FLV player works in Firefox but shows white area in IE/Webkit

hi there,
sorry, maybe really stupid problem i've got….
i have flv/swf player (without fla sources) working on a website.
it loads config.xml from the server with flv/swf elements to show…
everything works fine… for except of one problem:
     - if I copy this player to another domain it stops working in ie/chrome/safari - just empty area shown… but still works perfect in firefox (tested on 3 different computers mac/win)
     - web inspector shows that config.xml is loaded in ie/chrome/safari and than it stops
     - even more strange is the fact that if config.xml has only 1 video inside - it works in all browsers.
of course, xml and player (and all files referenced in the xml) are on the same server.
and this is making me crazy…
decompiling the player does not show any interesting/specific code.

this makes me suspicious that something didn't get copied correctly or if it did, the pathing changed.

This could very well be due to an IE conditional statement (if IE do this if not IE do that).
So again, part of coding may be missing or perhaps a link in the <head> to the javascript Flash detection.
Post a link so we can actually see what's going on. Without seeing the actual HTML code, we can only guess.

After uninstalling and downloading the latest Abobe Flash player, I can no lnger play youtube videos. I get the message "blocked plug-in". It works in Firefox, but not Safari.

in Safari’s Preferences, select its Security tab, and make sure that its “Internet plug-ins: Allow Plug-ins” checkbox is checked.

Added a spry menu bar and site works in firefox but not in chrome or IE. Please help

I'm a photographer by trade and have only picked up enough web design knowledge in order to build a website that isn't distracting to my photographs and is simple to update and mantain. Please breakdown any answers to my questions in very simple terms.

1. My Biggest problem right now is that my site works in firefox but appears as a blank white page in chrome and in IE it only shows my background color.
I'm assuming that this has something to do with the spry menu bar I added. The galleries, banner, and footer were all part of a previous version of this website that didn't use the menu bar. I actually used png's exported from an illustrator as buttons. I've been wrestling with this menu bar for a few days now. I had an issue with the menubar forcing down the gallery below it. that was fixed by changing a position value from relative to absolute in the menubar css. Then I couldn't see the submenu over the galleries. I think I fixed that with a wmode change but I"m not sure if I did that right. I believe i needed to change that in the object and embed part of the code. One spot for certain browsers and the other spot for other browsers. I was a little confused on this because i also read that i needed to change the wmode in the javascript file in dreamweaver cs4 which is what i'm using. Whatever wmode I changed it seemed to work in firefox. The submenu background was showing up transparent but i fixed that in the menubar css.
2. I would like the submenu's to have a semi transparent blurred background effect. Is this possible with a spry menu bar?
3. How do I center my text in the submenu?
4. My menu bar buttons should be the same font as my name in my banner. It looks fine on my computer that has that font loaded but on other computers I was testing the site on the menubar buttons show up as a default font. How can i fix this?
5. Is there any way to get rid of the grey lines that show up around my slideshow pro galleries and menu bar buttons when they are clicked?
The last four questions aren't as important as the first one. I may be upsetting the flow of the forum as well. Please let me know if I'm not following procedure with any of my questions. Feel free to point out any other problems you see with my page. I'm trying to learn this as I go. Thanks in advance.

Spry widgets, which includes the SpryMenuBar, in their original state do not pose any problem in any browser!
Widgets contain two parts
JavaScript which drives the widget
CSS which styles the widget to individual tastes
The most common reason for a widget to misbehave especially in IE is because the inexperienced web developer has upset the delicate balance of the CSS. I say delicate, because in the original, great care has been taken by the Spry team to ensure cross browser compatibility.
There are other reasons why a whole page can misbehave. In these cases, the culprit should be sought outside of the Spry framework.
When trouble shooting, I would first of all comment out all of the Spry Spry parts and test the page in IE. If it does work after that, then yes come back here and we will have a look at the SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css for you.
If it doesn't work after disabling Spry, then have a look at the coding and the CSS for your page and fix that.

Flash player works on youtube but when trying to watch video on yahoo homepage says need to download adobe flash player I have already uninstalled several times but still won't work please help

YouTube uses javascript to determine if Flash Player is installed and switches to HTML5 (MP4), which requires no plugin, if Flash Player isn't detected. Yahoo doesn't do that yet. Here's why this is important, especially if you're using IE11.
The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
Firefox (from Mozilla)
Opera (from Opera)
Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

The visitor counter on my website no longer works on Firefox but still works in ME. How do I fix it?

I have a free visitor counter (by easycounter.com) on my website. It has been working fine in both Firefox (3.6.16) and MS Internet Explorer.
Yesterday, I noticed it no longer works with Firefox but still fine with MS IE.
Earlier in the week I did download a few add-ons recommended by Firefox.
Can anyone advise what the problem might be and how to fix it? The code for the counter is still intact on my page at www.qsl.net/ve3bdb.

Incidentally, the page now takes forever to load when using MS IE, but I don't know if that's related.

Which extensions did you install?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

My Microsoft Intellimouse back and forward buttons don't work in Firefox, but they do in IE and in Windows Explorer. It used to work, now it just stopped. Why and how can I fix this?

Forward and back buttons don't work in Firefox but do everywhere else.

Make sure that you set those buttons to the default action in your mouse driver software (Control Panel > Mouse or specific Intellimouse driver software).

Rollovers & actions work in Firefox but not IE

Hello,
The site www.lamps-on-line.com has rollovers and actions created a few years ago in GoLive and now these effects only work in Firefox, but not in Interenet Explorer (IE7), which displays page errors. Is there a way to fix this? I acknowledge that the site needs replacing but while it's still running my client wants it fixed.
I set up a test page at www.lamps-on-line-com/test.html in which I took off all rollovers and actions, and this loads OK but I really don't want to have to resort to doing this on every page.
I wondered if it is somrthing to do with 'Doctype'?
Hope someone can help.

I didn't see any errors when I looked at yourhome page in IE7 (on Vista). So which page elements were producing an error and what was the error you were seeing? Did you delete the cache in IE7 to check whether it was a caching problem? Tools > Internet Options > Browsing history (choose to delete)?

You need the Apple ID and password that was originally used to set up the device. Ask the seller to give it to you. If the seller is unable or unwilling to provide the information, the Phone is probably stolen. There is nothing you can do.

Adobe flash player does not work on Firefox, but does on Wind Exp

I have reinstalled Adobe Flash Player many times and also reinstalled Firefox, but flash player does not work. Every tim I try to play something it tells me to install the latest version of flash player. Flash player works fine on on Windows Explorer

IE uses a different version of Flash (ActiveX) than other browsers use, you need to install the Plugin version of Flash.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here:

Save it to your Desktop. 
2. Close Firefox using File > Exit 
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed,

Flv player works locally but not when uploaded

Another day, another issue...
I have a flash movie that includes an flv player with previews and buttons. It reads the content from an xml file.
It works without problem when I test it locally. Trouble is when I upload it, everything displays correctly but the flv movie file doesn't play. Here's the test link:

After I made master reset it's booting fine and working and I can receive calls, but it shows only white screen. Yesterday I updated firmware, but still white screen. What can I do? Please help!

If the screen is white (blank) and the phone seems to work in any other way - it sounds like it's a hardwarefault with the screen in some way. Take it to a Nokia care point.

Media Player works in FF, but not in IE. WHY?

I have placed video file on my home page, and the file works fine with firefox but not in internet explorer. I am not sure why, or how to fix the problem. Also, when I insert the media. I am inserting a plug-in and not dragging a media player object. When I drag, I never get mime, object/embed or class options stately. However, when I insert a plug-in, I get all of those options.
Also, I have been able to view video files only once in IE, and on that time when I looked at the inspector at the window media player, I noticed that it actually stated Windows Media Player as the player (the operation write-in words directly below classid pull down box. The same area where the clss write-in appears after it is chosen)
At this time, it states NONE for player chosen.
Also, I normally use FF as my browser and in the program I only see FF logos for html files --- would it work differently if the program recognized IE only?

I think I figured it out. Looks like the size of the XML file
returned is a factor. I validated my XML file (
http://www.w3schools.com/dom/dom_validate.asp)
to be error free. Then I decided to just show a set of names that
have "chris". EUREKA! The autosuggest worked with a smaller XML
dataset. Then I put the rest of the data back and the autosuggest
stopped working. But Firefox has no problems. Only IE.
There are 569 records in my xml file. Sample record:
