Flash Player Shuts off PC

Hello everyone, and thanks in advance for any help.  PIaying a Flash game on Facebook or watching Flash movies shuts off machine.  I am at wits end.
I recently bought a Gateway desktop.  The specs:
- Intel Quad core
- 8GB Ram
- Vista Ultimate 64
- NVidia GT 120 1GB
- Realtek HD Audio
- Some crappy DVD burner
- Apex? TV Tuner
- Some internal usb card reader
The computer has 3 things installed that didn’t come with the machine.  CS4 Master Collection, World of Warcraft, and Avast anti-virus.
When I play FarmVille or FarmTown on Facebook (flash based game) or watch Flash Player based movies, the machine just turns off after about 10 minutes.  I have searched forums for a week and think I have covered all my bases.
There are no errors in the system log before it shuts down, just an error talking about an unexpected shutdown afterwards.
The machine runs World of Warcraft for hours at max framerate and doesn’t overheat.  I have downloaded fan speed applications and CPU/GPU heat monitoring software and everything is fine.  Flash games don’t even move the needle.
The drivers for the GT 120 video card and the real tek audio card are the newest from the manufacturer.  All windows updates are up to date.
I have used the Flash removal tool, cleaned the registry where I could and completely reinstalled Flash Player.  This happens in all browsers, it occurs in IE7, IE8 (upgraded to try it), Chrome, and Firefox.
At this point, Gateway support says to reload from factory and try it again.  But what I couldn’t exactly get the support rep to say was that Flash isn’t supported because it’s not pre-installed.  Once I install the Flash Player it now has 3rd party applications, and there’s where I have the problem.
I understand that a browser plug-in should not be able to just completely shut down the machine, there has to be some hardware or driver issue.  I am at a loss, the machine runs like a champ and never faults for anything else. It just comes across some function it seems after a certain period of time that the machine can’t handle.
Running the machine in safe-mode with hardware video acceleration off at 800x600 still causes the problem. I had to run the machine in Safe-Mode with Networking though to access Facebook.
Things I have yet to try:
- Removing half my ram, trying it, if it still doesn’t work, swap with the other half I took out (checking for bad ram)
- Removing my anti-virus.
- Take some flash animation I have laying around and run it in the browser in safe-mode without networking.
Is there anything else I could possibly try?
-J

I am having the same exact problem on a completely different machine.  I have actually created a post within these forums and have yet to get a response.
Of course the guys here at Adobe aren't going to admit that their product can cause such a failure in a machine.  I assure you it can and it is.  I have done a battery of tests on my computer, I have replace every single piece of hardware in it.  I have formatted and re-installed windows several times and I have made sure that I have all of the current drivers.
Nothing I do solves this problem.  I have downloaded the windows debugging program to try to do a memory.dmp debug and guess what.  My computer doesn't create one when this happens.  There is no error message to prove anything went wrong.  The only thing I get is a Critical Error in the Event Viewer that says there was a Kernel 41 Power loss failure.
The problem is, without a doubt, a compatability issue with flash player and a device driver, probably video, on our computers.. I just don't know which one and if there is any way to fix it.

I just purchased the Zen Nano Plus GB and absolutely love it. I have transferred songs using Windows Media Player and have had no problems except for the songs I have downloaded from walmart.com. The songs will play for 3-5 seconds and then the player shuts off completely. Can anyone advise why this happens and how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Dana

I don't believe the problem has to do with the battery as it has a new one in it. The reason I say this is that the other songs installed on the player that I got from CD's play fully. The problem happens when I try to play songs that I downloaded from walmart. I'm wondering if there is an issue with the licensing. However, a few of the songs I had already downloaded to another mp3 player that I had and they played no problem on that one.:smileyindifferent:
Do a search for other posts with the same problem on the Nano Plus - when using a new battery and playing downloaded wma tracks the player shuts off. MP3 songs and wma files without licensing (i.e. from your own CDs) play OK. The solution is to partly discharge the battery first (or by putting the backlight on all the time) or to use rechargeables as they have a lower voltage.
    Strange but true...

    What to do?
    Thanks in advance

I would not trust any non-Adobe site with the several malware applications disquised as Flash installers making the rounds. The last PowerPC version of Flash Player can be downloaded directly from Adobe:
    Flash Player 10.1
Installers for all major platforms are included in the Zip archive.
    Regards.

  • Just updated Firefox, then updated Adobe Flash player and videos and voice are all choppy. Please help.

I allowed Firefox to update. It prompted that I may need to update my adobe player. I checked my aol account and tryed to watch a video and it would not work. I updated my Adobe flash player, shut down my pc then went back online to check out a video and it was all choppy including the audio.

Please ask your question on a forum for the Flash Player

  • Flash Player locks up browser

I'm using Flash Player 11.1.102.55, Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit), ATI Video Card in a Lenovo Desktop.
I've tried Flash Player with IE9, Chrome, and firefox.
It will work when on Adobe's site (the flash player shown after install).
On other sites (like youtube, etc.) I get a green screen and it locks up the browser (no matter which browser).
I'm running the latest ATI driver, Latest Flash Player Version, latest Firmware on the PC.
I have hardware acceleration in flash player turned OFF.
Any ideas?  This is driving me nuts. I've googled and can really only find to turn off acceleration (which I've tried/done). No other video issues, just with flash.

    CCWTechUtah wrote:

The latest driver from Microsoft Update, or from the AMD download site?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765
Green screen is usually an indication for some incompatibility with the graphics driver, although turning Hardware Acceleration off should prevent that from happening.

  • Why do i have to re-install Flash player each time I shut off my computer?

Anytime I want to watch a video on the internet it says I must install a flash player so I go on line and download Adobe Flash player. But once I shut my computer down the flash player goes away.

Try a clean install as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315
Download the installers from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#Ins tall_in_a_firewall_proxy_server_environment
If the problem persists, run the uninstaller again, then try fixing the permissions on your system: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/987370

  • Flash Player 10 shutting off computer during Zynga games. In simple language Please!

hi my computer is a XP Home Edition 2002 Service Pack 3
32 bit with a Amd Sempron (tm) Processor
    3000+ 1.80 GHz 15 G.B. Ram with
adobe flash player 10,1,51,95, running Avast 5.0.594 with a firewall. Running Internet Explorer 8.
While playing Zynga games i hear a whirring sound my computer locks up and shuts down.
can u help? in simple language please as I dont understand most computer talk.
Thanks Deb (any help would be appreciated)

Thank you for providing all the information.
The sound that you hear indicates a potential hardware problem.  We may need to look at the Event Logs to see if Windows has recorded any information on what exactly is causing it.
You will need to open the Event Viewer, then find the recorded event at the time from the last emergency shutdown, then provide us with that information.
Article on how to use the Event Viewer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/
I know this is all a bit technical; let us know if you need more guidance to find the cause of your problem.

  • Whenever I play a game that requires flash my computer shuts off..

Hi guys, I am new to this forum and I am hoping I can get some answers. I am pretty Tech savvy and I've tried everything I can think of to fix this problem.
First I will give my system specs.
    Mobo: Asus m4n68t-m V2
    CPU: Athlon II X4 640 @ 3.0ghz
    RAM: OCZ 1333mhz 6gb
    Video: Galaxy - Geforce 8400GS
    PSU: 500watt Diablotec
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
My problem occurs when I try to run any Adobe Flash based games or videos. I can get anywhere from 2 seconds to 20 minutes but it will ultimately shut my computer off, as if I had unplugged it. I get no error or warning before it happens and the only thing I can get from the "event viewer" in the administrative tools is a Critical error - Source: Kernel-Power, ID 41.
I have noticed that other people have had this problem but I have found no results as far as a remedy to the problem.
I have been monitoring my cpu temperatures and at idle I am running at about 40 degrees Celsius. The temperature does not go above 45 Degrees when I run a flash program, so I have ruled out the possibility of overheating. I have also done troubleshooting with my power supply to rule out the possibility of too much power consumption.
It seems to be a compatibility issue, but I don't know what with.
I have a seagate 1Tb drive that I use for backing up all my files.  I was told it may have been corrupted and to unhook it and do a fresh install of windows.  I did this morning.  After the installation was done, I downloaded flash player 10 and tried to log on to facebook and play fishville.  NO new drivers were installed and the computer shut off immediately when I tried to run "Fishville".
Its not the browser either.  I have tried it on IE8, IE9 beta, Google Chrome and Firefox.  Same result with every single browser and every single Flash based game or video.
My last resort is to take a hammer to the computer and send the parts back to Micro-Center where I bought them.. twice.  I thought maybe I had gotten a bad piece of hardware so I took all of it back and exchanged for new parts.
    PLEASE HELP ME!

    Update:
I have since gotten rid of the Asus Motherboard and the OCZ Memory.  I swapped them out for a Biostar motherboard with an Ati chipset and PNY DDR3 1333Mhz memroy.
I was quite confident that the motherboard was causing all of my problems, mainly due to the fact that i have another computer in my house that is running a quad-core intel core 2 duo with an intel chipset and I don't have this problem at all on my other system.
After I did the swap I made sure to install all of the latest drivers and after everything was complete I logged on to facebook and i was able to play Fishville with no problems.  BUT, as soon as I loaded Cafe' World my computer instantly shut off.
I have been monitoring my temperature with the pc probe that came with my motherboard and my core temps NEVER go above 48 degrees Celcius.
I know for a fact that this isn't a heating issue.  Something is not right and I wish someone here at adobe could try to point me in the right direction, take the time to look at what all I have tried and give me a creative point of view on this.
The only thing that is not new in this machine is the hard drive.. and I know that isn't the problem because I tried a new hard drive already and it didn't fix it.  So I took it back, as I didn't need it.  There has to be a compatability issue with adobe flash player and some component in my system somewhere.. Its making me crazy.
I have never come accross a problem on a computer that I couldn't fix and this is the first time I have ever had to ask for help and I don't feel like I am getting any help whatsoever from Adobe.
At least Microsoft stayed on the phone with me for 2+ hours and TRIED to help me resolve this issue... to no avail.

  • HT201412 ok i did the new update and now my phone wont even start up! the apple logo comes up then the screen will flash and the phone will shut off. any ideas?

as listed in the title, my phone just flashes on me no start up just flashes from the apple logo to shutting off and back and forth i did the update this afternoon (9-26-2012) and it still wont start up!!!

Something in your backup may be corrupt. Try wiping it and setting it up as a new device, then sync your apps, data and media back to it from iTunes. DO NOT resotre from your backup. If the problem is contained in the backup, it will bring it right back again if you restore.
