Fixing parameter based on User in Infoview

Hi
I want to know whether there is an option in Infoview to fix the parameter values based on the user who has logged in or any othe similar actions.
What I want to do is
I have one report which gives data for different departments. I have included one parameter Dept Name , based on which report data is distinguished.
I want to fix this parameter for some users like "Accounts" department user can only view data for Parameter "Accounts" only. or "HR" for "HR" only. but "Management" can view data for specific department or all department. This parameter is List of Values.
The report is working fine. only thing i need to do is to "fix" the parameter value as "Accounts" if any user/group of ACCOUNTS logs in. He should not be able to choose any other parameter value like "HR" or "MANAGEMENT" etc.
I am using BO X1 R2
Thanks

This can be implemented by Row level restrictions. Assuming you are on XI, you can do this in the universe by going to Tools>Manage Security>Manage Access Restriction.
You can also read the Designer guide for more details on how to accomplish this.

  • Cascade parameter based on user input

    Post Author: jalverson
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    I'm creating a quoting report for our product development group.  They want a report where they input an item number, then have a drop down box that shows all the sales proposals that this item is on.   The user will then select one of the proposals from the drop down box and run the report based on the item number and the proposal selected.
    Cascading parameter works but the item list is too long  (20k items) to select from.  It is easier for the user to enter the item number they want.  I can't figure out how to enter an item number in a parameter and then use it like a cascading parameter to populate the drop down box.  If it helps, we are using Crystal Reports XI.
    I appreciate your with this issue.

    i think u can use GET /SET CURSOR command...check for sytax.

  • Filtering report data based on user login and Parameter fields

    Post Author: mronquillo
    CA Forum: General
    Hi,I am running a report that filters data based on the user login. To do this, I created a formula called @user that compares the login name (using the CurrentCEUserName field) and returns the user's name. If the user login is not a login specified in the if statements, it returns the parameter field "user_name":For example: if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname1" then "User's Name 1"else if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname2" then "User's Name 2" else if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname3" then "User's Name 3"  else if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname4" then "User's Name 4".. .else {?user_name}   In select expert, I have a condition which filters data based on the string returned from that formula:{Table.Name} = {@user}  This works fine and when the users run the report they only their own data. However, they are still prompted to choose a parameter field regardless if of the value returned by the @user formula. Oddly enough, regardless of what parameter field they choose, they will still only see their own data (i.e. if John chooses "Bob" from the parameter list, he will still only see John's data.)If I remove the "else {?user_name}" line from the @user formula, then the users are not prompted anymore. However, if they are not a "valid" user - that is, if any of the if statements in the formula are not true for their login name - then they will see no data. What I want to do is make the report ONLY prompt the user to choose a parameter field if their login name is not "valid". That is, if the @user formula is able to return a string value for their login name, then they will jump right into the report without being prompted to choose a parameter - otherwise, the user will be prompted to choose a name from the parameter list. I thought my formula would allow this (hence the "else" clause), but it seems that if a parameter field is present in any formula, then the report automatically prompts the user to choose a parameter. Is what I am trying to accomplish possible in CR (I'm using CR v10.0) or is there a better way to do what I am trying to do?Thanks in advance.

    try, or something like that
    (if CurrentCEUserName ={?user_name} then true else ({Table.Name} = {@user}) )

  • Adjusting frame size or Border size based on user parameter

    Hi,
    I'm using Oracle 10g developerr suite and working on Oracle reports. I've a requirement to change the frames in the report dynamically based on user parameter value. The same if possible I want to try with report border also.
    If anyone have came across this kind of requirement could you please advise how can I proceed on this or Suggest first of all whether is it possible to achieve this requirement.
    Anyone please suggest your views.
    Thanks,
    Subu

    There is another way to change the frame automatically
    this can be done by horizontally elasticity and vertical elasticity properties to the frame, You can set them as variable or expand to make them elastic due to the data

  • How to create  DynPage based on user parameter and than implement it?

    Hello,
    I've written a Portal Application which contains a Portal Object which is a DynPage.
    I am using NWDS for development and NW 04 Patch 11 as the portal.
    This DynPage process something according to a hardcoded URL. I would like to transform this URL to a parameter which will be received from the user.
    Can someone please explain me the whole process with a simple example that includes:
    1. How to change the code/project to receive parameter from the user?
    2. How to change the iView configuration which is based on this PAR file to send the user parameter.
    3. Where the user should enter it's parameter once all done?
    Thank you.
    Roy

    Hi Roy,
         If i understand your question properly, then you should do the following. This will let you change the value globally for all the users as an iview parameter. If you edit the iview then you will see the property that you have added to portalapp.xml.
    1. Modify your portalapp.xml to accept iview personalization.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <application>
      <application-config>
        <property name="PrivateSharingReference" value="com.sap.portal.htmlb"/>
      </application-config>
      <components>
        <component name="links_tree">
          <component-config>
            <property name="ClassName" value="com.sap.sen.gcp.km.links.links_tree"/>
            <property name="SecurityZone" value="com.sap.sen.gcp.km.links/high_safety"/>
          </component-config>
          <component-profile>
            <b><property name="url" value="/documents"/></b>
          </component-profile>
        </component>
      </components>
      <services/>
    </application>
    3. The following code will get you the value of path.
    IPortalComponentRequest request = (IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest();
    IPortalComponentContext myContext = request.getComponentContext();
    IPortalComponentProfile profile = myContext.getProfile();
    <b>String url = profile.getProperty("url");</b>

  • Displaying columns based on user parameter

    Hello Experts,
    My oracle apps version is R12.1.3
    and database is 11g
    and below is my Question?
    How can we display columns in a report based on user parameter.
    Suppose my report has 15 columns but some user dont need all this 15 columns, so before getting the output user wants to give parameter for that report and then report will give output for only those columns which user had given in parameter window.
    I think i clear my point here. Any help could be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Atul

    What if you have 15 parameters such as
    Display onhand (Yes/no)
    Display item description (yes /no)
    etc.
    And then in the report, have a trigger associated with each column (as well as heading) that returns false if the parameter is No.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to create a Query iView based on user's parameter?

    Hello,
    I've created a Query iView which depends on a Costumize parameter that the user enters - On stage 5 of the wizard I've entered a customize parameter on a certain field and called it "user_param". The wizard entered the Query: WHERE... = {$user_param}. So far so good...
    My question is, after creating this iView, how Do I implement it at the Portal so the user will have a place to enter his parameter and receive the result?
    when opening the Query I don't see such place. According to SPA's documentation, the user should enter the parameter at the "personalize" menu. When I put this iView in a page and open the "Personalize" menu there is no such place.
    Which further configurations should I do in order it to work?

    If you open the iview, there should be a personalize property or setting for the URL parameter. Make sure that it is set to read/write. I just got off a portal project where I did a few of these, but I don't have access to one right now, so I can't give you the exact steps, but you should get the idea.
    Good luck,

  • Select Data based on User Permissions

    Post Author: nomore
    CA Forum: General
    I've got a Crystal Infoview server which is becoming quite cluttered with reports.In a lot of instances, I will have 4 or 5 copies of the same report which are tailored to specifc users. For example a sales report which will show data based on a specific customer. I could create on report with a parameter where the user could just select the customer - but i dont want some people to be able to see specific customers. So at present i have a seperate report for each customer - and then set the report permissions to only allow specific users to run it.I attended a course a while back where they showed us how, hiding particular fields/data to certain users if they should
    not be allowed to view it - but for the life in me i cannot remember at
    all how they did it.  Any tips greatly appreciated.

    In the special fields section is CurrentCEUserName, not sure if this would work for you, because I have CR XI
    You could surpress based on the id logged in, but that would be a lot of work,
    Perhaps you could create a "permissions" list in excel or in the database if possible, with a list of the reports that each ID can run, then based on the id, you populate the list....
    CurrentCEUserName inserts (in a formula) the name that was used to log on to the current session when using the Log On to BusinessObjects Enterprise dialog box.

  • Logic to select Report name based on User's input.

    Hi Guru's
    Good Morning!
    I have a requirement to create a XMLPUBLISHER Report Whihc is Called as ITEM COUNT SUMMARY + ITEM COUNT DETAIL REPORT Following below
    are my ParameterS
    0.REPORT NAME
    1.ORG
    2.ORG COUNTRY
    3.ITEM SELECTION
    4.ORDER TYPE
    5.STATUS
    6.RECEIPT DATE FROM
    7.RECEIPT DATE TO
    8.TRANSIT DAYS
    REPORT NAME: PARAMETER WILL LET THE USER to select the requrired Reports to be run.
    ORG: is the Names of the SHIP FROM ORG
    ORG COUNTRY: is a Dependent Parameter based on the ORG (i.e When a SHIP FROM ORG is Selected the ORG CHOICE Should have the CHoices for the selected ORG and when Nothing Selected from that ORG it should run for every ORG COUNTRY in that SHIP FROM ORG Currently we have two ORG COUNTRY PER SHIP FROM ORG say(USA, CANADA)
    ITEM SELECTION: We need to Run this Report based on Item Selection ( The Logic should handle a total item selection whihc are comma seperated for upto 29
    items)
    ORDER TYPE : Types of Order Again this can be a List of Comma Seperated Values for order Types
    STATUS: STatus should be Comma Seperated (ENTERED,WAVED,NOTWAVED,SHIPPED)
    TRANSIT DAYS: Transit Days
    RECEIPT DATE FROM: This is the Starting DATe range for the REport to be run
    RECEIPT DATE TO: This is the END DATe range for the REport to be run.
    The ITEM COUNT SUMMARY Report should allow the users to run the report 3 ways
    1.ITEM COUNT RUN BY ORDER TYPE ( for all the STATUS)
    2.ITME COUNT RUN BY STATUS ( FOR all the ORDER TYPES)
    3.ITEM COUNT RUN BY TRANSIT DAYS
    And My approach is I have three Queries Created for the above and in the DATA DEFINITION File
    I have them Listed my DATA DEFININTION ( Sorry as my Query's GO More than 70+ LINES for Each Query I thought I will just paste the Order How i have arranged my queries in the Tempalte)

    I would like to request you to Please help me out in arriving at a Solution for Implementing the Logic
    When the USer selects ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY ORDER TYPE I want "BY_ORDERTYPE" to be Executed and so on..
    Is there a Way That I can Write in my Data definition file as
    DECODE(:REPORT_NAME ,'ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY ORDERTYPE', Run query for BY_ORDERTYPE,
    ,'ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY STATUS', Run query for BY_STATUS,
    ,'ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY TRANSIT DAYS', Run query for BY_TRANSITDAYS,run query for DETAIL REPORT);
    Also My Item Description Contains Special Characters like Registered Symbol, Copyright Symbol How would I force my XML Parser to Still consider them as TEXT's
    May I Directly Specify <?xdofx:DECODE :REPORT_NAME = 'ITEM COUNT SUMMARY BY ORDERTYPE' THEN BY_ORDERTYPE ?> in the DATA DEFINITION file , I think this is only allowed in RTF please Help,
    Thanks

    Thanks for the Reply sir,
    When you say Write the Code, you are referring to the Package is that correct,unfortunately I am not implementing this via PL/SQL Package.
    you mentioned that I can Implement the Logic in the Data definition file( which is a XML file), how and Where I have print use that IF construct (or) Can you Please Print the Code snippet in the Model XML template that i have pasted in my Post.
    May i know what is this

  • How to Generate a Report Based on User's Parameters from Web Site

    Hi, all,
    I am trying to use Oracle Developer 6.0 Report Builder to generate report based on what user types in from the web site. Since I am a novice, I am wondering if anybody would help me with the following questions:
    1. How can I create a report based on user's parameters?
    Assuming that I have 2 text fields EMPNO and DEPT on the web site, after user types in some value, how can I pass these parameters into my query, can I do something like:
    select ENAME, JOB, EADDRESS from EMP
    where EMPNO =
    some_reference_of_parameters_from_user
    or is there any other way to achieve this functionality?
    2. How can I pass a PDF format report back to user after the report is generated?
    Any help is greately appreciated!!
    Best regards.
    Judy

    Hello,
    In the Report Builder, create two user parameters, and set the parameter name, datatype, width, and default values to what you want. Modify the query and put in a where clause (e.g., where deptno = :p_deptno). When you request the report with PARAMFORM=YES on the URL, it'll generate a default parameter form in HTML and allow the user to enter in the selected parameter values. Also set DESTYPE=CACHE&DESFORMAT=PDF on the URL to get the output back as PDF.
    If you upgrade to Reports 6i, you can customize the default HTML parameter form.

  • Selecting records based on user formula

    Post Author: Josh@RTA
    CA Forum: Formula
    I'm writing reports for a company that stores all of their dates as 8 digit numerical fields rather than a date or datetime datatype. I want to convert this field to a date type, then compare it to a parameter that stores user input as a date type.
    However, due to the way that Crystal does it's passes over the data, I can't use a selection formula based off of another formula. So I'm wondering , has anyone ever used a selection formula that references another formula and how have you been able to do it? Maybe use group selection instead of record selection? Just not sure.
    I'm including the formula I'm using to convert the date, as well as the selection formula so you get an Idea of what I'm doing.
    //This converts the numeric 'date' field to a dateshared stringvar DateString := totext({wotrans.ROP_TRAN_DATE}, 0, '');shared datevar ConvertedDate :=If {wotrans.ROP_TRAN_DATE} < 19590101 then Date (1959, 01, 01) else Date ( Val (DateString &#91;1 to 4&#93;),            Val (DateString &#91;5 to 6&#93;),            Val (DateString &#91;7 to 8&#93;) );
    //This is the select statement I'm using to compare the above formula to my parameter using record selection{@ConvertedTransDate} = {?TransDateRange}

    Post Author: SKodidine
    CA Forum: Formula
    Replace your formula with this and then equate it to your parameter value in your selection criteria and see if it will work.
    If {wotrans.ROP_TRAN_DATE} <= 19590101 then Date (1959, 01, 01)
    else
    date(
    tonumber(totext({wotrans.ROP_TRAN_DATE},0,'','')&#91;1 to 4&#93;),
    tonumber(totext({wotrans.ROP_TRAN_DATE},0,'','')&#91;5 to 6&#93;),
    tonumber(totext({wotrans.ROP_TRAN_DATE},0,'','')&#91;7 to 8&#93;));
    The process might be faster if you convert or change the data type of your parameter to numeric and then compare to the numeric date.

  • How do I create a dynamic parameter based on a formula?

    Hi,
    I've developed a report, in CR 11, that is parameterized based on the field "ticket_date".  I've created a Min and a Max formula so that I can select a date range. This works wonderfully. However, my date list is growing longer by the day and each day I have to run the report I need to scroll through an even longer list of date values. This will become increasingly impractical with each passing month and year.  I would like create a "Year" paramater and a "Month" parameter so that I can first select the Year, then the month(s), then the dates.
    When I attempted to create a parameter based on the formula, "Year (), the formula wasn't in the list of available values to create a parameter on.
    How can I address this requirement?
    thanks in advance!
    Mark

    Hi Abhilash,
    Looks like I was able to create a Year field in the Command - thanks for the tip!
    Before I close this off as answered can you take a look at two sets of SQL I wrote in the Command that I'm getting errors on and offer advice on where the error is occurring.
    Example 1
    The SQL I attempted to write must be close though:
    Select ft.sequence, ft.ticket_date, coff.office_name, comp.subscriptions_id from
    field_tickets as ft, company_offices as coff, companies as comp
    INNER JOIN jobs ON comp.companies_id=jobs.companies_id
    INNER JOIN field_tickets ON jobs.jobs_id=field_tickets.jobs_id
    LEFT JOIN company_offices ON jobs.company_offices_id=company_offices.company_offices_id
    Where comp.subscriptions_id=7.00
    When I attempt to save this I get an error:
    "Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: Exception: Error Message: Java Heap Space"
    Example 2
    I get the error, "Not unique table/alias: 'custom_jobs_values'" for the following SQL Command
    SELECT companies., jobs., field_tickets., regions., customers., custom_jobs_values. FROM
    companies, jobs, field_tickets, regions, customers, custom_jobs_values
    LEFT JOIN custom_jobs_values ON jobs.jobs_id=custom_jobs_values.jobs_id
    INNER JOIN regions ON companies.regions_id=regions.regions_id
    INNER JOIN jobs ON companies.companies_id=jobs.companies_id
    INNER JOIN field_tickets ON jobs.jobs_id=field_tickets.jobs_id
    INNER JOIN customers ON jobs.customers_id=customers.customers_id and
    companies.subscriptions_id=4.00
    thanks!

  • How to configure the schema name dynamically based on user input.

    configure the schema name dynamically based on user input.
    For ex:
    We have two schemas:
    Schema1  - base schema having 15 tables.
    Schema2 -  tables which is specific to modules. Having only 10 tables which is also available in Schema1
    Login to application using Schema 1
    Access a particlular module and select the country. Here country selection is identified.
    Based on the country selection, we need to connect the schema respectively.
    If the user selects France --> It should connect Schema1
    If the user selects Germeny --> It should connect schema2.
    Used: Eclipselink

    You may want to have a different persistence unit for each country, then you just need to switch persistence units, and can put the schema in your orm.xml file.
    You may also want to investigate EclipseLink multi-tenant support,
    http://www.eclipse.org/eclipselink/documentation/2.5/jpa/extensions/a_multitenant.htm
    You can the schema in a persistence unit in code using a SessionCustomizer and the tableQualifier.
