do exist any PATH to solution the problem?

Not all Powerbook G3s support this option.
Some you have to command-option-shift-delete.
But initially the big question is, why are you posting in the Leopard forum if no Powerbook G3 can run Leopard? Do you have this problem on a newer Mac with Leopard? If we knew what configuration this problem was having a problem with, and what Other OS you are running, that would be helpful.

after writing an html report on a floppy disk and removing it, labview shows an error message window: disk not present.
My pc is based on asus motherboard. Labview 7 and Windows 2000 sp4 installed.
The error message continue also if i stop the application that generated report on a: .
I've got this problem only on a pc: on other machines i don't have this problem (Labview only continues to access floppy but it doesn't show any window).
Find below an example: first press the button to create a report on a: then remove the floppy, after 30-35 sec i've got the error message

    Hi,
I tried your vi: I don't get any error message after removing the disk but LV7 keeps on accessing the drive at regular intervals even if you stop the vi and close it!!! This is not supposed to happen.
The only way to stop it is exit LV7.
If you don't use the file dialog and you wire a full path, you don't get any problem.
I also created a very simple vi that conditionally writes a text file on a: and I got the same behaviour.
This problem occurs only with LV7, I tried the same examples in LV6.1 and everything was fine.
If anybody wants to try I attach this simple example,
    Alberto

  • No Disk error Messages in PSE8

On and off I keep getting the following error message when I switch between Edit and Orgainzier in PSE8
and sometime other times.  Photoshop ElementsOrgainzer.exe-No Disk    There is no disk in the
drive.   Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk4\DR4.
I have to hit Cancel 3-4 times to get rid of it.
What is this and how do I stop it?  Tks. ALan

I have recently experienced this message repeatedly in PSE6 running on Vista. I believe after either saving a file from PSE6 to a floppy in drive A or opening a file in PSE6 from an SD memory card in drive J. Resolved by recreating both situations then ensuring that i used photoshop to open files from and save files to the resident C drive before removing the floppy disk from drive A and using the 'safely remove hardware' function in Vista to confirm that it was safe to remove the SD card.
Following this procedure I have experienced no more 'no disk error messages'

  • I've got a system 7.1 folder that contains a disk tools.image how can i put this on a floppy disk?

I got myself a PowerBook 165 that has a moved file in the system folder thats stopping it from booting up. I downloaded a system 7 disk tools.image off the internet but the only thing is that I don't know what to do know. I got a usb floppy drive that I use sometimes for my pc stuff but sice mac os 10.8 dosn't have support for HFS I can't copy the image on to the disk. I also have a imac from 2000 that can read HFS files and write them but when ever i try and use disk utility to copy the image over to the floppy disk it always gives me an error. Can someone please help me? I really want my PowerBook to work again.

Was that on the G3 iMac, under Mac OS 9.2 or 10.4?
Is StuffIt Expander installed and active? If so, you could check whether the StuffIt Expander preferences are set to mount images (choose not to instead).
Anyway, download the Network Access Disk 7.5 file (preferably when the machine is running Mac OS 9.2). Use StuffIt Expander to decode the MacBinary (.bin). The self-expanding archive (.sea) will probably open automatically (otherwise, double-click on the .sea file). Locate a Network Access.image file inside the resulting Network Access folder.
Now, try Disk Copy 4.2 under Mac OS 9.2. Do not double-click on the image file. Instead, launch the Disk Copy (4.2) program. Choose to Load Image File, and select and open the Network Access.image. Then, click on the Make A Copy button. It may or may not be possible to create a floppy this way through a USB drive.
If Disk Copy 4.2 does not work, try Disk Copy 6.3.3 (Mount Image under the Image menu) with the Network Access.image file. The mounted image will be called Network Access. Insert a floppy in the USB drive before you choose Make a Floppy from the Utilities menu in Disk Copy 6.3.3.
If the above does not work, again mount the Network Access.image file using Disk Copy 6.3.3. Open the mounted image (Network Access). Inside is a System Folder. Open this System Folder and remove all files from the three folders Apple Menu Items, Control Panels and Extensions (throw them into the Wastebasket/Trash, do not forget to empty the Wastebasket/Trash). The size of the System Folder is now somewhat smaller. Try to drag-copy the System Folder onto an empty (freshly Mac-formatted) 1.44 MB floppy disk in the USB drive. This may or may not work.
Otherwise, you may want to test the Mac OS X dd procedure (the LowEndMac article).
Alternatively, you may want to use an old Windows PC with a built-in floppy drive (and Aladdin/StuffIt Expander and WinImage).

  • KT4AV floppy disk not working

    Hi,
I've tried several floppy disks (all of which work in other computers), and also flashed the bios to the latest version, and cleared the cmos.
What I'm still getting is this: I put a floppy disk into the diskdrive (in Windows, in DOS it seems to work... ), and get the following error: 'the disk is not formatted, whould you like to format it now?'. The disk works in other computers (tested).
I already tried the things mentioned above, and also replaced the FDD cable, and turned both the sides around (checked all possible combinations there). ...
    Still, the same problem .
    Has anyone had this before?
Or has anyone an idea how to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeroen ter Heerdt

As I didn't yet get further replies...
    Please help me!
I've got a new PC (see specs below), but the floppy diskdrive won't work. I tried several floppy's (that all work in another pc) and also another floppy diskdrive (that works in another pc to). I replaced the cable, and tried all possible combinations of connections.
I've also update the motherboard to the latest BIOS.
In DOS the floppy diskdrive works correctly.  What can be wrong?
I've tested it in Windows XP, Windows 98 and Windows 2000, but nothing works.
Can anyone give me a clue? Should I return the motherboard?
    Thanks for your reply.

  • About floppy disk

Hello, I have a question about the floppy disk. How can I mount the floppy disk? Which device under the /dev directory represents the floppy disk, /dev/fd0 or /dev/diskette or /dev/diskette0? How can I mount the floppy disk manually? I think the floppy disk is a block device. Am I right?
When I try to mount the floppy disk using the following command, it always returns error.
    # mount /dev/fd0 /floppy
mount: /dev/fd0 is already mounted, /floppy is busy,
or the allowable number of mount points has been exceeded
    What is the problem? Thanks

    Hi,
Have you stopped vold? If not run /etc/rc2.d/S92volmgt stop.
    Hope that helps.

  • "Firmware","disk error","can't mount it": Is this the end?

"Firmware","disk error","can't mount it": Is this the end? My iShuffle is DEAD?
I think it's dead but as my last breath i will try to find any different solution before to bury it. Sorry for my English, I am Brazilian, but I will try do my best for you understand me. It’s me who needs help.
    I have an iShuffle 512MB (purchase OUT2005), a mini iPod 6GB (purchase SET2005) and a PC running Windows XP SP2 (ADM Athlon XP 2600, HD 120GB, 512MB RAM, 6 USB 2.0).
My mini iPod 6GB (miP6) works correctly with iTunes 5 or 6, with its original factory software and settings and now with iPod update October 2005. I don’t know if everything started when I first connected them two at the same time but they were working fine in the beginning.
One day my iShuffle, connected to my PC USB and transferring music from iTunes, , started to turn off and turn on, that is, iTunes showed it connected and then disconnected even I wasn’t touching it. When it came back in iTunes I started to try to transfer music to it and this time it came off, and then came back without that music I tried to transfer in. This situation didn’t go better even when I try to change my iPod to the other five USB ports, neither in my Notebook (PC WinXP SP2). I have reinstalled iPod with the original CD software, reinstalled iTunes and all the things I read at this forum. The situation was going worse until now, I don’t know why, I can’t use it anymore. The current situation, after all I did – and I will explain what was - is:
    1) When I connect it to a USB in my PC or Notebook, windows recognize it as a mass storage device and iTunes don’t start automatically.
    2) I go to windows explorer and there it is, “Drive E: removable disk”, but…
    3) But it looks like a Drive, with no disk in it. It’s a kind of a CD-ROM drive with NO CD inside it. This way, I can’t format it because I can’t format a drive, just a disk, even partition it.
    4) When I connect it to other PCs (winXP), with no iPod software installed, the systems first recognize it as Apple iPod and then as USB Mass Storage device, but the same way at my PC: OKB.
    5) When I try to run iPod Updater I receive most of the times this message: “Can’t mount it”. Some times it recognizes it as an iPod but I receive the message, during the restoring original software process, “Firmware update failure. Disk write error”, as you can see here: http://www.ivan.med.br/ishuffle.jpg.
    6) So, to try to use Updater, at this time, is out of question. If there is anyway to save it, I think it must be through other software or adjustment, I don’t know. I will show you a brief of what I have done until now:
    “Windows-try”
    - Current updater. Reinstalled old updater and run too. Reinstalled iTunes and all this stuff.
    - Changed USB connection and reinstall USB drives.
    - Installed iShuffle at another machine the same way described in iShuffle Manual.
    - Tried to format it using windows explorer format tool and other no-windows native tools.
    - Used partition magic and other tool to try to build anything in it.
    - Used Click Administrative Tools, double-clicked Computer Management, and then clicked Disk Management in the left pane. Nothing appeared. When I connect my miP6 it is there, and everything works fine. Just remember.
    - Used Windows tools (CMD tools) as DiskPart and MountVol. Nothing.
    “DOS-Try”
    - I used a bootable win98 formatted floppy disk, with USB ASPI support, and the system recognized the two USB devices I have connected that time: my Apple “DEAD” iShuffle and my Pendrive. But it could not assign a letter to iSuffle device, only for the pendrive. I’ve used DUSE software too and the same answer, even with an instruction INT13 that allow me to use Fdisk. But even Fdisk could not recognize the iPod as a Disk.
So, this is my story. If anyone could understand it and know anything better than to bury it, send me your message, PLEASE. If you want to send me any software or tool you think can help me, my e-mail address

Same problem in the US...after 1 week of use, hit the reverse button while playing and it stopped, never to resume. Tried the latest software updater for both the ipod and itunes, and received the Ipod Service and Can't Mount Errors. After multiple attempts, all I get is the updater screen stating Initializing.. Additionally, when I tried to reinstall, it stated that the ipod needed to be formatted, yet I received a message that the ipod couldn't communicate. Seems like too many people are having the same issue!

  • Erasing and re-titling a floppy disk using Disk Utility in OS Tiger

I am trying to erase and re-title a floppy disk using "Disk Utility." I keep getting an error message that "Disk Utility" cannot open the disk.
I'm using an external FD drive that plugs into the USB port and is recognized without the use of driver software. When the floppy disk icon appears on the desktop, and I select it, the use of "return" and typing in a new name has no effect. The floppy disk icon reappears named "Untitled."
    Any suggestions?

Is the disk locked? Haven't used a floppy in quite awhile, but do remember that they had a slider that would lock it.

  • Bogus Disk Error With SL

Updated yesterday, only problem of note is this error:
"The disk you inserted is not readable by this computer" The error window has 'Ignore" and "Eject" radio buttons.
This error happens immediately after log in, as either me or as a guest. If I click on either button the window goes away and everything appears to be fine until I restart/power on restart again.
I also disconnected all external devices such as my external disk for Time Machine or a Zip Drive and a Iomega floppy disk drive. Still does it.

When you launch - or the radio dialogue offers to initialize (it launches Disk Utility and doesn't do anything).
Sounds like it is seeing a hidden volume or partition.
When did you last REPAIR your drive? last reformat?
There are hidden partitions that can only be created during a full format, and during that time, it checks integrity and for weak/bad blocks to map out.
Sounds like there is an underlying error. This has nothing to do with disk permissions or ownership.
Do you have more than one partition on your hard drive that you use?
If it was me, I would install SL on one of your external devices, create a 25GB partition from your TimeMachine or other drive with free space, and use that for disk maintenance and repairs - and use a good 3rd party tool (Disk Warrior is popular but may not work with SL) so use Apple First Aid while booted from there and inspect and repair. For now, from SL DVD boot and go to Utility => Disk Utilty and REPAIR HARD DRIVE.

  • Impossible to read/format floppy disks

    Hi,
    My config is :
    MSI 865PE Neo2 PFISR
    P4 2.8 GHz HT enabled
    Corsair Twinx 2*256 Mo Cas2
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro no OC
    Hitachi 7k250 160 Go SATA
    Enermax Noisetaker 370 W
    AMIBIOS 3.4
Windows XP + SP1 + all latest updates (no SP2)
I've just assembled my PC. However, each time I insert a floppy disk, Windows says that the disk is not formatted (which is false). When I click on Yes to format it, I have, after some time, a message saying that Windows cannot format it (and another one saying that the disk cannot be formatted).
When I select the option "create a boot disk" to format it, I receive a message signaling an unexpected I/O error.
    - I've bought a new floppy drive because I had some doubts about the old one : no change.
    - I checked with another IDE : no change.
    - I reversed the IDE : no change.
The device manager says that there is no problem on the Floppy disk drive.
The disks are not protectedagainst writing.
What could be the origin of the problem ?
I have not flashed the BIOS as I can't use the floppy disk drive.
    Thanks for your help !
    Sathor

    Hi Sticks,
Yes, I had already tried to flip the IDE connector, but that was not the cause.
However, I have solved my problem !
I checked the new floppy disk drive on my old PC (PII 350) with the old IDE connector and the new one(MSI). It worked perfectly (though not at the first try). I copied and read files.
I put back the FDD on the IDE connector (MDI) and it works !
I'm really puzzled. What was really the problem ? I have tried all combinations with my 2 FDD and 2 IDE connectors several times this past week and today it works. Well, that'll remains a mystery.
    Unfortunately, all is not perfect.
I have flashed the BIOS (version 3.80) via DOS.
I have set the BIOS to have the SATA recognized. Last time, I loaded defaults values, that's why I had the version 3.31a.
From time to time, I have still the problem with CoreCenter warning me about the CPU fan speed. I have not touched the fan since the assembling, so it's rather strange.
    Any ideas ?

  • Can't enter bios afer update. Raid "Cam read disk error"

I've been having really bad performance out of my HP a6863w machine.  I've tried everything to speed it up but no luck.  I finally decided to update the bios to 5.13 on my MSI MS-7548 (Aspen) motherboard.  The bios seemed to flash properly, but when it powered off to reboot, I now get an error message and can't enter the bios using any F keys or ctrl-home combo's.  It appears that the system was changed to RAID but I can't enter the Bios to change it back.  I get the following:
    "RAID option ROM Vesion 3.0.1545.55
    Cam read disk error!"
and then nothing works.  I've tried everything F key, ctrl-home, ctrl-i, pulling the CMOS battery and reset, and nothing work.  The screen right before the RAID screen looks like it is hardware diagnostics but then says:
"Default BIOS settings have been loaded due to BIOS update or checksum issue."
and then something about pressing F10 or allowing the system to boot.  However, F10 does nothing.
    What can I do?

The best way is to use a 98 boot disk with the ramdrive. XP boot disks don't work.
Windows OEM bootdisks load basic tools like format, etc to a ramdrive. Watch the last line it will say "The diagnostic tools were loaded to your drive E:" or similiar.
You will find alll the tools there, you will also copy the BIOS file and the flash utility to the RAMDRIVE and run the flash from that.
Go here http://www.bootdisk.com/ and download the 98SE OEM boot disk.
Get the latest bios and flash utility on another floppy and keep them handy.
Boot with the 98Boot disk created by the utility you downloaded from bootdisk.com.
As mentioned above, the disk will create a RAM drive and name it. If all your drives are NTFS, it will likely be called C:\ but be sure and do a "dir /p" at the prompt to see the contents, if you see files like "ramdrive.exe" and "Format.com" etc. then you know thats the RAMDRIVE.
Remove the 98 floppy and insert the floppy with the BIOS and flash utility and then copy the files to the RAMDRIVE, you can then launch the utility and flash from that point.
I recommend taking notes on your current BIOS settings and then just select "Load Setup Defalts" option to reset all the settings to the original, and set the BIOS to boot from the floppy then save and restart with the 98floppy.
After the flash is successful, imediately re-enter the BIOS and put your settings back the way they were.
If you don't do this, you take the chance of losing options that were disabled prior to the flash, it can carry over to the new flash.

  • "No Disk" Error (premiere elements 11)

I have successfully installed Adobe Premiere Elements 11 on my PC:
         Dell XPS 8300
Intel Core i7-2600 Quad Core (3.4 GHz, 8MB Cache)
         • 1GB Radeon HD 6450 Graphics
         • 16GB DDR3 1333 RAM
         • 1TB 7,200RPM Hard Drive (2 x 500GB RAID 0)
         • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
When I open the application and click "New Project" I get the following error message:
    AdobePremiereElements.exe - No Disk
There is no disk in the drive.  Please insert a disk into drive
         \Devices\harddisk2\DR3
I can "cancel", "try again", or "continue".  The only thing that works is to hit "cancel"  (several times).  Premiere Elements will then open, but the error message will keep recurring.   Adobe Support (Chat) has not been much help.
Anyone else come across this?  This seems to be a common error in earlier versions (version 9), but I can't seem to find any good solution to it.   HELP!!!!
UPDATE:   Just as an FYI..while it's possible (but doubtful) there is preloaded software interfering, there is no other software (or viruses) installed on this computer.

  • No disk error in Premiere Elements 12 - Smartsound plug-in?

I have a fresh install of Premiere Elements 12 (with 12.1 update) on a new computer and receive the error "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive E:" whenever the program is opened or closed. I can bypass this message by repeatedly clicking "cancel". Windows application logs in event viewer lists a corresponding error message "Activation context generation failed for C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 12\Plug-ins\Common\SmartSoundAdobePlugin64.prm". I confirmed that this file does not exist.
A forum search indicates that installing Smartsound resolves this no-disk error for PrE 11 and earlier but that Smartsound is no longer a feature in PrE 12:
Re: No Disk Error for Adobe Premiere Elements 12
But another other user reported that the no-disk problem went away in PrE 12 after installing Smartsound:
Re: "No Disk" Error (premiere elements 12)
And my event viewer error message indicates that PrE 12 is looking for a Smartsound plug-in which was not included in the installation. (PrE 12 was installed via Dell Digital Delivery and did not include an installation disk.)
So why is PrE 12 looking for a Smartsound plug-in if it is no longer a feature? Any suggestions for suppressing the no-disk error other than installing Smartsound?  I'm just getting started in PrE and don't need it right now.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Thank you for the advice. I tried Han's suggestion of installing Smartsound SonicFire first since it was much quicker than completely reinstalling PrE (which entails many hours of re-downloading on a DSL line for the program & cloud content).
After installing Smartsound, the "SmartSoundAdobePlugin64.prm" file did appear in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 12\Plug-ins\Common\ folder. However, it did not resolve the "No Disk" error or the application error logged in Event Viewer. The source of that error is listed as "SideBySide" and Event ID is 33. The full text of the message is as follows:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 12\Plug-ins\Common\SmartSoundAdobePlugin64.prm". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.MFC,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type=" win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
I did a bit of research and this answer suggests that the error is the result of an incompatibility between the installed version of Microsoft Visual C++ and the version used by the program:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/event-id-33-so urce-side-by-side/ef67e34f-07b2-4d52-a807-f9f81a7c32f8?auth=1
Based on this Microsoft article, it appears that the missing C++ 2008 version 9.0.201022.8 is an IA-64 version while the 9.0.30729.x versions on my machine are x64 versions:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973552
This is all way over my head and I may leave well enough alone until I have more time to spare, given that the "no disk" error (which could even be entirely unrelated) is annoying but not crippling.
FWIW, the machine is a Dell XPS8700, Windows 8.1, 64-bit, and PrE was sold by Dell it, bundled with Photoshop Elements.

  • No Disk Error when opening JFileChooser

    Hi all
After launching my app via JWS and opening my apps FileChooser I get a 'javaw.exe - No Disk' error message:
'There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive A:.'
This doesn't happen if I start the app without JWS. Although it happens only the first time after opening the FileChooser it's rather annoying for the user. I can't expect the user always having a disk in their drive.
Is there a way of switching the scan for drive A off?
    Thanks for your help.

This is a SecurityManager - Problem and the java.io.File.
    eg.:
    System.setSecurityManager(new RMISecurityManager());
    File[] roots = File.listRoots();
Then you will see the problem...
    I tried the following workaround:
before you access disk. (or JFileChooser)
    SecurityManager sm = System.getSecurityManger();
    System.setSecurityManager(null);
    // disable the SecurityManger
// this special disk access needs no SecurityManager..
... popup JFileChosser or make FileAccess..
    System.setSecurityManager(sm);
    // restore the old SecurityManger
It's not the best solution but it works..
    hope this will help,
