  • How to bind flash to sql server DB or any DB?

    hi everyone
i have searched a lot in the net and haven't found what i am looking for so i though asking you nice people out there.im working on a project, in which i need to bind my flash to SQL server data base and i don't know how.
what i want to do is: i have this "text area component" / "text input component" on the stage and i want the text written in it passed to a SQL server data base(be saved in the DB table). and also i want to dynamically show content of the database(mainly texts) on the stage(which i think i should use dynamic text for it ).
please can anyone help? im in urgent need of that.
    thanks in advanced.

I am not familiar with working with an sql server, but the way to get Flash interacting with a database is to have a server-side script, such as PHP, acting as the middle man for sending and receiving data between Flash and the DB.
Here's a link to a tutorial showing how to have Flash work with a MySQL DB with PHP...

  • Oracle warehouse Builder Sql server connectivity

    Hi ...
I want to import tables from sqlserver into my datawarehous
    using warehouse builder 3i.
Is it posiible to connect to sqlserver from warehouse builder.
Do we have any gateways available for connecting sqlserver.
    I wouid appreciate any help.
    Regards
    Gopi

    Hi,
The gateway that Oracle provides for this purpose is Pure
Integrate. In pure integrate define a project(as we do in
warehouse builder). Then configure your ODBC source(it supports
SQl server, MS Access and variuos other Databases).Once defined
and configured take export of the project and import in
    warehouse builder.
In OWB then You can keep on adding various modules and other
object in the imported Projects. The imported project will have
source module as configured in Pure integrate. With this you
don't need to export SQl server objects as flat files.

  • Increase Performance and ROI for SQL Server Environments

    May 2015

The Buzz from Microsoft Ignite 2015
NetApp was in full force at the recent Microsoft Ignite show in Chicago, talking about solutions for hybrid cloud, and our proven solutions for Microsoft SQL Server and other Microsoft applications.
Hot topics at the NetApp booth included:
OnCommand® Shift. A revolutionary technology that lets you move virtual machines back and forth between VMware and Hyper-V environments in minutes.
Azure Site Recovery to NetApp Private Storage. Replicate on-premises SAN-based applications to NPS for disaster recovery in the Azure cloud.
These tools give you greater flexibility for managing and protecting important business applications.

    Director, EIS Technical Marketing, NetApp
If your organization runs databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle DB, you probably know that these vendors primarily license their products on a "per-core" basis. Microsoft recently switched to "per-core" rather than "per-socket" licensing for SQL Server 2012 and 2014. This change can have a big impact on the total cost of operating a database, especially as core counts on new servers continue to climb. It turns out that the right storage infrastructure can drive down database costs, increase productivity, and put your infrastructure back in balance.
In many customer environments, NetApp has noticed that server CPU utilization is low—often on the order of just 20%. This is usually the result of I/O bottlenecks. Server cores have to sit and wait for I/O from hard disk drives (HDDs). We've been closely studying the impact of all-flash storage on SQL Server environments that use HDD-based storage systems. NetApp® All Flash FAS platform delivers world-class performance for SQL Server plus the storage efficiency, application integration, nondisruptive operations, and data protection of clustered Data ONTAP®, making it ideal for SQL Server environments.
Tests show that All Flash FAS can drive up IOPS and database server CPU utilization by as much as 4x. And with a 95% reduction in latency, you can achieve this level of performance with half as many servers. This reduces the number of servers you need and the number of cores you have to license, driving down costs by 50% or more and paying back your investment in flash in as little as six months.

Whether you're running one of the newer versions of SQL Server or facing an upgrade of an earlier version, you can't afford not to take a second look at your storage environment.
End of Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is Rapidly Approaching
Microsoft has set the end of extended support for SQL Server 2005 for April 2016—less than a year away. With support for Microsoft Windows 2003 ending in July 2015, time may already be running short.
If you're running Windows Server 2003, new server hardware is almost certainly needed when you upgrade SQL Server. Evaluate your server and storage options now to get costs under control.
    Test Methodology
To test the impact of flash on SQL Server performance, we replaced a legacy HDD-based storage system with an All Flash FAS AFF8080 EX. The legacy system was configured with almost 150 HDDs, a typical configuration for HDD storage supporting SQL Server. The AFF8080 EX used just 48 SSDs.
Table 1) Components used in testing.
    Test Configuration Components
    Details
    SQL Server 2014 servers
    Fujitsu RX300

    Data ONTAP version
    Clustered Data ONTAP® 8.3.1
    Drive number and type
    48 SSD

The test configuration consisted of 10 database servers connected through fibre channel to both the legacy storage system and the AFF8080 EX. Each of the 10 servers ran SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition.
The publicly available HammerDB workload generator was used to drive an OLTP-like workload simultaneously from each of the 10 database servers to storage. We first directed the workload to the legacy storage array to establish a baseline, increasing the load to the point where read latency consistently exceeded 20ms.
That workload was then directed at the AFF8080 EX. The change in storage resulted in an overall 20x reduction in read latency, a greater than 4x improvement in IOPS, and a greater than 4x improvement in database server CPU utilization.
Figure 2) NetApp All Flash FAS increases IOPS and server CPU utilization and lowers latency.
    Source: NetApp, 2015
In other words, the database servers are able to process four times as many IOPS with dramatically lower latency. CPU utilization goes up accordingly because the servers are processing 4x the work per unit time.
The All Flash FAS system still had additional headroom under this load.
    Calculating the Savings
Let's look at what this performance improvement means for the total cost of running SQL Server 2014 over a 3-year period. To do the analysis we used NetApp Realize, a storage modeling and financial analysis tool designed to help quantify the value of NetApp solutions and products. NetApp sales teams and partners use this tool to assist with return on investment (ROI) calculations.
The calculation includes the cost of the AFF8080 EX, eliminates the costs associated with the existing storage system, and cuts the total number of database servers from 10 to five. This reduces SQL Server licensing costs by 50%. The same workload was run with five servers and achieved the same results. ROI analysis is summarized in Table 2.
Table 2) ROI from replacing an HDD-based storage system with All Flash FAS, thereby cutting server and licensing costs in half.
    Value
    Analysis Results
    ROI
    65%
    Net present value (NPV)
    $950,000
    Payback period
    six months
    Total cost reduction
More than $1 million saved over a 3-year analysis period compared to the legacy storage system
Savings on power, space, and administration
    $40,000
Additional savings due to nondisruptive operations benefits (not included in ROI)
    $90,000
    Source: NetApp, 2015
The takeaway here is that you can replace your existing storage with All Flash FAS and get a big performance bump while substantially reducing your costs, with the majority of the savings derived from the reduction in SQL Server licensing costs.
Replace your existing storage with All Flash FAS and get a big performance bump while substantially reducing your costs.
    Maximum SQL Server 2014 Performance
In addition to the ROI analysis, we also measured the maximum performance of the AFF8080 EX with SQL Server 2014. A load-generation tool was used to simulate an industry-standard TPC-E OLTP workload against an SQL Server 2014 test configuration.
A two-node AFF8080 EX achieved a maximum throughput of 322K IOPS at just over 1ms latency. For all points other than the maximum load point, latency was consistently under 1ms and remained under 0.8ms up to 180K IOPS.
    Data Reduction and Storage Efficiency
In addition to performance testing, we looked at the overall storage efficiency savings of our SQL Server database implementation. The degree of compression that can be achieved is dependent on the actual data that is written and stored in the database. For this environment, inline compression was effective. Deduplication, as is often the case in database environments, provided little additional storage savings and was not enabled.
For the test data used in the maximum performance test, we measured a compression ratio of 1.5:1. We also tested inline compression on a production SQL Server 2014 data set to further validate these results and saw a 1.8:1 compression ratio.
Space-efficient NetApp Snapshot® copies provide additional storage efficiency benefits for database environments. Unlike snapshot methods that use copy-on-write, there is no performance penalty; unlike full mirror copies, NetApp Snapshot copies use storage space sparingly. Snapshot copies only consume a small amount of storage space for metadata and additional incremental space is consumed as block-level changes occur. In a typical real-world SQL Server deployment on NetApp storage, database volume Snapshot copies are made every two hours.
First introduced more than 10 years ago, NetApp FlexClone® technology also plays an important role in SQL Server environments. Clones are fully writable, and, similar to Snapshot copies, only consume incremental storage capacity. With FlexClone, you can create as many copies of production data as you need for development and test, reporting, and so on. Cloning is a great way to support the development and test work needed when upgrading from an earlier version of SQL Server. You'll sometimes see these types of capabilities referred to as "copy data management."
A Better Way to Run Enterprise Applications
The performance benefits that all-flash storage can deliver for database environments are significant: more IOPS, lower latency, and an end to near-constant performance tuning.
If you think the performance acceleration that comes with all-flash storage is cost prohibitive, think again. All Flash FAS doesn't just deliver a performance boost, it changes the economics of your operations, paying for itself with thousands in savings on licensing and server costs. In terms of dollars per IOPS, All Flash FAS is extremely economical relative to HDD.
And, because All Flash FAS runs NetApp clustered Data ONTAP, it delivers the most complete environment to support SQL Server and all your enterprise applications with capabilities that include comprehensive storage efficiency, integrated data protection, and deep integration for your applications.
For complete details on this testing look for NetApp TR-4303, which will be available in a few weeks. Stay tuned to Tech OnTap for more information as NetApp continues to run benchmarks with important server workloads including Oracle DB and server virtualization.

  • Modeler development - Flash Builder 4 and LCDS JBoss

    Hi,
I am trying out modeler development in Jboss, Followed the below steps and I am getting error while deploying the model
1         Installed LCDS 3.0 as JBoss.
2         Uncommented the RDS configuration in web.xml of lcds.war.
    3         Copied lcds.war to jboss-4.2.3.GA\server\default\deploy folder.
4         Configured Flash builder RDS Server to point Jboss.
5         Created Data model from Database.
6      Getting error while deploying the model.(PFA JBoss Error-1.txt)
I am assuming bug LCDS-408 does not apply to Jboss 4.2.3.GA, but still went ahead and removed hibernate related JAR from WEB-INF/lib folder.
After this change while deploying the model(fml) following error pops up in flash builder. Corresponding JBOSS log in JBoss Error-2.txt
I did not find any documents /blogs related to modeler development in JBoss
Please help me on this, Thanks in advance

  • Which service pack should I install if I have SQL Server 2012 RTM version 11.0.2100.60

I read the recommendation "SQL Server 2012 RTM is no longer in mainstream support. If you wish to continue getting fixes, you should absolutely plan on migrating to the SP2 branch;" from

    Hi,
Yes RTM version of SQL Server 2012 is not supported. You have to apply SQL Server 2012 SP2 below link will help you in doing it

  • Flash Builder and Extendscript

    Hello,
Have been out of the Adobe ecosystem for sometime now. I wanted to know if Flash Builder could serve as a platform for developing extensions to CS apps with Extendscript, or maybe now Flex or straight JavaScript? It seems Adobe's IDE would be a natural place to offer their plugin and exention tools for building on CS and other apps.
    Thanks!
    Steve

the issue is already reported here:

  • How do you connect Flash Builder to a NON-LOCAL PHP Server?

Is it possible to connect Flash Builder 4 to a non-local PHP Server?  In my case, I want to connect to a PHP server on my web-host (similar to GoDaddy).
This seems like a really stupid question, but every single tutorial or forum post I've Googled in the past 2 hours talk about how easy this is but all of them use "...localhost..." in the Root URL and I can't find anywhere in Flash Builder to enter FTP style credientals!
I do not want to turn my PC into a PHP/SQL/IIS server.  I want to be able to do all of my work remotely as I do with Dreamweaver.
I've been trying to do this one simple thing for the better part of 2 days and can't believe how under-documented this feature is.
    Please please please help!
    Thanks

    http://servername/reports, but this failed.
However, If I change URL to http://servername/reportserver, it works.  BUT NOW, I have
    another problem.  When I
execute the RUN button to create report, I get a  permission
error.  "PERMISSION GRANTED TO USER ARE
    INSUFFICIENT FOR  PERFORMING THIS OPERATION".
    7)  Finally, I can not save reports to http://servername/reportserver when I select "Recent
    Site and Servers".  ERROR
MESSAGE:  UNABLE TO OPEN OR SAVE REPORT
    8)  In my Reporting Services Configuration Manager:
    Web URL = http://servername:80/ReportServer
    Report Manager URL = http://servername:80/reports.
What is strange, the Report Manager URL works for IE URL and WEB URL works for
Report Builder connect (Even though it really does not work).
    THREE QUESTIONS:
    1)  What URL should I use to connect in Report Builder.
    2)  How do I update my normal Windows 7 user so I can run reports when I connect to report
    builder.
    3)  How can I save my reports so they are displayed in IE Reporting services.  Note:  I was
    able to save report to
documents folder and import into IE Reporting Services.
    4)  And finally, is it possible to add report builder 3.0 as a tab in my IE Reporting Services.  I
save seen samples of Reporting Services screens where the instructor has Report Builder
    tab.
    Thanks
    Dan

To answer question 1... it should connect through /ReportServer
    http://bretstateham.com/reporting-services-architecture-diagram%E2%80%A6/
Report Builder 3.0 is not a web application, it is a client side application can be used using the click-once or downloaded from Microsoft's website.  If you are having issues, you might download and install it and try running it as an administrator.

  • Report Builder 1.0 for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2

We are trying to implement Ad-Hoc Reporting using SSRS 2008 R2.
First of all, it is very unhelpful that all SSRS books are for either 2008 or 2012, even though SSRS has major changes in 2008 R2 compared to 2008.
Our instructional materials indicate that we should build Report Models to abstract out our databases into terms familiar to our business users.
The problem we are having is the difference in functionality between Report Builder 1.0 and Report Builder 3.0. Report Builder 3.0 is touted as having the modern, ribbon based interface that is supposed to make end-users feel more comfortable.  However,
all the documentation says that end users are supposed to use Report Builder 1.0 for Ad-Hoc Reporting.  And, it seems, that the reports generated by Report Builder 1.0 are not round-trip compatible with all the other reporting tools for SSRS 2008 R2.
The documentation we have illustrates that Report Builder 1.0 is nice for Ad-Hoc reporting, because is based on connecting directly to Report Models, and the end users can directly drag-and-drop entities and fields into their reports.
When we try working with Report Builder 3.0, it seems we must first connect to the Report Model as a Data Source and then build a Dataset query on the Report Model.  Only then are some entity attributes available to be dropped into the report.
If the user decides another source column is needed, they have to go back, edit the query, save the query, and then drag the column from the Dataset to the report.  This does not seem end user friendly at all!
We are also concerned that if we train our users on the seemingly soon-to-be-obsolete Report Builder 1.0, and get them used to having direct Report Model access, that at some point we will have to move them to the Dataset-interrupted approach of Report Builder
2+.  Highlighting this perception of impending obsolescence of Report Builder 1.0 is that in our shop that is starting with SSRS 2008 R2, we cannot figure out how to get a copy of Report Builder 1.0 in the first place.
We just don't see our end users being savvy enough to handle the steps involved with creating Datasets on top of Report Model Data Sources.  So we would have to build the Datasets for them.  But in that case, what point is there in creating any
Report Models in the first place if DBAs are the ones to make Datasets?
As such, it is hard to envision a forward-looking SSRS implementation that has the end user ease-of-use Ad-Hoc reporting that the SSRS 2008 documentation presents.
What is it that Microsoft actually wants/expects SSRS implementers to do?

    Hi Dan,
    Report Builder 1.0
    Simple template-based reports
    Requires report model
Supports only SQL Server, Oracle, and Analysis Services as data sources
    Supports RDL 2005
    Bundled in SSRS
    Report Builder 2.0 or later
Full-featured reports as the BIDS Report Designer
Doesn't require (but supports) report models
    Supports any data source
    Supports RDL 2008
Available as a separate web download
In your scenario, you want to use Report Builder 1.0 in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2, I am afraid this cannot achieve. Report Builder 1.0 is available in the box in either SQL 2005 or SQL 2008. It is not available as a separate client apps and is
only available as a click once application.
    Report Builder 1.0
    Report Builder 3.0
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Query a dataset in MS SQL Server Report Builder and get splitted output of one of the fields

    Hi experts,
I have a dataset in MS SQL Server Report Builder containing some rows like the following:
    FIELD-1
    FIELD-2
    FIELD-3
    1
    efgh
    xjhg[R]ztazutsuz[R]9
    2
    abcd
    1234[R]abcd[R]5678
    What I need is:
    FIELD-1
    FIELD-2
    FIELD-3
    1
    efgh
    xjhg
    1
    efgh
    ztazutsuz
    1
    efgh
    9
    2
    abcd
    1234
    2
    abcd
    abcd
    2
    abcd
    5678
    Can this be done?
I'll be very happy when one finds a solution.
    Kind regards,
    Peter

    try like this..
    Declare @ta table ([FIELD-1] int, [FIELD-2] nvarchar(100), [FIELD-3] nvarchar(100))
    insert into @ta
select 1, 'efgh', 'xjhg[R]ztazutsuz[R]9' union all
    select 2, 'abcd', '1234[R]abcd[R]5678'
    select t.[FIELD-1],t.[FIELD-2], a.b.value('.','nvarchar(100)') as [FIELD-3] from @ta t
    Cross apply
    (select cast('<R><C>' + replace(t.[FIELD-3],'[R]','</C><C>')+ '</C></R>' as xml) as XStr ) x

  • Report builder error after applying sql server 2008R2 SP3 when click on report builder gives error like 'Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue.

    Hi All,
I applied SQL server 2008 R2 SP3 recently but report builder doesn't work since then
When click on report builder gives error like 'Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue.
and when I try to see details the error summary like following:
+File, Microsfot.ReportingServices.ComponentLibrary.Controls.dll, has a different computed hash than specified in manifest.
    this is urgent.
    Please reply me asap.

    Regards, Naman

    Hi nikp11,
According to your description, you recently updated SQL Server 2008 R2 to SP3, Report Builder doesn’t work since then the error occurs: "Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue".
This is an known issue in SSRS 2008 R2 SP3 that Microsoft has published an article addressing this issue. It is not planning to release a fix for this issue. But we could implement one of the following workarounds:
Install and run Report Builder 3.0 of SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM.
Install and run Report Builder of SQL Server 2014.
Uninstall Service Pack 3 then uninstall Service Pack 2 and then reinstall Service Pack 3.
    Reference:
Report Builder of SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 3 does not launch
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • How to build a report in web Intelligence using Store procedure under Microsoft SQL Server 2000

    Post Author: ltkin
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    Hi,
How to build a report in web Intelligence using Store procedure under Microsoft SQL Server 2000 ?
    Regards,

    Hi ltkin,
Unfortunately, it is not possible in Xir2 to create Webi reports from stored procedures.
Webi reports can only be created from Universe. So in Business Objects XIR3 we can create a special universe that enables Web Intelligence user's to access stored procedures residing in the database. This is the only way that Web Intelligence user's can access stored procedures.
Please let me know if the above information helps.

  • SQL Server 2012 - applying SP2 breaks SSRS Report Builder

    Hi,
Had SQL 2012 (was 11.00.2845) and SSRS configured and working.
Applied SQL 2012 SP2 (server now at version 11.0.5058.0 (X64).
But when I goto the typical "http://server/ReportS_INST1 - reports still work ok, but clicking on Report Builder looks like it starts the download and then errors.
The error is "Application validation did not succeed.  Unable to continue.".
Clicking on Details gets the message below.  I understand it thinks it has a version mismatch, but anyone know what the resolution should be?
    Thanks

    Hello,
It seems to me somebody applied SP2 for SQL Server 2012 on an instance that has installed SQL Server 2012 SP1 CTP 4. CTP4 is not
    the final version of SP1.
    http://sqlserverbuilds.blogspot.com/
My suggestion is to uninstall SP2 (using Control Panel), download and apply SP1 from the following link, and then apply SP2 again.

    Hope this helps.
