Flatfile destination

Hi All
I have 6 csv files in a folder with "different file names" and similar metadata and my aim is to bring all those to the same folder or a different folder in .txt format after applying a simple dervied column transformation.
I took a for each loop container for iteration of 6 csv files(created a variable "filename" for looping the files )
within the for each loop container i dragged a dataflow task and within DF task i have a flatfile source  where i randomly chose one of the 6 csv files
connected the above FF Source to a dervied column transformation and applied some transformation which is fine
adn the lastthing is i connected the dervied column to a flatfile destination and i want all the 6 csv files to come into the folder or a diff folder(either is fine) with .txt format dynamically.
Please help with this.

I know how to loop files through for each loop container, i have done this several times.
BUT, i am not asking the same thing...my original query is different from the above answers.
can anyone tell me how to send multiple .csv files from source to destination ( not oldedb, but flatfile) using dataflow task in between to do some trasnformation(ex: dervied column ) and
"send each transformed file to a folder destination( not oledb)".
"NOTE : i dont want to send them to the destination folder without the transformation being applied"
(I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO USE & CONFIRGURE FOREACH LOOP CONTAINER, IM  NOT NEW THAT, BUT PLEASE TRY AND UNDERSTAND MY ORIGINAL QUERY)

  • Output a derived column to a flatfile destination

    I'm a newbie. My source is a sql server table. Then I dropped a derived column icon. And finally a flatfile destination.
    When I open the flatfile destination, it does show the new column as 'Derived Column 1' in the Available Input Columns, but it's not shown in the Available Destination Columns.
    How do I add it to the Available Destination Columns?

    I had to open the flat file connection manager window and manually add a new column.

  • ForLoop to FlatFile

    Hi,
    I have multiple identical databases on my server (each database belongs a separate company)
    In my SSIS package, a For Loop runs a data flow task against each database.  OleDB source to FlatFile destination.
    I'd like to export the column names the first time only but am having no success.  Am I missing something?
    I could run a script after the ForLoop to do a text search & replace.  Anybody have a better idea?
    Thanks in advance
    Habib

    Why not just UNION all the results together?
    SELECT *
    FROM database1.dbo.myTable
    UNION ALL
    SELECT *
    FROM database2.dbo.myTable
    UNION ALL
    SELECT *
    FROM database3.dbo.myTable
    Then you only have one result set to output.

    But i need 1;2;3;
    Can anybody help me please..Its really a business need and i need to do this
    Abhishek

    Abishek,
    You could try having a Derived Column task inbetween the Excel source and Flatfile destination.
    Add a derived column task
    Configure the new column name by giving a name and choose input as the last column anme of excel (col21)
    Use expression to add the ';' to the last column
    (DT_WSTR,100)column21 + ";"
    Then, map THIS new column to col21 of flatfile in the mappings tab of the flatfile destination task respectively.
    For more info on the Derived Column task, check:
    http://sqlblog.com/blogs/andy_leonard/archive/2009/02/04/ssis-expression-language-and-the-derived-column-transformation.aspx
    Hope that helps!

  • Ssis - Copy all tables exists in a DB to Destination flatfiles

    could anyone help me out with this task-
    Copy all tables exists in a DB to Destination flatfiles.
    Condition 1) Name of flat file should be name of the Table
                      ex-   Employee.Txt
                  2) Flat files should be created in run time and should not create prior.

    Hi nikhila.k,
    According to your description, you want to export data from multiple SQL tables to multiple text files, and the file name should be the name of the corresponding table name.
    To achieve this requirement, we can refer to the reply post by user756519 in the following similar thread:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6216486/exporting-data-from-multiple-sql-tables-to-different-flat-files-using-ssis-script
    Please modify the first step with below:
    Create a table named TablesList with the code below in SQL Server Management Studio (Ps: we can also change the FilePath to other place you want to put those text files):
    USE database_name
    GO
    SELECT IDENTITY(INT,1,1) as Id, name as TableName,'C:\Temp\' + name + '.txt' as FilePath
    INTO TablesList FROM sys.Tables
    WHERE name <> 'TablesList'
    GO
    Then we can refer to the other steps in the reply.

  • BI 7.0 infospoke - how to change standard destination path on appl. server

    Hello,
    I have the following problem:
    I need to extract large amounts of data from infocubes to flatfiles. I have created an infospoke to do this. However, in this infospoke, the destination path, when I choose application server, is fixed.
    In BW 3.x, there is a document "BW 3.1 Open Hub Extraction Enhancement Using Literal Filename and Path.pdf" that describes how to change the destination path for the application server.
    This solution does not work for BI 7.0, I get short dumps, probably due to ABAP OO.
    I need to extract the data to flat files on the application server, not on my local machine, nor into a table in SAP itself, so I need to change the destination path, because the amount of free storage is limited in the standard destination path.
    Has anyone encountered this problem in BI 7.0 and solved it?
    best regards
    Ting

    Sorry, wrong subforum, will close this

    Hi Ting.
      I never had a simmilar problem but, if you go to your InfoSpoke, right click --> "Change" you can see (and change... ) the following values:
    Destination Type: FILE  (the one you have choosen)
    Application Server: Check Box (I think this is your setting)
    Server name: (BW server)
    Type of File Name: (Here you can choose Between "File Name" or "Logical File Name")
    Appl.Server File N: "MY_FILE.CSV" (for example)
    Directory: (The directory you want - take a look at the end of this post )
    Separator: (The field separator)
    Note : If you are working with Linux or Unix you have to look if the BW system user has the corresponding rigths to write in the FileSystem.
    .          In the beginning I advice you to use something like this /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<XX>/work
    Hope it helps.
    Regards.

  • How to avoid the presence of element in the Destination file if the value is empty

    Hi,
    I am using a map, in which Source is an XML File, Destination is a FlatFile
    For Eg:
    Input File
    <Name>
    FirstName>aaa</FirstName>
    <LastName>bbb</LastName>
    </Name>
    Output File
    FirstName     LastName
    aaa                bbb
    Destination Schema is also the same, but if the Last name value is empty, the LastName element should not be present in the Destination Flat File.
    Eg:
    Input File
    <Name>
    FirstName>aaa</FirstName>
    <LastName></LastName>
    </Name>
    OutputFile should be
    FirstName
    aaa
    Please help in making this requirment....
    Regards, Vignesh S

    Set the “Min Occurs” property of the LastName header element in the flat-file schema to “0” (Zero)
    Create a map which maps the Schema for the XML file to the flat-file schema.
    In the map, use the Logical Existence and Value mapping as shown in the below image. Here Logical
    Existence function is used to check the existence of the field LastName in the input XML. If LastName element exist, then using the Value mapping functiod, map the Contant-LastName  (this
    would be the header). Below image shall help you with thisexplanation.
     As you can see, for the detail record, the value is mapped directly and for the header, as per you requirement a check has been made to for the existence of the LastName
    field in the XML to populate the LastName header node. If LastName is empty in the XML, header LastName would not be populated.

  • Explain: how to include Infospoke in Process Chain where destination is  DB

    Explain: how to include Infospoke in Process Chain where destination is  local machine database [NOT Flatfile]

    Hi vijay,
    First you create an Infospoke with destination as a DB table in your local BI or BW Machine. Now add this infospoke by going through below steps.
    1. Call up the process chain maintenance. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Process Chain Maintenance from the Administrator Workbench toolbar. The Process Chain Maintenance Planning View screen appears.
    2. In the left-hand screen area of the required This graphic is explained in the accompanying text display component, navigate to the process chain in which you want to insert your InfoSpoke. Double-click to select it. The system displays the process chain plan view in the right-hand side of the screen.
    If no suitable process chain is available, you need to create a new process chain. You can find additional information under Creating a Process Chain.
    3. To insert a process for extraction by means of an InfoSpoke, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Process Types in the left-hand area of the screen. The system now displays the process categories available.
      4.In the process category Loading Process and Post Processing, choose the application process type This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Data Export into External Systems.
      5.Insert the Data Export into External Systems application type with Drag&Drop into the process chain. The dialog box for inserting a process variant appears.
      6.In the Process Variant field, enter the name of the InfoSpoke that you want to include in the process chain, or select it by means of the input help.
    Once You have added the infospoke you have to write a program which will fetch the database table that you filled and transfer the data fetched to other legacy system with the help of XI System

  • How can I route flatfiles from one directory to n receivers?

    Hello,
    I tried to route the flat file by content conversation. I built the structure with the following parameter in the sender ftp:
    recordset structure: Header,1,Content,100
    Header.fieldNames                   MessageType,Sender,Receiver,Variant
    Header.fieldFixedLengths         12,8,8,6,9
    Header.fieldContentFormatting  trim
    Header.processFieldNames      fromConfiguration
    Content.fieldNames                  ContentString
    Content.fieldSeparator              'nl'
    Content.processFieldNames    fromConfiguration
    The file has got one header line and n content lines, but max 100.
    Now I can route the file with the Receiver determination.
    I thought I solved the problem: With files without any empty line its works fine.
    But there is a problem: Some flatfiles contain a line with no content, just a 'nl'.
    Now the destination file is without this empty line. But is has to look exactly the same.
    Is there a possibility to look in the flatfile for receiver determination without changing the file?
    I hope there is an very easy solution without Java-Mapping. It is a very simple task, so the solution should be easy too.

  • Add new columns to flatfile connection

    Hi,
    I have created a package and completed the development. Now, client is requesting to add few more columns to the target flatfile. I don't want to delete the connection and flat file destination components and re-create the both to reflect the new columns.
    I have tried to open the Advanced tab in connection->Edit and added the new column say 'Column_new' and getting the below error while changing the ColumnDelimiter to Pipe |.
    Error - Property Value is not valid
    Please advise..
    Thanks.

    Hi Vibhav,
    The target file has 20 columns, now there a requirement to fetch few more columns from source to target,.. So I need to add the new columns to the existing connection. Its straight forward so no need of Derived Column Task.
    But I am hitting with the error while changing the property 'ColumnDelimiter' ...
    Any idea please..?
    Thanks..

  • SSIS 2008 or 2012 Data Task: How to conditionally choose one of two flatfile columns on a per-row basis

    I searched the textbooks and searchable forum posts for something related to my question, but could not find it. I'm hoping when after I describe my question that it might sound familiar to someone.
    First, the context: another department using a black-box database product stopped use of one column and used a different column instead. However, the data in the flat-file export that I need to use for my own database must contain the entire
    table. If it was a clean binary switch, that would be great: I could split the rows into two groups based on date and deal with it that way. Instead, there was a period of overlap while users slowly got the hang of the practice.  This means that I have
    two columns where a row value is either in one column
    or the other.
    Now, the question: I currently use SSIS to import this flatfile into an SQL Server table and use a T-SQL script in an SQL Agent Job to handle the problem.
    However, I was hoping I could do this on the SSIS side while importing the data so that it appears into the SQL Server destination table nice and clean.
    This is a HIGHLY SIMPLIFIED view of my system, using dummy data and dummy names. The T-SQL script describes in essence my source and destination table and what I would like to do on the SSIS side. If a screenshot of my incomplete data tab will help, I can
    do it, but at this point I'm providing what I hope presents the background without presenting distractions.
    Thank you for any hints or ideas.
    use Learning_Curve;
    go
    if OBJECT_ID('dbo.Relation_A','U') is not null
    drop table dbo.Relation_A;

    Rel_A_Value varchar(20) not null,
    Rel_B_Value varchar(20) not null
    insert into dbo.Relation_A values (1,'Unknown','Measured'),(2,'Measured','N/A'),(3,'Unknown','Measured'),
    (4,'Measured','Unknown'),(5,'N/A','Measured'),(6,'Unknown','Measured');
    if OBJECT_ID('dbo.Relation_D','U') is not null

    when a.Rel_A_Value = 'N/A' or a.Rel_A_Value='Unknown'
    then a.Rel_B_Value
    else a.Rel_A_Value
    end as Rel_D_Value
    from dbo.Relation_A a;
    go

    You could have posted question in new thread.
    Anyway, you can achieve it by using below tasks shown in attached picture.
    - Merge Join will join by using first ID column
    - Derived Column will have below expressions
    [Column 1] == "" || ISNULL([Column 1]) ? [AnotherColumn 1] : [Column 1]
    [Column 2] == "" || ISNULL([Column 2]) ? [AnotherColumn 1] : [Column 2]

  • FlatFile import with multiple formats to single table

    I need to import a Flatfile which can have varying number of columns eg row1 7 x cols, row2 15 x columns, row3 12 x columns.
    The file needs to be added to a single table.
    Any thoughts on best way to approach this.

    What version of SSIS are you using? If you're using 2012 or later, you can most likely do this in the data flow without scripting.
    You'll configure your flat file source with the maximum number of columns you'll expect in any data row, and each column's data type would need to be configured to accommodate the largest/widest value expected in any row for that column. In SSIS 2012 or
    2014, the flat file source will interpret any missing columns as NULLs. Then just load the output of the flat file source to your destination table with the appropriate mappings. Any missing values will be NULL.
    The behavior was different in SSIS 2005 and 2008. If you had fewer than expected columns in any row, the flat file source would continue to read data from the file until it got all of the columns it expected - even if that meant reading data from the next
    line of text. For those versions, scripting the source was the easier solution.

    Hi,
    go to the CMC and invoke the server list under Servers. Locate the entry for the Crystal Reports Job Server, select it and invoke the context menu using the right mouse button. Select Destination and add Email in the list of the possible delivery options. Configure the connection data for your SMTP server and restart the Crystal Report Job Server.
