because you'll be able to open it from there, instead of going to the start menu.

I can no longer open excel documents in my doc to go app. Error message simple reads can not open attachment. And the attachment is now a winmail.dat

winmail.dat files usually mean the email has been sent in rich text format - you could either the person who sent it to send it in a different format e.g. plain text or HTML, or there are a few apps in the store that support it (search for winmail.date in the store).

  • Excel Not Opening the 1st Sheet

When exporting a Discoverer file to Excel, I want Excel to open the Excel file automatically after export. During the export process there is an option at the end to open the 1st exported sheet. I check this, but it doesn't automatically open. I see in the help area, it tells me to do the following:
    Open the first exported sheet
Use this check box to open the first file in the file list when you close the Export Wizard. For example, if the first file is a HTML file, your Web browser will display the HTML file. Note: If you export to Microsoft Excel format and Microsoft Excel does not open the first exported sheet, check that you have the correct security level for macros. For example, in Microsoft Excel 2000, choose Tools | Macro| Security and set the security level to Medium or Low.
So I went into Excel and set my macro security setting to Low and saved that Excel document. I exited Discoverer and logged back in. Tried exporting again, but it still won't automatically open. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Well I was able to get it working. Both solutions came from Tamir's Metalink tip. I just needed to apply 2 different sets of changes.
For my Windows 2000 PC, I did the following (from Doc ID: Note:307919.1 )
Add your site to 'Trusted Sites' in Internet Explorer to make this work.
    1) Go to Tools->Internet Options->Security tab->Trusted Sites->
Click on 'Sites' button and add your site from which you are launching Plus.
Make sure you uncheck 'Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this
    zone' and click 'OK'.
    2) Close Internet Explorer, launch Discoverer Plus again and test.
After adding your site as a 'Trusted Site', you should now be able to
export to Excel, HTML etc, and the application open up automatically.
Then, for my user's Windows Xp machine I did the following (from Doc ID: Note:301619.1 )
    Solution
Caution: Before altering the Windows Registry it is strongly recommended that a backup be taken. If the registry is updated incorrectly the PC may not be able to boot or applications may fail to start or cause errors.
    In the Windows environment:
    1) Start -> Run -> Regedit (to open the registry)
    2) Locate the following key path:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ZONE_ELEVATION\iexplore.exe
    3) Change the value from '1' to '0'
    4) Ensure that the following settings for the .xls & .html file types are unchecked:
    a) Open Windows Explorer
    b) Goto Tools/Folder Options/File Types tab
    c) Select the Extension 'XLS' (or HTML) and Click on the Advanced button
    d) Un-check the option 'Confirm Open after Download' & 'Browse in same window'
    5) Select 'OK', then 'Apply'
    6) Re-Start the workstation (PC)
The Windows Login in XP can be setup on the domain or on the local PC. If the login is set up on the domain, please take this additional step. If the login is set up on the PC, skip this step.
    7) In Internet Explorer use the pull down Tools / Internet Options, and go to the Advanced tab. Scroll to the Security section and check the box for "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer".
I found the solution for my user's XP PC from the original Metalink # Tamir gave me (Note:301619.1). But, I chose to use this one (Note:307919.1) first (on my 2000 PC) because it looked easier to implement. It was, but only for my Win 2000 machine. I had to use the originally recommended Metalink note to get it to work for an XP machine. I just wanted to mention this in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation.

  • What is the maximum file size for CSV that Excel can open ? (Excel 2013 64bit)

    Hello,
Before anyone jumps in, I am not talking about the maximum worksheet size of 1048576 rows by 16384 columns.
    I have  client whom has a 1.5 Gb CSV file, 1.9, 2.6, 5, 17 and 89 Gb file (Huge).
If I open the 1.5 Gb, the file opens (After waiting 5 minutes) and then a warning pops up that only the first 1048576 rows have loaded. That is fair enough.
If I try and open any of the others, Excel comes up to a blank worksheet. No errors. It just seems to ignore the file I tried to open. This happens from within Excel (File - open) or from double clicking the file in explorer.
Excel goes to this blank page almost imeadiatly. It does not even try to open the file.
If I try with Ms Access, I get a size warning and it refuses to load the file. (At least I get a warning)
I would have expected Excel to load at least the first 1048576 rows  (If that is what there are in the file), and give an error.
The computer is more than capable (Xeon processors, 16 Gb ram, SSD hard disks top of the line HP Z820 power workstation).
With the 1.5 Gb file loaded to 1048576 rows, it uses 15% ram/pagefile. CPU's hit about 5%.
I have confirmed it is Win 7 64bit, Excel 64bit. I am fairly confident we are over the file size but without an error message, I don't know what to tell my client whom is looking to me for answers.
I have already discussed that the 89gb file in Excel is unreasonable and they are looking at a stat's package but I need an answer on these smaller files.
    Anyone got any ides ?

    Hi,
The 1,048,576 rows & 16,384 columns is the
workbook size limitation in Excel 2013. Thus, I recommend we try the Mr. Bernie's suggestions to import the large CSV file.
    1. Use VBA to read the file line by line and split/examine the import file in sections. If you have further question about the VBA, please post your question to the MSDN forum for Excel

  • Can't open an Excel doc (w/ macros and VBA) in Excel 2011 for Mac. Anyone have any ideas (other than using a pc instead)?

    Hi all,
I am trying to open a document created in Excel in Windows on my Excel 2011 for mac copy.  The issue seems to be related to using the Macros and VB associated with the .xlsm doc.  The specific error I get in Excel is:
Compile error in hidden module: Utilities
When I try to open it in an Excel web app, or other online excel environment (whether using Firefox or Chrome) I get this message:
We can't show these features in the browser:
    VBA Project
    Shapes or other objects
few other forums suggested an issue with adobe add-ins, but I don't show one in the Excel>Tools>Addins dialogue.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

The same error message will result from a problem in any add-ins ,thus you should investigate other installed add-ins. It is worth the effort to try to start your excel program in safe mode. About how to use safe mode in Mac OS, Please refer to :http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892428
If this issue is gone in this situation, try to disable add-ins in excel.
In addition, since this issue is related to Excel 2011 for Mac, I would suggest that you post your issue in the following forum:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac

  • Excel cannot open the file

I am trying to build a dashboard in 4.5 Professional.  When I open the Xcelsius file I get the following message "Excel cannot open the file 'im5.xlsx' because the file format or file extention is not valid.  Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extention matches the format of the file"
I went to Task Master killed Excel and then got a new message "the document 'im5.xlsx' caused a serious error the last time it was open.  Would you like to continue opening it?" If I say "Yes" the message in the first paragraph re-appears.  However, I then cannot find Excel in Task Manager again.  I therefore assume Excel is not running but the problem persist, I cannot openthe Dashboard.  Any ideas how to solve this problem?
