Flex wont launch my AIR app

Now whenever I launch my air app I get this error:
Process terminated without establishing connection to debugger.
Command:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\3.2.0\bin\adl.exe" D:\fromLapTop\lapDocs\Flex\Workspaces\MothersRings\MothersRingsAir\bin-debug\MothersRings Air-app.xml D:\fromLapTop\lapDocs\Flex\Workspaces\MothersRings\MothersRingsAir\bin-debug
Output from command:
error while loading initial content
I verified everything was in the locations specified. I also search on google and found a post somewhere that said I should change the xml namespace I tried: http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/1.1 and http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/1.5 but then it says it can't resolved <mx:WindowedApplication> as a component.
Here is the source code:

Can anyone help me out?
Thanks!!

I agree with the first response...I usually see this error when I have already launched a test of the project (clicked the play button) and forgot to close it.  The issue you saw on the Internet will usually cause it not to run or do anything except just sit there.  I have to change that setting every  time I go from an XP to Vista machine...even though the both have AIR 1.5 on them.  If I don't change it, it doesn't run which bothers me from a distribution concern...I hope it will run regardless of the OS.

  • Launching an AIR app from another (when offline)?

    I have a pair of AIR applications that are meant to work
    together as part of an application suite. One feature is that a
    user should be able to click a button in APP_1 and launch APP_2 (if
    installed). To do this I created a "LaunchButton.swf" that loads
    "air.swf". This works GREAT when the user is online and "air.swf"
    is able to be loaded from "
    http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/browserapi/air.swf".
    I tried to copy "air.swf" locally and use that instance but I am
    guessing that it doesn't work due to security restrictions.
    If there are any AIR engineers reading this (Oliver?) please
    let me know if there is a solution to "Launching an AIR app from
    another (when offline)?"
    Thanks!

    I think theoretically it shouldn't work, and doesn't by the
    response you give. Remember a functional work around isn't always a
    fix. What you've essentially done is loaded the air.swf into a
    sandbox bridge, bridging it between a web sandbox and an
    application sandbox, therefore you're able to call its methods
    without security errors. However, if the air.swf loads in another
    swf, maybe a helper swf, you won't be able to access any methods in
    that swf, neither will the air.swf. To my understanding, it's not
    grandfathered into the sandbox bridge, but retains its web sandbox.
    Before going crazy about the bad news I may have just given,
    wait until Ted returns to give you a response. I could be way off
    par here :) Good luck!

  • How to set flex builder profiler for AIR apps ?

    Hi everybody !
    I am trying to profile my AIR app but I can't run the profiler....
    For flex app (in web browser) profiler works fine, for my AIR app, debug works but profiler just display 'socket timeout'.
    I also try to profile my air app as an external application profiler start but crash saying NativeWindow not found (like AIR sdk was not found...)
    SO How I can't set my AIR player or my profiler to work ???
    Thx all and happy christmas !

    Hello,
    I would be glad if someone show me how to accomplish those. I am new to Java so I am not sure how to do those.
    Best Regards.
    1. create a batch file to launch your 'desktop' app - the batch file should set the proper environment (JAVA_HOME,, path, etc)
    2. create a small wrapper application that is launched by Java web start.
    3. the wrapper app will do nothing more use ProcessBuilder to execute the batch file you created which will then launch the app
    That way Java web start can use 1.7 to launch the wrapper app but the batch file will set the environment to 1.5 for the other app.

  • Launch desktop AIR app from swf button

    I have a very simple task. I have an AIR app installed. All I want to be able to do is launch it from a swf button. I am building the swf button in Flash CS6. How do I do this? All it has to do is launch the app. No fancy stuff, no installs, no validation. Just launch the darn app. I can't seem to find a simple solution. Thanks!

    Not sure exactly why yet, but I finally found something that worked!!!! Hope this saves someone else hours of research:
    myCustomBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, versionDetectCallback);
    var _air:Object;
    var _loader:Loader;
    var appID:String = "thenameofmyapp";
    var pubID:String = " ";
    function loadAir() : void
    _loader = new Loader();
    var loaderContext:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext();
    loaderContext.applicationDomain = ApplicationDomain.currentDomain;
    _loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT,onInit);
    _loader.load(new   URLRequest("http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/browserapi/air.swf"),loaderContext);
    function onInit(event:Event) : void
    _air = event.target.content;
            //the pubID argument resolves to and empty string ""
            _air.getApplicationVersion(appID, pubID, versionDetectCallback);
    function versionDetectCallback(event:MouseEvent) : void
           _air.launchApplication(appID,pubID);
    loadAir();

  • Launch native air app(desktop) using URI scheme

    Have a air application for handling files. Is it possible to launch using URI.
    The same question has been asked on stack overflow without definite answer
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8956316/open-a-native-air-app-via-url

    It does have half an answer. SWFs can request loading AIR applications so they suggested embedding a SWF on the page which would be able to launch your AIR application. Your link would need to fire off some JavaScript to use the ExternalInterface with the SWF to relay your request inside the SWF.
    If you really want it on Windows for example then you'll need to register your URI, the example should be self explainatory:

  • IPad wont launch bbc iplayer app

    Suddenly iplayer and its channel 4 equivalent have stopped working with iPad; icon just 'wobbles' 'and app does not launch. Same experience anyone?thanks bob

    perhaps you have to restart your iPad.
    Press and hold the Lock button and the Home button  for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
    Press and hold the Lock button until the Apple logo appears.
    or reinstall the App

  • Need to 'launch' AIR app from SD card on Samsung Galaxy TABLET...

    April/28/11 at 3pm ET
    Hi to the group...
    Not 100% sure if this is proper forum to ask this, if anyone knows a better one please point me to it via ([email protected])
    Ok. Trying to see if my working .AIR app will run on my pals Samsung Tablet (before I buy one for myself)...
    Dropped the 'AIR' file onto the SD card (I can see it (the AIR file, size correct) via the fileBrowser app but clicking it does nothing.
    Of note AIR is installed in background of the device and it is running.
    Cant see/find an 'Adobe AIR launcher?' icon' anywhere (only see Adobe PDF browser).
    In all my web searching I see 10000 developer related tutorials re: creating an APK file / converting to APK file using Flash Professional ect.  Not what I am looking for...
    I think I am missing something very basic here is there a launcher for AIR apps on Android?
    TIA //GregH

    Hello
    Thank you for your post.
    You cannot throw directly from your external device, however you can once that file is transferred to internal memory.
    please review this guide for instructions on how.
    How to throw (send) music, video or picture files to a DNLA compatible device.

  • Windows Explorer Right Click - Open file in Air App

    I have an AIR App that I made to run on my desktop.  It is used for editing specifc XML files.  I want to know if its possible to setup so that I can right click on an XML file while browsing Windows Explorer and choose an option to "Open in (my AIR App)" ... that would lauch my AIR app and also open the xml.
    Right now, I have to launch my AIR app, click to open a file, and then browse for the file and select it.

    ok so after all of this time, i stumbled upon something that should solve my problem.  i created a new AIR file in flash and put a text field on the stage with the name "my_txt" then I just added this bit of script (below) .... then once I installed the air app, i opened a file into the app and the path to the file was displayed in the text box thats on the stage.  now i just have to use this path to actually open the file.
    import flash.events.InvokeEvent;
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(InvokeEvent.INVOKE, invoked);
    function invoked(evt:InvokeEvent):void{
              my_txt.text = String(evt.arguments[0]);

  • Flex 3.3 can't launch AIR apps on Mac

    When using the 3.3 SDK if I try to debug an application I get
    this error:
    Process terminated without establishing connection to
    debugger.
    If the program is already running, close it before attempting
    to debug.
    I have tried all manner of restarting down to my full system.
    Flex/Flash Player works fine, its just launching AIR. If I try to
    run the AIR app (rather than debug) nothing happens at all --
    nothing launches, no errors, nothing.
    I'm using a MacBook Pro, Intel Core2Duo, OSX 10.5. The
    problem has been replicated on a coworkers' Mac as well. I haven't
    tested on Windows.

  • AIR apps won't launch from flex builder

    Hi,
    I am currently working on my first AIR app inside of Flex
    Builder 3. For some reason, when I try to launch, profile, or debug
    the app, it does it's normal "Loading.." message in the
    bottom-right corner, but will never launch. The loading message
    just disappears and the app never shows up. I do have the AIR
    runtime installed. I receive this message when trying to profile
    the application:
    Process terminated without establishing connection to

    Can anyone help?

    If you are using mx:Application, you need to set visible as
    true in the app.xml file.
    Also make sure that no instance of adl is already running. If
    so kill that instance via task manager.

    You might have the ADL open already and had a bug, so it's
    not going to show the new application.
    You need to manually close ADL first before you try debugging
    another time. If you're on a PC, use Task Manager ->
    Processes... and end ADL.EXE
    Then try running the app again... it should sort it
    out.

  • Example working Flex AIR app for Android?

    I'm having trouble getting even the most basic AIR app working on Android. Here is the code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:WindowedApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                            xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
                            xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" xmlns:local="*"
                            width="600" height="600">
         <fx:Declarations>
             <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
         </fx:Declarations>
         <mx:Label text="Hello World"/>
    </s:WindowedApplication>
    It works fine running on  Windows in Flash Builder, obviously it's pretty simple. Here are the  commands I use to put it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab with Android 2.2.
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe  Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adt -package -storetype pkcs12  -keystore C:\Users\Ryan\STG-Android.pfx Test2.air Test2-app.xml  Test2.swf
    password:
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adt -package  -target apk -storetype pkcs12 -keystore C:\Users\Ryan\STG-Android.pfx  Test2.apk Test2-app.xml Test2.swf
    password:
    test
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adb install -r Test2.apk
    2286 KB/s (419172 bytes in 0.179s)
             pkg: /data/local/tmp/Test2.apk
    Success
    A Test2 app icon shows up on my Galaxy Tab  under Applications but when I run the app I just see a plain white  screen, I don't see the words "Hello World". Any ideas? Does anyone have  an example Flex AIR app that works on Android and can post the code so I  can try it on my Galaxy Tab? I know AIR is installed correctly on my  Galaxy because I installed an AIR app called South Park Avatar Creator  that I got from the market and it works fine.
    Thanks,
    Ryan
    P.S.  Here is the Test2-app.xml from my non-working project above in case it  helps. This is the default generated with a new Flex app in Flash  Builder 4 using the Flex 4.1.0 AIR 2.5 SDK but I uncommented the andoid  tags and set the visible tag to true.

  • Convert HTML/javascript AIR app to flex-based AIR app?

    Hi all,
    I've already built an AIR app using HTML/javascript that I
    would like to monetize.
    I would like to use O2app's E-Commerce framework, which right
    now only supports Flex-created AIR apps.
    My question: Is there a simple way to "convert" an
    HTML/javascript AIR app to Flex 3 format? I'd rather not have to
    rebuild the app from scratch in Flex 3 if I don't have to. :)
    Thanks,
    Al

    Hi,
    There's no simple way to convert an HTML AIR app to flex.
    But it is possible to create HTML Root windows from a Flex
    AIR App. By root window, I mean the same kind of window that is
    launched when you launch an HTML AIR App.
    For more info, look at the HTMLLoader.createRootWindow()
    call. (This will be available from a Flex AIR app as well)

  • Launch apple store from AIR app (IOS)

    Hi,
    How I could launch the apple store from my flex AIR app? I need the tipical "go to app store" button...
    Thanks!
    Jorge

    You can go to a particular app in the app sotre by using navigateToURL function with the URL of the app as parameter. Please check this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4309691 But not sure how to open only the app store.
