Flex and the cold fusion wizard

I am trying to use the cold fusion wizard in Flex 3. What
must be set up before you can use this? I know what the wizard
does, but I don't understand what is needed or going on in the
background in order to get it to work properly. I have a msql table
and when I open the RDS Dataview and enter my password it opens up.
Everything seems to work fine until I select the 'Edit Master
Page' button, it doesn't work.

From what I understand this problem occurs on vista. The
solution is to uninstall flex builder 3 and reinstall it. When you
reinstall flex 3 you must right click on the the executable
(installation) file and select 'run as administrator'. This will
allow you to get into the query browswer when you select 'Edit
Master Page' inside of the cold fusion / flex wizard.

  • Flex/cold fusion wizard & Visual Query builder has a problem

    has anybody tried the cold fusion / flex application wizard in flex 3?
    to get there follow these menu choices:
    file     new     other     cold fusion wizards     coldfusion / flex application wizard
    I previously installed cf8 and the rds query viewer works fine.
    i simply choose from the following menus:
    window     other views...     Cold Fusion     RDS dataview
    i was initially prompted for the rds password which i entered.
    in the RDS Dataview, I can see the tables, columns, and data for all my existing datasources.
    Unfortunately, when I use the COld Fusion/Flex application wizard,
    I get to the page layout and design screen, add a page with the name artists, choose page type master,  and click the Edit master page button.
    Nothing happens when I click the Edit Master Page button.  I followed the cf/flex tutorial exactly but there is no query builder.
    I dont know if this is related but in the RDS query viewer, the Visual Query BUilder doesn't work.
    I think this may be the problem (the visual query builder has a problem)
    Unfortunately, how do I fix this problem

    already found the answer
    flex has to be run as administrator if using WIndows Vista
    simply shut down flex, right click the startup icon, choose run as administrator, and the visual query builder runs fine.
    Dont know why this occurs because you are always prompted for the rds password.
    anyway, problem solved.

  • How do you determine what version of PHP is on the cold fusion server

    I am trying to find out what version of PHP is on my cold
    fusion server, how do I do this? Does coldfusion come with
    PHP?

    In the C:\Windows folder, locate the file called php.ini and
    open it in Notepad.
    <?php phpinfo() ?>
    I answered it myself. Maybe it can help someone else.

    when i use something like

    it pop up an error : Property Send not found on ....

    It will create all the classes automatically for you from the

  • Flash, Flex, and the iPad

    While there is no shortage of iPad/Flash discussions on the Adobe and Apple forums, after searching for a couple hours now I have been unable to find the answers to my specific question.  So please forgive me if I missed it somewhere.
    As I understand it, Apple does not support Flash for the mobile and iPad devices.  This is reiterated in a number of Apple forum postings that I just read, as well as Steve Jobs' rant here:
    http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
    However, I came across this Adobe press release from less than a year ago:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/ukchannelnews/2011/06/20/announcement-mobile-applications-for-andro id-blackberry-iphone-and-ipad/
    Apparently this Flex thing allows me to develop cross-platform mobile applications.  So I do some research on Flex, trying to figure out the difference between Flex and Flash.  I come across Adobe's FAQ here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/faq.html#flex-flash
    It's not real clear to me, but it sounds like what they are saying is that Flex is simply a programmatic framework around which I can build Flash applications, especially helpful for those more familiar with traditional programming.  If this is the case, based on Adobe's press release above, it sounds like I should be able to use Flash on the iPad via Flex?  What am I missing?  Is there other differences between Flex and Flash?  Or perhaps is it the difference between an application and browser support (like Apple's Safari)?
    Thanks in advance for your patience, and your help.
    3P

    It's easy Pea...
    Flash is a plugin. It runs from withing the browser IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc... It also can be run standalone, via special exe program on Windows platform.
    Although this is less common. Here are all the Flash versions: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
    AIR is a cross platform runtime, kind of like Java (build once run everywhere). But with AIR it's a bit more tricky. You have to compile your program to each target platform (Desktop, Andriod, BlackBerry, iOS) separately. It's not like with Java where you can indeed run your jar file on lot of platforms. AIR is essentially Flash "on steroids" as it mostly has the same API as Flash and builds on top of it. But AIR not in the pluging form, i.e. you don't need a web browser to run it from.
    Here are the latest AIR runtime: http://get.adobe.com/air/
    and SDK: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html
    You will need AIR SDK to build AIR applications and it has to be overlayed on top of Flex SDK which you can find here:
    Flex SDK: http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4.6
    Now Flex SDK is essentially a component framework. You will need a button in your application, or a Video component, right? So that is what Flex provides for you free of charge.
    Obviously this sound simple but Flex is much more then that and here is your
    Flex documentation: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/documentation.html
    So, Flex is a component framework which lets you build applications which target either Flash or AIR as executable runtime. For Flash it is called Web application and it runs from withing browser or standalone Flash player. For AIR it is called Desktop or Mobile project and it runs from withing AIR runtime which has to be installed on your device or bundled with your application.
    Now, speaking of Steve rants, yes, they wanted to kill Flash on their platform, there was even a guy there who was responsible for that result (I forgot his name but you can google), although Adobe never admited that and played it nice with Apple. Why they wanted to kill most expressive and complete vector and video engine on the web (Flash)? It's simple! This is beacase they wanted to play on their nice and cozy iOS/iPad/iPod playground alone! Because they want to control the delivery of the content from publisher to consumer. they want to stick their proprietory products and specifications in between and skim the money! That is why they don't need Flash in the browser. Flash allows people to publish and consume an impressive content without charging a dime! That includes H264 video among other things. And that is what Apple doesn't want to see.
    Good luck with Flex and everything else,
    SdS

  • Flex and the browser

    when I run a flex application, my favorites side bar
    disappears. When I go into my browser and turn on the favorites
    panel, it then covers my web page. Anyone know how to fix this?
    Sincerely Sammy.

    What is ncDB? Is it a remote object?
    Remote object don't have a connect method. Istead you should set the endpoint, source and destination properties.
    If you handle your requests through AS3, you could do the following. I use this code in a singleton class.
    in the constructor:
    ws.RemoteObject = new RemoteObject();
    ws.destination = "amfphp";
    ws.source = "nameOfYourService";
    ws.endPoint = "linkToYourGateway.php";
    ws.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT, this.faultHandler);
    In a method named 'call':
    public function call(endPoint:String = null, serviceMethod:String, resultFunction:Function = null, ...args):void
              if (endPoint != null)
                   ws.endPoint = endPoint;
                if (resultFunction == null)
                    resultFunction = defaultResult;
                if (ws.operations.hasOwnProperty(serviceMethod))
                    ws[serviceMethod].removeEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT, resultFunction);
                    ws[serviceMethod].removeEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT, defaultResult);
                ws[serviceMethod].addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT, resultFunction);
                ws[serviceMethod].arguments = args;
                ws[serviceMethod].send();
    Does this help?

  • My iPod and The Cold

    Does anyone have or know of any guidelines re-guarding the use of an iPod in cold temperatures? I just got my iPod and use it when I go jogging. However, the weather here in the New Jersey is going to be getting colder. I'm wondering how long I can use it safely before putting it away for the winter.

  • We need cold fusion support and have cold fusion 9 owned by Adobe.

    How do we get support?

    Depends on what type of support you are looking for. Many specific questions can be asked here on these forums, you just need to be specific. For licensing and installation help, there are phone numbers in the product support pages within the www.adobe.com site. Phone support will most likely cost you some money whereas forum posts are free -- but like I said, be specific if asking here.

  • Updater 2 and Dreamweaver's Cold Fusion development server

    Hello,
    I am in the process of developing a Cold Fusion Web
    application for my university dean's office using...
    <cfobject type="COM" action="create" name="Chart"
    Class="Corda.Embedder">
    ...and I am receiving this error message...
    An exception occurred when instantiating a Com object.
    ...the Corda documentation states the following, and I agree
    with them that this is what I am experiencing and need to do...
    COM Corda Embedder (Windows)
    If you are using ColdFusion MX on Windows, be sure you have
    updated your server to the latest version using the ColdFusion MX
    Updater Release 1. This is available at
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/releasenotes/mx/releasenotes_mx_updater.html.
    You will need to apply this update to fix a bug in ColdFusion MX
    that prevents it from accessing Window’s Component Object
    Model (COM).
    Other than that, you don’t need to do anything. The COM
    version of the Corda Embedder is installed automatically for you.
    ...I am running Windows XP Professional 2002 SP2, and the
    Cold Fusion Developer Server THAT COMES WITH Dreamweaver 8.0. The
    Cold Fusion server is an established server running several CF
    applications. The Corda product is also known to be running fine,
    as I am able to view my current projects in a browser.
    Server Details
    Server Product ColdFusion MX
    Version 7,0,0,91690
    Edition Developer
    Serial Number Developer
    Operating System Windows XP
    OS Version 5.1
    1) Am I missing something with instantiating the COM object?
    2) How can I tell if I need the Cold Fusion updater?
    3) Which updater version do I download (1 or 2) and for which
    server (MX, MX7, Special Dreamweaver version)?
    4) Where do I install the updater - since I am running the
    Cold Fusion Developer Server that comes with Dreamweaver, it is not
    located in the default C:\CFusionMX7 directory?
    Thank You Very Much For Your Time,
    Nathan
    Technology Support Analyst, Sr.

    2) How can I tell if I need the Cold Fusion updater?
    Version 7,0,0,91690
    You are on Version 7MX, no updater. After the update you will
    have a
    version something like this.
    Version 7,0,1,xxxx OR Version 7,0,2,xxxx
    3) Which updater version do I download (1 or 2) and for which
    server
    (MX, MX7, Special Dreamweaver version)?
    You need to download and install at least updater 1 for MX 7
    per the COM
    instructions, updater 2 (which by default includes updater 1
    IIRC) could
    be even better, but has a small chance of doing something you
    don't want
    it to. One would have to read all the tech notes and make a
    decision.
    There is no "Special Dreamweaver" version, it is just the
    standard Free
    Development version anybody can download and install. "Serial
    Number
    Developer" And to turn this into a professional version all
    one has to
    do is purchase a license number an enter it into the
    administration
    panel. This converts a developer CF server to a Production CF
    server
    with no other downloading or installing necessary.
    4) Where do I install the updater - since I am running the
    Cold Fusion
    Developer Server that comes with Dreamweaver, it is not
    located in the
    default C:\CFusionMX7 directory?
    Most likely the installer will figure that out. If it does
    not, just
    provide the directory/file path to where your CF is installed
    when asked.

  • Cannot browse server following installation of hotfix 4 to Cold Fusion 9.0.1

    Hi
    I've been tasked with updating a ColdFusion 9.0.1 installation to the latest patches.  I've started with Hotfix 4.  The installation appeared to go OK, and the services started after I applied the update.  However, when I went to moved onto the next update (APSB13-10) starting by browsing to the update file I ran into a problem.  When I click on the "browse server" button to locate the .jar file for the next update I encounter an error:  "Unable to authenticate on RDS server using current security information".  I've also found that if I try to put the full path into the Update File line and hit "Submit Changes" it errors.
    This seems to be the same problem as http://forums.adobe.com/message/5256752#5256752, but there's no solution to the problem in that discussion.
    I've checked the RDS settings, and RDS is unchecked.  I notice that this screen is different from the pre-upgrade screen, but this seems to be as a result of, I think, APSB13-03, which is included in HotFix 4.  If I try to make any changes on this screen it errors and logs me out of the Cold Fusion administrator.  I've tried commenting out the RDS section in the web.xml file, but this gives me a different error.
    I'm doing this on an isolated test server which has no access to the network.  If I revert to the snapshot I took before the upgrade attempt ColdFusion runs as expected.
    Any ideas what might be the problem?  Thanks in advance.

    In case it helps anyone I've realised what I was doing wrong here.
    The main “problem” was that one of the updates included in Cumulative Hotfix 4 is APSB13-03 (http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/coldfusion-security-hotfix-apsb13-03.html).  I knew this changed the behaviour of RDS but my knowledge prior to this work of ColdFusion and in particular RDS was very limited, and so I didn't understand the implications of this hotfix.  What this update does is disable RDS by default; I wasn't really aware what the RDS status of my server was prior to the update, partly because before this update there is no "disable RDS" tick box to show whether it is enabled or disabled.  With RDS disabled, you can't browse as the update instructions require you to do.  Obviously RDS was enabled on my setup without me realising it.
    My understanding of this wasn't helped by the fact that when I tried to paste a path into the box and hit the "update" button I got a different error, which I described in my original post.  Similarly if I tried to change RDS settings, or do pretty much anything in the administrator, it failed and logged me out in the same way.  It seemed to me that the whole thing was broken by the updates and I didn't know how to fix it.
    So, following the excellent advice of Charlie Arehart in two articles: http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2010/12/12/cfmyths_cumulative_hotfixes and http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2011/10/21/why_chfs_may_break, I went back to the start and installed the cumulative hotfixes one by one.  Although I don't think I actually needed to do this, as Hotfix 4 seems to contain all the previous hotfixes, it did help me realise that the browsing/RDS issue and the error and logout when I tried to do anything in the administrator were two different problems. After further bit of googling I found people suggesting that you should use https to access the administrator, but the shortcut I had was taking me to http (as far as I know I was using the default shortcut).  I found that by going to https the problem of being logged out when trying to do anything disappeared and I could put a UNC path in to update the .jar file for the next update.  I also was now able to enable RDS for single password and could browse like the hotfix instructions advise.  I've since disabled RDS and accepted the inability to browse as a "feature", happy that it's more secure as a result.
    So my “problems” were largely self-inflicted due to my own ignorance of the product, but it wasn’t helped by Adobe’s apparent inability to grasp that there may be similarly ignorant people attempting these updates.  It would have been nice to see some guidance from them.  Furthermore, the cumulative hotfix 4 page (http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/cumulative-hotfix-4-coldfusion-901.html) doesn’t even mention RDS, let alone that the default behaviour changes.  It’s only when you check the individual hotfix information that you can see the information that helped me to realise where I was going wrong.
    As for using https not http; great, but if I’m right that my shortcut is the default out-of-the-box shortcut, where’s the information to advise to change to using https as a result of one of the hotfixes included in hotfix 4 (originally, I think, hotfix 2)?  It’s certainly not mentioned on the page for cumulative hotfix 4.

  • Cold Fusion Issue

    Hi There my name is Javier and I am a baby on this java issues.
    I am having this problem trying to get the pay flow program from VeriSign to work with the cold fusion administrator I did all the steps but when I test it came out with an error saying that I need to install the JVM or JRE because it didn't find it so you need to tell the path of the jvm.dll on the Cold Fusion Administrator in order for this test to run succesfully.
    I did a search for jvm.dll nothin but I notice there is some java files there so I did a test went to this site download jre 4.1.1.8 and install it on my home computer the installation went fine and then I notice the installation creates a directory called JRE4.1.1.8 and I did a search for the jvm.dll but also ntohing like that shows up instead I found two dll files, javai.dll and another java dll file but the question is: IF i DESIRE TO INSTALL THE NEW VERSION OF JVM ON THE SERVER WHAT DLL FILE SHOULD I CHOOSE TO BE DEFINE ON THE COLD FUSION ADMINISTRATOR, was there any changes from the last version of JVM to the news version I am assuming there is but I don't know what to look for.
    Any help on this matter would be highly appreciated.

    Did you figure out the solution to your problem? I am running into the same issue.

  • Cold Fusion 9 patch question

    Hi,
    Is there a way to find the location of Cold Fusion 9 patches?
    I found this URL: http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads_updates.html#cf9
    Also, is there a way of determining what patches are missing for the Cold Fusion 9 installation?
    Currently, have Version: 9,0,1,274733 and Adobe Driver Version: 4.0 (Build 0005)
    Does the Cold Fusion patches include any Java necessary updates?
    Java Version: 1.6.0_17
    Thanks,

    Hello userCold9
    Is there a way to find the location of Cold Fusion 9 patches?
    I found this URL: http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads_updates.html#cf9
    Here are the link to patches:-

  • Cold Fusion GDK - need help quick!

    We need someone to please recommend a consultant that has experience working with the Cold Fusion GDK and user authentication. Please contact Tracy Underwood at the Simmons Company 770 392 2522

    Hi
    Can you show us the screenshot of permissions of wwwroot folder and sub-directory folder?
    Also, can you create a new site in IIS and create the same directory structure however assign permisison as Everyone and then test the behavior. As you have configured the connector with All then you need not to create the connector once again. The reason why CFIDE and jakarta are working fine because they are not the actual directories, they are virtual. So in conclusion, the issue seems like the .cfm present inside the subdirectories are not working fine.
    It seems like .htm is working fine within the subdirectory.

  • Cold Fusion MX 6

    My cf server keeps hanging and i would like to set up a
    process to automatically restart the cold fusion server if it
    hangs. Can anyone provide input?

    There's probably better ways of doing it, but off the top of
    my head I'd say you could have an app that calls a cfm page on your
    server. If it doesn't get the response it was after (or times out)
    then it writes to a shell script on that machine (or, I'm guessing,
    a bat file if you're using windows). The shell script is on a cron
    job (scheduler for windows?) and normally is blank, but your script
    writes in the cf restart command. Beause this is being called every
    10 mins or so by cron it means that the next time it's run it
    restarts the cf server. You'll then need to change it back
    (otherwise your cf server will be being restarted every 10 minutes
    ad infinitum). Put your app on a cron job too, and once it detects
    that the cf server is back up it wipes the shell script.
