Problem with image loading in flex (with web dynpro ABAP integration)

Hi,
I am working with integration of flex and web dynpro abap. I am facing unusal problem while loading the images. I have the images in the MIME folder of web dynpro application. Since my swf file and all the images that I want to use are in the same folder(MIME), I am accessing them giving just the image name as source for the image in flex.
By this method I get the images sometimes, but not everytime. So could anyone suggest me alternative method.

Hello Prashant,
you need to mention the full path as source for the image in flex.
ex. if your WD application name is Z_TEMP and image file name in mime folder is 'image.jpg' then you need mention the source in flex as
http://servername:50001/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/Z_TEMP/image.jpg

Embedding Flex in Web Dynpro with mutual interaction

Hi all,
This is a problem which is arisen due to shortcomings/restrictions in Web Dynpro. What all I want is a dynamic, editable, sortable drop_down_by_index UI element which not only lists values from RFC mapped with index but also allows user to type-in the values in the input field of it and the values get sorted with each key press of user so as helping user to search from the list and when user selects something from the list, the onSelect event raises and triggers some other things. I know is not possible in Web Dynpro in NW04s. (Any takers ?)
For this, I have planned to embed a similar UI element developed in Flex with all above features in an iFrame within the Web Dynpro screen and that iFrame will be as a cell in a column of a table. There will be three web services deployed along with this application, one that supplies all the data from the RFC, second having searching and sorting funtionalitie Is and populates drop_down and the third to take on onSelect event from the Flex component and gets it handled in the Web Dynpro component.
How far do you feel that it is doable in the way I am talking and what will be severity of deterioration the performance of the overall application is going to get as it's efficiency is somewhat pleasing right now ?

Hello guys,
Come on...send-in your thoughts...this is not rocket science. I could have done this by developing my own UI component containing the required UI elements if setting exact position of a pop-up window in Web Dynpro is possible. (Any takers ?)
I know the solution I have given in combersome but what all I am looking here is a simpler but effective solution.
I shall be highly obliged if someone can provide me the ideas of accomplishing this task.

Error in integrating flex with web dynpro abap

I did integrating Island Component into Web Dynpro ABAP as per the tutorial given by Thomas Jung.
Now i'm facing a problem that in that bar chart ,after giving the values in web dynpro table,bars are not getting populated.
I'm getting X and Y axis populated...only bars are not getting populated..

No need to use WDURLGenerator service. You can directly give flash object name which you have imported in mimes->components-><package>.

Adobe Flash Islands + Web Dynpro Java - CE 7.1 EHP1

Hi All,
I am currently working on flash islands in web dynpro java(CE 7.1 EHP1 Trail version). i have done some sample projects in Flex Builder and using the complied(Flex Complier 2.0) SWF file, i was able to do data transfer between web dynpro java and Flex component. every thing works fine till this but if i complie the flex project using Flex Complier 3.0, i am able to see the Flex component rendered in web dynpro java, but data transfer dosent work.
i have checked few thread in SDN and came to know to use WDFlashIsland30.SWC library to complie using FLex Builder 3.0.
i got this library and complie the Flex Component using Flex Complier 3.0 and placed this WDFlashIsland30.SWC in server also but the problem exists .... the complied Flex Component is getting reddered in web dynpro java but the data transfer is not happening ???
what could be problem ???
1. Is it enough to place the WDIslandLibrary30.swc libraby in CE 7.1 EHP1 version for data communication between Flex and Web Dynpro Java if so what could be the problem ?
2. Or do i need update the Server ???

HI,
your issue is completely independent from the server, it's a pure client problem. In general Web Dynpro Java does not care which Flex version you used to compile, as long as you used the right library.
If you did not change anything else it should work. Are you sure you replaced the used library and changed the source-code-compliance before recompiling?

I'm afraid that the SAP supplied integration technology - call FlashIslands - is only available from NetWeaver 7.01 and forward. You could perhaps do some simple integration (very little data transfer) with the iFrame UI element - although the iFrame is deprecated in 7.0 and 7.01, but does return to full support in 7.02. The other option would be to use the NetWeaver Portal or NetWeaver Business Client and have two iViews within the page. One iView would have WDA and the other some external technology (BSP, JSP, etc) to host the Flash/Flex content. Not tight integration, but you could potentially use Portal Eventing to at least communicate events.

He used flex 3 to develop the flex application. i am using flex 4 downloaded from adobe(At a time Build release I used low version only 3.5). I followed all the steps. At a time of Run the data was not came.

Interactive problem in Web Dynpro for Java and Flex

Hi, all:
     Now I'm can use the FlashIsland to embed a flash developed by flex builder 3 in a Web Dynpro View, I have made the data transfer between Web Dynpro View and the flash, also have I got events of the flash in Web Dynpro View. But now the problem is that in the flex flash, how can I get the actions such as button action from the Web Dynpro View?
     Is there anybody that has the experience to deal with such a problem ? Can you give me some help ?

Adobe Flex 4 with ABAP web dynpro

I currently am working with Flex 3 but wanted few features of Flex 4 for my project. Is there any way that I can use Flex 4 with ABAP web dynpro. I have tried using the 'Use Flex 3 compatibility mode' with 'merged into code' but this does not work. There is no data transfer happening. I see in the forums that this is not possible but all the posts are one year old. Just wanted to check if any new method is availabe.

Is it possible to integrate Web dynpro ABAP with adobe flex ?
Can we integrate the standard ABAP web dynpro floor plan manager screen with adobe flex ?
Brief about my requirement: I have refer few articals about ABAP web dynpro is easyely integrate with adobe flex. My client is currently implementing SRM 7.0 for procure to pay process. For your information, standard SRM 7.0 are developed in ABAP Web dynpro floorplan manager. In my client,other processess such as order to cash, resource management etc screen are designed in Web dynpro Java(deployed in SAP EP) to make it more user friendly and good in resolution. My client is very much happy with SRM 7.0 business logic, however not happy with the standard SRM screen. They have asked to redesign SRM screen to make it more user friendly and good in resolution.

I've seen a couple of responses to questions about the mixing of Web Dynpro and Adobe Flex technologies...
This thread mentions a "Flex Client" which is reportedly able to render existing Web Dynpro apps in Flex: WebDynPro ABAP in adobe flex client
This thread mentions a technology called "Web Dynpro Islands" which is apparently Flex components within Web Dynpro apps: Flex with WebDynPro
These concepts seem very different to me - the first being a run-time solution to Flex rendering and the second, design-time. In my opinion, the Flex Client sounds like a more flexible (excuse the pun) solution as it allows the designer to concentrate on application functionality and leaves the visual styling to the GUI. Following on from this thought, the Flex Client gives an added benefit in that, if the person executing the app wants to view it in the current WD style as opposed to Flex, they have this option by choosing a different rendering tool/user interface... and the underlying WD app remains untouched!
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
On a potentially negative side of the Flex Client technology, is the this client yet another GUI tool that needs to be rolled-out and maintained on users' PCs or will it simply be a plugin that can be downloaded on-the-fly and used in a web browser (in a similar way to an ActiveX control)?
I hope this stimulates some interesting discussions...

You're explanation of the use of Web Dynpro Islands was very useful - I was assuming that any UI elements created for Flex designer could also be created as a Web Dynpro component for the Web Dynpro designer (ABAP or Java) but you make a good point that they have different capabilities.
I think, my biggest concern was that the visual style of the WD Island/Flex component would be so different to the the rest of the WD app that it would stick out like a sore thumb but if you use the Flex Client to render it, as you suggested, then every UI element in the app should look and behave consistently... another assumption...
This makes me wonder whether we'll need to use the Flex Client for all our portal apps to keep the look-and-feel consistent throughout the portal. There's nothing worse to a user than having one UI element behave a certain way in one app and a totally different way in another - eg. compare the scrolling functionality of the WD table element to the Flex table element.
I'll look forward to hearing more about the Flex Client in the near future.

I have a good idea regarding to what the possibilities are of each User Interface, but I would like your opinions:
What are the main advantages/disadvantages of each of the named User Interfaces?
So what's good/not good about BSP, Web Dynpro, Interactive Forms, Flex?
What's the easiest to code, to make a layout,....

I got your problem. You have not done anything wrong.
It is WebAS version which is not supported for this functionality.
But there is solution to this problem
Please refer to the SAP Note number - 1055738.
I think you will get the answer and the scenario described there will match your requirement.
This is a know issues with WebDypro ABAP but this works fine for Java Web Dynpro.
I have also tried for 2 months but finally came to know about it.
