Fixing the width of a column in a pivot table.
Hi,
I have a report with a pivot table view.
In that pivot table i have a column called category and a measure called Amount.
My issue is, i need to fix the length of the the measured column to particular extent like $111,111,111,111.11 (Bold) for all the columns.
I went to Format Values for that column and add width=50 in the additional charting options.
But it's not reflecting for all the columns.
Is there any other way to resolve this one.
Thanks,
chinna.
Hi,
Thanks for the quick response.
I tried to fix the width of a column by putting 20% ,30% ....suggested by you.But it's not reflecting in the report.
is there any other way?
thanks,

Need to fix the width of a column in interactive report
Hi,
I have a column named 'Comment'. Its have a huge data due to which the lenght of that column in interactive report get increased. I need to fix the length to a desired value.
I used following code in Region Footer:
<style>
table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td[headers=COMMENTS] {
_width: 300px;
min-width: 50px;
max-width: 300px }
</style>
Its solved the problem by fixing the width of the column but the column is not showing the full data now. It is hiding most of its part to fit it in that column.
Please give some idea.
Thanks,
ChandruHi,
I believe you will want to add a height specification to allow for multiple lines. And you may want/need to specifiy how you want lines to wrap.
Add (for example):
height: 60px;
white-space: nowrap;
word-wrap: break-word;
There are defaults and several options for white-space and word-wrap. You may want to look them up and give them a try for comparison.

Adjust the width of a column in a report.
Hi,
How can we adjust the width of a column in a report.
We have a report with around 10 columns.
out of the 10 columns 1 column has a width of 500 char..
we want to display only the first 150 chars of that column with 50 char on first line,next 50 on second line and last 50 on third line.
i have tried using the the substr and <br> in the region source but it takes 3 lines by default even if it is not of 150 chars .I want to display it in 3 columns if it of 100+ chars.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
Using the col tag is the more proper way of fixing the width of a column.
If you don't want to use the col tag, you should change your expression to:
<table style="width:500px">
Firstly, you should use the unit of length (ie, "px") for any non-zero value and secondly because we are being encouraged to use the style attribute whenever possible as, as I understand it, this will become the standard.

How to fix the value of first column in the JTable in java swing for every
Hi ,
I have a swing page that have table panel in which there is a table of size 7x4 now when I click on the perticulat row then that row data will displayin the table like that the selected row become the second column in the new table and the fist column of this table will remain constant for all the entry but the second column update according to the roe which is selected .How it is possible .
Thanks in Advace,
anuOne thing you can do is to prevent the user from editing that column and programatically supply the values of that column yourself.
JTable table = new JTable() {
public boolean isCellEditable(int row, int col) {
if(col == 0) {
return false;
return super.isCellEditable(row, col);
};This allows you to prevent the user from editing the column information so you can supply some sort of a default value for the column always

What is the use of Position Column Name in USER_CONS_COLUMNS Table
Please let me know the purpose of POSITION Column Name in USER_CONS_COLUMNS Table.
Example :
Created this below Table having two constraints 1.Primary Key 2.Check Constraint
CREATE TABLE A(ID NUMBER PRIMARY KEY,NAME VARCHAR2(30),SAL NUMBER CHECK (SAL > 0))
When i execute the below query
SELECT POSITION,CONSTRAINT_NAME FROM USER_CONS_COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'A'
it displays the data :
POSITION CONSTRAINT_NAME
1 SYS_C005488
SYS_C005487
Only for the first record it displays the POSITION but not for the second row.
Kindly help me on this.SQL> CREATE TABLE A(
2 ID1 NUMBER
3 , ID2 NUMBER
4 , NAME VARCHAR2(30)
5 , SAL NUMBER CONSTRAINT A_SAL_POSITIVE CHECK (SAL > 0)
6 , CONSTRAINT A_PRIMARY_KEY PRIMARY KEY (ID1, ID2)
7 )
8 /
Table created.
SQL> SELECT CONSTRAINT_NAME, POSITION, COLUMN_NAME
2 FROM USER_CONS_COLUMNS
3 WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'A'
4 ORDER BY CONSTRAINT_NAME, POSITION
5 /
CONSTRAINT_NAME POSITION COLUMN_NAME
A_PRIMARY_KEY 1 ID1
A_PRIMARY_KEY 2 ID2
A_SAL_POSITIVE SALA primary key constraint can have multiple columns - the position shows the order the columns are in the primary key definition (and thus also in the pk supporting index.)
A check constraint does not have any such ordering of the columns involved, so therefore position is null. -
How to re-arrange the columns present in pivot table view in obiee 10?
Can you please tell me How to re-arrange the columns present in pivot table view in obiee 10?
I have columns as 1,2,3,4,6,7, in pivot table view.
I have calculated item (column 5 as summation of 1,2,3,4) and caluclated itme (column 9 as summation of 6,7)...now if i arrange ascending then calculated columns 5,9 don't get affected.
I need the order as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9 -
What is the maximum number of columns allowed on a table?
What is the maximum number of columns that a table can have? I have a research team that wants to have 140,000 columns on one table and 2000 rows.
What would be the best way to input (SQL*Loader?) that data on this table and retrieve data from this table? The highest number of columns that I have implemented on a table was 500.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. ;-)Holy cow 140,000 columns and 2000 rows!! I think you are going to have to tell someone to come up with a better design because that doesn't sound like a relational table. Besides, I found this in the Oracle 8.1.7 Reference Manual:
"The absolute maximum number of columns in a table is 1000. However, when you create an object table (or a relational table with columns of object, nested table, varray, or REF type), Oracle maps the columns of the user-defined types to relational columns, creating in effect "hidden columns" that count toward the 1000-column limit. For details on how Oracle calculates the total number of columns in such a table, please refer to Oracle8i Administrator's Guide." -
Resize column in a Pivot Table
Hi,
I've a pivot table and one of its columns contains a String that can be very long.
My problem is that if one of the rows has a long string, the column adjust itself to this width and if I want to see the next columns, I need to move the scrool.
I'd like to know if could be possible readjust the width of these column or if I could adjust the width and do something for the text to fit the width.
Thanks in advance.
Marcos.Any ideas?
Thanks -
Hiding a measure column in a pivot table in BI Answers
Hi,
I need a report to have a hierachical format such as:
Top Company
Middle Company
Customer Name Customer Id Customer Creation Date
To achieve this, I apparently need to add a measure column to the Rows data, but I don't want to show it.
Would anyone know how I can hide a measure column in a pivot table?
Many thanks,
- JennyMeasure Columns can't be hidden like an attribute. How ever you can use custom style sheet for Value and Header Properties to not show the measure.
for the "Custom CSS Style Options (HTML Only)" under measure properties of the column set "Use Custom CSS Style" value to 'display:none'.
Let me know if this worked.

How to fix the width of the column when using alv table
Hi ,
I am displaying the contents in a table. Of course using alv component i displayed the content. Now the problem is the column width is not fixed with value of the table entries( based on the domain length level). As length of field increases or decreses as the length of the content increases or decreases. I wanted to fix the column width whatever be the length of the contents.
Can any one help in this regard ?

Can't fix the width of a table
I've created a Master/ Detail page set and it seems to be working fine, but I'm having a problem with the page layout for both the master and detail pages. The generated code creates a table that extends to the right hand side of the page and is too wide. I tried setting the width of the table and the widths of the columns but these seem to be being ignored or over-ridden. The master page is here http://hollisterairshow.com/feedback-suggestions-master.php and as you can see the Feedback Number 9 is way too wide in both the master and detail pages.
I don't see any CSS settings that could cause these issues. I'd really appreciate pointers on where to look next. I'm using Win XP/ IE8, but the same problem occurs with Firefox v3.5
Thanks,
Tony BabbYou've added the table-layout attribute to the <body> tag and the <div class="container"> tag, not the <table> tag.
CSS attributes usually apply to specific tags. Some, such as width, apply widely to many tags. Others, such as table-layout, are very specific. Look up the correct use of a CSS property online before applying it.
The CSS table-layout attribute applies to the <table> tag:
http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_tab_table-layout.asp
http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/tables.html#width-layout
Thus add
#maincontent table {
table-layout: fixed;
once to your stylesheet.
That rule targets any <table> tag inside an element with id="maincontent".
