Flash not playing once uploaded to website

Hopefully someone can help. This seems like it should be so
easy.
When I test flash video .flv locally on my computer,
everything looks and works great. Once I upload the html to my
website, flash no longer plays. Server is Linux but that should not
matter. I'm using Dreamweaver 8. Test code is below. Does anyone
have any suggestions? I've included the FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
file and other swf in the same directory.
cheers,
Todd

Downloaded the AC_FL_RunContent.js and AC_RunActiveContent.js to

Read a bunch of stuff from Adobe and I'm even more confused.
Getting Flash to run is a real Pain! If I don't get it soon, I'm
just going to use links... this is getting ridiculous. This should
be SIMPLE... embed the video , download to the server and GO.
Any ideas?

Flash not playing on Mac OS 10.6.8, Flash 11.8.800.94, Firefox 22.0
Let me also say this flash does work in Safari... just not Firefox. When a flash media link is clicked on FF will go to the link but only a black window appears with no text or error messages or sound.
As far as I know I am running the latest version of Firefox and Flash. I have no plans to upgrade from Snow Leopord to Lion.
Another possible data point for this is Flash updates do not install just by clicking on the download. The DMG downloads but I get an unknown data type when it trys to launch. There is an easy work-around for this be simply launching the DMG from Finder where it runs just fine.
Any thoughts as to why Firefox is not running Flash media files?

    See: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5560631#5560631
Also, check Tools>Addons to be sure the latest plugin is enabled

  • Sounds with Buzz not playing after upload

    Hi,
So I have a project that works fine testing in browsers but when I upload it I get no sound. I have the sounds saved in oog, mp3, and wav. The file structure is the same, buzz script is uploaded as well as the sounds folder. I did change the html file name to index.
Does anyone have any ideas on why the sounds wont play?
    Thanks

Thanks for responding. Sorry I had forgoten the link.
    http://briancschneider.com/zip/web
I'm not using edgecommons. I'm using buzz! for the sounds.
Checking other threads on sound was very helpful in getting the sound set-up. I've been unable to find a thread about sounds not playing after upload except certain formats not playing in some browser. That shouldn't be my issue since I have the sounds in multiple formats, but I'm obviously overlooking something so...

  • Cp6: mp4. Video works perfectly when published, once uploaded to website, does not appear.

Cp6: Not sure what to do.
The mp4 works perfectly when reviewing the published file from my computer, however, once uploaded to my web site, does not work, just a blank screen. The rest of the file works perfectly.
I am uploading to a Google site and a Google drive, so security, I think, is not an issue.
    Thanks so much!

  • Can't get Quicktime videos to play once uploaded - using iWeb 08

Please help. I just updated my work website and uploaded a few quicktime videos of my TV spots. These same spots were uploaded and played fine on my last website update last year. But this time around, they're not working so well. Once uploaded, if you click on the controls under the screen, they don't respond. If you double-click the actual screen, the video starts and stops playing.
How can I get my quicktime videos to play like they're supposed to on my site? I'm using iWeb 08 and my version of Safari is 5.0.2.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked. However, it's three different videos on three different pages, and each video is pretty much the only thing on each page.
That would be great if you would take the time to access my site and see if you can find what the problem is. My URL is www.haleyturner.com. Click on the first square, the second square, and the last square to access the quicktime video pages.

  • Progressive Flash Not playing properly from remote server

    I have Flash CS3.
    PROBLEM: I've encoded a video using Flash's CS3 "Progressive
Download" option and then uploaded the resulting video (along with
it's associated files created by Flash ie: .fla, .swf, script
folder with action script, etc.) to my server (webpage and video
    was created through Dreamweaver CS3).
RESULT: A flash video that plays on the web, but has pink
colored digital boxes that breakup the picture... poor quality.
Please follow this link for an example:
    http://rivhawk.tripod.com/index.html
I've watched multiple step-by-step tutorials by Adobe for
creating and uploading Flash video, both with Flash CS3 and even
Dreamweaver CS3. I've tested by creating the flash content in Flash
CS3 and directly through Dreamweaver. The same digital noise, pink
    blocks occured.
NOTE: Before uploading the flash content and associated
files, I tested the flash video in my browser through Dreamweaver
(from my local directory, not remote server)...and it
plays/operates perfectly. It's only once it's uploaded that the
    problem occurs.
I've encoded the video with Flash 8 and Flash 9 at low,
medium and high qualities...same results (even by different
computers accessing the content on the internet). It happens in
    Firefox and Internet Explorer.
After 3 days of tests and research (and viewing samples of
other beautiful progressive download videos on the internet) I'm
wondering if I am missing something very simple, if there is a bug,
is this a known issue etc.
Please help, and please understand that I've been through all
the tutorials on creating/using Flash Video...and specifically
using the Progressive Download option for use on remote servers
that don't have the Flash Media Server.
    Please assist.

You can play video from any server by using a full URL ie
    http://www.anotherdomain.com/flashvideo.flv
    <param name="movie" value="videos/rep.swf" />
Looks like you're building an FLV player in Flash to play
    your video rather
than embedding it using DW. If so you need to open the source
    FLA you used
to generate 'rep.swf' and insert a full URL to your flv file,
    then publish
    the swf and upload again.
    > I've tried changing the value and embed source tags to
    be complete urls
    > referencing the actual video location, but I still get
    an error saying the
    > flv
    > file cannot be found. Is there a way to do what I'm
    requesting?
As above, or you can just embed the video on a web page in
    DW, using a full
URL to your flv. If your flvs are on a server and you are
    connected to the
internet, you should be able to play the flv using preview in
    browser before
    uploading the page.

  • Podcasts 2&3 not playing after upload by FTP to server?

On G-4, OS Tiger, Web site was created in iWeb 1.1.2 and worked with videos and audio podcast #1. Over internet, Podcasts #2 and #3 will not play- player bar does not show up (Just tiny question mark) after upload by FTP using Transit to Network Solutions server. Moved iWeb file to Mac Pro, OS Leopard, using iWeb '08, I recreated podcast pages and republished entire site: all pages look great, but I still have the same problem! I have tried uploading just podcast related files, uploading the entire site files, both zipped and not zipped. I always get this problem. Web site: www.calaverasgold.tv
Site media- videos and audio podcasts work fine in Safari browser on my computer, but player is not working one some files when site is accessed via internet. Please help. I need to produce a weekly podcast and I need to have them working. Thank you.

Yup. I am glad it is working just fine.
I erased all the files in the server and upload them to a new created folder.
I think the error was actually coming from the redirect. Somehow when I played around with changing .htaccess code if was able to style my website correctly.
    Thanks everyone for your help.

  • MP3 will not play once site is published

    HELP!
    Here's the issue:
Once I publish my site (to folder or .mac) the audio file I put on my site will not play when double clicked.
    Here's how I created it:
From Finder I drag the MP3 onto my web site (in iWeb 08) where it gives me a Quicktime box that says "Drag Image Here". I drag an image (tried jpg and gif) to it and it embeds fine. I use the Quicktime inspector to de-select "Show media controller".
In iWeb, when I double click on the image it plays the MP3. When I publish it (to a folder or .mac) it won't play the MP3 when double clicked. I've emptied Safari's cache and tried it on FireFox with the same result. Per the help file, I'm doing everything right and it says:
Quote "Show movie controller: Select to provide visitors with playback controls (pause, fast forward, and so on). If you deselect this checkbox and deselect Autoplay, your visitors can play the movie or audio by double-clicking it."
If I set it to autoplay it does work.
So what the heck is wrong!!!!????

You need click the "Provide iWeb Feedback" in the iWeb drop down menu and let them know about this one.
I would never have thought of setting up an audio file like this anyway. Some people seem to have difficulty finding the "play" button - how are they going to think of double clicking?

  • FLV files not playing once AIR is published

    Hi,
I'm devloping an AIR application in Flash CS5 and man I'm having fun!
My current problem has to do with Flash videos that aren't playing once the Air file is published.  In the development environment they play fine but all f my rpoblems with Air seem to occur after publishing,  I did code the playing a bit differently than usual in that I passed the relative path to the video file once it was playing.  Are relative paths ok in Air?
    I'd appeciate any advice.
    Best regards,
    Chris McLaughlin

The solution lied in using an absolute path to the video files using: appPathStr
    videoURL = appPathStr + "/SubdirectoryName/videoName.flv"

  • Flash not playing/showing when embedded in DW

I'm getting back into doing web work after a 8 year lay off,
so I may be doing something really basic wrong. However, I believed
embedding my .swf file into my web page was so simple, even
somebody with completely out of date knowledge could do it. It's
    not the case.
I used the basic Insert Flash command to put a link to my
.swf file onto the page and it doesn't show up when I preview it
(or upload it and view it live). The .swf file plays perfectly if
accessed directly, so that's not an issue.
    This
thread talked about making sure the script is in the right
folder and the header reference is correct, and it is on my site.
So I'm at a complete loss as to how to fix this. My website
    URL is
    this and the .swf
    file is
    here..
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm at a loss as to
how to go forward and fix this.
    Thanks!

Huh? That doesn't happen on import.

Huh? Huh? Flash exports what you tell it to. There is no need
    to 'add an
    extension' at all.

  • Flash not playing correctly in Chrome or Firefox

I did a Flash SWF file on CS5.5, and then published the output. It has 5 imported videos (FLV), all placed within the same directory as the FLA, SWF and HTML files. When I go ahead and open the HTML file on Chrome, the SWF file plays, but when I get to the frame where the placed FLV files were supposed to play, the videos don't appear at all. Same goes for Firefox. However, it plays correctly in Internet Explorer.
I'm a total Flash beginner, so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here.
I've uploaded screenshots of the HTML code and of the SWF file in Chrome.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/89001193/screenshot1.jpg
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/89001193/screenshot2.jpg
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/89001193/screenshot3.jpg
Also, I tried creating a Win Projector EXE file, and I get an error dialog saying "Destination Directory Does Not Exist. Change Your Publish Settings", whe in fact I used the default publish settings.
I'd really appreciate expert advice on this, especially if you can "dumb down" your answers to total beginner level.

Are you using relative links to the paths of the media, e.g.: assets/videos/movie1.flv ?
What are you using for FLV playback, the FLVPlayback component itself or are you handling NetStream/Video yourself, or StageVideo?
Default publish settings are never to be trusted in Flash, ever. Paths are RARELY ever saved correctly unless they're relative and even then it's not safe to assume it's correct. I've, long ago, made it a habit of going into publish settings, clicking the browse icon next to SWF/HTML/EXE/etc and manually set the location to publish every single time. If you do that the error should go away about publish destination (and yes, it's really irritating).
What FLV codec did you use?

  • Flash Not Playing

Help a newbie, please....I had a simple site playing a
newsbar done in Flash on the left of the screen - simple scrolling
stuff. Worked fine for a while, before I decided to move the site
from one PC to another, for convenience when travelling. Stil works
fine when I oreview in browser (Firefox or IE), but it doesn't play
when I load and view the site. Everything else works fine.
Can you help? Did I delete something? Note this still happens
when I upload the entire site.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If the version of Dreamweaver you have is CS3 (version 9)
then the "Scripts" folder under the root of your defined
Dreamweaver site should have a file called
"AC_RunActiveContent.js". Inside of the webpage containing your
newsbar, there should be the following inside of the
    <head></head> tags:
    <script src="../Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
There should also be a <script> tag inside the
<body></body> tags where the newsbar is located.

  • Embedded movie not playing once imported and placed in Dreamweaver

I have created a Flash index page to be placed in a html document for publishing.  The flash document as a .SWF file with a FLV file embedded, which is an image slide show with sound track. Everything appears to work in Flash 8 when tested including links, and slide show including the sound track.  When I create the HTML file with Dreamweaver 8 and save and test the file the background appears the buttons appear to work but do not seem to navigate to the blank text pages that I have made for testing.
But the biggest problem is the FLV file does not even start the center section of the page stays black.  The clear movie controls do not appear on the screen with mouseover either.
The image slide show file is one created for me by: ANIMOTO and was downloaded as  a MP4 file.  I used Flash 8 to covert it to FLV with no problems.
Can anyone tell me if you can embed a FLV file in a swf file and then import it to the html file created with dreamweaver...???
    And if so....HOW?????
    Randy
PS.  Is the upload section going to ever work again???

Hi Amy and welcome to our community
If your sound isn't playing in preview, check the way you are
previewing. Are you using the "Play this slide" preview? If so, you
may have muted the little icon in the Timeline.
If you aren't hearing audio after you publish, check the
Publish settings. Click the Publish toolbar button, then click the
Preferences... button. Look at the dialog that should appear. Is
there a check mark in the check box option labeled: "Inclue audio
    when project is generated"?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Flash not playing on html page after template is altered

    Hi,
Can anyone help. If i alter anything on a template none of the .swf files on pages based on that template will work when previewed in the browser.
    I am using DW CS3.
    Anyone any ideas

    Good day,
This issue can be considered as a limitation at some point because Dreamweaver lacked the ability to "auto-update", although it was not really the best practice to include Flash contents in a DW template.
There is a workaround though. You may need to edit the template (.dwt) itself and work in Code View.
While in Code View, use the Find and Replace (Edit > Find and Replace) feature so it will be easier for you to find what you are looking for.
In the Find and Replace window, choose Current Document as value for Find in, and Source Code as Search.
In the Find input field, type --> 'src' (including the single quotes) and click on Find Next.
Once you found 'src', pay attention to the text next to it enclosed in single quotes. The value in the single quotes is the path of where the Flash file is saved. try to remove ../ if you happen to see it. (do this if the Flash file is located in the same folder where the HTML page which uses it is saved)
Using Find and Replace again, this time, try to search for 'movie' (including single quotes). You'll see again the text next to it which is the same value as what you have searched before. Do the same thing, try removing ../. (do this if the Flash file is located in the same folder where the HTML page which uses it is saved)
Save the DW template file and try to preview the pages again in the browser.
    I hope this helps.
