Flash Video insert

I have used the Insert > Media > FLV.. option to place a video on this page:
http://www.nktheatrearts.org.uk/dvd/index.asp
It works on every browser on every platform, except, yep, you guessed it IE.
The page loads but just sits there.. Am baffled, can anybody help?
Thank you in anticipation
Andrew

In looking at your source code for what I believe will be the flv player, the file name parameter appears to be missing from the mix in the <object ...> tag, which is what IE will use.  It does sit in the embed section of that, but that's not what IE uses.
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="720" height="576" id="FLVPlayer">
          <param name="quality" value="high" />
          <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
          <param name="scale" value="noscale" />
          <param name="salign" value="lt" />
          <param name="FlashVars" value="&amp;MM_ComponentVersion=1&amp;skinName=Corona_Skin_3&amp;streamName=video/promo&a mp;autoPlay=true&amp;autoRewind=true" />
          <embed src="FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf" flashvars="&MM_ComponentVersion=1&skinName=Corona_Skin_3&streamName=video/promo&autoPlay= true&autoRewind=true" quality="high" wmode="opaque" scale="noscale" width="720" height="576" name="FLVPlayer" salign="lt" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></emb ed>
        </object>
But it should include a line in the object section something of the nature of...
<param name="movie" value="FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf" />
If you used Flash to create the file, I find it is always better to copy/paste the embedding code from the html file that Flash creates than to rely on Dreamweaver to create the embedding code.

If you use Insert > Media > Flash Video it is expecting
    a .flv file
(although the error message is ambiguous to say the least).
    I'm fairly sure
you need Insert > Media > Flash for a .swf

  • DW Flash Video Insert - Play Once?

Is there any way to modify the SWF controls created when DW

No, the video will play each time the page is reloaded. You
    need to
control the playing programmatically, but don't ask me how.
    You might
get more practical help in the Flash forum.

  • Inserting Flash Video.. long wait for skin to appear fools users.. any way to add a "please wait..video is loading"...

Hello. I'm trying my first Flash Video insertion..all is well
except I'd really like to be able to tell anyone viewing the page
to please hang on and wait during the buffer period on the
progressive download. it takes anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds for
the player skin to appear and start playing the video.. I have
previously been using embedded WMP which seems to have an advantage
in this department since the player skin would immediately appear
and display a buffering video % which would let anyone viewing the
page know that the video is downloading and is about to play. With
the flash they have no idea and the page appears not to be working
for a "long" time (5 to 20 seconds) since not even the skin
appears. Is there a way to improve these faults? My video is about
3 minutes long and can be found here.

  • Flash video won't play on uploaded site

I've seen this posted before but none of the solutions have
worked for me and I'm getting frustrated. A Flash video inserted in
    DWCS3 plays on the local version and doesn't play once I upload it;
it's just a white box. The link to the page so you can look at the
    code is:
    http://www.crusadermedia.com/ectv/newswatch.html
There should be a video below all of the text; it does detect
that there is an SWF there, however. All of the solutions I've seen
involve making sure the script, FLV and SWF get uploaded, which
mine is. I'm thinking that it might be my file structure.
Inside of my main root folder is a "Script" folder which
contains "AC_RunActiveContent.js". The page in question is inside
of a folder called "ectv". This "ectv" folder also contains the SWF
files. In "ectv/Video" is the FLV file that got inserted.
In the code for the page, the script is pointed to
"../Script/AC_RunActiveContent.js", which is where it is relative
to the page. Go outside of the ectv folder and look in the scripts
folder. It still doesn't work though. I've tried all permutations
of moving them all to the same folder, etc., but with no luck.
I am using a DW template, which blocks the code to check for
Flash player since the head section is locked. However, I've
unchecked that box in the insert Flash video window. Plus, I tried
making a dummy page with Flash video not in a template and it's
    given me the same problem.
Can anyone tell from looking at the code what's wrong?

    Hi.
I think the problem is the structure folders.
You said that you have a ectv folder which contain the
    Scripts Folder, the
Templates folder, the Videos folder... Your pages are in the
    root directory
of the ectv folder. The pages are lokking for the Scripts
    folder as if they
were in its own folder. Try deleting the ../ from the
    Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js to see what happens.
I hope this can help you

  • Flash Video in Templates

I have a template with one editable region. This region takes
text and images fine but when I try to insert a flash video (*.flv)
a message appears "Making this change would require changing code
that is locked by a template or translator. The change will be
discarded". How can I insert flash video into this editable
    region?

You are getting this error because you left the "Check for
    Flash version"
option enabled in the dialog panel for the Flash video
    insertion.
When you do this check, DW wants to write an onload event
    into the <body>
tag, to initiate the javascript checking routine. However, on
    a template
controlled page, the body tag is not editable, which DW
    discovers and throws
this alert. There are two solutions -
    1. Code a javscript onload function in the head of the page,
    and migrate
this call into that function (requires manual coding), or
    2. Simple forego the version checking on the Flash player
By far the simpler of the two options is the latter one.

  • Flash Video (.flv) in Dreamweaver

I can't find anything here or on teh net that tells me how to
use a preloader with Flash Video inserted directly into DW. The
standard answer is to create a .swf file in flash and use the
    preloader there. Duh! No kidding?
Can anyone tell what the point is in having the capability of
inserting a .flv file directly into an html file if you can't
independently communicate to the user that he/she needs to wait for
the thing to load? We've had that ability to insert a flash file
for ages. Is this good only for VERY small .flv files that load
    almost instantly?

No the one that auto plays when the page loads? Just
    wondering?
    This one works just fine
    http://www.neapco.com/Flash/intro.html
    however its
kind of hard to find it. My eye is focused on the one that
    plays a loop and
I never seen the other link until you posed back sorry. That
    link might be
more effective right under the one that's playing, Just a
    thought.

  • Unable to publish projects with inserted video - error message The Flash video can not be loaded

I've created a project in Captivate 6 with two slides that have inserted videos in them
Both the videos were created in Captivate 6 by publishing those projects as mp4 videos
They play fine in the previews but when publishing I get the error saying the Flash video can not be loaded for both of those slides and in the output files the area for the video is blank.
I have checked that the videos are not open anywhere else as I saw on a previous post this was the issue but the only place they are in use is in the project I am trying to publish.
Below are my settings and the error message
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your screenshot indicates you are publishing to a folder on a network drive.
    Have you:
Verified whether or not the video file exists at the published folder location? (It should ideally be sitting in the same folder as the SWF that calls it.)
Verified that the folder location is set up as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings?

  • Problem inserting Flash video into DW CS3 template

I would like to insert some flash video into an editable
region inside a DW CS3 template. The template I am using seems to
work for literally hundreds of other pages I have made (none of
which, incidentally, have any media of any kind in them).
I have created the template and then an editable region and
now want to insert the flash video in that editable region. All
goes well until I hit the OK button. then I get this error--Making
this change would require changing code that is locked by a
template or translator The change will be discarded.
Can anyone suggest how I might over come this error??
    Thx.
    Jane

The problem is the detection option in the video insertion
    dialog. If you
disable that option, you will not get the error.
This is a problem because the detection routine requires a
    modification to
the <body> tag (insertion of an onload event) which you
    cannot easily do in
    a template child page.
If you really must have the detection, then you can copy and
    past the load
call from a dummy (non-templated) page on which you have also
    done the same
insertion. Post back with that page's body tag code, and I'll
    show you
    how....

  • Insert Flash Video

Using Dreamweaver 8 I have created a site with PHP/MySQL that
is similar to YouTube. I am using the database to store the
filename for each uploaded FLV. I have a search page which will
return results listing page, and then go to a details page when one
of the results is clicked. So, on my details page, I want to insert
an FLV player using the Insert>Media>Flash Video function in
Dreamweaver. This brings up the window where you browse for your
FLV file and select a skin, etc. When I click on Browse, another
window pops up which allows you to navigate to the file, but also
gives you the option to Select file name from Data Sources. When I
choose data sources and select the appropriate field in my
recordset which contains the file to be played and click Choose,
and then then OK on the previous window, I get an error that my URL
    cannot contain any special characters.
I thought this could work the same way as an image place
    holder.
What am I doing wrong? Can I have an empty FLV player on a
page which gets the correct file to play from a MySQL databse with
    PHP?

  • Help inserting a flash video into my web page

    Hello!
I'd love some help inserting a flash video into my web page. My web page is hosted by Viviti, templated, and edited online. I can add html to it, and I have the html source for my flash video. I also have uploaded the flash file to the server. Since I am very html illiterate, though, I need some help rewriting the html script so it can be published. There are two problems- firstly, no 'headers' or 'body' allowed in the script- these are already a part of the template. Secondly, I don't know how to rewrite it to refer to the uploaded files. It's also imperative that the full screen mode functions. I've pasted the source code for the flash video here. Please help!!!
    Thanks!

What you basically need to do is copy the sections of content from the code you show into the template (assuming the template already provides the <head> and <body> sections of the page.  So in the head section of what you show, take everything starting with...
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    all the way down thru...
    </script>
, inclusive (in the head section only), and paste that into the head section of your template.
Similarly, take everything that lies between the <body> ... </body> tags (exclusive of the body tags) and paste it into the body section of your template wherever you plan to display the Flash file.

  • Inserting Flash video in Dreamweaver

This is my first time using Dreamweaver and it's been a blast but I get to the point of needing to insert a Flash video and it gives me a message: "Making this change would require changing a code that is locked by a template or a translator.  The change will be discarded."
Is the template the index page I use as my template for other pages?
What code is it that I need to change to insert the video?

Are you sure you aren't working with a template driven page?
When you insert media files into DW, it must write code in the <head> tags to reference Scripts necessary for Flash media to work on the web.
If you're working with a page that was created from a Template, the DWT page must have editable regions in the <head> tags, or you won't be able to add media to your web pages.

  • Inserting a Flash video and the Bandwidth Monitor

I am new to Captivate, and I want to be sure I'm following
some practical guidelines for inserting Flash video in my Captivate
    slides.
I know there are quite a few variables relating to practical
bandwidth usage--basically, we are creating elearning presenations
that will have "talking head" videos embedded within. These
presentations will be available for download via our LMS site, both
    within the US and overseas.
I have utilized Captivate's Bandwidth Monitor to gauge the
bandwidth hit each video slide is responsible for. However, I don't
believe the numbers I'm getting back: because I've set each
embedded video to "Pause slide till end of video", all the slides
are reporting the same length in seconds, KB per sec and Video KB
    numbers.
Can someone suggest a practical method for setting up the
videos such that the Bandwidth Monitor can interpret them
correctly? Can you also suggest a rule of thumb for maximum length
for each slide with an embedded video (320 X 240) in it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Carl

  • Insert Media Flash Video

I'm having trouble viewing a flash video that I've inserted
using: Insert, Media, Flash Video. I can view the video ok in IE7
and Firefox when I preview the page from Dreamweaver, but not
    online.

    (sample page with problem)
I have the video file uploaded to here:
    main/KenBowden_Swail_BN1.flv
I have the Scripts folder uploaded in the root dir on the
    same level as the page.
I've done this successfully in the past with other web
    sites....what am I missing here?
    Any help is appreciated!
