Flash acces with flash media serwer
there is any sample/manual how to connect flash access with flash media serwer ?
Currently, there is no document explaining Flash Access interaction with FMS. Also, FMS and FAXS do not communicate. The client communicates with both.
For Video-On-Demand (VOD) assets, they are encrypted with a license and policy. The player connects to FMS to start streaming the file, once the player starts the playback, the policy kicks in, and then the player contacts FAXS using the licensing info in the file. So the player communicates with both FMS and FAXS – the servers don’t communicate with each other.
So FAXS (and FMRMS, which is what version 1.x was called) only worked for the VOD case. Now with FAXS 2.0 for Protected Streaming you can use DRM for both Live and VOD HTTP streaming cases – but not for Live RTMP streaming. Here’s the link for the Protected Streaming docs: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashaccess/pdfs/FAXS_3_0_ProtectedStreaming.pdf
Now with FMS 4.5, there is protected HTTP Streaming for Flash (PHDS) and iOS (PHLS). To configure PHDS/PHLS, you provide the DRM protection (w/SWF Verification support) without requiring the license server:

Problem with NetConnection in Adobe AIR(Flex) using Flash Media Server.
Hi
I am creating a small chat application using Flash Media server. I have already created all my user interface components in Flex(Adobe AIR).In this application rather than sending text messages user can also send file to another user in his friend list.
problem what i am facing is, when i am sending file through FMS most of time it send successfully but for some files while sending application loss netconnection.
so i would like to know, rather than closing application what are other condition when FMS loses network connection?
Any help would be appreciated .
Thanks.Hi. It looks like your code is not finding the mp3. At least,
I can reproduce your error code by removing the mp3 from the
directory, or renaming it.
Btw, if you test with FF instead of IE, you'd see the error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2032:
Stream Error.

Hope that helps. -
Getting Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder work with Windows 8.1 on a GT72-2QD
Has anyone ever used Adobe Flash Media Encoder 3.1 or 3.2 to stream live under Windows 8.1? I can't get it detect an audio device with Windows 8.1 x64 on an MSI GT72-2QD laptop. I tried 2 different webcams but the result was the same. Both the internal mic and the ones going with the webcams work fine with other software but when I try FMLE it looks as follows:
It says that there's no audio device connected (although the mics work fine elsewhere), the source select dropout is blank and the audio parameters are grayed out and inactive even with the "audio" box checked. Both versions of FMLE work fine with the same cams on a desktop which has all the same tech specs but uses Win 7 x64. Running FMLE in Win7 compatibility mode or reinstalling with register cleaning doesn't help. I believe FMLE is getting in conflict either with the Windows 8.1 or with some of the preinstalled software (I haven't installed any programs yet other than the ones that came preinstalled with the laptop and uninstalled the Gamecaster prior to installing Adobe Encoder). Did you ever get this to work? I have been using, with a qualified degree of success, taking the HDMI output from a Canon Vixia HV30, to an AverMedia Game Boradcaster C127 to FMLE.
The qualification is: When the card is installed on an ITX board (GigaByte Z-77), in the single PCI-e slot, yes. In fact, I'm using it weekly now on my show.
Now, if I put the same card on an Asus Z77 Maxiumus Gene board, with or without an installed video card (GTX 660), and regardless of the positioning of the C127 in the first long PCI-e slot and the GTX 660 in the next one over, or pin the PCI-4 slot, I get "No Signal AverMedia" on the screen. Then I put it back on the ITX board (I5-2300 on there and 8GB RAM, using HDMI or DVI vidoe for the local monitor), the card then works properly.
I made sure I had the DirectShow codecs installed...and it didn't work on the larger board (plan was to be able to handle two capture cards like this in one "box" and still have a GPU in the main slot to help processing.
Any feedback appreciated. -
I'm looking for a capture device that is compatible with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder. I bought elgato but it is not compatible. Anyone know?
This is just a shot in the dark....
Do you have all your devices hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE? For example -- your camera or digitizer? When FMLE launches it will try to launch with the last known settings... including input devices. If it can't find these devices (they're not hooked up and on) it can crash, although in most situations it will simply show a default screen with default settings.
If you do have your equipment hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE, try unplugging them and then launching FMLE so that it opens up in default configuration mode (no input devices selected; all default settings). Then uncheck the "preview" boxes for both your input and output preview windows. Close FMLE and then plug in your equipment (and turn it on) and relaunch FMLE. I offer this suggestion as FMLE can sometimes act funny when the preview windows are open with certain types of input devices. Don't worry -- you don't have to keep the preview windows off forever. If you can get FMLE to successfully launch with the preview windows off, then you can set your settings however you like and save the profile. Then quit and relaunch FMLE and then turn the preview windows back on and see if it works. If it does, great. Just be aware that making any settings changes while the preview windows are open could result in FMLE crashing. Again -- this only happens with some capture devices, such as certain Dazzle capture boxes.
If none of this works, you could always try to upgrade to FMLE 3.2 and see if that solves your problem. -
Integrating Flash Media Server with other formats
I would like to create a standard screen/player that can play
any of the following formats:
windows media files, all flash files, quick time files, real
player files.
So, for example, lets say I want to manipulate the screen to
be an exact aspect ratio and have the same skin, and exact same
controls as my flash files, but I don't want to work with Real
Server or a Windows Media Server to serve these files what is the
best approach to take ? i.e. a "Standardized" look and feel for all
the formats listed.
Where would I be able to get information that will help me
achieve this ?There are two parts to this,
Flash Media Server application - both client and server side. Check out the video conference app here http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/sample_apps.html.
The client side app will be a .swf file which you can develop in Flash/Flex.
Second, you will have to embed this swf file in your asp.net page that will be delivered to browsers. I am not an expert in asp.net but googled a bit and get a feeling it's possible using
tag.
Also don't forget to check this link http://renaun.com/blog/2006/10/28/139/ for video conferencing app using flex and FMS. -
Compatibility problem with macro media flash active control
I am getting a message on my screen "compatibility problem with macro media flash active control, it isnt compatible with my version of windows (vista). How can this be fixed? why am I suddenly getting it now? I have the latest Adobe flash player installed.
Trishathe latest flash is probably the problem... it's seems that the latest flash has been causing a boat load of issues. i did a system restore to undo the flash and mozilla upgrades and it's still crashing but not as bad as it was with the upgrades.

Flash Media Encoder with multiple cameras?
Hi,
Is it possible to stream 2 or more cameras on one computer
with Flash Media Encoder, or are you restricted to one camera per
machine?
CheersHi,
As JayCharles explained to me, you run two instances of Flash
Media Encoder on the Computer. I was running 1 camera on just one
computer and so used 3 computers instead of using just the one
computer.
In my new case, I had 2 Cameras on the one machine.
When you launch Flash Media Encoder it will detect any
cameras you have on that computer, you will get a dropdown box so
you can choose which camera you want to use in this instance.
Choose the camera you want.
In the FMS URL box type the rtmp path to your Flash Media
server directory you want to stream this video to using either the
ip address or web address of the FMS server followed by the correct
path to where the file will be streamed to for example:
rtmp://192.168.1.10/vob/live
In the Stream Box type the name of the video file without the
.FLV tag, ie:
livevideo
Click the Connect button to connect the Video to the FMS
server.
When ready click the Start Button to start the stream.
So far you are streaming the video, but no one can see it.
Open a Dreamwaver page for example and go to:
Insert/Media/Flash Video (CS3)
or
Insert/Media/FLV (CS4)
Change the Video Type to Streaming Video
In the Server URI box type or paste in the rtmp address you
set:
rtmp://192.168.1.10/vob/live
In the Stream Name Box type in the Stream name you set in
Flash Media Encoder:
livevideo
The Skin type must be HALO, (Dont understand why you get no
choice)
Set the width and height of the Video on the page
Tick the Autoplay to play a pre recorded file, or tick Live
video feed if it is live.
Click ok.
If everything is correct then when you lauch the page the
video feed should be playing.
Lets assume it is, to add a second camera you just repeat the
same steps.
Open another instance of Flash Media Encoder on the Computer
you already have a feed running.
It might complain that the camera is already in use, as it
might try to connect to the same camera on the running application.
Open the Camera source dropdown and now choose the other
camera that should be available.
Put in the same info for the Server URI as you will also
stream to the same folder.
Chnage the Stream name now to:
livevideo2
Click Connect and also Start.
Open the Dreamweaver page you created for the first video.
Follow the same steps as before to create the Video on the
page
changing the name this time to livestream2.
You should now have 2 live video feeds on the same page using
two different cameras.
hope this helps. -
Archival services with Flash Media Server
I work for a broadcasting company and we do live telecast of
various events, mostly related to professional sports. We currently
have a Windows Media Encoder 9 setup with Windows Media Server,
etc. I have a custom written application that archives all of our
broadcasts. This was accomplished with the M$ media SDKs. Archival
means we record each one of our daily live feeds for review and
archival purposes (game footage for coaches, stuff like that).
We are currently looking at h.264 capable setups, or
something equivalent. We have been playing around with Adobe's
encoders, media server, and all that. We are impressed with the
quality. Switching to this right now has some logistical
complications, mostly related to an operational requirement based
on our current business model. Simply switching to h.264 overnight
isn't going to be possible; we will need to prepare.
So, with that in mind, I have a question relative to SDKs and
Flash. My current application (the archiver) can archive up to 120
events simultaneously on a single, reasonably fast machine on a
fast network. I have to be able to record at least 60 on a given
night, the 120 was discovered during testing and its faltering is
relative to network collisions and getting ethernet up to 40%
utilization more than not having enough CPU to process the streams.
I would need something similar for Adobe. I have the spec (at least
the public domain version) for the tunnelling protocol so reverse
engineering this isn't going to be a big deal. What I'm mosly
interested in is an SDK with functionality that allows me to record
a lot of streams in software for archival purposes. This SDK has to
be smart enough to deal with Disk I/O VERY intelligently because
clearly anything more than 8-12 realtime stream records to a disk
in a linear fashion is going to overload the hard drive.
Before anyone starts spouting off about DRM and piracy, we
are recording the broadcasts we own. This is for archival and this
archival process has to be automated (the app isn't JUST a
recorder, there's a whole process shielded from the operators of
this thing for defining stream locations, where to save the files,
and all that). I realize all this code that automates this process
for our company would still need to be written. What I'm interested
in specifically are readers and writers for flash streams,
especially relative to network reading and disk writing
(intelligent disk writing; I've written custom implementations of
MMS, HTTP, etc that mash the hard drive).
In a nutshell, is there an equivalent SDK for Adobe's
technology as the Windows Media Format SDK is for WMV files? This
is currently the only hurdle in implementing Adobe's h264
technology in lieu of our current setup (which is 100's of encoders
and locations at the current time, all over North America.
Thank you for your time.Take a look at On2's Flix SDK for Live. That uses the VP6 and
any day now, the h264 codec for FLV. -
Using Flash Media Live Encoder with a camera without FireWire
Hi,
Right now we have beeing using an old DV tape based camera connected to Flash Media Live Encoder via FireWire for live streaming.
We are looking at getting either an Sony AX2000 or HXR-NX5U camera as they are flash based. Unfortunately, they don't have FireWire ports.I image that I would not be able to stream via USB, but I'm not sure if anyone is familar with either of these cameras.
Does anyone know of any posisble way (ideally without new equipment) that this would work?
Ports on the HXR-NX5U
Audio Out RCA type (CH-1, CH-2)
Component Out RCA type (x3) via A/V multi connector
Composite Video Out RCA type (x1)
S-Video Out N/A (optional VMC-15FS is required.)
SDI Out BNC (x1)
HD-SDI/SD-SDI selectable
USB Mini-B (x1)
Thank you for your help!Hi there,
You may be able to take the RCA connection out of the new camera and put it in to your old DV camera if it has the avaliable inputs?
Also, USB is sometimes used for video so I woul have a look around for some info about it with your camera.
failing that your best bet would be to either buy a cheap Aanlog to Digital Concerter (ADC) that takes in composite and firewire on the RCAs. this woul mean that you are using the lowest quality and resolution that is avaliabe to you though!
You could stump up of an SDI or HDSDI input from the likes of AJA or Blackmagic. this would also give you the digitised XLR audio inputs
Hope this helps!

Cannot associate media file types .swf .flv with Adobe Flash media player
I have been trying to associate these media types ( .swf .flv ) with Adobe Flash media player (9.0.124 latest from Adobe site) but cannot see the program in the list (looked under Adobe, Flash, Macromedia, Common etc) after loading. I have repeated the process, rebooted, and no luck.
Any ideas why a new program should not show in the Programs list ?
thanks

Hey sdalek,
It's actually not all sites. I've found a few that work. I'll have a look for any difference in implementation to try to narrow down the issue.

Thanks, I'm curious to find out what's different. I've repair disk permissions again using the one in Disk Utility instead of Cocktail with not luck As far as I can tell, all my issues seem to be occurring solely on www.adultswim.com and is sill happening with Camino, Firefox, Safari, and SWF & FLV Player. I'll keep checking other sites to see if the problem manifests itself elsewhere and I'll post any other changes I make to my system that might appear to help.

Wowza with Flash Media Live Encoder
Video Quality Problem: Action Script netStream X Flash Media Encoder
Hi,
We're running Wowza to stream a live webcam from a Flex web application (using ActionScript 3 netStream method) for a 1 to 1 video chat.
We are able to stream it properly, but the quality does not look good at all (320 x 240, 300 Kbps, 15 fps).
We tried tweaking the paramenters (quality x bandwidth), but the quality is still surprisingly poor for a H.264 video.
Just out of curiosity, we decided to use Flash Media Encoder 3 to generate a live stream from the very same computer, with the very same webcam, at the very same video specs. The quality is much, much better than the one using the ActionScript 3 netstream approach. The difference is amazing!
So this leads us to believe that the problem is in the "encoder"; the Flash Media Encoder seems to be much for efficient in generating a high quality video stream, compared to ActionScript 3.
My question to you guys is: are we missing something? Are there any parameters on ActionScript 3 or even on Wowza that can increase the quality of video?
Installing Flash Media Encoder on each end user machine is impossible, so we really need this to work on the browser, via Action Script.
In other words: how can I make the quality of the video generated by ActionScript 3 be similar to the one we're able to achieve (remember: under the very same specs) on Flash Media Encoder?
Thanks in advance,
Julio Costa
[email protected]Hi,
That may not be possible with Flash Media Live Encoder directly. But you can use softwares like WebCamMax on Windows and CamTwist on Mac to add video affects while broadcasting with Flash Media Live Encoder.
You could refer to this post http://forums.adobe.com/message/2711776#2711776 .
For further help on Flash Media Live Encoder, you could post on http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash/flash_media_live_encoder .

Problem when streaming with the CLI flash media encoder 2.5
I have a problem when streaming with Flash Media Encoder 2.5. When I run the GUI, everything works, but when I use the commandline with the same profile I have created using the GUI, it says it can't connect to the server.
I have to use this version of the encoder, because the other is not working with the server, and I have to create a program to remotely control the flash media encoder, so I have to use the CLI. What can i do to go over this problem?
Any help would be really appreciated. Thankyou.First of all, thankyou.
There is no authentication needed. I can't use Flash Live Media Encoder 3 because it is not supported by the people which manages the server i have to connect to.
In fact, I don't know why they dont support it, but that is the way it is.
Through the GUI, i connect directly and without problems, without user/pass.
Thankyou again. -

Problem with Flash Media Encoder
We're having problems trying to use Flash Media Encoder in
conjunction with an Opsrey 230 card. The device shows up in the
Encoding Options panel but when we try to change any settings we
get the following error "Problem with video capture device. Please
verify that it is working correctly and is not already in use"
The card works fine with Windows Media Encoder. Viewcast
support suggested trying it again with SimulStream enabled, but
still no joy.
Can anyone help?

PhilDoesn't look like any of your capture cards are on the
confirmed compatibility list... I wish there was a confirmed
