Flash banner not displaying correctly

I am definitly a newbie to flash.  Actually just gave the free download a try on this project.  The trial ran out and that might be part of the reason why I can't figure out this problem.
I created a flash banner for a website, I have it embedded and it shows up, but it has cropped part of the scene, so the whole background image isn't showing.  I have tried resizing in my html, but it doesn't seem to affect the cropping issue.  You can view the site here.
Any help would be appreciated!
Margaret

If you cannot edit the file due to the trial period ending, I don't know what you can do except to purchase the software, but that will be unrelated to the banner not displaying what you expect.
I attempted to look at the page you linked, but the page is not loading, at least not quickly enough for me to feel comfortable waiting for it, so I passed on that.
A Flash file will display in its entirety regardlkess of what dimensions you specify in teh html code for it, it will just distort to fill the area defined for it.  So the file is most liikely displaying correctly.  What your problem might be is you might have placed an image in the banner without realizing that the stage defines the viewable dimensions you are limited to, so you may need to either adjust the size of the image to fit the stage, or adjust the stage size to suit the image.
It could be due to other reasons, but there isn't enough information about the design to determine as such.

  • Flash movie not displayed correctly in IE 8 on some Windows OS

    Has anyone seen this problem?
I'm using CS4 to export a basic flash movie with embed tags pre scripted...
And the issue is that on some OS systems using Vista or Windows 7 and IE 8 as a primary browser, it appears that IE 8 is not displaying the flash banner completely.... its CROPPING it off... This is very strange because the banner works fine in FireFox, IE7,Opera,Chrome but not I.E.8 on some OS systems...
If you google "Flash not displaying correctly in IE 8" you'll get alot of people with the same issues but no real definate fix...
Are there any suggestions as to what i could try?
Do i need different flash embed tags? Or is this a user issue?
Please Advise as soon as possible...
    Thanks

I'm sorry, i forgot to explain that I didn't upload the flash published html because it did and produced the exact same results.
The flash published still got cropped off on 1 vista os(I.E 8) running from a laptop and 1 windows 7(I.E. 8) latop os...
Its good to hear that you're able to see it clearly... however in my QA efforts, i've been asked to fix the issue or drop the flash banner all together.
I've tried every which way, i've even converted the embed tags (not uploaded by the way) to a js script and it STILL gets cropped of on 2 ie8 run OS systems...
And now i'm not sure what else to try on my end.
I'm currious if because this is an XML driven flash banner, this may be an issue? But it still doesn't explain why some people can see this in IE 8 as you can and others get a cropped banner like in my screen shot sample.
Again i invite everyone in the forum to take a look at the sample links, as i'd be curious to see who else is seeing this.
By the way "kglad" Thank you so much... please keep the suggestions coming... but everything you've suggested, i've tried.
This is very perplexing. Is this a setting issue? or is there some setting on the user side i'm not aware of? Either way, as usual... the flash developer is blamed so i must find a solution.

  • Flash images not displaying correctly

    Hi there,
First post here, but could really us the help.
I'm looking after this site:  http://theacademy.me/index.htm
The previous web developer set up a swfobject image rotator which didn't work before I got here. I wanted to get it working, but now the images display incorrectly in Firefox 8 and Safari 5.1.2. IE and Chrome are fine.
    What i did:
    1. Commented out this in index page to tidy it up (the file it points to doesn't exist)
    <script src="scripts/swfobject_modified.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    2. image rotator then displayed as it does now in Safari and Firefox
    3. Un- commented the code
    4. Image rotator still displaying incorrectly
    5. restored index page to the last known good version, when it did display correctly
    6. Image rotator still displaying incorrectly
SWfobject version is 1.5 I believe.
Also, the slideshow works fine on the local copy, but not live.
Any help would be great- please bear in mind I'm not a Flash guru- this is burning up a lot of time and I could do with some fresh eyes on the problem.
    Thanks!

    Hi Ned,
Thanks a lot for posting- I've been spending a lot of time checking every angle. I've managed to use the latest swfobject code as suggested to embed the video.
It's an improvement- the video now works on the live site in IE, but still doesn't play in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. It seems as if the browsers are rendering the final picture in the rotator gallery outside of the frame.
Here's what I've added to my test page at http://theacademy.me/index4.1d.htm:
    <script src="scripts/swfobject2.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

  • Flash Header not displaying correct size...CSS Problem?

I wanted to use Dreamweaver to build a simple one page site.  The problem I'm having is that my header 715 x 150 is displaying extremely small.  It appears that it is a percentage of the  715 x 150.  I can make it larger, but then the area made for it gets bigger as well and consumes the page.  Here is the site:  http://3due.com/index14.html .  If you can't view source, then let me know and I will post the code.
I'm sure it's something simple, but I've tried everything that I know of to try and isolate the issue.  I'm not familiar with CSS.
    Thanks in advance,
    mk

    Hey Snake,
You're right the expressinstall is missing.  I couldn't find it in DW.  I'm not sure how to locate it.
The image that you downloaded is the one on the home page and not the swf located on the index14.html page.  Here is the movie:
    http://3due.com/3d_header.swf
here is a screen shot of the actual size compared to the browser size, i'm not sure why it's showing this increased size in the browser.  This is the file that i uploaded using filezilla:

  • Flash not displaying correctly for only one web site

In the last 3 or 4 days I seem to have problems with the flash content of one single web site not displaying correctly from my laptop.  I have the same problem from both IE (version7.0.5730.11) and from FF (3.5.8).  The site works fine from my desktop system so it's not the site specifically.  The site (www.transparent.com/wotd/today/spanish.htm) has an embeded flash segment that does not display correctly and thus I can't click on two of the embedded buttons.  It also does not display the background pattern for the flash.  I'm running flash 10.0.45.2 based upon right clicking from within the embedded flash which takes me to the Adobe page with my version info.  The Adobe page seems to display fine.
As far as I know I'm not having problems with another instance of flash - only this site.
Any thoughts on how to diagnose the problem?  I've not added any new programs since this website stopped working but do have some background "tune up" programs that run.  I'm assuming some settings are out of wack but don't know where to start looking.  Any help folks woulc provide would be appreicated.

Well, that is hard to tell. Like I said the website may have updated their technology. Just because it works with the Desktop, doesn't mean there is not a reason that the laptop might not have a problem. You have 2 different systems and
    most likely different configurations.
You may want to check Tools and in the add ons for both, look for Shockwave Flash Object...ActiveX Control..Flash10e.ocx should be installed and enabled.
Also for each check C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Right click the Flash folder and make sure for IE that the files are vs 10.0.45.2 by checking the properties.
If you have the correct Flash files and the correct SWO then, some other cause would be looked at.
It has been my experience to not "assume", but verify:-)

  • Flash Animation: Font Not Displaying Correctly

    Hi all!
I am having a problem with a Flash animation in Captivate that seems like it should be an easy fix, but I can't seem to figure it out.
I have a very simple Flash animation that I developed in CS5. It previews in Flash perfectly, play correctly in Flash Player, but when I insert it into Captivate 4 the fonts do not display correctly. Capital letters are missing as well as other letters.
It's not a matter of AS2 vs. AS3 as I have already tested that. It also is not a frame rate or version issue as I have confirmed they are the same rates and the same version.
Can anyone shed any light? Anyone else had this same problem? Any guidance or suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Daniel

    Hi dmendoza2,
Did you embed your fonts into the flash animation?  Make sure all characters necessary are embedded.

  • Thai characters not displaying correctly within App

    Hi everyone,
I have a Adobe Flex Mobile app displays Thai text, however this is not displaying correctly. While developing the App on my Windows machine and testing using the Adobe Flash Builder mobile emulator, the font/characters look correct.
However when running the app on either the MAC Adobe Flash Builder emulator, the iPhone simulator or on an actual iPhone, the font/characters are incorrect.
First I thought that it was maybe an encoding issue (I am using locale properties files to replace text), so followed instructions at this website Flash Builder, Flex language bundles showing strange symbols. Not utf8 encoded.Sefol however this did not solve the issue.
Looking more closely at the text rendered, it looks as though all of the characters for each word are actually being rendered, but they are just being rendered in correctly. Where as if it was a encoding issue then it would be missing characters completely.
So if you look at the first character, in the correct version it is built up of 3 components. If you look at the second image, you can see that these three components are present but just not all appearing within one character.
Is this a font issue? or is it actually an encoding/rendering issue?
My code for testing this is just a simple label tag
    <s:Label text="ชื่อผู้ใช้" fontFamily="Arial" fontSize="12" />
    Many thanks.

Ok so after doing a bit more of an investigation into the Font being the issue and not the encoding type, it seems as though if I use a specific font which I know has the Thai characters, then they are displayed correctly.
I have embedded the font into the App using the code:
    [Embed(source="../assets/Kinnari.ttf", mimeType="application/x-font", embedAsCFF="true", fontFamily="ThaiFont")]
      private var ThaiFont:Class;
Then on my UI I have added the font:
    <s:Label text="ชื่อผู้ใช้" fontFamily="Arial" fontSize="12" fontFamily="ThaiFont" />
I was able to find this font at a Hawaiian Educational website! Thai fonts :: Thai Language Program, University of Hawai'i, Manoa
    Thanks @tooMuchTrouble for your help.

  • JPG images not displayed correctly in Bridge and Photoshop (Mac OS)

(Note: I have copied the content of this query from the Creative Suites forum where I originally opened it.)
I am using CS4 under OSX 10.4.11 on a PowerMac G5 Quad with 23" Apple cinema display. Images which have been captured as JPG are displayed fine by Preview, but when opened in Bridge, Camera Raw or Photoshop. the colours are all "washed out". The attached screen capture should give an idea of the difference, with the upper being Camera Raw (image settings) and the lower being Preview. My monitor has been calibrated and I'm using sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour space in Camera Raw and Photoshop. The colours displayed by Preview are pretty close to "real life". I find it virtually impossible to adjust the colours in Photoshop to get back to anything similar.
After opening the image in Photoshop without adjustment, and Save As JPEG with embedded color profile, Preview displays the new image the same as Photoshop. Save As JPEG without embedded color profile, and Preview displays this copy just like the original. It seems that Photoshop is making different (incorrect) assumptions about what color space to use when there is no embedded color profile. Shouldn't it assume sRGB like virtually everything else (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRGB)? Or is its interpretation of sRGB incorrect? How can I fix this?

…If there is someone out there who has experience of obtaining decent colour management in CS4 on a Power PC, I would really like to know how you achieved it.
That would be yours truly, and I hasten to reply because I may have some insights that can help you too.
Just get it it out of the way, here's my setup:
Photoshop 11.0.2 ("CS4"); VersionCue disabled and uninstalled.—2.5 GHz Power Mac (PPC) G5-Quad; 16GB RAM; mutant, flashed 550MHz nVidia GeForce 7800GTX 1,700MHz 512MB VRAM; ATTO ExpressPCI UL5D LP SCSI card; Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 and Leopard 10.5.8 boot drives; Spotblight, Dashboard and Time Machine permanently disabled; dual 22" CRT monitors; USB wireless 'n' available but connected to the Internet via wired Ethernet; 1 FW flatbed scanner; 2 SCSI scanners (one tabloid-size transparency scanner and a film scanner); various internal & external HDs; FW Epson 2200 and Ethernet Samsung ML-2850ND printers; 2 X Back-UPS RS 1500 XS units.
I can unambiguously and in good faith represent to you that my color management, from capture to print, is as spot-on as anyone with any kind of setup can hope to achieve.  Unequivocally and without qualifications.
Now, first things first:  Forget about trying to synchronize color management across the point applications lumped together only by Adobe marketing fiat into a variety of meaningless "creative suites".  Concentrate on Photoshop.  Do not try to use Bridge to synchronize anything.
The "suites" are a totally artificial construct created by Adobe bean counters and marketing types.  The point applications (i.e. the individual programs clumsily bundled together, e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) are developed independently by separate engineering teams that are not only not in the same building, but in different cities, different states of the American Union, and even in different countries.  They have very little communication among them, if any, as evidenced by repeated posts in these forums by Photoshop engineering staff urging us, the end users, to let the other teams know in their own forums that a given problem exists and is actually affecting our work.
Enough said about the cause of the problem.  The end result is that Color Management is at very, very different levels of progress and sophistication in each individual point application, with only Photoshop fully entitled to be considered state of the art.
Secondly, a disclaimer:  I have been hanging on to my CRT monitors and take care of them as Jascha Heifetz used to take care of his Stradivarius.  I don't know what I will do if I manage to outlive the usefulness and accuracy of my CRTs (unlikely at this point).  I have despaired in futile efforts to bring the luminosity of any LCD monitor down to where I would feel comfortable calibrating and profiling it.  I believe my monitors are the foundation of my color management efforts.
Especially if you have one of the extreme wide-gamut LCD or LED monitors, you'll face an uphill battle.
Be careful to avoid any version 4 icc profiles, whether canned or generated by your calibration software.  Stick to version2 icc profiles.  Ask the manufacturer of your calibration software/hardware if in doubt.
Here are some not-too-recent, but thoroughly representative screen shots of the calibration results I obtain with my monitors, which I calibrate and profile often and regularly (I validate the calibration at least several times per month).
In a nutshell, my color management practices and settings mirror those described by Bruce Fraser, Jeff Schewe, Andrew Rodney and Gary Ballard's site.  I have learned from all of them.
My working color space is ProPhoto RGB.  I choose to work with PSD and PSB files.  As a long-time, rabid JPEG hater, I only rarely deal with JPEGs, using them sporadically to illustrate a point in this forum or elsewhere in the web.  My main output consists of prints.
I only deal with tagged image files (files with an embedded color profile) and often recommend beating up with a baseball bat any moron that hands you an untagged file—figuratively of course, but I find the expression gets my point across unambiguously.
Following is a screen shot of some of my pertinent settings:
Note that I have never bought into the "suite" concept myself.  I do have and routinely use Adobe Illustrator 10.x, InDesign 2.x and Acrobat Professional 8.x, but they are all older, independent versions of each point application, licensed at different times.
Be further advised, that the answer to many problems offered by Adobe engineers often is not to install VersionCue, or uninstall it, or at least disable it.
Also, as outlined at the beginning of this post, concentrate on Photoshop, not on synchronizing applications that can't really communicate with each other, despite the claims of Adobe marketing hacks to the contrary.
One big caveat, do not fall into this trap:
    xxxxyyyyz wrote:
…I believe my problem has nothing to do with my monitor profile, for several reasons, but…
…It seems extremely unlikely to me that…
You either want to learn, or you don't.  You either want to solve your problems, or you don't.
When you start arguing instead of studying, questioning advice instead of following it and detecting where you went wrong, you're on the right track to nowhere.  That attitude will get you there fast.  Remember you are the one with the problem, and only you can acquire the discipline to learn how to solve it.
Go ahead and ask me anything that is not clear, just don't argue with me please, and don't tell me why you think Fraser, Rodney, Ballard and I are wrong.  You see, I am not experiencing any problem that needs fixing.  I have an interest in helping you, but not in hearing about your speculations, theories or conclusions.
    Good luck.

Since updating to Firefox 31.0, the vast majority of Google / web fonts are not displaying correctly, including icons that are being replaced with random characters. When I view the Google web fonts page, only a few display correctly, the rest just default to a sans-serif font.
    - I've tried running in safe mode with no add-ons enabled.
    - I've tried disabling all add-ons then re-enabling one by one.
    - I've checked the tickbox in the font settings for 'Allow pages to use their own fonts' is ticked
Any help appreciated, it's got quite frustrating now.
    Thanks, Greg

You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).
You can try different default fonts and temporarily disable website fonts to test the selected default font.
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
*[ ] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can check for problems with preferences.
You can check the <b>gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page and make sure that it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value).
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_preferences
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • GIF not displaying correctly

Hello! I'm trying to do animation in flash using GIFs I made (with transparency )as motion tweens, but I have an issue.
The gifs are playing fine, but after a while, after a certain frame, they are not displaying as they should and are instead displaing only certain random locations from these gifs, sometimes even becoming 99% of the area transparent.
When I go check the bitmaps on flash, they are also not displaying correctly and are indeed displaying the same wronge image that shows up on the preview, but when I preview the GIF I previously made in a browser then it shows perfectly ok.
Here is the gif I made (Working fine) : CAR-ANIM.gif - Google Drive
Here is what happens to it in FLash (it already has the background so don't pay atention to that) : Untitled-1.swf - Google Drive
So why is this happening? why is flash not loading or showing up these gifs correctly? Thanks in advance for the help.

I don't really know. If I look at your original gif, it has 47 frames and all of the frames look fine. When I import that gif into a Flash movie, I see the extra artifacts in the last 8 or so frames. If I import any other gif into a Flash movie, it looks and runs as expected.
If I remove the last few bitmaps from the list in the movie's Library, I can remove the problem from the playback. That's a simple solution, but it doesn't explain the source of the problem.

  • I have created a powerpoint web app in sharepoint 2013 ,i used a ppt in this web app.My ppt image is not displaying correctly in MAC mozilla firefox

I am facing this problem in MAC OS Mozilla Firefox. It is displaying correctly in other browsers like google chrome and internet explorer in MAC OS,but it is not displaying correctly in Mozilla firefox.
I already checked the possible reasons like:
    1. Restarted my computer
    2. Clear cookies and cache
    3. Restarted Firefox in Safe Mode
    4. Troubleshoot all plugins
    5. Reinstalled Firefox
    6. Reset Firefox.
anyone know how to fix this issue.I am waiting for your valuable answers.

Looking at [http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/82591/in-powerpoint-web-app-2013-ppt-is-not-displayed-correctly-in-mac-os-mozilla-fire your screen shot] it reminds me of a problem with Flash on the Retina display not using the full area if hardware acceleration of graphics is disabled. See [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/968863 I'm only getting one quarter of a screen on Flash Player on Firefox] (unsolved).
Not sure if that's relevant but does the display of the slide change if you make sure that hardware acceleration is enabled? The checkbox is here:
Firefox menu > Prefences > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
Note that any changes take effect after you exit and restart Firefox.
To see whether Firefox actually is using hardware acceleration, you can check the troubleshooting information. Either:
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Toward the end, in the Graphics section, look for this row:
    GPU Accelerated Windows
The number will show a ratio of accelerated to non-accelerated window. If hardware acceleration is disabled, the first number will always be zero.
By the way, is the SharePoint PPT viewer using Flash, or Silverlight, or another plugin? Typically Firefox will display an icon that looks a bit like a "Lego" block in the address bar showing what plugins are in use in the page.

  • Overlapping DIV not displaying correctly

HALP!  I have overlapped a DIV on purpose, the correct DIV is displayed on top on some computers but not on others and does not display correctly in Internet Explorer at all.
My link is below.  I would like to display the DIV with the flash underneath the Bat DIV.
    http://batengineering.bdaonline.co.nz/
Can anyone out there help me!

I see in IE6 that transparency is not handled well at all. .pngs are dicey with IE6.
If you want to make your Flash movie lie down behind the bat image, you need to give it a wmode="opaque". Otherwise, the Flash will always come to the front.
In IE6, IE7, and IE8, your top menubar is breaking, the right hand end cap is falling to the second line. You might want to put a little ease into it somehow.
On all IE and on Firefox on the Mac, there seems to be a nasty white vertical stripe on the right side...maybe a gap in width of the background image. Check to make sure you have a default background-color to make that go away.
On Safari on the Mac and Firefox on the PC, the Flash does not seem to show up at all in BrowserLab, although I see it on my XP; could be an artefact of BrowserLab's process.
W3c finds a few errors in the markup: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://batengineering.bdaonline.co.nz/&charset=(detect+a utomatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0

This was seen in Build 3291.
    Cheers

    Hi Chris,
you're right, Times New Roman does not contain the glyph. I
was seeing 2013 whlie I type 2011 -- my mistake, sorry.
However, it's a pity non of the OTFs implement this glyph
(also Myriad Pro doesn't, for instance). Open Office 3 seems to
replace it by a hypen (which is greyed), and InDesign CS4 also
seems to replace the character and does no word-wrap at this
    position.
Of course it would be very convenient if Flash could handle
    it the same way..
Btw, character map is the same as my "chart table
application", at least it's my translation from the German
    "Zeichentabelle". :-)
So, sorry again for the confusion...

  • Div header tag - not displaying correctly

I thought I had resolved an issue with a div header tag, but - as per a reply in my 'text as gif' thread, possibly not!
The header contains three images; a logo, a banner (text), and a picture of a castle.  These should display in a  line.
When I first set it up, I realised that the castle picture was normally ending up below the other two on smaller screens etc.
So I changed the dims for my div container from min 760px/max 1260px, to a set width (960px).  I then rejigged the three images so the widths were within 960px, with some to spare for the spacing (total widths of the three are 900: hspacing another 20 pixels).  There is no padding/borders defined.  Therefore the total should be well within the 960 width (?).
It looks fine on my PC (widescreen); in 3 browsers, using the restore down menu command (ie to make it not full screen), and by  using the Dreamweaver multiscreen preview (phone, tablet, smaller desktop).  It wasn't ideal (as scrolling required), but at least meant the header (and the rest of the screen) displayed correctly, ie in a horizontal line (and then sidebar - content - sidebar).
If I set my container width much smaller, most of the screen will be green (the body) in big screens.
If I rejig the dimensions, it's all a bit hit and miss (and why don't the current dimensions work?).
Do I need to define the width of the header (as well as the container)?
    Help!  Thank you

Hi there, I started off using one big image, but it didn't look right with regards to size and placing (ie I wanted the logo on the left edge, the castle on the right edge, etc). When you say slice, what do you mean?  One image in from fireworks, and then ... ? Thanks again

Certainly don't use 'vspace' and 'hspace' to position the images. If you want to use 3 seperate images start by setting them us as one complete image then slice it into 3 images. Then use the following css to position the images side by side. #header img If the total sum of the width of the images is the same or does not exceed 960px then the images should be in a nice row side by side. They will actually sit side by side without using 'float' but you'll get a small gap between them which will be added to the sum of the width which will exceed 960px causing the third image to drop onto the next line.
