Forecast timeframe change

Hi gurus
I am trying to change cost center validity period using OKEON and I get an error message: new validity time period 01.01.2000-31.12.2008 outside of forecast timeframe.
I did this before with some other cost center in another company.
What is the forecast timeframe and how can I change it?
Thanks
Ofer

    The other parameters maintained are:
    selection procedure-2

    reset automatically- is checked
    model selection-A
ALPHA FACTOR AND GAMMA FACTOR MAINTAINED
    initialization-X
Now when i run the program RMPROG00, then in isee that the forecast model changes to "blank" or "D", "S". pls tell me how this change is happening?

    Hello Dinakar,
I am also facing the similar issue, Are you able to get rid of this issue.

  • Forecast Value Change

    Hello Every1,
Please let me know which function module can I use for updating the Forecast (Category : FA) values in the live cache.
    Thanks,
    Siva.

    Hi Sivaprakash,
You can use the planning book BAPI to do that (function module BAPI_PBSVARPS_CHANGEKEYFIGVAL for SCM 4.0 and BAPI_PBSVARPS_CHANGEKEYFIGVAL2 for >=4.0).  You can view the documentation of this function module in transaction SE37 and/or transaction BAPI.
    Hope this helps.

  • BAPI_MATERIAL_MAINTAINDATA_RT reorder point & Forecast parameters

    Hi
I use  BAPI_MATERIAL_MAINTAINDATA_RT for change reorder point and only this, but after run i see that the forecast parameters changed too.
    example code
    head-material = matnr.
    head-logst_view = 'X'.
    plant-material = matnr.
    plant-plant = werks.
    plant-reorder_pt = value.
    plantx-material = matnr.
    plantx-plant = werks.
    plantx-reorder_pt = 'X'.
    CALL function 'BAPI_MATERIAL_MAINTAINDATA_RT'
      EXPORTING
         headdata = head
      Importing
         return = return
    TABLES
       plantdata = plant
       plantdatax = plantx.
I try to select/deselect auto_reset (reset forecast model automatically) but nothing was changed.
Do you know what is wrong whit this??

    Hi,
You might need to check for an OSS Note for this BAPI.
For detailed Desc of BAPI, Refer to http://abap.wikiprog.com/wiki/BAPI_MATERIAL_MAINTAINDATA_RT
Or you can also use WE60 for IDOC ARTMAS01, the segment definition will help you to understand the BAPI parameters.

  • Statistical Forecast Models Using Forecast Assignment Table

Hello all.  I need some help.
I am trying to setup a background process to execute Statistical Forecasts in background using the models stored in the table /SAPAPO/DP_FCST2
Can anybody offer advice with regards the best approach.
Is there a specific Forecast Strategy or User Exit that should be used?
    Thanks

    Hello Christopher
Control Parameter in the activity needs to be setup correctly.
Additionally please refer this old thread
Forecasting interactively and background in DP
Just want to add some additional information on this topic  -
In Planning Book, Goto Settings => Forecast Profile => Assignments: There are three options available -
    1) Save assignment of selection for forecast profile - This allows users to save changes to original forecast profile
    2) Save assignment with unique forecast profile - (this allows for the planner to fine tune a model but then save it to a unique GUID instead of over-writing the original profile itself.  Typically, DP Planner are expected to use this option.
    3) Do not save assignment and forecast profiles  - This also allows users to over-write the original forecast profile settings without saving the assignment
Additionally if this /SAPAPO/FCST_GUIDS parameter is set to “X” then it will result into system saving any forecast profile changes as a unique forecast profile(GUID based).
Also when generating the forecasting (using option#2 above )interactively, it is important to use same planning levels(selection id) as defined in aggregation levels in background job.
    Hope this will help.
    Thank you

  • Forecast execution is resetting safety stock

I have MRP set up for CBP (VV MRP Type). I maintain a static safety stock value. When I run my forecast, without changing the forecast model or any other forecast values, the system resets the safety stock to zero. I'm struggling to figure out what is causing this. Just a stab in the dark, but can the 'reset automatically' flag have something to do with this behavior?
    Thanks, Vlad

  • Need suggestion in doing functionality similar to What-if Analysis?

    Hi,
I have to develop a line chart with some requirements which is little bit tricky. So, was checking out if some one can help me out here. My scenario is explained below:
Suppose if you are a Oil drilling machinery supplier and you receive invoices for drilling machine order from your clients every month. Now last year because of the issue like BP oil spill in gulf of mexico, and this year Japan's Tsunami the client has not received many invoices from oil drilling companies which are working in those areas.
So my invoices numbers are like in Feb 2010 was 10000, in March 2010 was 11000, and in April 2010 was 11500, and after the incident in April 2010 the May 2010 values are 5000, June values are 5500, July is 5700, and August 2010 is 10300.
Same kind of deviated values happened after Japan Tsunami. ( i have just taken these examples to let you understand my problem clearly).
Now with the deviation in invoices after April 2010, and the business restoring to its normal sales after 4-5 months, let us assume that June 2011 invoices are 11900.
Now my user wants to see a line chart in which he will have last six months of data (Dec-2010 to May-2011). Now they want to have another series in the chart which is a prediction of the future three months values. Also they want an option where in they want to see if some disaster happens what could be the drop in their invoice numbers.
For the first prediction i think i can use Trend Analyzer and forecast it to three months by feeding the last 6 months of data and use the resultant values in the series. But for the second scenario what can i do to retrieve a deviation in values.
Please let me know if you need any other details here.

    Nicolas,
I think my question was incomplete. Here i am not trying to see of how much deviation happened in my historical data but trying to find what could be the deviation in my future data. As i stated if the values for invoices in April 2010 to May 2010 dropped by 5000 because of a disaster, and after couple of months the business restored back to its regular invoices around 11000.
Now in future consider today is July 2011 and they got 11700 invoices already to be delivered for this month, they want to see a forecast or predicted value for August, September, October of 2011. For forecasting i used Trend Analyzer and feeded the last 12 months of data and i was able to get August, September, October values using the Linear Regression option in the component (the values were some were around 11767, 11821, 11853).
Now if some incident happens like i stated above like an oil spill for their major client and they stopped ordering the machinery how would the forecast values change. For this i understand that i have to feed a data as far as 4-5 yrs and see how deviation is happening because of disasters. But, can we do it manually in Xcelsius is what my question.
I went online and came to know of a tool called "Predictive Wrokbench" but the BI team Manager do not want to purchase the licence of a tool which is used only for only a single dashboard (which totally makes sense).

  • SEM BPS - Planning function to distribute total value over months

    Hello,
We use SEM BPS. In fact we use the integration of SEM BPS in the CRM opportunity component as opportunity planning.
Now we want to distribute the total value of certain key figures over the months. Either equal distribution or increasing distribution like 1% increase every month. What would be the best way to do that with a planning function?
We need to take into account that the number of months depends on the start and end date of the transaction (opportunity).
    Best regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
I would probably create a fox formula, do a foreach in selection loop over the months and distribute the values within that formula.
If you want to use a standard distribution function, you need to create the reference data somewhere before, which could be a bit difficult if the timeframe changes according to user selections.
    regards

  • Calculated key figures in manual planning

I'm trying to set up a Material Planning system using BPS.
One of the requirements my customer wants is that in the manual planning he can both modify a multiplier as well as one of the resulting amount key figures.
The multiplier is used to calculate the consensus amount based on a consolidated amount.
In my manual planning I have the possibility to allow input on the multiplier as well as the consensus forecast (that has been calculated upfront). Now I need the consensus forecast to change when th multiplier is changed.
How can I best tackle this? (Yes, I'm fairly junior to BPS...)
Thanks for any guidance in this matter.
    Regards,
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
to give business the most flexible solution, allow them to manually change the multiplier or the result and provide two planning functions (FOX). One for calculating the result from the multiplier, and one for the reverse. Then the user can choose which direction they want to go.

  • Problem with Count

In Essbase, is it possible to perform a counting function ( one that is similar to the COUNT in Oracle ). For example, I want to:1. Get a count of all the interception with Forecast Measure = 1002. Given a group of interceptions, get a count of all the interception with Forecast Measure = 100If we can't do this in Essbase, we may have two other solutions:1. Perform the count by going through all the interceptions on a one-by-one basise, but it is going to be too too slow2. Have all the values of the Forecast Measure to be stored in Oracle as well. Whenever a value in the Forecast Measure change, the Oracle table automatically gets updated. In Oracle I can do COUNT in SQL. However, I don't know what is the most effective way of performing such kind of data synchronization between Essbase and Oracle.Anyone gets an idea? Thanks,Anne

To count the rows for the filtered data, you need to fo with actual table nly. May be, you need to look at the index on Column_name, however, that would not help you here as you are using % ''val'' %(not sargable).
An index on the column would certainly help, assuming that the table has quite a few more columns than this column. Scanning the index is faster than scaning the index, since it's fewer pages to scan.
Full-text index that was suggested by someone else, can be a great improvement, but that requires that value searched for is a whole word, or at least start of one.
But overall Queriessqlserver need to explain the problem in more detail, and particular why (s)he is running this query, to get any meaningful suggestions.

  • Customizing Proportional Factors in APO DP

How can I base my proportional factors APODPANT on a future mix of a Statistical Model.  For instance, a Stat Model is run to create a suggested forecast.  Then my users can go into another KF to type in their forecast at the Product Family level.  I want to use the Proportions of the individual products from the Stat model  projections to take their typed in Product Family forecast and disaggregate it down into the individual products in that family.  I see some options in the Planning Area for dissaggregations on KFs, but not sure which one to pick to base the proportions on future months.
Also, as a further exercise, they want me to disallow certain materials where they don't want their forecast to change in the disaggregation.  They will type in this forecast at the product level for a couple products only, but still want to put in a Product Family forecast and disaggregate to all other products proportionallly, but exclude these.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Andrea

    Andrea
In Planning Area administration, Key Figure aggregation tab, for the user input Key Figure, specify the calculation type as 'P' and the disaggregation key figure as the Stat fcst.
You dont need to use APODPDANT in this scenario. Generally, APODPDANT is used if you want to use historical proportions to disaggregate future periods. Another reason for using APODPANT is if you want users to manually edit Proportional factors in the Planning book. Neither of this appears applicable in your scenario.
Refer to this link for information on fixing key figures (You can fix the value of a key figure in interactive demand planning so that the value does not change if you change other values of the key figure at other planning levels. The system saves information relevant for fixing at detail level.)

  • Characteristic of selection not part of aggregation level

I am receiving the following message in my log after running a background job for my forecast.  My selection profile has an exclusion so I did not add the Characteristic to the Aggregation Level.  I want to run the forecast at the higher level of aggregation excluding these two criteria (Sales Regions).  If I include it in the Aggregation Level it runs the forecast at the individual Sales Regions.  Can an expert clarify this is ok and I am not running the forecast at the higher level including the two Sales Regions.
    Thanks.

Thanks Guarav, please see my comment below.
Ok, I believe I have resolved the issue.  I am going to summarize my previous process.
1.Created a Master Profile (forecast) for each Strategy I wanted to test.  I would use the same Master Profile even if I changed the Parameters in the Univariate Profile.
2.Used the same forecast Activity, changing each time I changed the Strategy.  Planning Job would remain the same.
3.By creating a New Activity & New Planning Job my forecast model appears to be running correctly.  The only items I continue to select in the Planning Job Aggregation Level are SourceSystem and Product.
It Appears the best methodology is to set up a separate Master Profile/Univariate Profile for each Strategy & set of Parameters.  A separate Activity & Planning Job should also be set up for each Strategy & set of Parameters.  This would also have to be done in order to add to an overnight (monthly) Process Chain.

  • Planning Job Aggregation Level

I am running a Background Job (Univariate Forecast Profile).  My Selection Profile excludes 3 single values can I still run the model at this level of aggregation "total" excluding those 3 single values.  Running the model at the Total should be more accurate than running the model for 22 single values and summing the forecast.  For some reason a forecast is no longer being produced?  I do get the warning Characteristic of selection not part of aggregation level.  I didn't notice any problems the last couple months.
    Thanks, experts!

  • Datawarehousing within Discoverer - Storing snapshots

I'm in the process of constructing a datawarehouse using discoverer.
I need to produce a full set of reports on the data at the end of every month.
I want to keep a full record of what I report every month.
Initially I thought I might be able to archive PDFs or use Scheduled reports.
Each month I will produce a report which includes costs of year to date and a forecast until the end of the year. Once I have made a number of forecasts, I want to compare them with each other and explain exactly why the forecast has changed.
PDF's or Scheduled Reports won't do this because they just store the report but not the underlying data in a form which can further be analysed.
Effectively I want each month to store a snapshot of the whole years data for future reference.
Then as snapshots build up I want to be able to compare snapshots or even show a trend of the results of a snapshot over time. (e.g. a trend of the forecast as well as a trend of expenditure)
Maybe the details of my finances are not of too much importance. What I need is decide the best way to implement a method for storing the whole data situation once a month in such a way that I can reconstuct old reports AND compare old reports.
I wondered about OLAP but am unable to get the license for that.
I also wondered about Materialised views which certainly take a snapshot but as far as I can see when the view is refreshed I lose all the data from the last snapshot.
I'm coming to the conclusion that I need to manually set up a facttable and a number of dimension tables. Then each time I want to create a snapshot, I would copy all the required data from my data staging area, into the fact & dimension tables and include a dimension called "snapshot" which records when I did the snapshot and give it a name (such as "Jun 07"). Then I can keep a record of all snapshots in one model and can report from it AND copare old reports or even show a trend of reports over time.
It's possible I'm missing a feature of DIscoverer that would help?
If anyone knows of anything which would help I'd appreciate you letting me know.
Even if it's to confirm that my proposed approach sounds like the best one.
    Kind regards
    Suhada

Discoverer is a reporting tool, not one for building a warehouse. The design and implementation of a data warehouse is not the same as the reports that come out of it.
That said, how to solve your problem...
You could use materialized views to store the data monthly, but I think that would be a bit of overkill. One possible solution would be to store all of your data in your fact tables, then create a report in Discoverer that accepts a date as a parameter. The report would calculate/aggregate the data up to that date (from the start of the year), and provide a forecast. The report could then be scheduled to run monthly. If users wanted to see a previous month, they would change the date parameter and rerun the report.
Another problem with the materialized view approach would be late data entry. Suppose there is a scheduled job that creates the MV at midnight on the 1st day of the month. The MV gets created, then the next morning, and employee comes in and finds invoices, orders, or other data that needed to be posted for the previous month. The data could get entered, but the MV is not refreshed, and now the data in the MV is incomplete.
