Fixed background for all resolutions

Hi
I want to put a fixed background on my homepage using bg
image in page properties in DW. No problem so far but what size do
I make the image so that it fills the screen whether at 800x600 or
1600x1200? I know tables have to be set to dimensions in precentage
but how do I get to see the whole image whatever the screen
resolution?
Many thanks
t

Resolution is not the consideration. What would you do on my
760px wide
viewport on my 1280x1024 screen?
Give it up. It's chasing a will-o-the-wisp. Besides,
backgrounds don't
stretch, they tile.

  • How could i set fixed heights for all of my web pages?

    I want fixed heights for all of my web pages.Do i have to set any margins for my footer?Because by adding some contents in between header and footer ,then the footer goes down.How could i have fixed height pages?

    You may like to have a fixed footer as in
    #footer {
       position:fixed;
       left:0px;
       bottom:0px;
       height:30px;
       width:100%;
       background:#999;

  • Custom CSS-Applying selected background for all the cols in the report

    Hi,
    I am trying to set a particular background for all the columns in the report(not for all the projects,so that I can avoid option of manually setting background color for complete report.For this I thought custom CSS is best option.So edited custom.css(C:\OBI11g_Middleware\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res\s_blafp\b_mozilla_4) file with below code and went to the Answers-> Criteria->Choose Column->style-> check "Use Custom CSS Class"->MyCell
    Code used in custom.css
    .MyCell { background-color: #00ff00; font-style:italic; font-weight: bold;}
    Somehow I dont see the background color applied to any of the columns in report.Can anyone had successful attempt of this Custom CSS.Thanks in Advance.

    I am trying both the solutions.
    User 979493,
    I started manually writing the code instead of pasting and almost worked.In the mentioned below paths I dont have custom.css file,so I created one and manually entered below code.But does it work for only that particular column and not for all the columns.Is it supposed to work for all the columns or just that column.
    For example: I have 2 cols in the report,I used "Use Custom CSS Class" -> MyCell for the first column and when I ran results it shows background color for only col1 and not for col2.I thought this feature will apply background color for all the columns in the report.Please correct me if I am wrong.
    custom.css file content:
    .MyCell{background-color: #00ff00;font-style:italic;font-weight:bold;}

  • Background for all users?

    How to set a background for all users of an administration?
    Logged in as superuser and done de following:
    >Administration>System Initialisation>General Settings
    >Tab 'Font & Bkgd'
    >Option Background, selected Browse for picture and then pdate
    Only shows on the person who set the background, not for other users

    you can open the table OUSR and paste the full path of the image (you should store it on the server) to each user.
    If you need further info let me know.

    how could I set a fixed size window for all resulution?

    Using layers for page layout is just asking for trouble.
    Trouble with
    centering content, and trouble with expanding text.
    Use tables until you can manage a proper CSS layout scheme,
    i.e., NOT
    layers. Start here -

  • Customise desktop background for all network user accounts

    Hi,
    I have 12 MAC OS X 10.6 Clients on A Windows 2008 R2 Server. I cannot use Group Policies from Active Directory to customise my default user desktops on the MACs. Can I do this from the MAC stations? It has to work for network users not just local accounts?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    If you're looking to make a desktop background universal and system wide regardless of user, then it's easy. The default user folder is in /System/Library/User\ Template
    It's protected from access unless you're logged in as root, either in the gui or terminal.
    Just change the pertenant preference file in the Library folder to reflect your new desktop background and all should be well.  Any time a NEW user logs in, when their home folder is created, it will include that desktop background pref file.
    If you're running the magic triangle, then you just have to set that preference in Workgroup Manager.
    If you're not sure or comfortable with this, then write back and we'll help you further.  More info on your server set up etc would be helpful in this regard.

  • Fixed Background for Website

    Hi,
    I'm currently making a website which need a fixed background, sort of like a patterned wallpaper. I need it to extend to any maximum adjustment of window browser. The background has gradient colors in it, so I can't make it repeatable. Can anyone help?
    I'm using Adobe Flash CS3, a newbie in web design and have really tried exploring but I can't seem to find the right script for it.
    Everytime I tried adjusting the window (I set it to 1024x768), it ended up to have white borders around.
    I created the file in an actionscript 2.0. Am I doing things wrongly?
    Please help..
    example of same webpage background concept:
    www.bambako.com (only mine created with flash)
    www.merekastudio.com

    that's css you put it in the head section of your html or if you have a external css file you can put it there.  In case you dont know about css and don't have a css script in your html the entire script would look like this.
    <style>
         body {margin:0; padding:0; overflow:auto;}
    </style>
    the overflow auto has nothing to do with the gutter but will elininate a vertical scrollbar in IE7 and maybe other versions of IE.

  • Best way to create a background image for all resolutions without drastically increasing file size.

    I see a lot of great background images with complex designs that resize with different screen resolutions. I can create the designs, but I don't know how to create a complex image for large screen resolutions without making it a large file, or it loosing quality with it stretches to the larger size. Is there a code that resizes images when stretched, or do I just have to live with a slower load speed with complex background images?

    The background doesn't resize, it shrinks:
    http://johnpatrickgiven.com/jquery/background-resize/
    Basically make a 1920x1080 or higher resolution file and use that script.  There will always be a maximum but based on your response that is not your monitor.  Photoshop and other tools do a pretty good job compressing jpeg files and most internet connections are fast enough to make it seamless.

  • Forced non-transparent background for all compositions in certain dimension

    At one point After Effects started to have this background image on all compositions (existing old files to new ones) in 640x1136 dimension.
    Problem is, I'm a UI designer and 80% of my works are in that dimension.
    Funny thing is, if the dimension is a pixel off, then the transparency returns back again. BTW, that background image with shoes is something one of the projects that I'm working on.
    All of my old compositions now have those shoes flashing whenever there's supposed to be transparency and it's just driving me crazy.
    I need to get this thing fixed ASAP. please help!

    Awesome that worked!
    Thanks Tim and Dave for your help, greatly appreciated
    btw, I raised this issue to a few of Adobe Help Chat representatives and they all replied back as "it's a known issue, but there is no fix for it". and none of them were even apologetic about it. Just terse "yes it's a known issue" and when I asked if there is a way to fix it then simple response of "no".
    I understand not all of them could resolve all problems, but Adobe's customer help service is on par with cable and wireless companies'.
    Grateful to have such forum space where there are people willing to help each other. Thanks to Tim and Dave once again. Happy Thanksgiving!

  • How do I set a Finder background for all users?

    I want to set a background in Finder for a folder hosted on a server, and I want all users who connect to that folder to see the background (and, necessarily, force them into Icon view for that folder). Is there a way to do this? Server is running 10.5.8, clients are running a mix from 10.6.7 to 10.7.1.

    But I dont know how to set a default website name that appears at the top of EVERY page.  Can you help?
    You cannot set a default name for your webpage.
    Each page is unique.
    But you can make a default page and duplicate it.

  • IPad app formatted for all resolutions

    Hi there.
    I want to create an iPad portfolio (from InDesign 6) which will look good and can be downloaded on all iPad models (1-4) is it possible to just set up the resolution to the highest spec (iPad 4 - retina) or do I need to create one SD and one HD folio? I'd rather just work to the HD and it wouldn't look quite so sharp on older iPads...
    I've been working to an InDesign document size of 1048 x 762 and making sure all images are are showing up about 250 ppi. If I'm importing a full bleed (screen size) image I'm making sure the jpeg is 296 x 1524px.
    Also, I presume if I want to do a mini version of the portfolio for the iPhone I will have to do a resize - one for the older iPhone screen sizes and one for the iPhone 5 screen.
    Thanks in advance.
    Steve

    You can use multi-rendition PDF articles to create a single 1024x768 folio that looks good on all iPad models.

  • How to set the background for all components?

    hi
    Does anybody know how to set the DEFAULT background color in an application.. I need it because in jdk 1.3 the default bgcolor is grey and in 1.5 it is white.. and I wish white as well.. so to make it also white in jdk 1.3 I need to use the (a bit annoying) anyContainer.setBackground( Color.white ); and these are lots in my app.. So my question is: is there such an overall class with a function (say UIManager.setComponentsBackground( Color color ) ) for such a purpose?
    any tip or link would be greatly appreciated

    Does anybody know how to set the DEFAULT background color in an applicationthis might get you close

  • Background for all websites is white-not operating in correct mode.

    ''italic text''
    The problem with the internet sites showing a white background seemed to start after I had updated Firefox according to a pop-up that said the update was available.
    On my aol web site I can read my email, but cannot automatically send to a person on my roster. I have to type in the full address. When I go to google page to do a search, the background is white.

  • Why does Firefox 31 change all PDF icons and opening in browser, require a fix using REGEDIT to fix for ALL USERS on a computer?

    The solution to use REGEDIT in the question linked below almost fixed my trouble with PDF files on over 30 computers, with several users on each computer:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1013642
    But I needed to fix it for ALL users on a computer, without logging onto each account, on each computer. My fix was to logon as administrator and change the following system-global key instead:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.pdf
    Name: Default
    Type: Reg_SZ
    Data: FirefoxHtm
    Changed the data from FirefoxHtm to AcroExch.Document.11
    I use Adobe Reader XI on Win7 Pro, 64-bit machines.
    The problem started when I ran a downloaded file to install the new version of Firefox on the computers.
    Why would Firefox require me to use REGEDIT in this manner to fix the problem?

    This only happens when you set Firefox as the default browser and Firefox thinks that there is currently no application the handles PDF files.

  • Customizing firefox ... set my own background image for all pages I open in Internet.

    The idea is in using my own *.css file as primary for all sites, i open in firefox (or just my own background image). So that this image replaces the background for all sites I open in Internet.
    Maybe there is a file available in firefox 17.1 for this (maybe UserContent.css).
    Thanks a lot.

    Yes, you can use userContent.css for this, but it's simpler to use the Stylish extension instead.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserContent.css
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/stylish/
    You would then use something like this:
    <pre><nowiki>@-moz-document url-prefix("http://"), url-prefix("https://") {
    body {
    background: url("file:///C:/My%20Pictures/Wallpaper/image.jpg") !important;
    color: black !important;
    *:not(body):not(input):not(textarea):not(button) {
    background: transparent !important;
    color: inherit !important;
    /* Unvisited link */
    a:link {
    color: blueviolet !important;
    /* Visited link */
    a:visited {
    color: indigo !important;
    /* Link with the mouse cursor over it */
    a:hover {
    color: lightblue !important;
    /* Clicked link */
    a:active {
    color: red !important;
    }</nowiki></pre>
    * To get the path of the image to use as the background, open it in Firefox and copy the URL from the address bar. Otherwise, keep in mind the protocol is file:/// that spaces must be replaced with %20 and that forward slashes must be used instead of backslashes (the latter is what Windows Explorer uses).
    * Remember to define appropriate colors for text and links, otherwise they will end up unreadable against your background image.
    * Even so, you can expect uneven results. Take this page for instance. “Post reply” isn't an actual button, but a link element styled to look like a button. There's no way to change these on all sites; they must be styled on a case-by-case basis. Another issue are images (e.g. the [https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/img/mozilla-support.png mozilla support] graphic here), which might end up unviewable against your background image.
