Flex Builder Extension Point

Hi,
i found that Flex Builder has a lot of extension points, but I try to extend those extensions but i found only schema for the debug extension point, is there a way for me to extend the others extension point?
Tks,

Adobe Flex Builder is an integrated development environment . is ok, very intuitive.

    Hello,
I am trying to compile the extension point sample: "Query Panel".

The external library that I am using is: RCThinCadenza.jar
Even when I add the external jar's listed in the error message  to my project manually I still get the above error message.
Can someone tell me if I'm missing something here?
    Many thanks

Thanks for that Ted, I have now build the project to a "normal" jar file successfully.
I have now got a jar file and a library folder.
Do you know what steps are involved in getting this extension point to work on my local Webi RichClient?
I tried to copy the JAR file and webi_plugin.properties file into the business objects classes folder on my local machine but when I try to execute the rich client I get the error:
"Cannot Read the Script file: QueryPanel.ExensionPoint
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks

  • Question about extending Flex Builder

Hello, I'm writing an Eclipse plugin to make writing AS3 code
in Flex easier. I would really love to see some
documentation on the extension points declared by the flex
    plugin:
    <extension-point id="quickFixProvider" name="quickFix
    Provider" schema="schema/quickFixProvider.exsd"/>
    <extension-point id="contentAssistFactories"
    name="ActionScript Content Assist Processors"
    schema="schema/contentAssistFactories.exsd"/>
    <extension-point id="editorAdapters" name="Editor
    Adapters" schema="schema/editorAdapters.exsd"/>
    <extension-point id="contentFormatter" name="Content Formatter"
    schema="schema/contentFormatter.exsd"/>
    <extension-point id="textHoverFactories"
    name="ActionScript Text Hovers"
    schema="schema/textHoverFactories.exsd"/>
Any other tips on extending flex would be great also, thanks.

    Hi,
If Oracle Warehouse Builder really doesn't support XMLType, is there any other ETL tool that supports Oracle's XMLType?
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Flex Builder 3 and CF Extensions

Hi, I have installed Flex builder 3, however can't seem to
get the Cold Fusion Extension wizards. Have uninstalled and
installed several times. Yes, I am checking the option to install
    CF Extensions when I install.
Also if I go to Help > Software Updates > Find and
Install, the CF Extension upates are not there.
Interested in hearing if anyone else has had similar issues
and what they did to get the extensions installed.
    very strange, and extremely frustrating.
    Thanks

For anyone interested, I figured it out:
to generate a CFC, you have to right-click a table in the RDS Dataview, then you can generate a CFC. You cannot generate a CFC from an AS class as described in the CF Builder help within Flash Builder.
Adobe: it would be nice if this got fixed – and if someone there replied to posts like this. You do  know all this, don‘t you?

  • What is the replacement for design view in in flex builder 4.7 for cs extension builder?

Because design view is not available in flash builder than what is the use of extension builder in UI designing now we have to do design UI with xml which is very time consuming and boring  if there is any replacemnt for it than please help me .1 more thing i want to know is that when i make new default project in extension builder(flash builder 4.6) than it also not able to load design mode errror is
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6\eclipse\plugins\com.adobe.cside.libsinstaller_2.0.0.4-33034\archive\cslibs\2.0\4.5\re lease\apedelta.swc- not respondingSWC file failed to load. Any component dependent on this SWC file will not be displayed in the Design Mode. The SWC may have failed to load because of:
    *  Incompatible definitions caused by usage of a different SDK version
    *  Missing referred class definitions

I have researched this quite considerably and my understanding is that Adobe have no intention of supporting Design View any more for Extension Builder.  In my opinion a very disappointing decision and one that is hard to comprehend.
The best workaround I can find is to create the majority of your design in a parallel, non Extension Builder, project and then convert/import your design into your Extension.  This is by no means as satisfactory as having Design View for the Extension you are writing but it is better than simply creating your layout by guess work/trial and error.
Although this has not been announced by Adobe, I have a suspicion that the reason they have decided not to put any further resources into fixing Design View is that Extension Builder as we know it is going to be abandoned soon, probably replaced with an HTML5/JavaScript method of building extensions.  My concern with this is that, other than wanting reassurances that there will be backward compatibility support for old extensions, There will not be a way of compiling an extension in a way that prevents people from seeing your code.
This is all speculation and I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.  Hope this has helped.

  • Bug in the flex builder installer

I found a bug in the Flex builder installer, while someone
tried to install Flex on top of our EasyEclipse eclipse distro.
I am making a post here since I could not find a way to
report a bug anywhere on the Adobe web site :-\
So the bug is that the installer is looking for an eclipse
installation that is packaged exactly like the Eclipse platform,
but also specifically checks for the presence of features named
    org.eclipse.rcp and org.eclipse.platform.
Yet the flex features themselves do not care about other
features only about the platform plugins to be present, as it
    shoudl be.
It is considered a bad practice by the Eclipse platform team
to have a dependecy on features, and it is recommended to use
    instead plugin depdencies.
    See
    http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Version_Numbering#Versioning_features
As a result, Flex cannot be installed anywhere but on a vanilla
    Eclipse.
EasyEclipse does not ship the base features of the Eclipse
platform, yet all the Flex plugins dependencies are statisfied.
See our forum for more details:
    http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3982548

Getting back to the original message in this thread, I want
to post an update about what I learned on digging deeper. The Flex
Builder 2.0.1 Plug-in version does not require a vanilla eclipse to
install into, but it does impose some minimal constraints. Before
release, we installed FB 2.0.1 Plug-in successfully with several
customized Eclipse configurations, including RSA7 and BEA, each of
which uses a different folder configuration for its product
    extension point.
I took a close look at the dependency list for our FB 2.0.1
features, and these have been plugin-based dependencies all along,
not feature dependencies. I understand why it might appear as if
they're feature-based though, because our installer requires that
the feature named org.eclipse.platform be present.
We have the installer look for that feature, because that's
the way Eclipse's update manager reports what's already installed
and available. Eclipse's commandline API for updates only provides
    Feature info, not Plugin info:
    http://help.eclipse.org/help32/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.platform.doc.isv/reference/mis c/update_standalone.html
The FB Plug-in installer checks for the existence of
org.eclipse.platform so that we have some assurance that the
version of eclipse proposed is at least version 3.1.2 or higher. In
our next release, we'll explore alternate way of gleaning this same
information, with the intention of allowing plug-in installs into
products such as EasyEclipse that don't include any Eclipse
    features in their products.

  • Extension point documentation?

Are the Eclipse extension points defined by Flex Builder
described anywhere, or will they be in 2.0.1?
    com.adobe.flexbuilder.editors.mxml.quickFixProvider and
    com.adobe.flexbuilder.editors.mxml.contentAssistFactories are among
the more interesting sounding ones that I'm not sure how to
    use.

(xml snippet screwed up the format, sorry, reformatted it now)
Oh, I'm glad you find the report utility useful, as you have noticed the report is generated based on XSLT templates, so it's fully customizable if you are familiar with XSLT. Currently the default report does not display documentation for extension point, but you can modify the template file to retrieve and display the information you want, try this:
    1. go to your IDE user dir, the default is C:\Documents and Settings\<user_id>\.jstudio\Ent8, locate file under <userdir>\.uml\config\WebReportSupport\XSL\usecase.xsl
    2. modify the template section <xsl:template name="ExtensionPoints"> to add another column (next to the name column ) to display extension point documentation
                                           <td>
                                  <xsl:value-of select="@name"/>

  • How can I create an executable with Flex Builder 3?

I'm working with Flex Builder 3 right now and I've run my
head into a brick wall. Here's the situation:
I'm creating a standalone application (runs in its own
window, not in a web page) and I want to run it on a computer that
does not have Flex Builder 3 installed. Help files and web searches
haven't directed me to the right answer, so I was hoping that
someone on this forum could help. Anyone know how to create a .exe
file or something else that can be run outside of Flex Builder?
Thanks a lot for any help!

    Thanks Rob,
This may be what I'm looking for, but I don't know enough
about the difference. I guess I should have pointed out that I'm a
    complete Flex Novice!
Anyway, with Flex Builder, I created an MXML Application. I
went through all my various options again in Flex Builder and found
that under the project menu, I could export a release build in what
appears to be the format you mentioned. I managed to create a .air
file, but it is not a recognized file type on my computer. I tried
double clicking it and the built-in windows services couldn't even
find a possible way to run it. Am I missing some important step?
    Thanks again.

  • Problem Installing Adobe Flex Builder 3 (Standalone)

I have attempted a few times today to install the Flex Builder 3 standalone file, but I am having issues. I am currently using Adobe CS4 Design Premium on my computer.
I am new to this type of application development.  Currently, I mainly used flash to create my interactive applications, but I need to branch out to create more complex applications.  As I already know actionscript 3.0, I was interesting into getting into Flex.  I do not know Javascript, C++, etc.
Once I download the standalone file to my desktop and run the installer, I do not choose to download Flash Player 9 because I already have nor do I choose do download the Coldfusion or JSEclipse Plug-in as I do not have Eclipse on my computer (it comes with the standalone as I have been led to believe).  After running the installer, it almost gets to the end and then I get the following error message:
I click OK, it finishes the install and says
I go to the log file and get the following:

Can anybody help me on this?  Is there something I missing prior to download?

We're in the same boat here - the the behavour of xsd:all in
BETA 3 renders our Flex app virtually useless because of
communication issues with the backend webservice. We have studied
the proposed workaround suggested, unfortunately we only control
the FLEX app - we do not control the WS we have to integrate with.
As a result we've gone back to BETA 2 to do some critical
changes in the software but the "Beta expired." message we've been
receiving is really not well received. As we have been very
proactive in supporting development in the BETA phases including
reporitng bugs, we think that Adobe shoudl also have some
flexibility here and offer ways to extend the BETA 2. We're not
asking for any type of support during that phase - purely the
ability to compile our source until we can implement the full work
around which will allow the software to run on BETA 3. The
suggestion to change dates or go to previous restore points do not
work well here with our numerous developers.

  • Weird Positioning for Skinned Panel in Flex Builder 3

In the previous versions of the Flex Builder 3, even for the
Flex Builder 3 Beta Milestone 4, my custom skinned Panel component
worked fine. So I have an image skin and then I put into Flex
Builder, set the 9 slice settings, did some adjustments to the
headerHeight. And when I add a child component to the Panel
component, it will automatically be placed beneath the Panel's
title (like a VBox layout), position it inside the panel.
But now, compiling with the same files and css in the new
Flex Builder 3 final release, the Panel does not position the
children components correctly anymore. The children are still
positioned in a VBox layout but the first child started from the
point 0,0 of the Panel. So, the first child is overlapping the
Panel's title and all the children seems to go out of the Panel a
bit. This isn't what it used to be(that's to automatically position
them in the content are of the Panel component or at least within
    the 9 slice middle area).
A Panel that isn't skinned at all works fine.
Is there anything I have to change or do to solve this?
    Thanks.

Looks like what I am having is something close to that except
that my problem is related to the borderSkin and not the
borderStyle. But I have seen some of the comments talking about the
    borderSkin problem too.
What I have done now is I use the Flex 3 public release but
copied the sdk from the previous beta version and compile with that
    sdk.
It kind of resolves that panel bug problem(since I am just
using the old version) but I am sure I will be missing out any new
features that the new Flex 3 public release has.

  • Flex Builder 3 forgets valid serial number, constant prompt

    Hi all,
I installed Flex Builder 3 on a Windows XP 32 bit machine under one user account. It came up and worked great for several days. Later on, I made another user account and tried to use Flex Builder 3. Each time it starts up it says my trial period is expired and I need to enter a serial number. At that point I re-enter my serial and it accepts it as valid. However, as soon as I move to build a project or do practically anything, the program re-prompts that my trial period is expired and I need to re-enter a valid serial.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Flex Builder a number of times, but that does not help this issue. I have deleted the file c:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flex\license.properties, but that does not fix the issue. Deleting this file gives me a new trial period and the same behavior of accepting and "forgetting"/"ignoring" my valid serial number. One note, this file does contain my serial number and the date and time that the program most recently accepted it as a valid serial number.
Are there registry keys that perhaps did not get unset or other "magic files" that I need to delete to completely reset the serialization process? It is very frustrating that it is not accepting and "remembering" the valid license key.
    Thanks for any guidance!

Maybe you could try this -> http://forums.adobe.com/message/2650236#2650236
I have the same problem, but it's unsolved, cause I'm working on a mac…
